Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MumGoneCrazy · 20/07/2009 19:03

Evening all

Had my 1st of two appointments at hosp today for my steroid injections

OMFG IT HURT

They said it would sting a little so i geared up for a little sting but it hurt and my leg went numb for a while it was funny walking afterwards

Only one more to go and thats tomorrow hopefully these injections will help the babys lungs just incase of early arrival which they have predicted they said i wont make it past 36weeks so that means only 5 more weeks until baby if they are right

They also said today that the babys weight isnt changing much and the blood flow through the cord isnt good

On the good note bp is keeping itself level for now

audreyraines · 20/07/2009 19:22

MumGoneCrazy, injection sounds horrific. Let's hope baby stays put for a bit.

bigbang · 20/07/2009 19:50

Congratulations ladylush! I am so pleased you are both well!

MCG that sounds awful! Sorry to read about your ups and downs, fingers crossed the baby makes a safe arrival in 5 weeks time.

bigbang · 20/07/2009 19:50

I mean MGC, sorry!

Neddie · 21/07/2009 08:02

MCG that sounds horrible- I have my anti-d injections tomorrow and they are in the muscle if I remember (ouch). Has someone else had a baby- I thought it was just ladylush - I am going bonkers- can't remember anything.
babylady my partner is flying in from Hamburg on Friday so maybe they are on the same plane? (that would be weird)

mumtobe23 · 21/07/2009 08:54

Morning, dont worry neddie im going mad, i had a friend in RL who's just had an early arrival and then I read on here about ladylush, i keep getting confused ATM! [BLUSH]

AprilMeadow · 21/07/2009 09:02

Morning!

MGC - that sounds awful, blinking hate injections!
Daffodilli - so pleased to see that your mum got some good news. I hope all the treatment goes well for her (and you) x
LadyLush - still cant believe we have had the first baby. Hope you are both doing well and cant wait to hear the full story.
blue I saw HP on Thursday and thought it was amazing!! It kind of made me feel like i wanted to read the book again to see what they have missed out. Dh hadnt read the book beforehand and was shocked that Dumbledore died. I cant wait for the next film(s) (they're doing it in 2 parts) as the special effects will be awesome!!
neddie hope your injections go ok today

Had a mw appt on Friday as i wasnt feeling too great and the baby's movements and bh's were really hurting. No sign of any UTI thankfully but baby has had a growth spurt. I have grown 5cm in 3 wks which now puts me 1 week ahead of where i should be. No more crowing about measuring small for me . She was also breech at that point with her head under my boobs and bottom down. Not worried though as i am sure she is now transverse breech. She is so active that she will probably keep moving until just before she comes out. DD1 was transverse breech until 2 days before her early exit.

Am now 32+1 and cant believe how the time is flying by. I have so much on over the next few weeks that it will be the end of August before i know it!! Nursery is just waiting for the curtains and the mattress. Just need to add some finishing touches, move things around several hundred times and pack/re-pack the hospital bag.

Big waves to all those i missed off x

blue76 · 21/07/2009 11:16

april I was a bit disappointed that they seemed to miss so much out...the last 2 films should be fab though!

MGC here's hoping your little one hangs on a bit longer for you!

Had 4d scan last night - OMG amazing! Will put some pics on. She's also breach - head under my boobs and sitting with her arms and legs together. Weighs 3lbs 1oz and measuring 30+1 [though my dating scan made me 31+1.

We decorated the nursery at the weekend. DP was going to paint murals but decided to paint on large canvasses instead. They look lovely. Lemon walls and 'I love my bear' theme [babies r us].

mummyhill · 21/07/2009 13:52

Just got back from physio and I won't be going back to work as she has stuck me on crutches and advised against me going back on the checkouts!

mumtobe23 · 21/07/2009 15:02

Hi all,
Sorry to hear you had a bad day y.day MGC hope you ok now.
Blue I would love a 4d scan but my DP doesn't want to spend £100 plus (that?s how much they are in Kent) on one now specially sept being so near (yet so far!) and wants to wait to see what she looks like when she?s here for real, but I'm dying to get one done!

Urgh I'm still getting the extremely broody work colleague doing my head in!
Every time I walk past her (which is pretty much all day every day) I get a barrage of questions or a boring story about someone she knows who?s recently had a baby story? I'm really not interested!
I'll be glad to finish work just to get away from her, but then I'm sure she'll still text me every day!
God I sound v miserable but she?s so irritating, I feel like saying hurry up and get pregnant yourself and stop bugging me!!

blue76 · 21/07/2009 15:58

mum2be my DP was against it at first but I managed to talk him into it...they cost £60-£140 here, depending on what you have. They call them 'bonding scans' . got 4 printed pics, 31 pics on a disc and 15 min dvd of the scan. That cost £90. Tis a lot of money, but this will be our last baby as I feel I'm getting on a bit now.
Ive put a couple on here.

nitnat84 · 21/07/2009 18:55

Blue- what fab 4D photos! How exciting. So not long for us all now. Getting closer and closer. I bet the dvd is lovely. I want one now!

SprinkleofStardust · 21/07/2009 19:30

Wow Blue, those photo's are amazing, I've been really good and not thought about having one but now I want one!!

MGC, I don't mind injections but that sounds horrible, hope your second one isn't quite so bad and little one hangs on in there.

Mumtobe, sorry your colleague is still annoying you, she does sound extremely bad!!! I'm finding that most people are irritating me at times, even when they haven't really done anything, lol!!

Really can't wait to give up work now, I'm soooo tired, still 18 working days left, can't come quickly enough

MumGoneCrazy · 21/07/2009 19:54

2nd injection wasnt as bad as 1st one as i knew what to expect but ive felt like shit ever since ive had a migrane all day, stomach ache, back ache and sharp shooting spasms going up my leg in to my buttocks up my back to my head all day and ive been sick i dont know if its because of the injection or something else

bp was a little high again but not to much, they think i might have a water infection so they have sent off a urine sample and i have to have another scan as they said the umbilical cord is not letting enough blood through but the fluid around baby is good

TheTickListQueen · 22/07/2009 01:24

Just had my clinic visit and a scan. Very quick and all good news which is a change. Baby was swallowing lots of water on the scan - looked like a goldfish and was practicing breathing. Good signs. She's head down but still floating around and I'm getting pummeled all over now. Meant to be about 5lb9oz (for what its worth) at 34 wks, just above ave.

Best news is things are looking well enough the Obs said they'd leave me till term to see if I go into labour naturally. Was under threat of being induced from 38 wks. Need the extra time as we don't move into our house for another 2.5 wks.

Hope everyone is hanging in there.

pebblebeach · 22/07/2009 12:53

Waves at everyone - been away for a week and look what happens while I'm gone - we have our first baby!

Huge congratulations ladylush, I'm so please all is well and I hope you are both recovering quickly.

And for those having needles poked in them - you have my sympathy, it sounds awful.

Will try and catch up some more now. I have 11.5days left now and it is really dragging on.

Am feeling at being "only" 32.5wks (how can I get much bigger and survive/sleep?!) and a bit OMG I'm 32.5wks (it's only 6wks!! til I'm at the same stage that DD was born).

Thusnelda · 22/07/2009 15:42

I haven't posted for ages as I was away and back and away again, and haven't really caught up yet.

Anyway. I've been going to these Antenatal Classes at Queen Charlotte's where they suddenly came up with the news that mothers over 37 will be induced at 40 weeks not 41+. Has anybody else been told that? Is it just my NHS trust's policy? I was really quite upset, especially since they could have told me that a little bit earlier. It's not like my age is a recent complication - it's been in my notes since the booking in! But overall I don't think they are very forthcoming with information anyway. The booking midwife told me to book the antenatal classes at the 20 weeks scan - when I did they said, uhh, no evening classes left, none in Brook Green (nearest to me) either, you should have called weeks ago!

Minshu · 22/07/2009 16:14

Thusnelda - I remember your problems getting antenatal classes in the first place. I've not started mine yet, but am really surprised to hear the induction terms. Surely they can't insist? Sounds a bit unnecessary to me.

I've started my wind down toward mat leave now, having today off. Feel like it's been somewhat wasted, though, as all I've managed is to get my hair cut and dial in to a bloody meeting at work. I don't even think I'll get much opportunity to take a shorter day tomorrow or Friday to make up for it, even accounting for my midwife appointment tomorrow morning [mutter, mutter, whinge, mutter] Still, only 18.5 days left (in theory).

So much to do round the house, though, and September is getting very, very close

Blue - love the scan pictures. Really looking forward to meeting my LO, but just hope that we're ready for her. Your description is similar to what I had in mind for our nursery - and I'm hoping that DP will have time to do some art work for the room, too, after he's finished the more mundane DIY jobs, as he's artistic, too.

BabyLady · 22/07/2009 20:56

Hi everyone!

Love the scan pictures Blue. What a cute little button nose!

Went for my 35 week check up today. Baby is fully engaged (ulp!). But the Dr assured me it didn't mean baby would be early. He said he just had a couple of 1st timers who were fully engaged at 32 weeks and they both went overdue. He did mention that I should get my bag packed in the next week or so though.

Thusnelda, they mentioned the 40 week induction at my NCT class- we are all going to QCs. The instructor said that in the end they couldn't force you to have it. The hard thing is that a policy like that is made to cover the masses but in your own individual case it may not be the best thing for you or your baby. No idea what you decide in this case. In any event, you would think it would be something they would mention to you so you could at least mentally prepare yourself!

Hope everyone else is well. Sorry to hear about all the jabs. They sound painful.

peachygirl · 22/07/2009 21:10

Hi everyone I've been offline for a bit What a lot has happened.
Well done LadyLush and a big welcome to your DD. That is a good weight for a little one!!
Good news about your mum too Daffodilli.
Comiserations to those ladies having injections.

Things are OK with me. DD and I went with my parents to Twycross Zoo and had a lovely time looking at all the monkeys and today DD has been at nursery so I tidied our bedroom (a job she hates) watched a bit of crap telly and wandered round the charity shops and tescos. I got two pairs of front fastening pjs for £3.50 eachin the sale I am very pleased! I also bought some big pants.

I have also thrown together a provisonal bag, containing Pjs, pants and a baby grow.

mummyhill · 22/07/2009 21:16

Have crutches and have actually used them too! That is quite a big step for me. One of the mums did turn round and say I was just doing it for attention I actually managed to ignore her and hobble past without dignifying it with a comment! Just cause I didn't broadcast round the playground about the amount of pain I have been in doesn't mean I don't need the crutches! I have been trying to laugh stuff off rather than let it get to me iyswim. Even my facebook status doesn't/didn't tell the whole story iyswim.

Have to have a growth scan on Mnday as bump is measuring well ahead of where they thin it should!

Had to see the anesthetist this week as well because the registrar thought they would be able to sway me away from my thoughts on pain relief! LOL fool. I ad already told him I am going for a nvd with just gas and air. He wanted me to consider an epidural. I had to explain I actually have quite a high pain threshold and that if they need to do an emergency sunroof job they need to knock me out as I found the whole epidural thing way to distressing when I had Nat.

So I explained all this to consultant anesthetist who just looked at me grinned and said ok mrs hill we will do a ga if we have to go for an emergency section! Score one to me. Registrar today asked if i was considering a section because he could see from my notes that I had seen an anesthetist and was surprised when I said no I want a normal delivery thanks very much cause I will recover a lot quicker and can go home sooner. SoI then had to explain about his over zealous colleague!

Why do they assume that you don't know what you want or are talking about? FFs 3rd time round I should think I have a good idea as to a) what labor is like b) my options and c) what I actually want!

Have packed stuff for the baby into a baby box today. Now I need to sort out my bag and a bag for the kids to take to nanny's when it all kicks off!

daffodilli · 22/07/2009 21:19

Hi all

Blue your scan pics are fab am so , would love to get some done!

Thusnelda am sure they cant insist you get induced? Have not heard of this before, is it some kind of new rule? The age of the mum should not really be an issue, as long as you and the baby are ok then a fortnight should be the timescale for everyone. (and am sure there are nicer induction 'methods' to try first!)

Bubs was playing scare the life out of mummy today by hardly moving until about 2.30pm, and as he generally moves non stop all day was getting ready to phone MW. Has been booting me nicely since though! Starting to bloody well hurt now. He is very good in the night though and sleeps when I do which is lovely. Who would like to place bets as to wether it will stay that way?!
Had my first Hypnobirthing class on monday which was really good. Watched 2 birth videos which I was not prepared for! DH took it very well! Both women used the Hypno techniques and did not make a sound, even when baby was crowning which I was about! What a way to give birth! Fingers crossed I can get that far. Very useful as its also antenatal stuff as well.

Bit of a me post sorry, only scanned last page quickly, hope all are well x x

daffodilli · 22/07/2009 21:28

x posts! -

Babylady - head engaged! Wow! Makes it seem real...

Mummyhill how rude and insensitive of that woman Would have been very tempted to whack her with said crutches!

bratnav · 22/07/2009 21:30

Wow what a lot has happened in a few days.

Congratulations to Ladylush and your DD.

Been frantically clenaing and sorting ready to move on Saturday, DH has been amazing and done loads for me. We had some fab news on Monday, DD2 has a place at the same school as DD1 and DSD from September, we have been traipsing round 2 different schools 3 miles apart since last October, so it is amazing news for us. Only a 10 minute stroll to 1 school now from the new house

audreyraines · 22/07/2009 21:56

Thusnelda, that sounds ridiculous, here we go from the NICE guidelines:

1.2 Induction of labour in specific circumstances

1.2.1 Prevention of prolonged pregnancy

1.2.1.1 Women with uncomplicated pregnancies should be given every opportunity to go into spontaneous labour.

1.2.1.2 Women with uncomplicated pregnancies should usually be offered induction of labour between 41+0 and 42+0 weeks to avoid the risks of prolonged pregnancy. The exact timing should take into account the woman?s preferences and local circumstances.

1.2.1.3 If a woman chooses not to have induction of labour, her decision should be respected. Healthcare professionals should discuss the woman?s care with her from then on.

1.2.1.4 From 42 weeks, women who decline induction of labour should be offered increased antenatal monitoring consisting of at least twice weekly cardiotocography and ultrasound estimation of maximum amniotic pool depth .
