Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
longwayaway · 15/11/2009 15:41

Feeling the same way here, weston!

Congrats to BBL and roomac

Sorry to hear about all the colds and flu going around... it's really the last thing any of us need at this point.

DH and I did a big clean up today. I even raked leaves in the yard! Been getting pitiful little exercise lately so it felt good to be outside for a bit. The little one's been really active lately, not sure what she's doing in there but I hope it's getting her closer to feeling ready to come out

LissyGlitter · 15/11/2009 16:08

Tomorrow morning I have my baby! I'm eating chocolate and trying not to get scared now. Glad it is time to have her as I am getting less mobile by the day.

Tonight I will have a shower with unscented stuff and then sleep with a baby blanket, just in case she gets taken to SCBU or something, so she will have something that smells of me and DP. DP is going to shave my scar area and my mum had promised me a massage to relax me. Think that is about all I can do now to prepare.

I will try and get a picture on facebook as soon as the baby is born (well, not the minute she is born, I might be a bit distracted ) but have just had to get a new phone so not sure it will work.

(btw, there were a couple of you who I had the phone numbers of, I have lost all my numbers, so if you could text me so I have your number, that would be great. I still have the same number)

misssese · 15/11/2009 16:47

how exciting lissy cant wait to see pics!its been a bit quite today feel you are all giving birth???

raggie · 15/11/2009 17:06

It certainly has been quiet today!

I've been in town for a bite of lunch with some friends, one of whom is about 28 weeks pregnant. She and her partner were making me feel so crappy though - just saying really irritating and IMO rude things about how big I was (yeah, it's gonna happen to YOU TOO!) and being really blunt about how our lives are going to change so much (yes I know, but I am actually looking forward to it...) and just generally being rather annoying and saying insensitive things about heavily pregnant ladies 'waddling' and making me feel silly for not eating brie ... 'oh I have it all the time, I had some yesterday and now I'm having goats cheese'...'it's just advice to reduce risk that's all.'

OK, now I feel like a moron, thanks.

Came home and had a wee sob on DH about it. Luckily he was as sweet as ever and very sympathetic and let me have a cry even though objectively I am sure I am just being a bit oversensitive and emotional he agreed with me about them being a bit over the top.

Sorry for the moan. People don't realise how sensitive pregnant ladies are, do they?

Tamlin · 15/11/2009 17:14

At 28 weeks, it is impossible to imagine you'll EVER be THAT big. Ha, just wait until she's 41 weeks and you've got a fat charming baby and your waistline back...

raggie · 15/11/2009 17:30

Thanks tamlin! That thought's cheered me up

Shall I start thinking of insensitive things to say at that point now? (evil emoticon!)

Trikken · 15/11/2009 17:43

hi all. just letting you know Annabelle Faora Swain was born at 8.50 last night! weighing 9 pounds 14 ounces!

Laugs · 15/11/2009 17:44

It is oddly quiet today. I wonder how many babies are being born?

Lissy how exciting! Tomorrow you'll be a mum of two. I wish I could have a date on mine like that.

Raggie You're certainly not a moron for following the advice which I imagine most of us follow. And the rest of it will happen to her soon enough! She hasn't even got that long to go... silly girl.

On the waddling thing. I stupidly described myself as waddling along in some story I was recounting. DD picked up on it and now every time it's "I was walking and Mummy was waddling"... I'm sure it will last far longer than the last few weeks of pregnancy

longwayaway Do you feel like you're nesting? I do and it feels like temporary insanity. It has been a long time coming. I am not normally the most domesticated of people... today I have been rushing round like a mad thing trying to tidy/ clean everywhere. At one point I actually broke into a run (Raggie I'm sure your friend would have enjoyed that sight!)

Tamlin Nice to see you. Is DH back now? I hope you managed ok with 2 little ones and had plenty of nice carpet picnics courtesy of Waitrose.

Laugs · 15/11/2009 17:46

Yay! Congratulations Trikken I've been wondering if you were in labour. Annabelle is a lovely name. I hope she's doing well

misssese · 15/11/2009 18:03

Trikken yay im sooo happy for you as i no you were getting a bit fed up. I cant remember if you were getting induced or not? sorry pregnancy brain! Annabelle is a lovely name!

helips · 15/11/2009 18:19

Awww congrats Trikken on your baby girl, lovely name and a very healthy weight! Looking forward to hearing all about it x

raggie · 15/11/2009 18:59

Congratulations trikken!

Thanks for the words of wisdom laugs, very kind and really making me feel better.

I expect a flurry of birth announcements soon -katster is notably absent today and good luck lissy of course. I can't keep up with who else is due/induced but I know there are loads.

Keep on visiting us or we'll get lonely! Could still be a month for some of us!

trikken welcome Annabelle and congratulations! how do you feel? hope all went as well as possible!

roomac yey! welcome to Olivia too! i think 13th is a great day, wild and wet, a fab memory there! I want proper november too. wild storms, lashing rain, thunder and lightning!

I am alas not in labour, and this boy is appearing quite happy and content in my belly. Everywhere hurts, in particular thighs/pelvis, have to walk with my legs very close together, can no longer put my shoes on! Everywhere apart from my actual belly, where baby is snug as a bug! I saw some friends today, we did beach walk and then had roast dinner - saw my friend last week and she said i have grown a lot since last week, so he is obviously putting on some winter weight before he arrives .

It really is quiet today isn't it? Either serious nesting is going on, or some babies are being born. A good day for it, not much on tele today is there?

katster37 · 15/11/2009 19:19

Aaaw, Raggie I hate it when people are like that. I've also been made to feel stupid for following advice during the pregnancy, and even today, I sent back a steak sandwich that I had asked to be extra well done, and it was still pink and slightly bloody, and the waitress looked at me like I was making an unreasonable fuss. Friends have also made laughing remarks about how life will never be the same again/I'll never have a 'decent' holiday again, blah blah. It's so annoying. They are probably just jealous that in just a few days you will be over the moon and will never look back. Oh - a classic I had a few times 'oh, and you'll never have a nice flat stomach again' said with pleasing smirk... Just tell them to sod off.

Trikken congratulations on the arrival of Annabelle - and what an amazing weight!! I hope the birth was OK and you are home.

Sorry for going awol, ladies - unfortunately I have not been giving birth (!) but for a long walk in an attempt to persuade the darling to hurry up! Just about to chop up a pineapple and wondering how much of it I can eat without having a seriously sore tummy...

Hope everyone's OK!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 15/11/2009 19:20

raggie how rude. Lets just hope she is like an elephant at this stage, then you can say 'oh, my, aren't you enormous? You are bigger than me at this stage!' as far as eating brie and taking chances is concerned, up to her if she wants to take the risk, but it is a risk and you should not feel bad about not doing it. Not a moron at all, a sensible mother to be who makes her own choices. ( I personally have been a little more relaxed about what i have chosen to eat/avoid this time around, but blue cheese and brie, and other non-pasturised cheese are still definite no-nos for me, as although most are packed in airtight environment, as soon as they are exposed to air, risk of bacteria forming increases substantially).

laugs I read yesterday that your DD was poorly. I am sorry she has been so unwell and had to go to hosp again. Fingers crossed she improves. When DD had croup, we put water in bowls on the radiators to hydrate the air, and put DD in the bathroom with shower on to create steam. Just in case you need any more advice, but you probably already know all that. Hope she feels ok.

katster37 · 15/11/2009 19:20

Oooo and Lissy GOOD LUCK tomorrow!! I will be glued to FB waiting to hear how you are!!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 15/11/2009 19:22

lissie yes, good luck tomorrow

Laugs · 15/11/2009 20:50

Thanks Pavlov. She has been a lot better today, but coughing and wheezing again now. The nights are always worse though. I might try steaming her room later (well, our room as she's going to sleep with me again)

When I am rich I am buying myself a huuuge bath. Just had a bath this evening and lovely as it was, ours is really small and there was no room to manoeuvre at all. I couldn't get my much of my bump in it, even with the water right to the top.

(Oh, it's just occurred to me I'll probably never be pregnant again - rich and big-bathed or not. That makes me feel quite sad)

katster Good luck with all your labour inducing tricks!

hobnob57 · 15/11/2009 20:56

Flip, quiet here today!

Trikken I was wondering what had happened to you - congratulations to you both and I hope you're recovering well.

LIssy all fingers crossed for you tomorrow.

No news here. I've tried putting on my big tubigrip today to see if that helps engagement, but no. However, I haven't been up and about as much as I normally am so I'm feeling a little walk-deprived. Today has consisted mainly of Tescos, cleaning the shower, making cookies and going to the ILs.

DH is dying to stop work for a bit and is complaining he can't concentrate when I'm overdue. I'm bored out of my brain, and can't focus on much either. But yet I still have this feeling that I'll still be pregnant next weekend. MW at 8:30 tomorrow - maybe that'll shock it out!

Raggie it's so easy to get upset about anything at this stage, and beyond as kyte has shown us today. It's a good time to practice that water off a duck's back approach to life and follow brood's advice to follow your instincts at all times.

Katster hope the pineapple is a nice one! I've given up on labour induction - it didn't work for me last time and I'm trying the relaxing approach this time. Relaxing and cookies.

raggie · 15/11/2009 21:00

Thanks lovely people. You have made me feel MUCH better . I think you must be right kyte about her realising she will be LARGE. She is probably relishing the chance to say it to me as I am normally half the size of her (sorry, does that sound REALLY bitchy?!) and for once, she is the comparably small one.

By the way, this person is the partner of a friend of DH. As in, not a close friend. I know my 'real friends' would not be so rude. Feel I must defend them, how silly. This girl is a bit weird, it must be said. Must bear that in mind next time.

Sorry to hear the stress with mw/hv kyte. Like you say, very annoying and why can't they see the big picture in these situations? It's all black and white and dehumanised with some people. Grrr.

Urgh, I really don't like pineapple katster. But if you think it'sll do the trick

I've just watched True Blood on 4OD and The Thick of It on iPlayer. Might go to bed as had a late one (past midnight ) last night. Or are there any other recommendations for trashy tv via the internet?

hobnob57 · 15/11/2009 21:03

pav I've forgotten - when are we expecting our gorgeous bras to arrive again?

Trikken · 15/11/2009 21:30

We're both fine, thanks, apart from I have a sore back, dont know what ive done to my spine but it kills. we came home today at fourish which was good. Technically my labour was 3.25 hours long, but thats cos they refused to acknowledge my labour as i woke up fri morning six o clock with cx, made dh stay home. phoned up at half ten to say we were gonna come into the mu as my cx were coming 4/5 mins apart and strong, lasting 50 secs roughly, they said yes, come in. got there, checked me over was 3 cms, so they said to stay for a bit, ended up staying in overnight as was in real pain, next morn no change even tho still contracting regularly. got told i had to go home, which i didnt want to as could barely walk and was gritting teeth with each cx but they discharged me anyway. by half 5 was in so much agony went back in again by then was 5-6, mw broke my waters and then went fast, and she was born at eight fifty, with about five pushes and tiny tear, cos her shoulder got a little stuck. so tho was really more like 39 hours it was well worth it!

hobnob57 · 15/11/2009 21:30

roomac I forgot to congratulate you too - I remember you from of old!

Trikken · 15/11/2009 21:33

oh and both mum and mil ended being present for the birth as well as dh which was really nice actually.
