I have spent 3 hours 10 minutes painting faces without a break and I am knackered!!! I have painted thousands of butterlies (well not quite that many), one spiderman, a few 'disco divas', some flowers, and a handful of puppies.

I'm ready for bed!

Tamlin that is scary because by November swin flu will probably be everywhere

weston · 04/07/2009 22:46

well another gender entry...had scan today, all looks perfectly healthy, phew can breathe now and need to come out of denial that i am actually pregnant and its a girl!! i am really pleased as my two year old is a girl and i fancied another, hubbie abit dissapointed and a mad football fan and eqautes boys with football and is wondering how he will cope with 3 women nagging him...but he had a few months to prepare himself! so once again the name dilema, loads of boys names and no girls name...gave my daughter a boys name first time around and not sure can do it again....all seems more real now..and guess can't justify a whole new baby wardrobe as bought enough for 10 first time around but next have some very cute bodysuits...and debenehmas have most divine cream cardi's which are much harder to find then u would think...

Ninjacat · 05/07/2009 00:16

Congrats Weston on the girl.

I went to dr today as pain and numbness has spread. I'm pleased to say it is just a trapped nerve and quite common but will need physio. Any how thought I'd update you just in case it happens to any others.

Beep I understand

BeckyBendyLegs · 05/07/2009 08:30

Weston congrats on a happy scan! You have the opposite problem to me; we have a long list of girls names and have run out of boys names. I don't know what I am having though. Perhaps we should swap lists?

I ache all over today - I thought facepainting only needed a strong left (in my case) arm but for some reason it must be an all-body experience as I feel as if I've done something really sporty!

ursigurke · 05/07/2009 10:52

Weston, congrats on your scan! And I think, buying a few new things is ok, as a child I hated that I only had to wear old stuff from my sister and my brother.
Ninjacat and BBL, I hope you'll both soon feel better.

ErikaMaye · 05/07/2009 12:44

Weston - congratulations on the scan

DP and I had a huge row yesterday, very embarssing. The friends we were with were mad at him for what he said to me too, she said to me while the men went to the shops. We'd been talking about my health during and after the pregnancy - I'd mentioned the fact that the physc. had suggested the possibility of physcotic break after giving birth. This is really scary to me - I've had episodes, but a break? Terrifying. And he said to me at one point, "Do you really have to tell me that? I don't need it rubbed in my face." I was really suprised and hurt - surely he had to know to be aware and deserved to know? We're okay now, but was rather humiliating at the time.

Broodzilla · 05/07/2009 18:29

Hello all,

Hope the weather has cooled down all over? I for one am enjoying the chill in the air!

Am knackered though, and have given in and started having coffee (only one mug a day) as I'd be a zombie without it. DH seems to disapprove a bit, but I pretend not to notice.

Just wanted to ask about the Strep B thing (sorry if it has already been dealt with, I missed the last couple of weeks), but how do you know you have it? Have you got ill and been tested, or been tested as routine and found out that way? I'm asking because I know that for example in the US, everyone gets screened for it and here they don't seem to do it. Not that I need any more things to obsess about, but...

I'm off to start the pizza dough.
Hope you're all having a lovely Sunday.

Broodzilla · 05/07/2009 18:30

Ooh, and congratulations on the little girl, Weston!

BeckyBendyLegs · 05/07/2009 18:40

We're watching the Wimbles final - wow what an epic match!

helips · 05/07/2009 19:22

Hello everyone!

I am so jealous of everyone that went to see Blur , I was a massive blur fan in my yoof! My best friend went on Friday and rang me up to tell me she was thinking of me as we used to go and see them play live 15 years ago, god writing that makes me feel old!!

weston congrats on the girl, and I would still go and buy a few new bits. If I have another boy I'm sure that won't stop me from shopping!

ninjacat glad you are ok and it was nothing serious, hopefully the numbness will go soon.

erika sorry to hear about your row, but sometimes men come out with the most ridiculous comments. Hope you've made up now.

I've got a bit of a cold and it's making me really fed up. At least I think it's a cold, either that or pregnancy related stuffy nose or dum dum daaaaa could it be swine flu

Was really annoyed with dh's family this morning. Went to a family picnic at the beach for his sisters birthday and when we got there his sister and dad were really moody. Turns out they were annoyed because we were only staying a few hours, not the whole day and were leaving at 12.30pm so ds could nap. Ds was grumpy too because he was tired. Fil had a go at my dh which made me cross then there was a horrible atmosphere, it was so pathetic. And to be honest they probably couldn't care a less if we were there, they just wanted to play with ds, as per usual. Poor dh always gets ignored. Anyway, rant over!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

beepbeep · 05/07/2009 19:48

Just finished DS's birthday party, was a success but knackered now! Poor little man cried when everyone sang happy birthday to him!

Broodzilla - Strep B - the reason I was tested was because i thought my waters may have been leaking slightly couple of days before DS' birth, had him at a birthing centre and they tested for infections when I thought they were leaking. In england women are not tested as a matter of course (though alot of people argue they should be). If yu wish you can ask your MW to have you tested or you can get a private test and pay for it to be analysed (some say these are more accurate) - your MW could still take the swab for you if you wanted, think it costs about £30 (maybe less). I think it's something that most people know very little about until it affects them or someone they know (or maybe i was just ignorant!!), but on now knowing more about it i think it's pretty scary that it is not tested for as routine as the implications can be horrendous if the baby does contract it.

Ninjacat · 05/07/2009 20:13

Broodzilla I was tested at EPU as I had an infection in early pg. Didn't even know they had tested me until I got a phone call with the results!

Still not found the courage to try the garlic therapy

katster37 · 05/07/2009 21:57

Hi all!

Weston congrats on the girl! Def think you can justify a couple of bits for her! I wouldn't be able to resist if I were you!

Raggie I was at Blur on Thurs - I wonder if I saw you?!?! It was absoultely amazing wasnt it. I also used to be a massive blur fan and can't believe how many years it was!! Also - swine flu in your school? That is terrifying.
Am also terrified about swine flu, although was talking to a friend who is a GP in Birmingham and she said the vast majority of cases really haven't been too severe. She said the worst time to get it is between 32 - 36 weeks when you might end up getting induced, so in September I reckon we should all go into hiding!

Did anyone see the Wimbledon final?!?! Was really disappointed Roddick didn't win... But watch a match!

Yuck Monday tomorrow...

pinkfizzle · 05/07/2009 23:23

Many congrats Weston on the girl.

Lurking and burping and posting to prove that I can stay up past 11pm... Woo hoo.

Have a good week ahead everyone.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 05/07/2009 23:32

just checking in and bookmarking. been busy, and sick over last couple weeks. Its my birthday next weekend and people are hassling me to celebrate, somehow. I just want to do nothing. I am not being miserable, honestly. I really honestly truly would like to not celebrate it this year. I mean I have already, we went to see Bruce Springsteen play. But I am tired, its been DHs birthday, father's day, DDs birthday, bruce springsteen, baby shower today, all since 11 June. I just want a tidy house (sore subject ), and to I don't know, play guitar hero on the x-box or something all day. I don't even want to go camping or to the beach with the canoe. I just want some peace and to sit down. But no, apparantly its not right that I should have no effort made for my birthday, and I should not miss out .

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 05/07/2009 23:33

Congrats on the girl weston by the way! and to all those I have not caught up with, hope the scans are going well

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 05/07/2009 23:34

the first line of the first post should read 'been busy over last few weeks, been sick over last few days. Not been sick for weeks, just since friday

DeathbyDora · 06/07/2009 04:47

Hi all, hope scans are all going well. Found out our little one (DC #3) is going to be a girl so DD is delighted. Poor DS is going to be sandwiched between 2 bossy sisters but I have to admit the thought of another boy like him did terrify me!!

Broodzilla, FYI I had Group B strep with DS so probably have it with this one. Just needed antibiotics during labour and my doctor really didn't make too much of a big deal about it once it was diagnosed. They don't test for it routinely in the UK unfortunately so you may need to ask for a specific test if they will do them.

Have been in Texas since Feb and heading home on Tuesday! Hurray! Did an online shop yesterday and was SOOO excited at all the english food! Waitrose Veggie Moussaka, jaffa cakes, warburtons bread and sandwich spread. Oh my God I'm going to be the size of a small rhinoceros by the time my due date comes around!!

Hope everyone is well.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 06/07/2009 06:48

congrats to the baby girl deathbydora (loving the name btw, its so true eh? ), how do you like Texas. My BIL spends a lot of time there on business and he raves about it, and MILs new toy boy is a texan. His accent is really weird

BeckyBendyLegs · 06/07/2009 08:31

Pavlov you should just do whatever you want on your birthday. The Celebrate Police should respect that.

We need an electrician - the sittingroom and kitchen keep tripping the switch thingy (you can tell I am an expert) and we can't use the dishwasher, TV, or any lights in the sittingroom, or sockets in the sittingroom. Hmmm.

I am very at those who have seen Blur. I was a first year student when 'there's no other way' came out and in those days we thought 'indie' music was so fab - Soup Dragons, Pop Will Eat Itself, Blur, Dee-light, Happy Mondays, the Farm - oh the nights I have bopped unitl I dropped to those tunes in my big DMs and tie-die shirts and leggings.

pinkfizzle · 06/07/2009 09:22

Pavlov playing guitar hero sounds fab, a tidy house for a bday present sounds like a plan.

Deathbydora I am the size of a large rhinoceros so just visualise that you are standing next to me and you will feel pretty and petite.

BeckyBendyLegs - grove is in the heart - what a great track.

tigger32 · 06/07/2009 10:05

Morning all, hope everyone had a good weekend.

Broodzilla I was tested for stepB whilst in labour with ds2, it was a University hospital and is done routinely there. I also had a swab taken by my gp early in pg as I had alot of discharge and was told that strepb would have been picked up on that too, if you are concerned ask your midwife or gp if they can teat you, if not like Beepbeep said I'm sure you can get tested privately.

Has anyone worked out the ratio of boys to girls yet (so far)? I think we seem to be going towards more girls.

pav good luck with the birthday plans, I hope you can keep it quiet.

tigger32 · 06/07/2009 10:06

oops Ask your gp or midwife if they can test you

Tamlin · 06/07/2009 10:27

Pavlov, maybe you could have a housecleaning party with you esconced on the couch, directing proceedings. Cake for everyone when the house is spotless.

I like to think of myself as an elephant seal rather than a rhinoceros. (Although the latter are notoriously cranky, so that might fit better...) Was just reading that the NHS recommends that women of average BMI gain between 10 and 12.5 kg during their pregancies - at 22 weeks, I've gained 7 kg. Hee.

We do seem to have more girls, don't we? I've just taken it into my head that this baby feels more like a Barnaby than a Sebastian, and when I told my husband, he gave me a dead-eyed stare and said: 'YOU thought he felt like a Matilda.' I suppose Barnaby's out then...

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 06/07/2009 10:33

tamlin i like that idea! My bf said she would come over to help clean but feel like its taking the pee a bit! People like their birthday generosity to be fun-giving not a chore!

Weight, do you know I am actually a bit envious of those putting on weight? I weighed myself yesterday, and I am exactly the same weight as I was at 10 wks. Which is good as I had been losing weight, but still - i have some great maternity clothes but cannot wear them! Although I did buy a nice black jersey dress from Red Herring last week.
