hi all!
Whoever is next to scan (bulletproof??) and find out - add me to the surprise list please!! Scan was great, baby curled in a tight little ball and then stretched out a bit, I couldn't see much from the sex point of view but we didn't want to know anyway...Gut instinct though..at present...is I think it's a boy. I don't know why.
STILL feels a bit unreal? Should I be bonding properly by now? I don't know, just the weeks are going past so fast, and we're so busy/preoccupied with DD, I don't know?! I'm excited though, just feels a bit strange!

there was something else i was going to say....
um...
Oh siamese i LOVE LOVE LOVE the dress and I'm sorely tempted myself!! Such a lovely colour....major dress envy.
Part of me wants to go to primark this avo and get some cheap knits (am loving my old maternity leggings) but not sure i have the energy....

bluey big sympathy on the work front, nice to know i'm not alone (though of course it would be better if neither of us felt like this at all in the first place!!) my DH was also suitably supportive though sensibly didn't let me near the remote !! FBCs were lovely, very high spec. lush lush lush scillies.

Any more scannees today? Good luck Bullet

evitas · 30/10/2009 14:54

Dear all,

I'm new in this forum and I just would like to say hi.
I'm expecting my first baby (a baby boy) on 6th of March.

Have a lovely weekend
xxx

PacificWerewolfwoohood · 30/10/2009 15:11

Hi, evitas , welcome to the thread!

March is a fab time to have a baby: you are not huge in the summer when it's temperate hot, you have mat leave in the spring/summer and at least you can listne to the birds sing when you are up at silly o'clock doing a feed . All 4 of mine will have been born in March, that aspect of having them was NOT planned, but that's how it worked out...

scarysarahandco · 30/10/2009 15:23

welcome Evitas, and congrats on your baby boy, welcome to our thread!¬!!!

congrats to everyone else who have had good scans too!! cannot believe how many of us there are!!!

Pacific, hope your household gets well soon and you and your washing machine both get some rest!!!!!! lets hope you dont get the bug when your dh is working! get well xxx

Mummyelk- you are very welcome to come over and give me a hand with my DD in plaster from her armpits to her feet in the last trimester!!!eeeeekkkkk how will i cope!!!!! i am sure if there are two of us crying about it and telling my dh how hard it is he might know i am not exagerating!!! i am so worried about it but will get thru and its only 12 long weeks!!!!
i keep looking at her and thinking its so not fair she is totally unaware and i am sure she will breeze thru as she is that sort of child but its going to be so frustrating for her,

hope those with bad spd are doing ok, i get some pain if been walking alot or stood for any period of time but so far all good here, am hoping it stays that way too as i would never manage DD afer her operation!!

birth pans- well my two previous births have been very quick(DS waters broke 03-30am, contrations started 1pm delivered at 3-22pm after being in delivery for a whole 22 mins!!!!- DD waters broke 10-30 pm, contrations started around midnight- they went from every 6mins to every 30 secs in about 10 mins!!!!ambulance arrived at 2-50am as i could feel head and delivery suite were worried about and unplanned hb (this weas my wish but bp was up)- we were blue lighted in and she was born by 3-30am- only gas air both times- i would like the same again please!!!LOL minus the paramedics who looked terrified! and tbh would not change a thing my worst case scenario would be a section as i would hate to be able to do nothing at all and obv the recovery is such pita- imho- but what will be will be

Sorry for such a huge rambling post!!!!!! anyone who is still reading thanks!!!!LOL

happy halloween for tomorrow everyone!!!LOL

Scan was all fine! Decided to go for a surprise - first I convinced myself it was a boy, then a girl and then realised that I don't have a clue

Hello! There are so many messages here, I hope I've replied to the people I meant to reply to.... TLC waves hello to everyone else.

Manda I'm studying social work (it's a bloody nightmare, but strangely enjoyable). As for the cartwheels, I'd love to be able to do those, but even pre-pregnancy I couldn't manage them!

Siamese that dress looks lovely! I'm going to a wedding on 28 Nov and no idea what I'm going to wear, as all my pre-pregnancy clothes won't go over my bump! Trying to save my money and don't really want to buy anything. So a friend of mine who is a heavier girl than me is bringing some of her party clothes round to mine for me to try on I'm sooooo glad she didn't take offence when I asked her!!!!

anna yes I'm still wearing 'normal' size 12 clothes, but with the trouser button undone to allow my bump to sit out.

It's my 25th birthday tomorrow! Woohoo! I love Halloween, and I can't wait to see what everyone has bought me.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

Gangle · 30/10/2009 15:56

Can I also join? I am 19 weeks today, due date is 26th March and at the 15 week scan the sonographer said it looks like a boy! We already have DS1, 19 months. Feeling humungously fat already but not much of a bump at all!

MandaHugNKill · 30/10/2009 17:12

OOooh, TLC what a co-incidence - I used to administer the DipSW, MA and BA in social work at Brunel! So I have some idea of what is expected (and to be honest, I was shocked when I realised that with many assignments (even exams) ONLY 40% is a pass! When you consider how key a social worker can be in any given 'needy' situation, you'd hope you didn't get one who scraped through on all 40%'s... that said, I do recognise that there are some people for whom academia isn't a strong point but will be fantastic in the field, so...)

I think you're making the right choice to defer for a year though.

Hello to evitas and gangle! Congrats on your pregnancies!

MandaHugNKill · 30/10/2009 17:15

Oh, and TLC a birthday on Halloween?! Happy Birthday, you witch!

(I'd seriously love my birthday to be Halloween! As it is, it's just a couple of weeks later )

scooby26 · 30/10/2009 20:38

Hi Evita and Gangle - Welcome.

Lounging with my feet up watching crap on the TV having realised that there is absolutely nothing I HAVE to do this weekend. What a fab prospect - doing nothing for a whole 72 hrs!!! May even make it for a swim!!

Hope you all also have a restful weekend. x

ahedgehogisdueinMarch · 30/10/2009 21:14

Evening all,

I have read and tried to digest but I def have pg brain coz all I can remember is that some people are still not in Maternity Clothes - I have been in mine since 8 weeks and today we had dress down at work so I looked 'Proper Pregnant' rather than 'flat' said by one of my single colleagues!!

I am planning on starting ML 15th Feb and now have to decide what to do about my CM because I currently work FT 9 - 5 and DH works 4 nights a week 9 - 7 so need ML this time round will not be about me relaxing - I shall be tiptoeing around but do I want to do it with DS or not?!?!

Welcome to the newbies.

Oh and I have requested to join the facebook group.

Enjoy your weekends - tomorrow I shall be braving town again so DH can get some sleep and DS can get some more bubblebath!!

scooby26 · 30/10/2009 21:52

Bluey- i get my holiday entitlement jan to dec so i can take anytime in 2010. As i get paid 2 do very little while i get fatter i see little point if finishing work and wasting what little pay i will get to have my feet up at home.i only work a 15 min drive from home. Id rather take my holidays in november and december meaning that il be off then but getting paid cos its holiday. May be knackered at 39 wks but they cant stop me apparantly so thats the plan if i can manage. The longer i last the more time i can afford after birth on crappy smp! Sarah-way to go,can i have your instruction book for my baby to read before he plans a two day labour!

Arcadie · 31/10/2009 09:56

Hi Hedgehog! Have confirmed you on the FB group.

Pingpong · 31/10/2009 10:51

Hi ladies old and new
Been away on holiday and loads to read since I've been away. Lots of scans and lots of good scan results I've added my name to the surprise list.
I'm 23w+1 and am STILL being sick MW just said some women are sick all the way through. It's not all the time just fairly random, 10.30pm, 8.30am whatever.)
I asked my MW for a debrief on DDs birth as my consultant just wrote plan for VBAC on my notes and shoved me out the door. I felt a bit fobbed off and thanks to another MN thread I discovered that asking for a debrief is perfectly acceptable so I've got a consultant appointment on Thursday and they will have my notes so we can go through it all (emcs even though I got to 10cm and DD was stuck).
I only started wearing maternity stuff around now with DD but I've been in it for quite a few weeks now and think I'll need more to see me through as normal clothes just don't seem to be covering me although I'm also a bit fan of bump bands or boob tubes to cover the gap.
Sadly my waterproof jacket for dog walking is only just meeting over the bump so that lovely yellow thing off ebay might have to be purchased - that or a poncho

Morning all!
I still feel a bit unreal about the whole thing - I thought a few weeks ago that I was totally prepared, but now I've realised that I'm not really thinking about it in real terms - DH reminded me the other day that I would definitely not be helping out with DS's school trip at the beginning of April, and I've got to go and take my name off the list when they go back to school! I think that I'm aware that the babies are there, but I'm not thinking about their impact IYSWIM?
Annamama and Hecklephone, it's really nice having two girls, particularly if they're close in age. There are four years between DD1 and DD2, but they still played together, even if they weren't as close as some of yours will be. Actually, having said that, DD2 and DS have always been much closer, but there's a smaller age gap between them, so I suppose it doesn't really matter what you have!
I'm having a lazy morning this morning watching DH and some of his friends, and the DC, trying to put up the marquees in the garden for the Halloween Party later. I've got to go and hollow twenty pumpkins in a minute, so that the DC can start carving them, and then I've got to go and start making non-alcoholic punch for the children, and slightly more alcoholic punch for the adults ! Thank goodness we've got caterers doing the food - I did it myself once - never again!
Hope you all have nice Halloweens (or non-Halloween Saturdays, for those who don't celebrate!). . .

PennyScotia · 31/10/2009 13:56

Hi folks,

Thank you for the welcomes

Yes, Arcadie I am PH on Facebook - I was going to be here but there already is someone with that name.

I'm 20 weeks today and it's scary how quickly the time is going in! Although my MW did give me a look of 'yeah, you say that now but just wait till you're at the end'

MandaHugNKill · 31/10/2009 14:29

Totally with you on that surreal 'I know this is real, but in denial about the reality' feeling...

Not necessarily denial as such... Hmm. Maybe it's that as we're already Mums we KNOW you can't really plan for how it's gonna be when they arrive - you sorta have to be prepared to go with the flow.

So, advice from you ladies if you don't mind/have an opinion. In my area I've been noticing the last couple of weeks that every single buggy/pram has the same symbol on it (since prams/buggys have now crept into my consciousness). I've discovered the symbol of choice is the Bugaboo.

I was then horrified shocked to discover just the base/carry cot is in the region of £700 - that's without the obligatory 'fabric' at £90 footmuff at similar, raincover, parasol etc etc...

I guess what I'd like to know is are they 'good' or are they simply fashionable (probably just BECAUSE of the price if I know the people in my area)? I'm ashamed to admit I think I want one just because everyone else has one... I don't wanna be that mum at the mother and baby group who doesn't seem to 'get it', y'know? (jesus, writing that makes me sound needy and paranoid. I'm not, really. I'm usually strong willed and don't give a flying monkey what's 'in')

Anyhoo, opinions?

GhostlyPixieOnaPumpkin · 31/10/2009 16:15

Hmm. . .Tricky one, Manda - We went for the Silver Cross pram because we love it, and have heard that they are really comfortable, but I've heard that the Bugaboo is not really worth it (although this might not be the general opinion) - maybe you could buy it from Ebay to save some money? You can normally get pretty good deals.
I think, though, that not everybody has one, it's just that people who have them tend to 'push them with pride' (maybe it's a PFB thing - first one gets £700 Bugaboo, second gets £300 Silver Cross and third one gets £10 Carboot Sale bargain?!) - maybe go to a showroom and see which you feel most comfortable pushing/which works best for you, instead of just buying on a name?
I think that I probably am in denial - it's probably my brain's last ditch attempt at saying 'Don't do it, Pixie, you know what you're letting yourself in for, I though we'd finished with all that 6 years ago!"?!

ilovegreenbeans · 31/10/2009 17:42

Manda- I LOVE my bugaboo. Have not needed anything else, goes everywhere. Best baby purchase I made. Buy it on Ebay. Definitely.

dana4nyc · 31/10/2009 19:11

Hi all! I'm another newbie here, will be 20 wks this coming Tues (3rd Nov) and will be going for my scan on 5th Nov!! Due 23rd March!! Just wanted to say hello!

PacificWerewolfwoohood · 31/10/2009 19:26

Evening, All, I'll not join the pram discussion as I am so glad I will not have to agonise over that one with this baby ! All I will say is our first "big" pram was a Mutsy Urban Rider, v comfortable for baby, built like a tank, goes off-road no problem - but too heavy and big for everyday use once they are past that immediate newborn stage. Have been a McLaren fan ever since...

Anyway, we are still a house of D+V although overall better, thank goodness, and last night everybody got a good sleep. Bedtime is in progress just now and whilst DH wrestles with them in the bath I get to MN !

Hello, all newbies! Apologies for not replying with names, I am hopeless with names at the best of times, please take no notice. Preg brain in not helping either...

Some cute trick or treaters have been, and DS1 who is well again went out with daddy to a couple of neighbours. Our Jack o'lantern is fab, v spooky with the lights off. And DS1 drew some ghosts and pumpkins, cut them out and hung them up with sticky tape as there was no other decorations . Next year maybe....

ahedgehogisdueinMarch · 01/11/2009 10:05

Morning All,

Mini rant about inconsiderate people letting off fireworks at 2.45am. Woke DS up,luckily DH was working so he came in with me

On the sickness - I was sick from 6weeks with DS1 and am still being sick now @ 22 weeks with this one.

Pushcairs - I have an old style mothercare my3 (not the maxicosi one) which is my walking/off roading pushchair which we have got a lot of use out of. I also have a techo xt which lives in the boot of the car and goes on holidays etc. I am looking at the Phil and Teds once this one comes along as a side by side 3 wheel double (which is what I want) won't fit in the car and I definitely can't afford a new one of those!!

Keep your eyes open in the supermarkets now for cheap hallowean costumes for next year - from DH as he works for one of the large supermarkets - He is all about saving money!!

Awww, IWCAS, that is soooo nice how excited you are. And also, do let your parents help you out. Grandchildren do funny things to grandparents . Is this your mum's first GC? She will be all mushy and emotional about it, even if the circumstances are not Hollywood ideal.
I am absolutely drowning in boy's clothes, even have gift from DS3's birth that still have their tags on - yet I still had to go and get a very adorable baby grow for this one . Nevermind, he deserves something new, poor No 4..

Hope you all have a nice Sunday, we are still chilling and food seems to be mainly clear liquid with the occasional drop of chicken soup...
