Welcome, shiregirl and congrats. I am spotty of skin and bushy of hair. Mmmmh, pregnancy glow where are you?

Good idea on the maternity clothes, watercress.

Have updated the list with my now earlier due date as the dating scan puts me a week ahead. Which means I must have conceived ten days before we started trying (hmm) - still that's what the professionals have told me.

Watercress - I had the same idea about ebay last night and bid on a few things but didn't get them, we're probably all outbidding each other!

Mawbroon - the wrap style slings were the ones DS wasn't too keen on, plus he was born in summer so I used to be boiling if I wore them, might have more luck this time.

I just made some hobnobs and forgot to put the sugar in so they are horrible, mushy pregnancy brain! Luckily DS seems to like them.

Hello to the new people!

LovelyMonster · 02/09/2009 18:42

Hi everyone,

Welcome new girls (esp T4tastic due date buddy!).

Hope all is well and sorry to those who are still suffering with ms.

I have just had a monster hunger attack. Called in at supermarket on the way home and bought so much junk food its not funny. Now feel sick and faced with having to cook dinner! Funny I have not had the major munchies since about week 11. Just so happens that it is coinciding with getting a little bump. Maybe baby is having a growth spurt and wants some junk food!!

On a plus I have not had a headache for a week (have not really worked for a week either....)

My hypnotherapy book arrived today. Its the newest addition and aside from being extremely americanized it looks quite good!

monster love to all.

watercress · 02/09/2009 20:46

No ebaying from me ktpie! I bought a maternity coat on there in August (figuring that nobody else would be looking at that time of year) and am pretty much sorted otherwise. I'm the youngest in my family, so have so many hand-me-downs, it isn't even funny. Maternity clothes in a wide variety of sizes, boxes of baby clothes... I'm very lucky (if you don't mind sorting through things, which I don't).

Lovelymonster, I also have an eating disorder at the moment. I can't stop! So hungry all the time. And I also have bushy hair like OldestCat. Much more Slummy Mummy than Yummy Mummy!

grin · 02/09/2009 22:08

Me too with the food intake. I am eating my own (increasing) body weight in food daily. Currently anything potatoey...yesterday's left over roast potatoes were AMAZING today. Welcome new people and glad to hear people are perking up a bit. Here we have spots and frizzy hair, mmmm attractive...

ktpie · 03/09/2009 10:09

I seem to be going for savoury food at the moment, spend a lot of time wandering round the kitchen trying to find the perfect snack but failing to find anything I really fancy, probably a good thing.

Good plan about the coat Watercress, that is on my list of things I need.

Lovelymonster - I had a hypnotherapy book which was very American, most of it was great but some chapters seemed to go off into slightly odd territory!

Clappedout · 03/09/2009 11:27

Winter coat, good call watercress, I hadn't even considered that one yet!

Starting to feel less zombie-like though I daren't say it in case I revert to the catatonic state I've been in for the last 4 months. Glad some of you are feeling better too.

I am trying to find a hypnotherapy course in east london without much success. I haven't tried it before and hoping it will help me avoid blood pressure problems I had last time. Any suggestions welcome...also trying acupunture, first session tonight.

Glynnispig · 03/09/2009 12:31

Hi all

Feeling quite good at the moment, although I woke up with an enormous spot on my chin! Never really got spots before!

Hope everyone is feeling well. Am also starting to get the munchies!

Does anyone on here live on the Isle of Wight?

Hi All,

I'm back!! I had a lovely holiday and pregnancy wise all is going well apart from terrible back pain.

I hope everyone is ok, sorry I will try to catch up but I have no idea where to start!

I had my midwife appointment today and baby was doing well, and I have my physio appointment tomorrow.

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 03/09/2009 14:20

Hi Everyone. How's everyone feeling? I can't pooooooooooooo I do have a maternity coat though. Not very thick, and no hood, but I just like it. My mum bought me it last week. I intend on wearing it all the time.

We are totally skint at the moment, so I can't buy anything else and I'm desperate for some work clothes. And some normal clothes, too actually.

I'm really exhausted today. Could just cry. Came home from work but I'm in all day tomorrow.

DH wants to get me a 4D scan for xmas which I won't object to, so looking forward to that. Has anyone got a clearly pregnant bump at mo? I've got a bump but it's a 'is she fat or pregnant?' bump.

mawbroon · 03/09/2009 14:49

No bump here totallyandutterlypaninied. I just look fat so far... but I kind of looked a bit large of stomach before anyway, so no change there!

I have a kindercoat which I used for when I carried DS on my back. It also has an extra panel for zipping in the front to accommodate front carrying, so I will use that for my winter coat. It has a detachable fleece inner, so it is one of those three in one jobs IYKWIM here's a pic Unfortunately, there only seemed to be one stockist of them in the UK, which is no longer trading, but I would really recommend it to anyone interested in babywearing. They are expensive, but I would say mine was worth every penny with ds, and now it's going to get another outing with this one, right from bump, probably until about age three.

I haven't felt sick today, which seems to be the pattern of things at the moment. I have a couple of good days, then I feel bleugh, just when I thought I was over it!!

flyingcloud · 03/09/2009 14:57

Hello everyone,

I too suffer on and off from headaches, but I think it's partly to do with my appetite - sometimes in the desperation of looking for something to eat I eat half a packet of chocolate biscuits. I made chocolate chip cookies for DH (as he likes to snack on them while at work and his work is very physical so I make big batches for him to take in his car) but the big batch has been whittled down into a very small batch...

I have a very obviously noticeable bump - and it's my first (can't use any more blush emoticons!)!! I started to get people asking me outright when I was expecting a full three weeks ago (at about 15 weeks!) I can't fit into any normal trousers and even DH's shirts are looking a bit tight, especially the slim fitting ones (although he is smaller than me and is particularly slim at the moment

I am going shopping on Saturday as I really need some smart work clothes and some smart winter clothes (for work, otherwise I would lounge about in the clothes I already have). I particularly need tights as my old tights are way too uncomfortable around the waist. My work requires me to be very smartly dressed (when I'm not working from home, in which case I'm slobbing in very chilled clothing) and I also have to work outdoors a lot of the time so I have a much needed shopping trip due.

Other than that I feel great and I keep counting down the weeks and days until due date (although I'm 99% sure I have it wrong). I have had a few friends in the last year or so who have all been three or four weeks early! One friend who gave birth last week doesn't have any of the stuff she needs as it was all being delivered the following week!

Hope everyone stays well. x

2Happy · 03/09/2009 15:45

Well I was feling happy that I wouldn't be in mat clothes any earlier than with ds2, but appear to have woken up with a full on pregnant bump this morning . It was just fat/bloaty tummy, but it is bump now. Still fit some loose clothes, so will stick in them for as long as possible. As for winter coats, I shall just steal dh's - unlike you flyingcloud, by dh is handily enormous and his clothes are about all that fit me by the time I'm full term!
Definitely less sick here, still find it hard to find food I fancy eating, and still get terrible waves of nausea, but the constant all day long nausea is definitely improving, thank goodness. Some strong movements too, which is very cute.
Work is really busy and stressful ATM, plus we've 3 new trainees, so lots of time helping them out, which just adds to the workload. I'm trying to decide when to go off on mat leave - went at 36w with ds1 and 34w with ds2 - but they were both 2w late so ended up wasting 2 months of mat leave on feeling fat and miserable!! (Oh I am such a happy pg person ) When is everyone else planning on finishing?

mawbroon · 03/09/2009 15:51

I am finishing at Christmas 2happy. I will only be around 30weeks or so, but seems better that way than having mindees back for a couple of weeks in January.

I don't know if I will go back to childminding tbh, so it's probably not maternity leave as such for me, IYSWIM

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 03/09/2009 16:18

I'm going to stop at 36 or 37 weeks which is late for me as last time I stopped at 29 weeks and loved the time to myself. But I was swapping jobs so kind of had to to get the benefit of the maternity pay. This time I shall be skint.

watercress · 03/09/2009 16:27

I'm planning to stop at Christmas as well, but with annual leave etc my mat leave won't start until mid-January, so only four weeks before my due date. And the midwives and doctors (never get to see the same person twice here!) are muttering about doing my elective section a bit early, so I might not have as much time as I hope for!

I'm definitely bumpy now, and have dug out much of my old maternity garb. It's quite nice that people are seeing that I'm pregnant and not just fat, but I do wonder how big I'll get!

Who mentioned potatoes? I am lowing potatoes at the moment. And cheese. And popcorn. And toast. And sour fizzy sweets.

Apologies to anyone still feeling sick!

Paninied, you sound blue. Hope you're feeling better?

fiziwizzle · 03/09/2009 17:02

I'm stopping work at Christmas too, as I can take all my holiday for 2010 in January and then start ML in February. I really can't wait to stop working - I can't concentrate at all, at the moment. And I'm so looking forward to having some time to myself before the baby arrives. He/she better not be early (will I be cursing those words when the time comes?!).

I'm having trouble fitting into my normal clothes (esp jeans - painful!) but don't really have a bump as such, it just looks like I've been at the pies, which i have, TBH. I've already bought a couple of pairs of maternity jeans from ebay in my pre-preg size but they've come up ENOURMOUS so at the moment I'm denimless. Hmm, and I live in jeans.

I can't seem to stop eating - I've developed an insanely sweet tooth and am stuffing down chocolate, cake, biscuits.... Then I read the pregnancy books' advice on weight gain and I feel awful Then carry on eating.

I THINK I'm feeling movement... It's my first so not sure. Hope so!!

Apparently I'm the only person in the whole wide mumsnet world due on the 15th . I don't know whether to feel special or left out .

Had my 16 week appointment today. I was very disspointed because the midwife didn't re-weigh me, despite the other midwife saying I was overweight. And I lost 1.5kg!! And she used a needle the size of a drainpipe to steal take my blood. . (I was very tempted to put '1yr bunny, 10mth kitten' next to my name )

grin · 03/09/2009 21:07

Hello all

Defintite bump here, egged on by potato consumption (that was me, watercress) but there's no hiding the pregnantness of me now. Good to hear everyone is as hungry as me - perhaps this is an actual phase? Can't remember from last time. I was feeling movement for a few days and then haven't for a few days. Started to feel a bit wobbly about it so borrowed my friend's Doppler and heard heartbeat nicely tonight so that's better. Back to work tomorrow (teacher) - a whole day of sitting still as it's INSET, that'll be a challenge!

re clothes, got the stuff from www.affordablematernity.co.uk/ - v quick and efficient. Lovely lady too, v helpful. Have all the old maternity clothes out again and msking the most of the fact that current trend is for long line tops - got a vest top in Dorothy Perkins for £5 which will do me.

mawbroon · 04/09/2009 10:01

I just remember last time I was starving ALL THE TIME. i couldn't stop eating and piled on something like 3.5stones. And, then when I started breastfeeding, I was EVEN HUNGRIER!!!

I ate like a horse, and the 2.5stones I was left to shed after ds was born just disappeared without me having to do anything.

This time round though, I am not that hungry at all and just don't have the cravings for the junk that I did last time. Hopefully it will stay that way!!

Clappedout · 04/09/2009 11:11

Major comfort eating going on here, lots of stews and last night made a huge cauliflower cheese, mmmm. DH is loving this burst of domestic goddess behaviour, most out of character I have to add.

I had to stop work at 8 months last time as I was ill with blood pressure and had a nasty boss but this time I want to save it til later if possible to make the most of time after the birth and hang out with both of them a bit more. Having daydreams about doing lots fo travel with them but know the reality will be a bit more mundane...house hunting more urgent!
