HcG Levels

hullo! have posted this on pregnancy board too but just wanted to cover all bases...

I am about 7 weeks pg with #1 following a missed m/c in Feb 05.

Where I live they cannot offer an early scan which I don't mind so much since an early scan would not have picked up any problem with my last pg anyway as the baby died at 8 and a half weeks and was detected at 11 weeks.

I am going in next week to have blood taken to see if my HcG levels are doubling - anyone else taken this route?

I had this done recently at 5 weeks but my levels came up quite high and so they decided it would be quicker just to do a scan.

Lots of people have this done as opposed to scans.

Your HCG levels should double within 48 hours but as there is such a range of HCG levels, the figure will not help you much. Just knowing that it doubles means your pregnancy is going well

Horseshoe,
Can you advise re this?
I had a test today that gave my count as 154. I "should" be 6+5 but my early scan (following bleeding) doesn't show anything. I have to go back on Weds to have me levels checked again but the midwife said the 154 was low. Is that low in general or low for my supposed dates? (the other scenario may be that I am less far on - though I think it unlikely) Just wondered if you had any more info re this.
Thanks

All I can say is that my M/W took my blood instead of scan as at the time I was only 5+3. She said that anything with levels under 1500 could not be picked up by the scan. Mine came back at 5000 and so she sent me for a scan but she still couldn't see baby only a sac and so have to go back this thursday when I'm 7+4

According to this list you can still be 20 days past OV and get a count of 154. basing on that you have a 28 days cycle and OV on day 14 this would put you about 5 weeks. But you could of OV later anyway would would change your dates. Let me know hoe you get on but I will be checking Jan thread too.

I did have a slight bleed at 4 weeks this time round.

I'm really hoping everything is OK for you

Horseshoe,
Many thanks for this! I'm just not sure how I could be any less pregnant - don't think it's physically possible.
But I'll know more tomorrow. Thanks in the meantime. Much appreciated.
