Hi DrS yes I also have a different bump, it's a lot more...erm...cuddly

Sorry to hear some of you have SPD - ouch! Hope it fades soon.

Anyone else finding maternity trousers not stretchy enough at the bottom of your bump? Mine feel like they are really cutting in there but nowhere else. Possibly linked to biscuits though xxxx

Arcadie · 05/11/2009 23:07

You're all a bunch of brazen minxes with your talk of nooky ago-go. Twice a day.... DH is lucky if he gets twice a quarter when I'm pg.....

TakeLovingChances · 06/11/2009 10:11

sarah did MW say you shouldn't be mopping floors in case you slip or something? What other housekeeping type things does she advise you not to do?

Manda I almost spilt my drink of orange juice when I read your post about the blood. Poor you and poor OH! Hope you're okay soon.

In England when do you all get scanned after 20 weeks? Over here in Northern Ireland we're offered scans at 30 weeks, then again at 36 weeks. Is that similar/same to England?

annamama · 06/11/2009 10:32

Morning... OMG I feel so tired and out of it, hate jetlag. DD is back at nursery today, she woke up bright and bushy tailed ready to go, doesn't seem as affected as me. And she loved wearing her autumn jacket for the first time, I forgot we had it, charity shop find from a while ago... (charity shops rule! ) I'm not complaining about the cold... erm... at least not for a few days more until I've forgotten about the heat torture in Florida.

I'm now catching up with the last 3 pages or so...

Congrats to everyone else with good scans!

Heckle - yes you're right, packing on the way home is in a way easier as you just gotta pack everything you have into the bag(s). The problem is when you've acquired stuff and the bags seem to have mysteriously shrunk! But I had brought an old broken small suitcase, which I swapped for a new bigger one, so I got all mine & DDs crap home no problem.

I think I have heartburn too but I'm not sure what heartburn actually is... and I'm sure it's not as bad as some of you. I just feel a yucky slightly burning sensation in my throat sometimes, which I never normally have.

The worst pregnancy symptom I had last time was feeling unable to get enough oxygen when I was breathing, especially in enclosed spaces such as train. Was almost panicking at times! But that was later on. Not looking forward to last couple of months of pregnancy!

My bump is weird looking, not nice and round but sort of with 2 bumps, like you would imagine it's baby's head and bum...

Smac - I agree with you, I don't think it's that important for baby to see you (and chocolate) when out in pushchair! When I first started DD in MacLaren I was always singing to her so that she'd know I was there. Just in case, to prevent any emotional trauma, however I might have caused more trauma with my singing!

Minicooper - of course you wanna know! See if there's any 3d/4d scan places in your area, if I remember correctly they do a cheap scan with main purpose determining sex. Then you can pay more to get fancy pics, dvd, etc.

At my "real" scan here they said they think it's a girl, because they could see no boy bits. But they couldn't actually see any girl bits either. Then they said it could still be a boy with undescended testicles... hmm. At the scan in Florida they said they're confident to say it's a girl. I guess it's never 100%, we should all remember that!

Scooby - your nursery sounds lovely, so nice to be excited together! Hope you feel better soon.

DrSkid - welcome back. It's hard to keep up with this thread unless you're on all the time... Yes it's only human to feel a bit disappointed that you might never have a boy/girl. Just think "you get what you get given, it wasn't meant for you to have a boy/girl, boys/girls can be pains anyway, pink/blue gets annoying!" etc. I'm over my no-boy disappointment, but still feel a little bit said when see cute boys etc. But I'm really looking forward to having my new girl and I hope she will be as cute as DD and they will be sisters who are close and play nicely together!

Puree - hope you have got over your awful experience at the train station. Some people are just so horrible, it makes you angry and sad.

BPM - hope you had a great time in Chicago! Nice that people were being so helpful.

Pixie - in my pregnancy book it says "Even if the pregnancy has been uncomplicated, 50% of all twins will be born prematurely, before 37 weeks, and these babies are more likely to neede admission to a special care baby unit. This is because they tend to be smaller than singleton babies and, irrespective of their birthweight, also behave less maturely than singletons and often require some assistance with breathing and feeding during the first few days or weeks of their lives."

Re sex - when I was ovulating I was horny as hell! Nice... Shame you can't have that unless you're trying for a baby... Well I guess you can if you use condoms, maybe that's better than being on the pill. Is there any contraception for men these days or is that still being developed? Except for the snip of course! Now we have sex about once a week, once we do it it's quite nice but it's not like I'm dying for it. Glad some of you are NOT so horny either, as I thought it's just me turning into a frigid nun. And great for those who are!! Manda - that sucks, can't you do it and be a bit careful...? Like nice and slow instead of pornstars? Glad you're ok anyway!

TLC - no more scans here in England unless there's a specific reason, ie low placenta or possible late breech. Lucky you!

Ok, think I've caught up with everything now, except doing an updated list... Next time.

Hi newbies - welcome! Crazy americans, haha. You're better off with mumsnet.

kay1980 · 06/11/2009 11:36

Just updating myself on the list its a girl! Well the lady said she was "almost certain" it was as she had her legs clamped shut at first but when she looked again you could see a line there and no boys bits. Everything else is fine and all measurements etc are spot on

Hi Ang - welcome! You just chat on here... like the rest of us. Do you know if you're having a boy or a girl or do you want a surprise?

Congrats Kay! Girls are cool.

There must be loads more to add to the boy/girl/surprise list, I'll do an updated one later today so no need to do anymore lists please... Or if someone else wants to do it, please read back all posts since the previous list and take notes!

I empathise on the jet lag - it took me over a week to get back on track. It co-incided with the clocks changind so DS2 was bouncing in at 5 every morning

To all you first timers... just wait for the joys of motherhood.

I'VE GOT F+*cING NITS!!!

I'm absolutely disgusted and have a complete horror of parasites. Both children have been decontaminated. I showed a dead one to DS2 - he picked off my flannel and popped it in his mouth... nice

angfirsttimer · 06/11/2009 13:50

Thanks annamama, new to this forum thing and already spending too much time on here!
I am having a boy! DH and I are arguing over names at the moment.

Caitni · 06/11/2009 14:15

Just popping on quickly - am so glad it's Friday! Off to Cork for Sat night for my SIL's 40th...nice excuse for one night away.

Manda how awful for you , am glad the bleeding is under control but it must have been a nightmare. And 12 weeks of no nooky is awful too.

Though interesting to read what others are doing/feeling with regards to sex. I was off it completely in the first trimester (poor old DH ) but am now happy to be back to twice a week-ish. Though after a recent bout I felt what I swear was the baby somersaulting - twas freaky .

Anna the jet lag must be awful! Good thing it's the weekend soon so you andyour DD can get back on track together. Glad the scan went well, and interesting to hear of the different approaches with regards to identifying the gender.

Welcome to all the newbies - great to see that more women are joining us. Just dive in with the chatting - it moves quick fast so I tend to try and keep up with the posts but don't have massive amounts of time to post (the joys of an open plan office ).

We've been interviewing for my maternity cover this week. Very interesting, if more than a little surreal!

Big waves to everyone else

Caitni · 06/11/2009 14:16

BPM nightmare about the nits! Hope you get rid of them soon (the joys of motherhood indeed ).

manda at your sex 'incident'! Glad you're ok but how unlucky for you having to cut back your - ahem - activities, especially when you're fortunate enough to still be in the mood to do it. I'm afraid I'm another 'frigid nun' (good phrase anna), am trying to muster up the enthusiasm for once a week for the sake of my poor old DH's libido, but it's probably more like once a fortnight at the mo...

BPM poor you!! I too have a loathing of parasites, swarms, insects in general and am dreading the day DD arrives home from school with a moving mop. LOL at your DS's rather blase approach to the problem though!

Caitni have a fun night away in Cork!

Am feeling slightly zombie-like today myself as I've spent 2 hours out of each of the past 2 nights staring at the ceiling, unable to sleep. I'm suddenly unable to drop off again after getting up to wee Last night I actually got out of bed, made a bowl of cereal (was also starving) and watched an old episode of Location Location Location. Have invested in a book light today, so if it happens again I've got the option of getting on with reading Harry Potter without waking up DH!

MummyElk · 06/11/2009 15:50

AFternoon all
I've been more or less a professional lurker here for a while, have been regularly following you but didn't have anything interesting to say/was just simply too knackered to write. Anyway am back now.
BPM yuk you poor thing i had them whilst travelling (bloody hostels) and only really found out as the Canadian hairdresser stopped mid-cut and then refused to do the other half till i was 'clean'!!! . so embarrassing and also, they are flipping itchy aren't they?
SEX - can't be arsed. I know that makes me a terrible wife but really, just cannot be bothered. Have even been so awful as to wake up as DH, er..sorts himself out...and grumpily suggested he does it in the shower so that the bed doesn't shake [bad wife emoticon]. However saying that we did have a quickie the other morning which was a) surprisingly lovely and b) made DHs day.
But reading that back I do realise that's awful of me, I just can't get in the mood at ALL.....

On a more selfish note...can anyone suggest good maternity jeans? I don't know if my body shape has changed since the last time but my current H&M ones keep falling off my arse...(And was it sariska with the lovely green dress - where please was it from? I don't think i can find that bit of the thread again. Twas so lush)

Hope everyone is ok - sarah and manda I was suitably impressed by both your stories, and hope you are both on the mend asap!! SPDers I hope that also eases slightly...I do feel like i've been kicked down there by a horse but pretty sure that's not SPD and just ligament pain??
I've left someone off I'm sure - apologies

hecklephone · 06/11/2009 15:58

mummyelk the best maternity jeans I've got just now are these from Next. They're comfy, a nice colour and they stay up. Unlike another pair I bought from Dorothy Perkins which look great but I find myself hoiking them up every five minutes! these I have also tried on recently and have the comfiest bump band at the top - but didn't look right for me. They might suit you though?

LaTristesse · 06/11/2009 16:20

Afternoon all,
Nothing like a tedious afternoon at work to instigate the move from lurker to participant...
Wanted to bookmark this page as I'm also a March '10 Mama (first time, and feeling a little too laidback perhaps, although that's not to say I'm not without my fair share of niggly little issues they don't tell you about in the books - and the long-awaited 'glow' hasn't arived yet either!)
Anyway, hellooo waves...
x

Evening ladies, I am knackered and sooooo gled it's Friday (I will try not to think about how busy a weekend we have planned at the mo..). My work/life balance is clearly not well balanced at present .

Hello, to all newcomers! Great to see this thread is growing, not just in girth but also in numbers !

Manda, you poor thing! I've been there as well with PP, was in hospital for 5 weeks before DS2's premature emCS delivery. Hope everything will turn out ok, and this placenta behaves itself and moves itself out of the way. Here's hoping!

And sex? What is sex?? Nope, certainly no desire to do it here ...

I am off to have my dinner before I fall off my perch but will checking in again.

dana4nyc · 06/11/2009 21:17

Hi everyone!! I'm another newbie. I'm 20+4 today and just found out yesterday that we're having a GIRL!!! Due 23 March 2010 and looking forward to chatting with all of you and sharing experiences!!

Arcadie · 07/11/2009 09:13

2 more days until my scan do daaaah do daaaaah....... Finally going to relent and get maternity clothes down from the loft today.

Arcadie · 07/11/2009 09:13

And welcome Dana4nyc enjoy the thread. Mostly we're discussing just how much sex "Manda" has!!!!!

MummyElk · 07/11/2009 10:25

WAVES at everyone new or not

Thanks heckle for those suggestions, both look lovely, will suss them out..

Had a horrible moment last night where I told DH to read the MN talk roundup email (cos I thought it was quite funny)...he ummed and ahhed and then said - is it something about sex? I dashed across the room and, er, no, it was open on this page with my latest addition to the thread
Still i'm not sure he read it all and he still loves me this morning so can't be all bad.
PLUS i know we were talking a while back about really vivid dreams? They came back to get me last night, i can't quite tell you the exact details (too rude ) but it might explain my lack of sex drive? I must be living it all out in dreamland?!!!

Watching SAturday Kitchen, DH and DD are out walking the dog....

annamama · 07/11/2009 12:34

BPM - at least your DS will always have a snack available when you're out and about! You gotta look at it from the bright side... Hope you get rid of them soon!

Caitni - hope you're having a good time in Cork!

MummyElk - at your DH possibly reading your post! Oh well even if he did, it wasn't anything he didn't already know... Of course he still loves you!

My DH is on high blood pressure pills since about 6 months ago, I think they might be affecting his sex drive, that's what some people say when I googled it before. I think it's good as I don't want sex all the time anyway! But now he's having this op in Dec for a clogged kidney artery, which might be the reason for his high BP. So if he comes off the pills... I might have to be a good wife more often!

Heckle - those Next jeans look really cool! And not too expensive. My under the bump jeans always fall down and the over the bump ones are still too big. I prefer sweat pants but when leaving the house I don't wanna look like a chav so have to put jeans on and then hoist them up every 2 mins.

And more newbies - HI!

I'm sitting here nervously waiting for a 2nd viewing of our house at 1 o'clock! DH is away and agent is not coming this time so it's just me and DD. Oh I hope they want to buy it!!! Fingers crossed for me please...

OP posts:
Arcadie · 07/11/2009 15:59

Be proud of me ladies. I have finally finally unpacked my maternity clothes and am looking forward to the big H&M Mama jeans snugly caressing my spare tyre beautifully proportioned baby bump.
