Just added myself back in after the list seems to have gone a bit mad this week! Saw Zoe Ball on a Channel Five trailer earlier, her bump looked massive pretty big - I think she is due Feb 2010 too? Feeling inadequate now

I start NCT classes on Tuesday. Had to join a Dec/Jan babies group as only one available in my area so I will be the last one to have my baby - oh no! Will have to hear everyone else's scary birth stories then have all eyes on me for about a month...ga! Unless of course they are all too busy with tiny newborns to care??!! Hmmm

hi guys,
glad to hear everyones scans are going well, sorry to hear about SPD and sending up thoughts to all with low lying placentas.

Some one was asking about hypnobirthing
i am doing a 18 hour course which is basically an hour a week for the duration of my pregnancy. it is a persoanlised caourse for me and dh and i am loving it.
We have dones lots of debrief about last 2 births and are just moving on to self hypnosis, pain managemnet, and DH hypnonitising me!!

i already feel more prepared and looking forward to the birth. So i would highly reccomend getting as much as you can afford whether it just be a book, classes or personalised sessions.

We knew the hypnotist already as i had sold his wife nappies and my husband gave up smoking with him 2 years ago. It is great beacause it is such a holistic approach.

Anyone started their birth plans yet it has been on my mind but am yet to put pen to paper.

I;ve gone as well - just as I had reappeared too!!

Oh dear, i've disappeared too! Can't believe I'm the only 12th of Febber still - the valentines thing is clearly a conspiracy!

Raindrop I really don't have a clue about this birth plan thing!!! Basically in my head it's pretty much just "have baby - get throught it with both of us intact". Oh dear! I'm not even sure what sort of stuff needs to go in there! Any tips for 1st timers?

Hello lovely ladies. I have to admit to not keeping more of an eye on this thread and now there are 27 pages!!

Glad everyone is doing well and all those of us with a toddler are still alive!!

I weighed myself today and have gained a stone.....eak feels like 10 stone! How much have you all gained so far?

raindroprhyme I would worry my DH would leave me hypnontised!!

PinguCarrier · 23/10/2009 13:15

OMG you have all been busy! Thanks to all for the hyono comments and to raindroprhyme for the course feedback. Think I'm gonna go for it, simply because I'm a little nervous (scared shitless emoticon) and anything that can make me less scared can only be a good thing right?

So glad that the twins comment is so common, defnitely up for going with the punching thing - hey, if you can't blame it on hormones now, when can you? I mean, do people realise how rubbish it sounds when they tell you how huge you are when there is still so long to go?

I'm still pretty small (was tiny before), but look like I've swallowed a horse and have put on 2 and a half stone already! Isn't the next bit when you're supposed to do all the growing?? anymore and I'll fall over!

Will check out the swing coat thing, sounds good, was gonna fork out for a maternity coat, but the one I like is £80 (typical) and I could buy so much chocolate for that.

Catch you all soon x

tryingtobemarypoppins · 23/10/2009 13:18

Pingu where is the link for a swing coat?? Sorry!

GuernseyFrench · 23/10/2009 13:31

Tryingtobemarypoppins I'm 23+5 and I have put on 6kg which is (I think just under 1 stone)

woowa · 23/10/2009 15:39

tryingtobemarypoppins i didn't link to a swing coat, just said that they are a good style for pregnant people (i bought mine in TKMaxx) because they have a few buttons at the top then are open - i've started tying awool pashmina round bump on extra cold days as it does let the air in a bit (though i dont feel cold at all in it). It beats buying a temporary maternity coat because I can keep wearing it afterwards too. They seems to be all over the place in shops.

Hope that's helpful!

woowa · 23/10/2009 15:41

And I dread to think how much weight i've put on - i'm 24+1 and last time i checked it was nearly a stone - but since then I've got bigger and heavier - clothes tighter and getting off the sofa is getting stupidly hard!!

FluffyCoo · 23/10/2009 16:05

I totally refuse to weigh myself! I've always had real issues with my weight, so I've thrown my bathroom scales away and have never been happier!
I think I'm approximately the size of a hippo at the moment, If I need to go to hospital once I go into labour they may actually need to knock down a wall and forklift me out of my house, like they did with that bloke off Jerry Springer...

pyjamababe · 23/10/2009 19:21

Glad to hear it FluffyCoo. I am not weighing myself either. I think it's good advice. What is it going to achieve apart from depressing you? Haven't actually thrown my scales away but I am going to put them under the spare bed where I can't possibly get to them until my massive stomach/arse have shrunk enough to let me crawl back under. Ha Ha

tryingtobemarypoppins · 23/10/2009 21:07

FluffyCoo you post just reminded me how important pelvic floor exercises are!

Many thanks woowa! off shopping tomorrow!

woowa · 24/10/2009 15:19

I have been surprised not to be weighed by every midwife, but apparently they don't do that anymore?

I am having consultant led care due to a kidney issue i have, and everytime I see my kidney consultant (every month from now til end ofpregnancy SO MUCH SITTING IN WAITING ROOMS) I have to be weighed :-( I would have collapsed with surprise last time if I wasn't on one of those sitting down scales! But I was wearing shoes and clothes, so I'm sure that accounts for a few extra kilos!

other than that, not being weighed.

FluffyCoo · 25/10/2009 08:55

PMSL at pjbabe, marypoppins and woowa!

Love the idea of stashing stuff away where it is physically impossible to get at - henceforth all credit card bills and chocolate biscuits will be stored below knee level!

The only "advantage" I have if a healthcare pofessional insists in weighing me, is that kilos don't mean a damn thing to me - I'm strictly an old-money kind of girl when it comes to bodyweight and I just can't be bothered to do the maths! Unless the person weighing me were to express horror, I would just be blissfully unaware...

Ooh, BTW - SHOPPER ALERT! This months issue of Prima Baby mag has loads of discounts off maternity wear babyexpert.com/fashion... I've got a 30% one for M&P's which makes their maternity coat about the same price as the Tesco ones! Yay!

flyingcloud · 25/10/2009 09:18

I get weighed every month too as that's what happens here. Putting on too much weight is frowned upon. I got very upset to begin with but now I just shrug it off. I am also shocked at how many French people ASK me how much weight I've put on during the pregnancy so far. I just give them a look and don't answer. Bloody cheek!!

I am also getting the twins comment and am struggling to conceive how I can get much bigger. Bending over is getting seriously hard to do and in fact painful at times. I get very grumpy with DH for leaving dirty clothes on the floor, because I can hardly pick them up!!

GuernseyFrench · 25/10/2009 12:33

Flyingcloud, I'm like you, I find it more and more difficult to bend over. So what I try to do is to flex the knees and then I get roughly more able to get the stuff on the floor.
But most of the time I bend over as I forget I can't!!

woowa · 25/10/2009 13:59

1 plate and 1 cafetiere. That's what I've broken (so far) today. And coffee everywhere. What is it with pregnancy and spatial awareness? This is driving me nuts. And forgetting words, and not being able to string a proper sentence together. Is this all from lack of sleep (despite extra hour in bed, which basically meant some extra time not being able to sleep)?

Sorry, that was a mini-rant. Am going to watch Emma on BBC iPlayer now and DO NOTHING DANGEROUS OR TAXING ON THE BRAIN.

Grump.

GuernseyFrench · 25/10/2009 14:10

I can't believe it, even my MIL asked me if I was sure of my EDD as she thought I was looking quite big!
I am p*d off!!!! I'm sure it's big I only grow from the belly, I haven't took anything of the sides or face just a proeminent (sp) belly.

Sorry, mini rant but it's driving me nuts!

yummylilmummy · 25/10/2009 15:30

Hey everyone im new here! Im due on 12th Feb and it is goin to be my first! Hope i get the hang of this lol

sunnybump · 25/10/2009 16:53

Hi Yummy and welcome, loads of first times here including me

MIL problems here today too, basically she and DH are both in a foul mood and are winding each other up as only they know how. I'm hiding. Roll on our house being ready... now we just need the plumber to get his finger out this week,

Woowa, sounds like the kitchen is too dangerous right now, much better on the sofa I'm going to quickly run the hoover round then join you in some telly watching.

yummylilmummy · 25/10/2009 17:35

I have found out im having a girl and realy want to start buying all things pink! Is this wise? Or should i stick to most things neutral! My Mum seems to think i should just wait till Jan to start buying then least things can be taken back to the shop and exchanged lol really not sure about this!

flyingcloud · 25/10/2009 17:44

Yummylilmummy - that's my birthday!! Good luck and welcome aboard. I am really hoping for a birthday baby.

I've also caught myself grunting every now and again, such as when trying to park my car, or realising that I've bent over too quickly!

Just a quick question - what is the average gestation period? The EDD I have been given is EXACTLY nine months after the date of conception they gave me (which I am going along with). But this EDD of 15 February is 41+3 - is that normal? I think it's a French thing, but I just want to check.

2Happy · 25/10/2009 20:37

yummylilmummy - just a word of caution. We had two sonographers do ds2's 20w scan and they both said it was a girl. They're always at pains to say they can never be 100% sure, but thankfully we hadn't bought anything or told anyone, so that when we were told it was bollocks (literally) at his 36w scan at least we didn't have to rush out and return lots of stuff, which would have been a nightmare. I don't mean to p*ss on anyone's chips, you'll probably all end up with the predicted flavour, just be aware that they can get it wrong!

mamaloco · 26/10/2009 07:56

Yummy, welcome, a freind was predicted a boy and she just had a little girl last month! Do you really want everything in pink though? You might get sick with it as if you have a girl all presents will be pink anyway...
Flyingcloud in France they give you the "sell by date" usually 42 weeks as that is the date at which they have to intervene. In all other countries, they gave you 40 weeks due date +/- 2 weeks normal, after 42 they induced, so basically the same....
I also have problems bending over and loose balance if I bend my knees, but quite good at picking things with my feet though, so not complaining except for DH leaving everything on the floor (can't pick up tea cups, or beer cans.... with b@$& foot!)
