Thought I'd start a new thread as No 3 is pretty long now! If anyone knows how to link between the 2 threads can you put one in - I'm not called Jellybrain by accident you know .

Had a job interview yesterday but, haven't heard anything back yet . I don't think my preparation was all that good and was pretty busy over the weekend with birthday party preparations and was consequently shattered.

OP posts:

ditto wilbur!

Have been reading just not posting much...also got SPD and ds (16mo) still bottom shuffles intsead of walks ....dh has agreed to take 1st 2 weeks in august off....if ds is not walking soon my back is gonna give way!

wilbur · 20/06/2005 14:16

I've just been trying to catch up on the news here - so sorry there are so many suffering from SPD. I haven't experienced a high summer pregnancy before and am finding the heat a bit much. Got to do some painting this afternoon and if it weren't for the builders here, I'd be doing it in my big knickers. Apart from the heat I'm not feeling too bad and baby is well and busy.

Off out tomorrow to buy hosp bag supplies, paper knickers, newborn nappies, and so on. Might have to sneak in a couple of newborn outfits too....

beachyhead · 20/06/2005 14:37

wilbur - don't mind the builders - I was digging in the front garden in a v. attractive Mothercare swimsuit yesterday ........not a pretty sight, at all!!!!!

I must admit it is murder trying to find nice cool work clothes for the last two weeks.....

Wilbur are you going to Tommys - I seem to remember? My elective cs will probably be either week of 8th or 15th - you might be in the next bed......

Eulalia · 20/06/2005 15:03

Welcome suzi2

Back is much better today. I don't know how the women here cope with SPD - how do you get the chores etc done? My house is a tip after just two days!

Miaou No seriously glad you are feeling OK. I too have ds at school but its hard with my two only being 3 and nearly 6. dd is being quite challenging now and although ds is older with his special needs can often make him act like a 2 year old. We went out for fish and chips yesterday and I had to change him completely as he was covered in tomato ketchup.

Managed to get to the outdoor pool yesterday morning which was lovely and really helped my back. Had to watch the kids, particularly ds towrads the end though to make sure he didn't drown anyone.

Rochwen - how does having ligament pain relate to whether you breastfeed or not?

Just two weeks of school term left here and I am trying to get as much done as possible and I just want to sit in the sun and make the most of it.

josey · 20/06/2005 15:50

Hi everyone - welcome suzi2
Well im starting to have better days now that i have had a week off work hopfully the iron is starting to kick in and i will feel much better by next week though think i will stay off work now, there isnt much point in going back for a week.
Have BH all the time and some are really quite uncomphy at times.
Well i have that wedding at the weekend and it was lovely although aunty (mother of the bride) packed me off to my bed after the dinner to lie down even through major protests from me, i felt like a naughty kid being put to bed. I actually felt ok, until DS took a pic of me digital cameras have a lot to answer for cause once i saw what i looked like i couldnt have felt more beached if i tried!

MissChief · 20/06/2005 15:56

hi - long time no talk - now on mat leave thought it time to rejoin you girls! Hope you're all enjoying rather than suffering in this heat!

6 wks to go (think due around same time as you, Eulalia?) so need to get myself sorted - wondering now about trying for home birth as found birthing pool brilliant last time (tho ended up in hospital for delivery) - anyone else going for this??

Josey - I'm on iron too - but got painful piles (sorry if TMI) so I've decided to take 1 tablet a day rather than the prescribed 2 and much better now. Trying to have loads of spinach & red meat to make up for this.

kate100 · 20/06/2005 18:31

Welcome to suzi2, it's great people are still joining us even at this stage.

I spoke too soon about the swelling, I officially have 'big, fat pregnant feet'!! They're a rather attractive shade of purple.

It's very hot here and I've got a grumpy toddler who is very hot and bothered, oh jpy!!

Eulalia, the only reason my house is fit to live in is because I have a cleaner. I just couldn;t cope with it and although DH tries, he just doesn't clean in the way that I do and he doesn't really have the time. Oh well, it's not forever and then I can hoover to my hearts content.

I haven't got anything for my hospital bag, it hadn't even occured to me until you all mentiond it one here I was all packed by this time with DS, but this time I can't seem to get round to doing things. Can't even rememeber to take my raspberry leaf tea, hopeless

Twiga · 20/06/2005 20:01

Hi all, typing this from Belfast as away visiting my in-laws - having a lovely relaxing time! We all went for a swim today which was just fab, really found it soothing being in the pool and found I was slightly less achy after too. Have found out about aqua-natal classes at home so hoping to start them on monday. Keeping well apart frm the discomfort on spd front, so much more relaxed now I've finished at work. Getting slight swelling in hands and ankles - heat not helping - yes it's actually been warm in Aberdeen ! Have ordered a new wedding band as feel strange without my rings, should pick it up Fri once home.

Got the best news ever today, a very close friend of mine phoned to say she is expecting - found out early this morning and is already just over 7 weeks - looks like due start of Feb! Extra exciting as she'd been told by gp wasn't ovulating and was just going through intial appts to see about clomid etc - they've done it without help after all which is just ace - am over the moon for her!

Nic2004dave, so sorry to hear you've been feeling so sore and down, hope the last few days have been better for you.

Welcome to Suzi2 and congratulations hope the rest of your pg is a bit more comfortable!

Eulalia, Blossom2, Miaou and Mischief, only 6 weeks to go - wow! You must all be getting really excited.

colinsmummy, glad to read that things are clear on the diabetes front, must be a big relief.

Josey, glad the wedding was fun. What did you wear in the end?

rubyring · 21/06/2005 03:28

hello everyone! I can't sleep (again!) in this heat...I'm quite enjoying the strangeness of being up at this time, but will surely pay for it tomorrow! Am 30 weeks + 2...loads of kicking and wriggling and moving! Just under 5 more weeks of work argh! (I'm a teacher). Altho' just found out I could go sick without it affecting pay so see how I go, I'm well knackered at the mo partly due to heat. Anyway just saying hi...started antenatal classes yesterday, I loved it! Feel a bit less freaked out about the labour (1st baby), going to look round labour ward at weekend...anyway, ought to go back to bed really...sleepy but buzzing head and hot fat feet!

Rochwen · 21/06/2005 10:01

I have to say that I love the warm weather ! I'm one of these strange people who is constantly cold and this last weekend was the first time since I was in Rome last year that I haven't felt cold. Bring on the heat ! ( ducks from thrown pillows )

Eulalia said: 'Rochwen - how does having ligament pain relate to whether you breastfeed or not?' Apparently the hormone relaxin is responsible for the softening of the ligaments and thus SPD and when you breastfeed it lingers longer in your body, so the pain will stay with you a little longer if you decide to nurse. That's what my GP and my midwife said.

Arghhh, I wish I could stop working, I'm so uncomfortable. At least at home I can alter postions, standing, lying, sitting ... having a hot bath. The midwife is quite happy to write me off sick but then I'll loose a month of maternity leave and I don't want to ! Not sure what to do?

This last weekend hubby and I went and bought all the baby stuff and I got all the little bits and bobs for my hospital bag (nursing nightgowns, lol, I've never owned a nightgown in my life !) as we wanted to get everything done asap since the midwife believes that SPD will get worse the bigger I get. Feeling relieved to be sorted out now.

Now, if I just didn't have to work ...

Rochwen · 21/06/2005 10:03

Forgot to welcome the Newbies !

So, anybody keen on this 'Due Date List'?

beachyhead · 21/06/2005 10:11

Oh yes please Rochwen - I always get quite excited on the other due threads when people gradually 'drop' off........How many are we all together - must be about 30 ish?

Azure · 21/06/2005 10:27

I like the idea of the due date list as well, if anyone is up to doing it. Hello and welcome to Suzi2. Twiga, glad you're having a nice time in Belfast - as I sit in the office, the thought of swimming is very appealling. I finally got around to arranging my hospital visit this morning, and the only times they run are at 11am in the week - the next one is July 8th. 11am is completely inconvenient for working people - it does irritate me how ill-thought out these things are.

Twiga · 21/06/2005 11:10

hve posted a separate thread under pg topic, but wandered if any of you ladies might be able to advise - have been throwing up again the last 3 mornings - is it possibley a return of mornining sickness, or the way bubs is lying or should I be phoning the mw for some advice - not able to until Fri morning as in Belfast til thurs lunch time.

Rochwen - due date list would be great - just let us know what info etc you want - thanks !

Rochwen · 21/06/2005 11:18

Awww Twiga, what a pain ! No advice, just heaps of sympathy !

Azure, yes they do seem to think all pregnant women are at home. I'm still working (though really hating it at the moment) and I find I can't get to any classes, appointments etc easily.

Well this due date list, what's the best way of doing it? We can't edit posts right? So this could turn our quite complicated. Any ideas? Would I need to prepare it in word and occasionally repost it?

josey · 21/06/2005 11:23

mischief i was told by doc to take 3 a day but my MW overheard him and said dont dare take one aday and drink it with orange juice as it absorbs quicker into your system and try to avoid tea coffee for a while after drinking! i have done this and avoided the piles infact have just about gone the other way!!

I just got a pink linen dress (which i had a travel iron in the car though)

must find out when aquanatel classes are with me while im off.

that would be good to do the list before we all start popping off one by one

blossom2 · 21/06/2005 11:23

Maybe the best way would be just to start a new thread and we each post our due dates on it. It wont be in date order or anything but at least it'll have all the info.

dont we have a 'stats' thread too .....

Twiga - now sure why you're getting morning sickness. have the doctors said anything???
I'm 35 weeks now and can't wait to have baby. Sleeping poorly, swollen feet & legs look/feel like tree trunks but generally okay.

Twiga · 21/06/2005 11:40

Rochwen - could start with info on here - stats thread for Aug - not everyone's on it and some info may have changed. Maybe the best thing is if over the next wee while we all re-post our dates or could start all post on a new stats thread/continue the old one, then cut and paste the list across to here at some point? Could have your work cut out for you!

Twiga · 21/06/2005 12:02

Blossom2, not seen anyone about it yet - dh is a doc and doesn't seem too concerned although he's going to take a urine sample into the hospital when we get back just in case it's being caused by a uti although don't seem to have any other symptoms. Probably just one of those things

Azure · 21/06/2005 13:31

Sorry to hear about the sickness Twiga - no experience myself, I'm afraid.

Azure · 21/06/2005 14:20

Spooky - I just googled "Aqua natal classes" and the first link it came up with was this very thread!

Dazie · 21/06/2005 15:00

Hi everyone and to all the newbies!!

I went to a lovely wedding at the weekend it was baking hot. I didnt treat myself to a new dress I wore a black strechy little number that was just the job.

Well I have been sweltering in this heat I take about three showers a day just to cool down! Dh keeps complaining about all his little ailments and the fact he cant sleep at night etc etc he is driving me mad!!!

I cannot believe we are nearly at the stage of popping off as you put it josey!! I am counting down the days Im hoping this little one will be early as I think I might burst if I have to wait past my due date.

MissChief · 21/06/2005 15:32

IKWYM - can't believe it's all happening so soon but partly relieved too - just don't want to be too early as will no way be ready then.
Josey, thanks for iron tablet info - v reassuring, thought it was a mega-dose. will try now with the juice. have yr iron levels been ok since though just having the 1 a day?

No idea about the sickness either, I'm afraid, could it be combination of heat/late pregnancy? guess loads of water wd help and check with yr mw as soon as you can.

Eulalia · 21/06/2005 16:11

Rochwen - thanks - had never actually heard of that hormone. That may explain why I did get some wrist pain when I breastfed ds - a lot of it was due to sitting holding him for hours because he was difficult to establish. It certainly didn't last long though. Was fine last time round with dd.

I love the heat too! But like the other Scottish folk on here we don't always get it very hot. Mind you ds was born in '99 and we had a brilliant 2 month heatwave. I loved having him out in the garden with just his vest on. Enjoying having another summer baby this time round and was pleased that dd was a Spring baby. I just couldn't do it in winter.

Twiga - I'd phone the midwife just to check but could be the position of the baby. Hope you feel better soon.

MissChief - I am due 30 July - shouldn't really be on this thread but am expecting to be late. Not doing a homebirth (house is being renovated!) but would love to. Hope to try the birthing pool this time round though.

Back is almost OK now. I think I'll be joining you again in the v fit club Miaou No swelling (but I never get it), heartburn etc.... sorry to boast but I am quite pleased and goes to show that although I am nearly 40 it doesn't mean you have to suffer more.

Eulalia · 21/06/2005 16:14

Rochwen - I found this which may be of interest....
How should exercise programmes be modified to ensure safety of the fetus and developing baby, and why?
