Rtuff · 25/07/2009 09:31

Anyone else due April 2010?

I just found out yesterday I'm 4 weeks preggers after trying for our 2nd baby for a year and half, at last!! It seemed as though it was never going to happen!

Here's to the next 8-9 months!

Hi All,

Haven't posted for a while but have been lurking and enjoying all the news.

Had my scan today - am 11+5. All well, thank god. Hadn't realised how emotional it would be to see it wriggling about. The tears rolled.

Downs odds are 1:1450 which is a good score for an old bird I think. Hugely relieved.

Went out last week and bought myself an hugely expensive pair of maternity jeans (naughty but nice thing to do) as am just about out of my regular ones. Scales today said I haven't put on any weight yet though. Weird. Not that I'm complaining.

Still feeling sick most of the time but less tired so hopefully coming out of that phase soon.

Am also constantly amazed by the kindness of others at the moment - getting lots of prezzies and support!

Bettymum · 15/09/2009 10:41

Lovely to hear about your scan Puma! Were you on your own? It is emotional, isn't it?
Enjoy your new jeans .

PumaGirl · 15/09/2009 11:53

Thanks Betty - yes, was on my own.

Actually had my NHS scan today as the one yesterday was private (was getting impatient for info!).

Measurements taken today were very slightly different from the ones yesterday. Different equipment and different sonographer so I guess that has something to do with it. Be interesting to compare the risk factors when I get the results in a few days.

Hope everyone doing well today .....

MummyLovesSadie · 15/09/2009 12:46

Puma in what way were the measurements different? The reason I'm asking is because I had my 7 week scan last Thurs & I've not posted because I'm feeling too worried/scared/miserable. The doctor said the embryo is more like a 5 and a half week size rather than the 7 I thought I was. She said though that the ovary that produced the egg is still functioning & still feeding progesterone to the baby so I suppose that is something. I've got to go back this Thursday for another scan & I'm preparing myself for the worst. I've already had 2 mc's this year & I thought that this time things would be different.

Neeko · 15/09/2009 14:37

it WILL be! (stalker emoticon)

Hi to everyone else. Pleased to hear so many of you sounding positive.

draughts · 15/09/2009 15:00

mummylovessadie The waiting, the bloody waiting! It does your head in. I do hope all is well when you go back on Thursday. With DS2 I had an early scan which was rather different to my dates, and then at the twelve week scan the pregnancy was dated back to my dates. How are you feeling?

I have had a drama myself (well mini one, I suspect it may be all in my head!) I went to the doctors this morning as I still keep getting really quite bad abdominal pain and I can't believe that it's normal! My breasts are still so sore that I am sleeping in a sports bra, and I am beyond exhausted although nausea doesn't seem too bad. Anyway GP tried to find a heartbeat and couldn't! I am exactly 8 weeks today and not a skinny girl so I know it was a longshot but still..... I have another scan booked in for Monday morning but it feels like an age away.

Seeing all of my family this weekend as it's DS1's 9th birthday and I'm just not feeling confident enough to tell them. I am quite worried about their reaction tbh as having a child with disabilities already I suspect they may think we are crackers, and I really don't want them to think that as we have a fab life!

Hope everyone is well.

PumaGirl · 15/09/2009 16:55

Sorry to hear about your scan mummylovesadie - does seem an age away until Thursday.

I had a difference in crown/rump of 1.4mm. That tiny 2.5% error (or difference anyway) changed my due date by two days.

Also the nuchal was different by 0.2mm. It may not sound a huge amount but it will be interesting to see what that does to my Downs odds.

So I do think it's down to the baby's position on the day (for me good view yesterday, moderate today), the equipment, the software and the person doing it. I don't know this to be a fact but am just taking a guess.

Hopefully your next scan will produce a better result. Fingers crossed and best of luck.

PumaGirl · 15/09/2009 16:57

Fingers crossed for you too draughts.

MummyLovesSadie · 15/09/2009 18:08

Draughts I do feel pregnant still (or is it my imagination?) but I feel scared silly - thanks for asking. When I was pregnant with dd I used to get really bad abdo pain throughout the first trimester. It felt like really bad af pain, I think it was ligaments stretching. One of my friends has had the same in both of her pregnancies so try not to worry too much about the pain. 8 weeks is way too early to hear a heartbeat - a slap on the wrist for your gp for doing that to you!

Puma I'm glad the Downs odds are stacked in your favour. You need all the breaks you can get & we are all rooting for you. Hopefully the doctor I saw didn't get the angle of the scan quite right - I hoping & praying.

Neeko I so hope you are right.

blondie10 · 15/09/2009 23:06

MLS - I have been having abdominal pains too (which I also had with DD) and got referred for a scan today. I am 11 days out with my dates (not quite sure how that happened as used the first date of my LMP) so am actually 6+3 today and not the 8 weeks I had thought I was! I hope all goes well for your next scan - keep thinking positive thoughts.

So that means my due date is now in May and not April (unless they change the dates again) - can I stick around on here though please??

MummyLovesSadie · 16/09/2009 08:15

Blondie oh God the same thing happened to you that happened to me! I should be 8 today & according to the doctor that scanned me my dates are about 11 days out too! I don't care if my dates are wrong, I just want my baby to be ok. Can I ask you what is the date of your LMP - mine was 22nd July.

nicnacinoonoo · 16/09/2009 09:14

im 11 weeks tomorrow and i was bigger a month ago than i am now, im really worried. you cant really tell im pregnant now i just look like iv put a bit of weight on and my hips are definitely bigger as a lot of my pants are too tight, but a few weeks ago i would have said i had a definite bump and its not there now. i think my appetite might have decreased a little as well although that may just be paranoia. i dont know what to think???

Mistymoo · 16/09/2009 11:08

nicnacinoonoo You can sometimes get quite bloated and so that may explain why you may have looked bigger previously. Have you had your scan yet?

I still have not had any word on a date for my scan. I just want a date!

Rtuff · 16/09/2009 11:21

nicnacinoonoo I am exactly the same, i was much bigger a few weeks ago than i am now, which i too was worried about as my ms had also completely gone. But then MS came back yesterday much worse and all through the afternoon. I have my 12 week scan tomorrow morning so will let you all know how it goes. I think Mistymoo is right, when i was bigger it was probably more bloating than anything else... I'm sure everything is fine!

OP posts:
nicnacinoonoo · 16/09/2009 11:58

my scan is on the 1st. my morning sickness went at about 9 weeks but i am still having to pee constantly so hopefully thats a good sign. feel like iv been waiting forever for this scan.
good luck with your scan rtuff
hope you have your date through soon mistymoo how far gone are you?
thanks for the advise i will try not to worry

tostaky · 16/09/2009 14:26

im 12wks tomorrow and will get my scan on friday... cant wait! my morning sickness has gone but im still feeling tired (had a hectic week too so that might be why). Im feeling quite confident i have a healthy baby because i have finally started showing!! I do look pregnant, yay!! ok so it doesnt mean the baby is healthy, but it is a good sign nonetheless!! Ive started work again and im holding my tummy in when i walk around the office in my non-mat clothes! The top ive got today really shows i have a bump... i have only two tops that disguise it nicely..
I can't believe im about to start the second trimester!!! Hope everybody is doing well!

chowmein · 16/09/2009 18:35

after many many calls to hospital, gp, midwives, finally got my 1st appointment date for this Fri, will be nearly 11 wks by then. should have a scan at the appointment but i m not sure.

i too i m not as big as a few weeks ago, at least not bigger anyway. i don't have much MS, apart from heartburn and general feeling of indigestion and loss of appetite esp in the evening. not too tired or anything, am a bit worried tbh, but i guess i was bigger because of bloating. i did question how come it is my stomach getting bigger not my tummy jeans still tight and unbuttoned but haven't put on any weight.

MLS the bean is so small it is easy to get the measurements wrong, gd luck with your scan tmw

hope everyone's doing well

stinkypinky · 16/09/2009 19:01

I got the promotion... I must be mad! Chuffed though
Want to see my bean - so jealous of you guys!
Have pre booking appt on 28th so goodness knows when I will get a scan...

JPL81 · 16/09/2009 20:33

Congratulations on your promotion stinkypinky. Good luck to all those of you having scans this week, hope all is well.

My belly is vastly different day to day - it was concave yesterday and today I look like I ate all the pies - must be bloating. And possibly something to do with the almond macaroon cake I made and ate most of last night! I've been for a VERY long walk today, so at least that means the tiredness is getting better - no more fridge related instances of narcolepsy, hopefully :-)

Got my scan date through today - 30th September, two weeks today, which is great as I start back at uni on 28th but have Wednesdays off so won't have to miss anything. I should be around 11 weeks by then, I think!

blondie10 · 16/09/2009 21:54

MLS - date of the LMP was 21st July so a day different to you, but the sonographer did say that if you have long cycles or cycles can sometimes be out of sync then the dates don't work out quite right, plus like Chowmein said they are so small that there can sometimes be errors in working out the dates. I think all is OK though so trying not to worry (though having longer to wait for the next scan is frustrating - have a date through for the 12 week scan but I will have to delay that by a week and half)! Was completely exhausted last week but thought, it's OK, I'm in week 7 so that's when you can get really tired but now realise I have that still to go!! Not sure I could be any more exhausted than what I feel now!! I also look huge already but it must be bloating!! I was like that with DD too. I hope your scan goes well tomorrow MLS, keep up the positive thoughts! x

Rtuff · 17/09/2009 11:18

Oh my goodness... i've just had my scan and i am actually preggers! Its not all in my head! And baby is perfectly healthy!!

It's such a good experience, baby was moving sooo much, its just nice to see a healthy baby, so all those many worries were for nothing! It's such a relief! I am in such a good mood now although i was very worried going into the scan!

I hope everybody is doing well!

Good luck with your scan tomorrow Tostaky

That's so lovely Rtuff .

It's DD's last day in the baby room today, she moves up to the bigger room next week and I keep crying every time I think about it. Have spent half the morning in the work loos . Not sure why I'm so emotional, she's been having visits to the room every day this week and loves it!

PrincessTweetz · 17/09/2009 12:57

Just blame ur hormones Bettymum !!
Yay...I had my scan too yesterday, and surprise surprise my dates have changed lol..I'm now due 28th March( I actually had to work out whether I'd done anything around the time that would have allowed me to conceive..still not sure, and I had to use an ovulation kit this time to make sure I deffo caught at the right time, but still , I don't care when it happened...it happened!!!! I'm now officially PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!!!)..which means I'm not 12 weeks today, but 12 weeks and 4 days...woohoo..a couple of days closer to meeting him lol...(I think he's a boy!) I also picked up dds fotos for baby of the year comp in the local paper, and she looks soooo cute and scarily grown up, she's gonna be the perfect big sister (Remind me to still think that when she doesn't want to share her toys, bedroom, mummy or daddy hehe) Hope every1s well x

dani87 · 17/09/2009 14:27

thedollshouse · 17/09/2009 14:42

Oh congratulations to all of you on seeing your babies.

I can't wait for mine as I'm still not convinced I am carrying a baby. I have convinced myself it is a molar pregnancy. I have told quite a few people now and I have to keep telling them not to get too excited as I don't know for sure whether I am carrying a baby. They all look at me as if I am slightly unhinged.
