Thanks Pacific, (BTW, I wasn't in any way doubting your expertise by the way, but had just always assumed one would KNOW if one had a UTI - the peeing razorblades bit specifically...)

I guess the lowered immunity and bits being pushed around all over the place would explain it... Just a bed of roses this pregnancy lark ain't it!?

Still, better go do battle with the tube. I can't tell you how badly I want someone to give me a seat this evening...

{grin] designerbaby. I did not feel doubted at all, I know I am quite the genius . Have a good trip home.

Arcadie · 24/11/2009 18:58

I've decided that being a French teacher has no kudos. I'm going to be a PacificDogwood-a-like GP. Just as soon as I have the baby..... sigh how COOL to just know all that stuff..

oh IWCAS that's SO awful... there is nothing to justify that, her poor family and friends and boyfriend, just tragic tragic stuff and I feel so sad for you too. take it out on us if it makes you feel better...i can take a MN punch!
Take some time to remember the good times and think of some good memories of you and her together, remembering why you were friends will make you cry but it will also make you smile. None of this is fair but she deserves some time tonight in happiness. if that's the right way to put it...
Am so sorry for you xx

Caitni · 24/11/2009 19:22

Oh IWCAS how awful . My thoughts are with her poor partner, family, and friends (including you). Life can be so unfair. Big (((hugs))) to you

mumbot · 24/11/2009 19:31

IWCAS I'm so sorry to hear your news, that's just awful. Thinking of you and her family xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

IWCAS, so sorry to hear the news about your friend. That is just awful and so unfair. Her poor poor family and boyfriend.
I hope you can remember her in good times and do your grieving without this pulling you down too much .

Pingpong · 24/11/2009 20:24

Really sorry to hear about your news IWCAS. It must be a huge shock for you.
Take care.

Sariska · 24/11/2009 20:30

IWCAS - what awful awful news. I am so sorry. It really isn't fair sometimes, is it? Take care of yourself. X

annamama · 24/11/2009 21:09

That's so awful and scary... yes poor her family, boyfriend, friends (including you). It's hard to understand how it's not always possible to save people from something so trivial sounding as flu! Had she been ill for long? I agree with MummyElk, try to remember the good times you had with your friend.

Great article Arcadie... I might try those Nature Care disposable but degradable ones (thanks for the tip Swings), seems a bit disgusting that my DDs dirty pampers will still be intact in 500 years time. And the early potty training clearly isn't going too well...

And what the hell is a mooncup? I could google it, might do that tomorrow as I'm intrigued.

Sariska - that's weird about that picture stealing FB person...

DB - good luck at the docs and hope you get sorted! That sort of thing is so annoying. When you have sex always make sure you have a wee and a wash after, I find that prevents uti. You say you drink a lot which is good. And don't go for too long without a wee, perhaps your 2 hour commutes don't help...

My DD seemed better this morning from her bad cold, she had slept for 14 hours. So I dropped her off at nursery late at about 10.30. Then they called an hour lately saying that she wasn't herself and she had a temperature! When I arrived she was lying on a beanbag looking miserable and I felt like a terrible mum. Tomorrow she's supposed to go to nursery again, hoping for a miraculous improvement so she can go, I need a break.

Anyone else having erm... increased discharge? I have read that this is common in pg so I'm not worried, it's just annoying and contributing to the general feeling of unsexiness.

TakeLovingChances · 24/11/2009 21:36

Hi all.

I'm really sorry to hear about the death of your friend IWCAS

Is v interesting reading all the posts about nappies, up until now it's something I hadn't really thought about. One more thing to add to the list of things to consider/to buy!

I have a question myself: Bit embarrassed to ask as it's something that's never really been in my mind before. Anyway, I'll ask you lot here as I don't think I can ask anyone in RL.... is it okay to use a vibrator during pregnancy? Or could it do damage to/scare the life out of baby? Advice please!

T

siamesecatwoman · 24/11/2009 22:37

TLC I cant imagine it would cause a problem - I would say to make sure it was cleaned throughly before and after.. other than that its just like having a good session with your DP surely..
ermmm have a good night?!

PacificDogwood · 25/11/2009 01:18

You are all going to think I am making this up or that I am an attention seeking troll (or both ): I have a flaking UTI, and there is nothing asymptomatic about it, gah!

So off to spare bed I go again, so I can get up and wee every 30min to my heart's content, and drink gallons, and generally feel sorry for myself...

Night-night!
(sorry for self-pitying post, but felt the need to share)

EmLouT · 25/11/2009 12:13

IWCAS - so sorry to hear about your friend - that must be awful for you. Thinking of you lots!

Not much to report but wanted to say hi. Spent yesterday morning in DAU at the hospital because bump stopped moving. They almost refused to monitor me because the baby is so small. I know the baby is F*ing small which is why I am worried - are these people stupid?

Shroomer · 25/11/2009 12:18

scarySarahandco - you've missed a few typos still, but as this isn't a teachers' forum, you won't be made to stand in the corner. I get your gist - you had a crappy day. Have a large wine, erm, no, cranberry juice.

I was taken out for lunch yesterday (by someone I work for) and I'm afraid that I had a bit of pink lamb. I asked for it 'done' but not 'well done'. I'm still alive, and can still feel kicking, but jeez, I'm a worrier!

Anyone else had any experience of north east England NCT admin? Horrendous. I just want to go on a couple of courses, and can they organise that? Nope.

Caitni · 25/11/2009 12:50

EmLouT Sorry to hear that you had a scare - worrying about movement is horrible - so glad baby emlout was OK. But I'm at the response you got. When I had a scare last week, they said that they can't use the foetal heart monitor thingy until post 26 weeks because of the baby's size, but they manually monitored the heart rate for 45 mins and had a good scan (about 10 mins). With your increased risk of IUGR I can't believe they were being arse-y about monitoring

Sarah sorry to hear work was stressful, sounds like it's good thing you've only got 18 days left!

Shroomer bit of pink lamb is fine I reckon . And LMAO about there being no need to stand in the corner for typos!

Pacific sorry to hear that you've got a UTI too (hope you're not too knackered today). Your double voiding tip is great btw. I also hope your upcoming app with the haemotologist (sp?) is OK - must be quite worrying

DB hope you got on OK at the doc's today.

TLC can't see why a vibrator would be a problem...in fact, you could get some of those fabled pregnancy orgasms! While I'm happy with my usual orgasms I am slightly at those of us having the extra good pregnancy ones!

Anna I've heard that increased discharge is normal but I've not had it myself. Am sure someone on here will be able to reassure you though.

Is anyone else finding it hard to be motivated at work? I'm quite busy at the moment, but just really feel like I'm on the countdown to Christmas and am finding it hard to be arsed!

Arcadie · 25/11/2009 12:54

IWCAS What a crap crap crap thing to happen. So sorry for you and your friend's OH. Certain you don't feel like it but Happy Birthday anyway..... but trying to look ....

PD Some women get all the UTI luck! again for you too......

Annamama A mooncup is a reusable latexy plasticy thimble looking thing that you put up your lady tunnel instead of a tampon. Squelchy and a bit messy to start with but many a lentil weaver brownie point... And I saw your FB profile pic. No one should look that glamourous or good in a bikini this far into pregnancy.

IWCAS again.

cos words just don't cut it at a time like this....
