Anyone else due April 2010?

I just found out yesterday I'm 4 weeks preggers after trying for our 2nd baby for a year and half, at last!! It seemed as though it was never going to happen!

Here's to the next 8-9 months!

Well I finally have a date for my scan it will be on the 28th September. I was supposed to be having a nuchal scan but they have only booked me in for a dating scan. I'm tempted to leave it as it is as it has been a hassle to get this far. Am I right in thinking a nuchal only measures the isk for downs anyway?

thighsmadeofcheddar · 07/09/2009 15:20

Well I finally had my midwife booking in appointment today. She puts my due date at 20th March, although I think she understands it will move back at my scan. I'm going to stay anyway if that's okay? My nuchal scan is Wednesday, I'm ever so nervous. Fingers crossed eh? Nausea and tiredness chronic as ever. Hopefully it ends soon.

Hope you're okay dollshouse, I'm sorry you've got such a wait. Thinking of you Puma, hope you're hanging in. Men are strange creatures.

Will report in on Wed. x

JPL81 · 07/09/2009 15:51

Hi Guys, mind if I join? I'm brand new to this (mumsnet AND pregnancy that is) so not entirely sure what I'm doing!
Had my booking appointment last week and was given an EDD of 25th April (my other half's birthday) so according to the professionals I'm just over 7 weeks pregnant. I actually think I'll be 8 weeks tomorrow so it'll be interesting to find out which of us is closer when I get my dating scan.
Not been sick as yet but feel a little queasy when I'm hungry. Also have gigantic boobs (they weren't little to begin with) and am absolutely knackered all the time. Haven't told anyone but closest family and a couple of friends as yet (and none of my close friends have kids) so it'll be nice to have a natter with someone - albeit a virtual one!
Sorry, succinctness isn't one of my strong points

Bettymum · 07/09/2009 16:22

Hello ladies, welcome JPL81.
Just got back from my scan, turned out that it wasn't a nuchal, just a dating scan. My dates have been confirmed again so I guess the baby is growing as it should, which is good. Got back and showed it to everyone in my department - all three of them - so they all know now.
Nuchal scan is on 28th September, I'll be thinking of you thedollshouse! To answer your question, it gives you an idea if there may be a problem, depending on the thickness of the fold, but you can only tell for sure by having an invasive test (i.e. amnio or CVS).

PumaGirl · 07/09/2009 18:53

Just back from the booking in chat with the midwife. All went fine and I did tell her the situation and she was great. Thanks to all for telling me to be honest. Always the best policy I guess!

Hello to JPL81 and scre (hope your DH starts talking again soon).

bettymum - glad your scan went ok.

thighs - glad you're staying on the thread!

srce · 07/09/2009 20:03

thanks for your replies and welcomes guys. well done those of you who have scans, it puts your mind at rest to see the little sticky bean doesnt it? i know i felt relieved with DD1 and DD2 when i saw them on the screen.

i feel awful for you pumagirl, if its any consolation my best friend is a single mum and she is absolutley the best mum i know, she says she finds it easier to concentrate fully on DC's and give them all her love and attention, rather than wasting energy on daft DH.

my DH is in denial i think. totally lost it when i told him i was pg. is more rational now but still far from happy about it. i started another thread on here a couple of weeks ago and got some lovely supportive comments from people who had an unexpected DC3. thats what has made me realise mumsnet is superb! i am pleased to be pg, but sh*ing myself at the thought of coping with a newborn again.

DD1 first day at school today, seriously i would not recommend this experience when you are hormone addled, huge sunnies needed!

JPL81 1st pg is so exciting, good luck to you, and looking forward to hearing your news over the next 9 mnths and beyond!

good luck to everyone else who has scans coming up.

Trying4Baby1 · 07/09/2009 21:11

Hiya all, just posting as I've had a really crap day and can't keep anything down. Got ages to wait until my booking appointment (22 Sep) and even longer till my first scan (15 Oct). Can't wait. Guess it's a good sign that I have MS even if it feels crap. Bit disappointed that my boobs don't seem to be getting any bigger either, just sore. Think I'm last on the list for April so I'll get to hear what everyone else is going through which will be handy!! Hope everyone's keeping well!

dani87 · 07/09/2009 21:37

hi all and welcome newbies got another scan 2morrow as been having pain crapping myself! then its my 12week scan next week cant wait at least i can rest then, if all is good 2morrow. they are going to be looking for a cyst on the ovaries not sure why as that didnt show up on my 5+5 scan and they were looking for that so im abit confused! oh well. hope every1s ms settles soon mines getting better seems like i can manage to eat junk like crisps and burgers which is strange as i never liked burgers!

lilmissmummy · 08/09/2009 14:07

Hi all please may I join in? I am 9+5 with #3 I already have ds age 8 and dd age 4. Wondering what I have let myself in for as already the size of a house and suffering terrible ms and tiredness. My due date is 8/4/2010 (wow that sounds ages away!)

Congratulations to everyone on their pregnancies and so so sorry for those who have lost xx

nicnacinoonoo · 08/09/2009 14:24

hi lilmiss im 9+5 today too!
ms has almost gone, not sure whether to worry or be happy. i managed to clean my house properly today at least which i have not had the energy for recently. trying to stay positive i didnt have any ms with ds so maybe only weeks 6-9 with this 1?
i think my appetite is increasing i seem to need to eat every couple of hours or a feel faint so thats still a symptom right? still got 3 weeks until i can find out if everything is ok

dani87 · 08/09/2009 15:35

morning everyone had my scan today everything is good got a scan pic as you can see bean waving at me lol ! no cyst epau thought it might have been that i was constipated when the doc was prodding me bit confused as i thought i was 10+2 but today they have told me im 11wks which is confusing but good as 1 more week and i can relax!. well i have my dating scan next week so hopefully i will no for sure how far gone i am.

welcome lilmissmummy and congrats!

tostaky · 08/09/2009 17:11

dani87 you are so lucky to have seen your little bean!!

i saw the midwives today and now im even more scarred that something wrong. totally irational fear but there you go.
they didnt want to listen to hb, not before 14/16 wks they said.
so i listen and answered all their questions etc thinking well whats the point, maybe im not even pregnant! i dont know why i dont have that bad feeling...
cant wait for my scan next friday.
also now i dont know if i should buy mat clothes yet or if it is going to jinx me...

oh and midwives said that bc i had a cesarian less than 10 months ago i wont be able to give birth at home or in the birth centre.

tostaky · 08/09/2009 17:11

sorry for all the typos and spelling mistakes, the heat is getting to me!

Neeko · 08/09/2009 21:24

Tostaky That's what my MW said too so try not to worry. If you're not having any bleeding then you should be ok. Even with my MMC I had a small amount of brown blood. I know it's hard, but try to relax.

lilmissmummy · 08/09/2009 23:29

Oh I am so jealous that you have managed to get your house clean nicnac! I just about pull myself out of bed, get the children to school and get home before I start throwing up! I think the school mums must think I have got really antisocial because I don't want to stand and chat incase I am sick on them lol

dani I bet it was lovely to see your little bean! Have you given it a nickname? We have called ours blueberry!

Tostaky try not to worry as neeko said it is natural to worry (panic!) about the pregnancy but you only have to hold out another 10 days and you will see your beautiful bean! It is sooo hard not to worry!

Xx

Rtuff · 09/09/2009 09:01

Morning all,

Well just as i thought ms was going, it came back yesterday morning so that made me feel a little bit more relaxed about things after my panic at the weekend!

Tostaky I think everyone has a moment of panic at some point before the 1st scan. I think its a case of seeing is believing... well it is for me anyway...

Ds has nicknamed ours Goofy!! i'm hoping thats not going to stick!

I hope everybody else is well and ms isn't too bad!

OP posts:
Neeko · 09/09/2009 09:36

My DH named ours Wriggler. it's nice to have a name. Makes it more real.
Hope everyone's ok today.

Bettymum · 09/09/2009 10:07

I like all the names for the beans . We called Bean 1/DD Rufus for some reason, then when we found out she was going to be a girl, she became Rufusina. This one hasn't got a name yet, I'll have to come up with one with DH.

MrsMerryHenry · 09/09/2009 12:06

Hi all, great womb names! We've called ours Button.

Welcome, lilmiss!

Had a horrible day of nausea on Monday - my first day back at work (well, I work for myself but still didn't give myself the day off - I'm a horrible boss )

Thankfully since then I've been clear. But I'm SO knackered - can hardly walk up stairs without getting out of breath.

Dani - so pleased about your good scan news, that's brill.

MummyLovesSadie · 09/09/2009 12:48

slightly at the creative names you have all given to your beans.

I have my first scan tomorrow at 7+1. I keep telling myself that I do feel pregnant & I should try & relax - easier said than done.

MrsMerryHenry · 09/09/2009 13:34

Good luck, Sadie!

Am of you chaps with scan dates. I must call my surgery and find out what's going on - mw appt is at 11 weeks and I don't want to go much beyond 12 weeks with no scan.

Rtuff · 09/09/2009 14:52

Has anyone been getting really bad headaches? I've got a really bad one at the moment, and not sure whether to try and let it pass or to take paracetamol... Is paracetamol okay to take in the 1st trimester?
This pregnancy is soooo different to my first!

OP posts:
Neeko · 09/09/2009 15:47

Had one that started at the weekend and lasted til Tuesday! Used 4head and Kool n Soothe strips and steam. Didn't really help that much put I'm too paranoid for painkillers!

thehuntress · 09/09/2009 16:06

Rtuff my doctor told me it was okay to take the recommended dose of paracetamol. I had a migraine last week that lasted three days, and I was in so much pain I reluctantly took some. I was taking up to 8 a day The Kool n Soothe strips are really good.

The other trick that sometimes works for me is if you feel a bad headache coming on, immediately take two paracetamol with some form of caffeine (coke, coffee). This sometimes stops my headaches dead before they start.

Anyway, hope you are feeling better. Headaches are the worst, especially when combined with morning sickness

srce · 09/09/2009 16:06

ive had some awful headaches with this pregnancy, my 3rd. its totally safe to take paracetamol guys so dont worry.

lilmismummy your post made me laugh, my DD1 started school this week, god the whole playground politics thing is totally beyond me, have barely made eye contact with any other mums, let alone made friends! feel really sick but sure they all think im weird.

for everyone with bad sickness just think the more sick you feel, the stronger the hormones are, and the more sticky the bean. thats what i keep telling myself anyway!
