Many congrats Heckle!

I really thought I wanted another girl, but I am swinging back and forth; curently hankering after snuggling a little man again. I think once I actually KNOW (next Tuesdy, cannot come quick enough!) I can settle into a steady thought pattern/expectation and the excitement will build. For now, it's just 'a baby' and knowing the sex will help cement the idea of it being a little person.

MandaHugNKill · 20/10/2009 15:54

Well done anna thank goodness you're bored conscentious becaue I've been wondering this! Oooh, a 50/50 split - what are the odds?

Actually, wait! You're bored?!

MandaHugNKill · 20/10/2009 15:55

Sheesh, that was meant to be a sad face - I'm not calling you sad.

Caitni · 20/10/2009 16:08

Anna thanks for the list - excellent work!! I've updated it with surprises, for those of us not finding out

Hecklephone congrats on the good scan

Manda hope you feel better soon - glad you got a good sleep, really helps with colds/virals things.

It's funny but I thought boys were outnumbering the girls so far...but clever Pixie and her two mean the girl count is currently just pipping the boy count

Those who were having scans today - how did it go?

Tigress & Heckle - congratulations!

IWCAS - good luck with your business! I'm doing a little bit of work from home too but I'm missing getting out of the house and meeting people in a work environment. Working /chatting / taking the piss out of boss & clients... Never thought I'd miss it but I do.

Sariska - sounds great doing a masters if you become a SAHM! I wouldn't want to have a full time permanent job as I would hardly see DCs, but I would love to do temping/contract work on and off, or maybe part time.

Don't Try - have a great time in South America, sounds v exciting!

Manda - yeah I'm a bit bored, I've been bored for months, I guess you appreciate holidays more if you're working! And at the moment there's tropical rain outside, I can't get anywhere as DH has taken the car, you can't get anywhere without a car here... and DD is sleeping anyway. The telly is crap, just loud american talkshows and lots of adverts for various medicines or cleaning products! Oh I'm such a miserable bitch... Having a good time on and off though, it's nice to go in the pool in the morning before it gets too hot (can't stand the heat!), and yesterday we caught quite a big cat fish in the canal behind our house, I killed it by whacking it in the head as I didn't want it to suffer so thought I should kill it quickly... then DH filleed it (sp?) and we ate it for lunch... was yummy!

Am feeling quite a lot of movement but wouldn't say it was kicking, just fluttering. Still slightly worried if everything is ok, but trying not to think about it. Roll on scan 5/11!

Hi All

Had 20 week scan this afternoon. All well. Having slept through it's first scan it decided to play through this one!! I'm told 'it' is very active which is nice to hear as I can't feel it yet.

Congrats to all of you with good scan news too and finding out your sex.

We weren't sure whether to find out but hey ho - temptation got the better of us. We have found out and have promised each other we won't tell a soul !!! Soul surely means in RL I hear you say..??!! So yes - we are having a baby boy but shhhhh - it's a secret!! We are both over the moon. I'm not a girly girl and can't see myself going to ballet class but can imagine kicking balls around!! Plus with my sis having 3 boys he will have no shortage of friends, clothes and toys!! All the better for us!!!!!

Is it just me or does everyone else have a problem seeing half the stuff the sonographer points out!!

Here's updated list- 7's a piece:-

Gosh, I also kind of "felt" there were a lot more boys than girls expected - but no, wow!
Annamama, well done for taking the time to do this.

GhostlyPixieOnaPumpkin · 20/10/2009 18:03

Afternoon!
Manda, DD2 likes the crutches - I think she was fed up of sitting down all the time! Also, she is only to use them when she wants to - we still have the wheelchair, and have been told to use that when she wants to. I think it helps that all her friends constantly want a 'go' and think that they're the 'coolest thing ever'! She's also got a new cast to have signed, so that's keeping her busy! Your poor DD having to use crutches twice! Did she break her leg twice, then?
Congratulations to everybody who's had a successful scan!
Annamama, I felt the same about more people having boys than girls, but I must have been wrong! Perhaps people having boys are just louder less subtle than people who aren't?
I haven't done much today - I'm sitting in the car outside ballet at the moment, and it's freezing! I actually can't feel my toes - I've got DS with me though, so we might treat ourselves to a pizza in a minute! We've resorted to singing action songs to keep ourselves warm!

IWCAS lordy, your post made me cry . What a lovely taxi driver - and soooo glad that things are OK with him and his wife and kids . Glad to hear both that your appointment went ok but that they're also going to see you again (after my scan today I'm happy with a cautious approach). I know I don't "know" you in RL, but you seem to be coping well and intelligently with things.

Arcadie · 20/10/2009 19:42

IWCAS - glad you're "officially" not a nutter. We never thought you were... the taxi driver sounds lovely lovely lovely.

And anna You've made another list woman. Do you not REALISE what this is going to do to me when someone doesn't copy and paste the most recent one and then it all gets messed up. DO YOU NOT KNOW!!!!???????

Hello hello!

I am in such great spirits and at the same time completely wiped from worrying about the scan, I am literally bouncing of the walls and ready to collapse. Had my appointment late afternoon, was petrified that the scan might not come out well, but guess what, it was great! The doctor said everything looked absolutely normal, and that the results further confirmed that everything will be alright. I am so thrilled and relieved.

AND he checked the sex and we are having A GIRL. I would have been happy either way but now that I know for sure, I just can't wait to see her and hold her. She was really cute and funny, at one point she opened her mouth really wide and took a big gulp of the amniotic fluid. All day she has been bouncing around like crazy as thought to prove to me that she is very much alive and well.

Thanks so much for your reassurance earlier on. It helps to share your worries and get some support. Congrats to all with positive scan results. And wishing everyone else waiting for their scans happy happy news!

off to sleep now, it's been a looong and emotional day

annamama · 20/10/2009 21:52

Scooby - congrats on the boy!

Sorry Arcadie but it had to be done... let's hope people manage to copy the most recent list!

Do doctors really ask men if he wants to save the wife or the baby? That's awful! Surely the wife should always take priority...? Or maybe not... Hmm... difficult. Let's hope my DH will never be asked that question!

Morning all - last day of the half term so no more work from tomorrow for a full 10 days - yeah - finally get to spend some time with DS - I hate collecting him at 18.30, giving him a quick bath and then straight to bed.

Off to Lanzarote on Monday to see my parents - should be nice apart from the fact that my mother is a complete fruit cake and you never know whether she is going to be nice or nasty - she can be the most irrational, victimised, sorry for herself person in the world or she can be lovely so I will see what awaits me next week. The good weather will be a treat and DS loves seeing his grandad and I love spending time with my dad (who also does the early mornings with DS so I will get a lie in). DH has to stay here and work so I have to manage the flight on my own with a very mischevious DS but Grandma has bribed him with a big truck if he behaves so hopefully all will be well on the plane.

I'm quite glad there are more boys that girls this time round. In my antenatal group when I was having DS there were six girls and only two boys - I felt a bit left out. At least this time I won't be the only one having to steer clear of the pink!

Good luck to all who are having scans in the next few days!

hecklephone · 21/10/2009 12:23

annamama great list - good to know who's having what!

manda I know what you mean about knowing what sex the baby is giving you a better sense of it being a little person. I thought I wasn't bothered about knowing this time round but now I DO know I feel I'm suddenly embracing the whole baby idea afresh and much more excited that I was before the scan - although perhaps I would have felt that way just from seeing baby on the screen. Anyway, I was worried I'd feel like the 'surprise' had been spoiled, but I don't regret finding out at all!

IWCAS I'm also trying to set up a small business working from home at the moment. Feels like the pressure's on with only a few months to squeeze it in before the baby comes, but I reckon even if I don't get much actual work before March, I'll have enough set up ready to go after maternity leave. I actually went to a 'Women Into Business' event last night, which was kind of a networking thing - I was a bit apprehensive but everyone was lovely and it was so encouraging to see other women of all ages making a go of their own businesses.

And for those considering baby modelling - did anyone see the programme on TV last night, 'My Supermodel Baby' following three couples trying to get their babes into modelling? It was really interesting and quite a sweet programme. It gave quite a good insight into the scene for anyone considering it.

Right, have spent too long already this morning having coffee with other mum-friends - must go and do something useful!

rebeccacad · 21/10/2009 12:46

Very quick post - just back from scan and we give in to temptation at last minute. It's a girl. V excited.

New (hopefully correct?!) list below.

Also am measuring 24 weeks instead of just over 20 (also had midwife today) which explains large bump and early movements. MW said nothing to worry about though.

Will catch up on new posts asap...

Yay! Go the girls!
Rindercella, that's really good news that she changed so quickly, even if she was sniffy on the phone! Still, when you've got your lovely new bundle of baby at the wedding, I bet she'll want a hold!
Sarah, the room sounds good! We've redecorated the nursery, which has cream walls, a butterfly border, two cots, a rocking chair, two changing tables and a fake sheepskin rug in it (I couldn't resist the sheepskin rug!). However, it's been so long since we last did all this that I've forgotten what I'm going to need, really! Any pointers would be really useful!
Off to ballet again now - I seem to spend about nine tenths of my time there! Ah well, I suppose she could be into rugby . . .
She's also quite upset this evening, because there's a school social/disco thing which everyone else is going to. She doesn't want to go because she doesn't drink, and she says that people just go to 'get wasted'. She says that she would rather be with her ballet friends, or the school friends who don't drink (and aren't going either), but she's still upset because she's felt really excluded from all their planning all day. She also nearly accepted alcohol earlier - she thought that Apple Sours were sweets!

hecklephone · 21/10/2009 17:03

IWCAS doncha just hate it when stuff like that gets in the way??
The event I went to was called Women Into Business, organised by the local Business Gateway centre. I don't know if you've got one of those near you but they've been really helpful so far and most of their services are free

I'm still in the early stages myself of setting up - (am trying to become a virtual assistant) and haven't even got a business name yet so I was a bit worried about feeling like a fish out of water at the event, but it wasn't a problem. It was quite inspirational and useful to speak to some of the other women there, just to get advice on where to print leaflets, or set up a website etc etc. Everyone was swapping business cards and leaflets but I didn't have anything, so I'll make sure if I go to the next event I will have all that sorted so I can hopefully attract some business. But I would say if you get the chance to go along to something similar, take it - it certainly got me into the 'setting up a small business' mindset!

And Rindercella so glad to hear your sis has changed her mind - good for you for speaking up!

Arcadie · 21/10/2009 17:33

Congrats Rebeccacad

Rinders Sooooo relieved for you re: sister's wedding. Graciously rise above all the narky.

Pixie What is and Apple Sour?!

Nothing interesting to report here.... Still got 3 weeks or so before scan. Feeling a little as though I'd like to have my name in either pink or blue section rather than surprise but know I'll regret it if I find out it's blue too early......
