Mawbroon, I have felt the same thing a couple of times recently, I just supposed it's braxton hicks or something but that's just my guess as it's all new to me.

Good luck with the scan tomorrow Grin and Chinook, hope your LO's are lying the right way

grin · 24/09/2009 21:23

chinook - I feel quite excited you have your scan tomorrow too. I will come back to see how you got on and whether you will have an easier/trickier run of it names-wise! How old is your dd? Hope all goes well tomorrow, enjoy and let me know how it goes! (Oh and hope your cough gets better too )

grin · 24/09/2009 21:24

Thanks sunnybump!

sunnybump · 25/09/2009 08:54

Ok, fess up, is anyone else's bump actually hairy? I'm wondering if I'm going to give birth to a baby or a gorilla!

AngelaCarleen · 25/09/2009 09:46

Me , I think it's there for winter warmth .

I'm getting very excited about seeing my Bean again in six days, I hope everyone elses scans are going well
xx

flyingcloud · 25/09/2009 10:41

Oh Golly - hairybump here too! It might just be the biggest shock of pregnancy to see the, um, fur, on my tum! I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the sex and hormones?

MusicalMummyJules · 25/09/2009 11:33

Hey All,

Hope you're all feeling good and that the scans all went well.

I had a scan a couple of weeks ago and we found out it was a boy which DD is very happy with - now comes the crisis of names as DP likes completely different types of names!

We also had an appointment with the consultant on Wednesday as the general assumption was that it would probably be best to have a planned c-section given the problems in my last labour but that I should be aware that the hospital prefer not to and I should be aware of all the risks - basically making me feel guilty, so I'm really not sure what to do. Anyone else in this predicament?

Still wretching all the time which is not very pleasant!

Clappedout · 25/09/2009 11:44

Hi

MusicalMummyJules-sounds like the hospital covering their back a bit, there seems to be a definite move away from c-sections if at all possible, your choice though I guess.

Anyone got any miracle cures for stretch marks, a puffy face and, oh yes, irrational and entirely random flashes of hatred for dp??? Poor him.

fiziwizzle · 25/09/2009 15:12

I had my 21 week scan today. All looks good We didn't want to find out the flavour and from what I could see, there was no way of telling anyway! I suppose he'd have looked closer if we'd asked him to. Baby wriggling away on the screen but I still can't feel much at all - I wish I could - I'm getting impatient I suppose having anterior placenta doesn't help.

I don't have a hairy belly but it is HUGE now compared to a couple of weeks ago. I have had a few comments along the lines of "you look much further along than 5 months" "are you sure it's due in February?" and I'm starting to feel a little paranoid. Is anyone else growing daily?!

chinook · 25/09/2009 18:45

Definitely growing quickly here too. In fact had my first stranger comment on my 'neat' bump today so at least I look preg now not just fat!

Had my scan today and all is well. Took ages though as HE was moving about so much. I had to go for a walk and have a second go to get all the measurements. Head circumference was small, which in my eyes is particularly important!!

Yes. It's a boy. I think dp and dd have just about forgiven me! Dp just keeps going on about the cost. Think he was hoping to re-use dd's toys and clothes. I am over the moon though. I really like knowing what it is, though it will be hard keeping it a secret.

I have another scan at 36 weeks as the placenta is lying a bit low. I am not worried about this as I think they normally move up and out of the way and it will be lovely to have another scan.

Glad all the other scans have gone well. Grin, how was yours?

2Happy · 25/09/2009 19:40

MMJ - similar-ish here, although think I'm more keen ona VBAC than the consultant , but we've compromised on a late scan for position and we'll make a decision then (basically anything other than LOA and they'll insist in slicing and dicing).

Congrats on all the scans! Totally with you all on the siblings being convinced it's one sex and trying to convince them it might not be!

My belly's hairy too, and I'm definitely going to be in maternity clothes next week - can cope the days I work half a day, but I work long days on Wednesdays and this week I was nearly cut in half by the time I got home!!

mawbroon - everything happens earlier and worse 2nd time round!! But you're maybe right about bfeeding making a difference - it was very noticeable when ds2 was born how strong afterpains were whenever he fed, much worse than ds1.

AngelaCarleen - the vivid dreams can be such fun, or just awful!! Never get anything like it normally!

ktpie - definitely fewer appts here too, nothing with my normal mw from 12w to 24 w (though 2 scans at the hospital between times). I don't really mind tho, it's going so fast I haven't had time to feel abandoned!!

A whole weekend with the ILs beckons (bil's 40th birthday).... why can't we drink in pregnancy???????????

sunnybump · 26/09/2009 11:49

Hi everyone, I'm so glad mine's not the only hairy bump, and it definitely is growing every day. It's kind of filling out and making it more difficult to bend over and shave my legs, thats when I can be bothered trying...

2Happy I can't believe you're only going into Maternity clothes just now! I was glad to get in them as soon as we went public at 12 weeks as everything was so uncomfy. Elastic waistbands rule!

AngelaCarleen my scan is next Thursday too, I'm beginning to get really excited.

MusicalMummyJules sorry to hear you're still wretching. If one other person had recommended Ginger Biscuits to me when my MS was bad I think I would have slapped them. I tried it, it's horrid (unless with prawns in a Chinese - Oh how much do I want the things I'm not allowed). The seasick bands did help me a bit (but feel free to slap me if you've already tried them). Hope it improves soon.

I was a bit worried about cash as we're in the middle of doing up our first owned house which is proving to be a tad expensive but managed to get some excellent baby kit from a few lovely people of freecycle so that's made me less anxious.

I think I may be having a Blooming moment today, not got any aches and pains and actually feel I might have the energy to do something. I like this feeling, long may it last.

Have a lovely weekend everyone
SunnyBump x

grin · 26/09/2009 13:32

Hello all

MMJ - Sorry to hear about your ms and tricky decisions.

chinook - scan all great thanks, healthy little person (yippee) and confirmed that I do have an anterior placenta which put my mind at rest about such different movement to last time. It's definitely frustrating fiziwizzle, I agree! Found out I have a cyst but they're not too worried about that and need to do nothing till after baby's born. After much umming and ahhing we did find out the sex...and looks like DS was wrong! He seems to be taking it in good stead. I'm still getting used to knowing; feels a bit odd knowing already and really I found out for DH (who was keen) and DS. But I think it makes me feels a little more connected to wee one. We're only telling close family so far. So glad yours went well too, thought of you!

sunnybump - am envious of you blooming, long may it last for you! I am still in the land of fuzzy hair and questionable skin. Also good work on the freecycle front, such a great concept itsn't it?

Belly growing here too, am amazed 2Happy that you managed to get away with normal clothes till now!

Have good weekends all .

watercress · 27/09/2009 07:55

Great news on all the scans and MMJ, hope your consultant comes roun d to your way of thinking.

2Hppy, can't beleive you are only just in mat clothes!? I've been in them for ages, but with all the early nausea I found my midriff was very sensituve and I couldn't stand having anything tight around my waist.

I have a definite bump - two people commented and asked for a feel the other day (which I hate). But it's nice to be out of the "has she been piling on the pounds" stage...

Apart from a bit of tiredness, I feel pretty good. So sorry to hear that some of you are feeling rough. I have no sensible advice, just eat what you want when you want and get your partner to do anything that makes you feel ropey (emptying bins etc)!

Take care x

TheOldestCat · 27/09/2009 08:57

Echoing watercress - great news on all these scans.

Still no blooming here (blinking heartburn, am considering buying shares in whoever makes gaviscon), but it's nice not being sick and feeling relatively ok. I'm another one with a huge bump (love it when people ask if I'm SURE it's not due until February).

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday.

sunnybump · 27/09/2009 12:15

Well the blooming was short lived, today I'm knackered and didn't sleep well last night, but it was lovely while it lasted, Fingers crossed it comes back!

Freecycle is fab Grin, I've got some amazing things from people over the years and managed to give away loads of junk that someone else found to be useful. Love it

Think I may write off today as a pj's day... {yawn}

mawbroon · 27/09/2009 13:11

Not feeling great here either. I have a stonking headache which won't shift and am pretty tired.

I got gaviscon prescribed btw, just in case anyone doesn't know that you get it free on prescription! My heartburn is fairly minor at the moment, but I know there is worse to come. MUCH worse in fact. I still remember the relief from the heartburn the moment ds was born.

becks130 · 27/09/2009 14:41

Hi All,

I hope everyone is good. I haven't been on for a while as I have been really busy with DS and work.

I don't know how I'm going to catch up!

I also have a big bump, someone offered me a seat on the train the other day which was nice as it proved I now look pregnant not fat!

I have my scan booked for Friday, I can't wait We have decided to find out the sex this time and I can't wait to find out, I realy don't know how I got through 9 months now knowing last time!

Is everyone feeling regular movements now? I'm not yet, I have felt movements but not everyday.

AngelaCarleen · 27/09/2009 17:00

Oh my days! I've just had to get more maternity bras as my boobs seem to have decided to have a growth spurt to rival my tummy! And they're really solid, maybe I could crack nuts with them as a new party trick .

I bought a dress the other day from pumpkin patch that makes me look really pregnant, that sounds daft but I keep forgetting I'm pregnant , apart from when the baby gives me a kick. I keep trying it on just so I can admire my bump .

I'm not feeling regular movements yet becks, but I'm sure the time will come oh too soon when I wont be able to sleep for them .

I'm glad there are others who are in love with their bottles of gaviscon, I had to buy some the other day as there were no pharmacy's open. I think (although I could be wrong) that you can get it through the minor ailments scheme so you don't have to get an appointment with the gp, you just need your exemption certificate.

mawbroon · 27/09/2009 17:21

I haven't tried to get gaviscon through the minor ailments scheme, but any time I tried to get anything before, they always sent me to the doc!!

My doc prescribed me a 500ml bottle, but the pharmacy was obviously out of that size, so I got four of the wee size which should keep me going a while!

I am feeling movement pretty regularly, and my bump looks like I am about 6 months gone rather than four. I am not looking forward to having hefalump proportions later on.

TheOldestCat · 27/09/2009 18:30

Thanks for the tip on Gaviscon, mawbroon and AngelaCarleen.

I also look way more pregnant than I am - I feel a bit of a fraud. Silly eh?

woowa · 27/09/2009 18:40

In agreement with lots of people - been in maternity clothes for weeks due to jeans cutting into belly horribly at about 13 weeks.

People keep commenting on bump, and am really aware that for people who find bumps hard (because of never being able to have children) it must be v hard. I used to get really upset by other people's bumps (ttc 4 years) and hate the thought that I might be causing other people pain.

Used to have major PMT mood swings (not that I noticed but DH def did!), and we've enjoyed that things have calmed down a bit now!! However, I seem to have really good days and then days like today when I am miserable and clingy aand cross- does anyone else get like this? Am driving DH mad!

Also have anterior placenta so probably not feeling movement (though with first pregnancies, who knows if it's a movement anyway!) My lovely mum KEEPS asking if i've felt anything which is driving me NUTS as it just makes me worry...

And has for hairy bellies - I am blessed with one even when NOT pregnant and it gives me comfort that you're all joining me in it now!!!! I dont have PCOS but have always figured that maybe too much testosterone in my body. ew. TMI? Maybe it'll go away when i'm not pregnant! That would be great!

flyingcloud · 28/09/2009 08:13

Hi everyone,

I too have been in mat clothes for ages, particularly trousers.

I've been feeling great too, but today am tired as had to go to Germany for work yesterday. I had a four hour train journey back and was looking forward to sleeping but was surrounded by drunk people, not nastily so, but just noisy! I was very frustrated but hey ho.

The weather here is fantastic so going to try and do lots of walking this week.

Hope everyone has a good week.

mamaloco · 28/09/2009 08:26

Hi, for all those who feel too big, I had a few "it must not be long now!" only half way through!
Woowa you are not alone! my DH finds me short-fused (i am usually quite laid back)
Fiziwizzle I went to a big growth spurt this week too. My belly button even popped out. I never had such big boobs even when BF DD. I wonder if it will stop. My bum seems to have grown too. I look like one of those prehistoric earth mother as my arms and legs remain normal.
I feel very lucky, couldn't feel DD regularly in first preg. This time I have been feeling regular and sometime v. strong kicking and turning for a month. (might be because of low lying placenta, there is nothing in the way?) For those who are worrying: first time arround, I couldn't count the 10 mvt in 1/2h (so I decided not too bother), and had a healthy girl who always moved a lot during scans.
The moving helps me waiting for the amnio results (today!), as I feel her.
Good luck for all your scans here it is a bit later 22-24 weeks

AngelaCarleen · 28/09/2009 08:54

Was laying in bed last night and suddenly my tummy flipped like I'd gone over a hill at speed, I've no idea if this was the baby or not but it made me feel quite sick . Other than that I've not slept much as every time I woke up I could feel the baby moving so I stayed awake to feel some more .

Starting to worry about my scan this week, I hope everything is okay (I've no reason to think it wont be, just a worrier). I wish DH could be there, I don't want to go on my own again .
