Thought I'd start a new thread as No 3 is pretty long now! If anyone knows how to link between the 2 threads can you put one in - I'm not called Jellybrain by accident you know .

Had a job interview yesterday but, haven't heard anything back yet . I don't think my preparation was all that good and was pretty busy over the weekend with birthday party preparations and was consequently shattered.

OP posts:

Twiga · 26/06/2005 15:07

Sounds like there's a few of us up in Aberdeen direction keen to meet so how about we start throwing some dates around and organise something - I'm pretty much free for whenever, going away at the end of July and will have one day when I'll need to wait in for a furniture delivery but otherwise.....

Had a lovely night last night, thought I was meeting with a couple of pals for a coffee and chin-wag, but turned up to find a baby shower had been organised for me. Was a great suprise, can't believe that Dh and a couple of my friends have been plotting for a couple of weeks now and I didn't have a clue! Got some lovely wee bits and pieces for baby and some chocolate/bath type stuff for me, so plenty of long soaks and pampering on the cards for the next wee while .

Got to get moving with the decorating upstairs, dh off work tomorrow so hoping we'll at least get round to choosing paint and clearing out our bedroom so we can make a start. Nesting has well and truely kicked in in this house, even the mess is organised into wee piles. Was pleased with myself friday night when managed to fill a huge cardboard box with stuff for our church jumble sale the next day - feeling very ruthless at the moment and am determined to have a good clear out - not really like me, bit of a hoarder at heart!

Anyway, hope you are all keeping well and enjoying the fine weather, lol x

Miaou · 26/06/2005 23:06

Spacecadet, nice to see you dropping in, so glad you are now pg again. Hope all goes well for you!

I'm now starting to feel that I'm at that "final month" stage - nesting instinct kicking in, but I need loads more sleep and am finding it hard to get comfy on the sofa! I've finally had to give up driving this week as my bump no longer goes comfortably behind the wheel, and I can't twist round to reverse! I can't really complain though - I had to give up at seven months in previous pregnancies.

I had my midwife's appointment on Tuesday this week, apparently the baby is 1/5 engaged - or was then, it's definitely moved in further since then! Dh was convinced something was going to happen today (for some reason), and I think I may have experienced some BH this evening (not sure as I haven't had them before!)

I'm back at the midwife on 7th July (day before my birthday!) to go through my birthplan in detail. I think I will start writing a list of things to ask about!

KMS · 27/06/2005 09:57

34 wks here now! although my other babies have needed 41 wks too cook, so I'm sure I have another 7 wks left. Feels strange as I packed my bag at 34 wks with the others but this time I haven't got anything ready. Need to go in the loft and get baby bits down to wash! I can't get up the ladder so have to wait for DH to get round to it!! Is on my list for this week though as I am starting to think this one could take me by suprise and come early as I'm not ready.(IYSWIM)

Azure · 27/06/2005 09:58

Twiga, how lovely to have a surprise baby shower. I went to John Lewis (well, Peter Jones) yesterday for the first time this pregnancy and was shocked at how much everything costs, from the travel systems to the nursery furniture. I think we got away with a minimum last time, and will be doing the same again. It seems such a long time since DS was a baby - and the baby stage is so short relatively - I guess I'm completely out of touch with what's out there. Still, DH assembled the crib this weekend so at least there is somewhere for the baby to sleep if he puts in a (very) early appearance. I really wish I wasn't at work anymore, because I just want to sort everything out.

Miaou, was your DH right? Did anything happen yesterday (I assume not as you posted late)? I wonder who will be the first on this thread to give birth!

Miaou · 27/06/2005 11:32

No, I'm still here - I don't share DH's confidence in things happening early! However I experienced a few BH contractions last night for the first time - made him very nervous!

Eulalia · 27/06/2005 12:53

I am so far on because I shouldn't really be on this thread (due 30 July) however have been late the last 2 times so am expecting to be again. Just hope this one doesn't prove me wrong!

The only definte thing I have next month is ds's birthday party on the 16th and his birthday itself on the 19th. Oh yes and I am doing the photographs for a wedding (just on an amateur basis) on the 9th when I will be 37 weeks (I must be mad!) Would be nice to meet some real live mumsnetters at last! I'd have to take my two kids along to wherever we meet.

Must go its ds's sports day today.

Rochwen · 27/06/2005 13:22

34 weeks here.

I've had a good weekend, party and BBQ and I'm enjoying the great weather. (Only downside that I have to stay inside because of my horrendous hayfever - promise this will be my only whinge today).

So, I'm feeling much better mentally than last week, much more positive.

...and I'm all set, totally and completely organised ! My worry of being unable to move soon because of stupid SPD (Stupid Pain in the Deck) has totally spurred me into action. Please allow me a moment of utter smugness.

  • Hospital bag packed
  • Nursery totally set up
  • Baby clothes washed
  • All bits and bobs bought
  • Pram ordered (lovely posh Jane Sportstrack with car seat/carry cot extra thingy, very very nice) - will arrive on Wednesday Yay, I rock !!!

Oh, and this is my last week of work, double yay ! Not sure now what I will do with myself all day at home after that. Well, I've got tons of Dr appointments next week (dentist - if I manage to climb up the chair, lol), pysiotherapist (finally !!!), Doctor, midwife and consultant (cross your fingers that I can convince him to get me a c/s, pleeeeeeease).

But for the weeks after I've got not much on. So, I'd love to meet up with the (around) Aberdeen Lovelies. What is best for you all? Are you all still working or can we meet during the day? There is a lovely place to have lunch in the centre of Aberdeen that is non-smoking and serves beautiful healthy lunches or Pizza Express, they are non-smoking too now.

...sorry yet another novel.

Rochwen · 27/06/2005 13:24

Oh, anybody else started leaking yellow milk stuff? It's not much but I'm really proud, milk production in action it seems.

Twiga · 28/06/2005 09:18

Rochwen, I'm finished work now so any time is really ok for me as regards meeting up - don't mind where we meet - healthy lunch plus non-smoking sounds good! Maybe we should aim for earlier in the month rather than later so that we don't have to bring hot water and towels for Eulalia ! I've been leaking milk type stuff for about 3 weeks now, it's certianly reassuring to know that things are working ok and has helped increase my optimisim about bf sucessfully. You're certainly very organised, we're still decorating so hard at work sorting out junk and moving stuff around the house. Have managed to wash and iron a few baby bits - mainly stuff I know I'll def use. Was at Homebase yesterday and picked our paint for the baby's room and for ur bedroom so we'll be up to our eys in paint again in the next couple of days.

Eulalia, how did sports day go?

Right, must go and make a start on the garden been neglected whilst we've been doing stuff in-doors - the knee high grass is annoying me every time I look out the living room window!

josey · 28/06/2005 22:22

same with me anytime if my dh is home he will drive me down, he has family in aberdeen and would go see them, if not i would just get the train as not sure on Aberdeen, country bumpkin that i am. Eulalia I will probably have to take ds also so sure they will all play nicely.

god its so hot tonight it seems worse than what it was during the day.

well rochwen im not quite caught up on you yet but all baby things are washed ironed and put away in there new place, have to wait for DH to get home before i can get the rest done.

what baby stuff is everyone planning taking to the hospital? i cant remember what i took/needed the last time, sure ds just wore vests in the hospital

oh and yes to the milk stuff, been like that for what seems like ages now, though not as bad as last time i remember it just pouring out when i lay on my side in bed sorry tmi

Twiga · 29/06/2005 07:48

Morning all!

Not such a hot idea to do the garden yesterday, have been hobbling around like a wee old lady since - gonna have to take things very easy today - oh well at least it's tidy again!

On the hospital front I was thinking a couple of vests, sleepsuits and scratch mits for bubs plus the pram blanket that my mum has just finished making. Thought could always get dh to bring in other clothes if needed - first timer so not really sure.

Josey, if you end up getting the train, one/all of us can meet you at the station.

Is there a day of the week that is better for folk than others - paticularly Eulalia and Josey with their wee ones? Again I'm pretty free and easy so happy to fit in where-ever.

beachyhead · 29/06/2005 09:42

Last day at work today - soooo excited - yet again I had to stand up on the train this morning, then when a seat came free, I had to ask the woment who was lowering herself into it, if I could have as 'I'm quite pregnant'.....are they blind or do they choose not to see??????

So rock on tomorrow.....haven't put all the baby clothes away yet and haven't packed my bag.....I'm only 32 weeks next Saturday, so anout 5 weeks until the planned cs I guess.....

So hot in London - all the t-storms were so impressive, but haven't cleared the air....

Eulalia · 29/06/2005 10:26

Twiga - ds did really well at Sports Day - I can't believe how well he has come on in a year. And the weather was perfect. dd also took part and she is only 3!

Rochwen - wow you are organised. So what are you going to do now for these remaining weeks?!

josey - ds doesn't always play nicely (he has autism) but is usually OK if he is occupied like in a park or soft play area. I will have to keep an eye on him obviously. How old is your ds?

Any day is OK really as the school hols start on Friday! ARGGH!!!

Azure · 29/06/2005 10:42

Beachyhead - congratulations on your last day, you lucky thing. I'm still completely disorganised - we are waiting for decorators to paint the nursery after a water leak damaged one wall, although the baby will be in a crib in our room for the first few months. As regards hospital bag, I remember completely underestimating the number of sleepsuits I needed last time, and DH having to rush to M&S to get some more. I think I only needed some vests, sleepsuits and a nice outfit for coming home in terms of clothes. We had to take in our own nappies. For the baby I will also take cotton wool (in a pleat rather than balls as the early nappies can be disgusting, and midwives often don't like you using wipes - of course I did once I got home) and a towel. Given the state of hospitals I have been in recently I am going to take some antiseptic wipes to clean any surfaces / bathrooms as needed. I wish I could come to your Aberdeen meet-up - what a great idea.

Azure · 29/06/2005 10:43

Eulalia, sports day sounds like it went really well - well done to your DS (and DD).

Twiga · 29/06/2005 11:55

Eulalia, sports day sounds like it was a lot of fun - weather has been great recently. Cloudy and a bit cooler today, which is nice. Is there a any paticular place that your ds would enjoy in terms of things being easier for him when we meet up? I don't drive but used to hopping on buses and happy to get a taxi to where-ever, can easy meet Josey at station and go from there. Have just had notification of my furniture delivery - 19th July, so wouldn't be able to make that day - no time specified. Also 16th could be tricky depending on when the postie delivers Harry Potter - apparently the books don't fit through standard letter boxes.

Beachyhead - hurrah! Bet it will be good not to have to tackle rude commuters and packed trains. I'm really not organised on a bag packing front either - am waiting for my changing bag to arrive (ordered on internet) and thought I would vaguely start thinking about packing then - will use changing bag for baby's stuff and a wee overnight case for mine. Figure at 31 weeks there's no rush! Secretly hoping I might get home within 24hrs - not keen on hsopitals.

Azure, waiting on decorators/furniture etc is exciting but a bit of a pain - I'm kinda relying on one job to be done in order to move onto the next. Hope it's not long before your decorators are in and finished!

josey · 29/06/2005 11:55

yeap schools finish on Friday so thats me kind of free also - twiga that would be good re the train station

Eulalia DS is 5 and a half,im sure they will be fine. Glad your sports day went well.

Twiga hope your not too sore today, im refusing to cut our grass this year as its all on a steep hill and i cant move the petrol mower at the best of times, my dh keeps his grass like a bowling green so he stressing, my BIL is meant to be coming to give it a run over i was going to do a bit of flower bed pottering untill when watering i noticed that a cat had pooed so leaving that also.

congrats on your last day at work beachyhead, i think that people choose not to see, also the big thing is now that your not ill you can cope your only pregnant is foremost in peoples minds.

I got asked today where i got my trousers from by the lady at our supermarket check out, she was totaly taken back when i said they were maternity, maybe i should take that as a compliment.

clinic again this afternoon, hope i dont get that stuip midwife again!

Twiga · 29/06/2005 11:57

Should probably have said am also away between 23rd-30th July in Keswick, but figured we'd probably meet up before then anyway - hope not to presumtious .

Twiga · 29/06/2005 12:07

Josey, not too bad have been sat around a lot this morning so aches and pains wearing off - honestly this nesting instinct has a lot to answer for! We've got a cat prob in our garden too so dh is def on weeding/watering duty! Discovered last night that there's a hedgehog living under our shed - spotted it when getting the washing in and that's where it disappeared to - it was very cute, dh got some pics with the camera before it disappeared. It's also solved a mystery because there has been a cat regularly coming to our garden and sleeping on our lawn whilst keepng a close eye on the shed - wandered what it was up to, though it might get a bit of a shock if it decides to tackle a hedgehog!

No problem to meet you from the station if needed - figure it might be easy enough to spot one another without resorting to red carnations !

Sounds like your bump must be very neat! All the best for clinic this afternoon.

Rochwen · 29/06/2005 12:39

This is great ! It sounds like everyone wants to meet up.

Ok let's throw around some dates:

How about the 11th, 12th, 14th or 15th of July (can't do the 13th as I have NHS classes during the day). Anytime is fine with me. We could all meet at the station and pick up whoever is coming by train. Then we could decide where to go next. Plus there are always taxies at the station for those of us who can't walk very well, i.e. me.

Have to prepare a little talk about epidurals for tonight's NCT class. Gonna be a really naughty girl and make them sound wonderful (not that I have any experience) but I know that the teacher is very anti epi, so I wanna see her face when I go round advertising them. Naughty, naughty me, lol !

kate100 · 29/06/2005 13:12

Hi all, I've been in a bit of a grump and didn't want to bring you all down, so I haven't been posting but have kept up to date with you all. Feel much better now so here goes.

I'm putting hardly anything in my bag this time. Last time I was completely taken in by all the birth aids stuff, my bag was full of crap like water sprays and massage oil, I didn't use any of it!!! I'm packing very light this time, but with more food for DH, I had a long labour and the poor thing was starving. For bubs, vests and sleepsuits, uaing one or the other depending on the weather, and a suit for coming home and the 'official' coming home/christening shawl, it's what my mom and me and my brother and ds were brought home in.
I feel very big now but I saw another mum yesterday who was surprised I only had 5 weeks to go, so maybe I'm not too big after all.

Nesting has kicked in like mad ans I'm frantically tidying cupboards. NOw that I have a cleaner I'm not so worried about the day to day, but I have this strong urge that everything must be put away in the 'right' place. This morning I rearanged my handbag drawer and stacked dh's shoes in size order!! Of course I haven't actually packed my hospital bag, which is probably a bit more of a priority, it was in the car at 34 weeks with DS, but I don;t seem to ba able to get round to it with all the organising that I'm doing.

Very jealous that you're all meeting up, but don't think I'm up to a 20ish hour round trip at this stage of pregnancy!! Have fun you lucky things

Twiga · 29/06/2005 13:23

Kate, lovely to see you posting, sorry you've been feeling down {{{hugs}}}. Food for dh sounds like a great idea, mine has a bottomless pit of a stomach, so snacks for him would be useful - good tip!

Rochwen, any of those dates are fine for me, times likewise. I've not started ante-natal classes yet and think I'll probably find out about them on the 8th when I next see mw, hopefully time/date won't clash. Have fun at NCT class .

Azure · 29/06/2005 14:17

Rochwen - I loved my epidural, if that helps. The strange thing was not feeling anything when I was pushing (I had been fully topped up as I was in theatre all prepped for a c/section) - I was told to pretend I was pushing out a big poo. Lovely.

I've just heard that someone in my department has been diagnosed with viral meningitis, although we don't yet know which type. There are 3 pregnant women in the department (due within one month of each other) and we're trying to find out what the risk is to us and the babies, as well as everyone else. Last week someone got mumps - work just isn't a healthy place to be at the moment.

Eulalia · 29/06/2005 14:32

Just a quickie as ds's bus is due any minute.

11th-15th would be fine by me. In fact earlier in the week may be better. ds has his birthday party on the 16th so will be baking a cake on the 15th. I should be a bit more relaxed as I'll have the wedding out of the way too.

As for places - well we often go to the Funky Forest if its not too far for taxi/bus people or even the park - Duthie? if the weather is fine. Hard to predict though. I assume everyone is avaible through CAT? so we can always email each other nearer the time.

I am really glad now I joined this thread and have to chance to meet up with so many people in my area The JUly thread seems to be mostly London and even further afield.

Rochwen · 29/06/2005 15:03

Great Eulalia, how about Monday the 11th then, lunchtime?
