A huge thanks everyone for the advice re funeral.Decided not to go in the end after talking to DH and my mum. More than anything, it's the drive (3 hrs+ from where I am and I couldnd't do more than 40 mins of the drive there on Sat) but I also wouldn't have been able to forgive myself if I'd put the baby at risk. I got calls from 2 of my other cousins that had been planning to go but changed their minds after the swine flu news. One has diabetes and has been hospitalised twice with pneumonia this year, the other works in a hospital and didn't want to risk it. Their parents, my other uncle and my mum are going though. It was my dad's brother who died and as my dad died 15 years ago, my mum will represent us. The're also all going in one car which is good. Feel a bit bad that out of my massive family so few are going but cousin seems to understand. Gemma, the daughter with swine flu seems to be doing ok on Relenza but will also not be there now.

We all seem to be struggling a bit with uncomfotable bumps-not long to go thank God! Interesting to hear all the advice on reusables, thanks so much fot that as I didn't have a clue where to start.

LittleMissBliss · 06/08/2009 08:33

I'm so tired all the time, i have to force myself out of bed and then doze half sleep on the sofa whilst ds trashes the front room with his toys. Then have some breakfast and sit like a zombie untill about 8.45. When i realise i really must get ds in the bath.

Oh well 8 weeks to go (6 please).

On a plus note i've just found out they make touche eclat for black/asian skin! Life saver so i can pretend to look human on a day to day basis!

Sammysam Did you find a hairdressers in poole in the end? I really need a hair cut. I usually go to Dorchester but would prefer to find a hair dressers in Poole as i've been living here for nearly two years now!

sammysam · 06/08/2009 09:09

HappyT-I think you have made the right decision.

LMB-no recommendations yet-am really loathed to just 'try' one as I have had bad experiences in the past! Not sure where to go. Normally if I've just tried somewhere i've gone the expensive route to be safe and been very happy but really need somewhere about half the price now Tis normally over £100 for the colour and cut and I just can't justify it I'm the same-been traveling back to Taunton for the last 3 years-really time to find a local one!!
Please let me know if you hear of a good one-really really need to go before the end of september!!!!

I have no energy today-I have so much to do-and I really want to do it-just can't physically do it

KKKKaty · 06/08/2009 09:38

Re reusable nappies - I went to see my local Lollipop lady a couple of weeks ago and found it really helpful. She talked through and showed us all the different options and variations and told us all about nappy buckets and laundry etc. which was really helpful. We've bought 5 nappies from her to start with - all different kinds, plus a bucket, and a couple of washable wipes. We're going to try all these out in the first few weeks in between disposables and then order a load more from her, when we've worked out which ones we want. I totally recommend going this route as I found it impossible to make any decisions about which nappies to try just from websites alone - impossible to visualise what they were like. The website is: www.teamlollipop.co.uk.

Treats · 06/08/2009 11:30

Had a call from my sister last night - also 7 months' pregnant - to say that her DH has swine flu! I immediately invited her to come and stay with us until he was in the clear but she pointed out that if she'd caught it, she'd risk passing it onto me. So I told her not to come to us under any circumstances......

She's in a bit of a bind actually. Apart from me, her three closest friends are all either pregnant or have very young children, and our mother is due to go into hospital for an operation today, so she didn't feel there was anywhere else she could go without putting vulnerable people at risk. In the end, she had to go back home with her DH but said she'd immediately confine him to isolation in the spare room. Poor thing - miserable to have caught such a nasty illness and then to be denied the comforts of your wife making a fuss of you.

Haven't spoken to her today - annoyingly, I left my phone at home this morning - but have just emailed to see if she's alright. We were going to go for a joint baby shopping outing at the weekend, which we've now had to put on hold.

HappyTangerine - glad you made a decision that you're happy with. It's a real pain, but as the others have said, I think the long journey would have tipped the scales for me as well.

KKKaty - we had a long chat with a woman in a shop local to us about reusable nappies and I definitely found it more useful than surfing websites. Will go back there to get ours, even if they're not the cheapest.

theboob · 06/08/2009 19:24

peachespaige · 07/08/2009 07:55

Morning all.
Ive been so busy with my boys Ive only had chance to read your posts but not reply.
ht Good decision in the long run

km my friend has loads of washable nappies she said I could have but its just all that washing and soaking..... Do they have a pad or something that you remove?

tb Congratulations on passing your exams. 2010 will be here before you know it!

treats Sorry to hear about your bil. My youngest has had swine flu, thankfully I didnt catch it.

Sorry if Ive missed anyone. Well what a week its been. I went to hospital for my Glucose test and ended up with 3 nurses all trying to take blood whilst it was fountaining out of one arm. Total nightmare. Then I had to rush home and go to my friends funeral which was very sad and very difficult. She left 2 small children 4 and 6. Bloody cancer from diagnosis to her passing was barely 4 months.

Ive been swimming with the boys this week and I took them to a woods and then to a big playground with water shooters etc all day and have walked miles Im now very sore! Think Ill drive to the park today.

sammysam · 07/08/2009 08:08

Morning!

Congratulations Treats! Does the condition just mean you have extra fluid? Exciting/scary getting a date for induction!

Peaches-I'm so sorry about your friend. 4 months Huge hugs. I suppose the tiny comfort was that she wasn't suffering for long. Her poor family

Re nappies-there are loads of different types. You don't have to soak-I never did-just dry pailed. Found it very very easy-just one wash a day or less often when they get through less. Didn't really have to even think about it. I was so shocked by the amount of nappies a baby gets through and how much room the disposables took up in the bin-and that was one baby Plus the cost.

Picked my ring back up yesterday and now I think it is too small really don't want to have to take it and send it away for another 10 days.....

Have the mw later-i MUST remember to ask for the health in pg form!!!!! Can't believe i'm 33wks at the weekend. Still nothing sorted

The sun is shining this morning-lets hope it stays......for the next few months!!!!

BellaCullen · 07/08/2009 10:11

Congratulations theboob for passing your exam.2010 will definitely come round quicker than you think.

Cant believe how quickly this pregnancy is going 32 weeks today.Am hoping for only 6 more weeks, yikes that sounds so soon and still need to nget things.Suffering with SPD quite badly at moment too am in agony when getting up from sofa or driving.Meeting MW next tue lets see how big Ive got and wondering what position he`s in as seems to be doing somersaults constantly.

Have a good weekend everyone.

sammysam · 07/08/2009 10:14

Whoops-that should read CONGRATULATIONS BOOB!!!! not treats

littlepea72 · 07/08/2009 11:15

Hi everyone!! Im going to try & remember as much as i can, sorry if i leave alot of you out.

Sammysam, you will find that your fingers are a bit big at the moment with the pregnancy, dont touch it untill after the baby is born, as it will no doubt be a perfect fit! lol...

Peaches, so sorry about your friend, 4 months was very quick for the family.

TB, well done on your exams!!

Im happy to hear im not the only one who rolls out of bed, gets downstairs and then rolls onto the sofa! I dont have anything left. Went to see my MW last tuesday & she told me ive lost too much weight, if i dont put some on then she will have me in hospital, think she is only trying to scare me , she says my body is living of the fat now, but i swear, im trying to eat, i just feel full all time.

Not long untill we go back home on holiday. Thank god the car is really comfy, as we are doing the trip in one day (over 1000 miles) but i would rather get it out of the way instead of stopping at a hotel, getting up and starting to drive again. I have only 9 days to eat all my favorite food that i miss...mostly fish & chips!! .

Right....im off to lie down on the sofa again...might just stay there all week!!

xxx

Treats · 07/08/2009 12:28

sammysam - you had me all confused there - i was wondering what I was being congratulated for! Well done theboob - and good luck for your course next year.

My BIL is recovering and my sister hasn't shown any symptoms yet, so we're all keeping our fingers crossed. We've agreed between us not to say anything to our mum until the crisis is safely passed - she's the world's biggest worrier and needs to recover from her operation.

littlepea - I'm of the sofa. I'm counting down the 5 weeks (from Monday) before I start mat leave and can come and join you there. Finding it really hard to get a good night's sleep now. Was so knackered after work and a pregnancy yoga class yesterday that I had to ask DH to come and collect me from the station - I normally walk there and back without any trouble.

Hope everyone else is OK.

LittleMissBliss · 07/08/2009 19:02

TheBoob CONGRATS!

Treats Glad to hear your SIL is still not showing symptoms.

littlepea I love my sofa have not much energy at the moment damn anemia and crappy iron tablets that make me feel awful and are the devil where bowel movements are concerned.
32 weeks on Monday and have the MW on Tuesday may be able to get something nicer prescribed.

Sammysam Had my hair cut at Toni and guy in Poole town centre today, as didn't have ds this afternoon. Had a newish qualified guy do my hair so only cost £30 which isn't too bad. He did a really good job too.

Also with my HIP form it took only a week for the money to arrive it came on The following Tuesday with my working tax credits.

I feel really bad for not even contemplation washables but i hate washing. Can't be doing with extra washing .

Off for a meal tonight as freind who's husband is in the forces is leaving for Germany tomorrow! She has a ds who is a month older than my ds and is three months pregnant.

LittleMissBliss · 07/08/2009 19:03

Treats, sister not SIL sorry.

fidelma · 07/08/2009 22:55

boobwell done.chillout now and enjoy this baby.It will be 2010 before you know it.

peachesGutted about your friend. We have a friend who is going through the same thing and it is so painfull for everyone.Sometimes I can't even think about it.You sound like you are having fun with the boys.

I have had more energy today and felt less sick.I ate every 2 hours throughout the night.Small pieces of flapjack and today I have been a different person.I need to go to the loo so am awake anyway.I have a big pot of yogurt tonight so fingers crossed. It will do the same.

We have a quiet weekend ahead so looking forward to the good weather.

smallone · 08/08/2009 09:49

Morning all, hope everyone has a good weekend. Got back from our camping trip yesterday, DH has really missed us! bless! Managed to knock my chair over as I plonked myself down on it and landed smack in the mud on my coccyx. Very, very painful! Couldn't do anything for about 3 days. I never want to do that again. I felt a slight popping sensation at my cervix and scared myself that my waters would break, but they didn't and baby is kicking away happily. Got my mw appt on tues so, will tell her then and I hope she doesn't shout at me!

Was driving back from my mums yesterday (took 4hrs, should have taken 2.5!) and was thinking to myself that next time I make that journey, there'll be an extra person in the car!

KleineMaus · 09/08/2009 10:00

It's gone a bit quiet on here. Where is everyone? Having said that, I haven't much to report either. DH is away just now - 1 week down, 2 more to go! Took DS (3) to the beach yesterday. Felt a bit conspicuous and as largely pregnant lady struggling alone with a small child and large bag of stuff. We've been potty training and couldn't decide whether or not to haul the potty with me too as well as all the other junk, food, bucket and spade, blanket, spare clothes etc etc. As it was DS had his first al fresco pee. Searching along the dunes for a discreet place to pee DS announced loudly to several people that we were looking for somewhere to hide and do a pee! Very discreet!

What's everyone else been up to?

fidelma · 09/08/2009 12:14

Having a lovely weekend at home.BBQ with friends yesterday and pottering around slowly.Off to wash down car seat, buggy and pram and then we will keep them in the house, instead of the garage with the swallows mice etc!!!!
Baby kicking loads.

HumphreysCorner · 10/08/2009 09:06

Treats · 10/08/2009 11:26

HI everyone

Just marking my place really. Had a lovely weekend. Was out every night, just spending time with friends. Was talking to DH last week about how I wanted to see 'everyone' before the baby comes and we opted for trying to set up a few dinners here and there rather than one big party. Managed to cross 7 people off my list this weekend! Was good for me as well, as I've been hibernating at home a bit and not really wanting to go out. Good to get off my arse and remind myself that pregnancy no longer means that women have to hide themselves away for the final three months!

HC - glad you had a good week and hope this means that you and your DH have come through your sticky patch.

KleineMaus - know what you mean about feeling conspicuous. Wish I could leave the bump at home sometimes......

Sister still not developed any flu symptoms and her DH should be out of the danger zone now so we have our fingers crossed!!

CalypsoFlame · 10/08/2009 19:48

Evening ladies!

Have been stuck in bed with bad asthma, a very unpleasant chest infection and a stuffy head cold I caught at the doctors, lovely :D Don't usually do being ill in bed but have been sleeping for 18-20 hrs a day so clearly body struggling to grow baby and fight the infection. Plus its suprisingly painful to have a coughing fit when 32+ weeks pregnant! {massages tender tummy muscles that baby is gleefully kicking from the inside}

In short wah wah wah

Belated Congrats Sammysam - took 9 years for DH to agree to get married (note lack of the word 'proposal') so thats good going! Hope you have a lovely wedding next year!

Well done boob Hope you enjoy your course!

smallone ouch, poor you, sounds like quite a nasty accident

re-usables have purchased some biodegradable disposables to start with, and friend has given me 20 new Lambykins terry cloth nappies which aren't really what I would have gone for myself - look very complicated and bulky but will give them a try. Have heard nothing but good words for the motherease wraps, so the lambykins may have to be 'passed on' sooner rather than later!

Sling arrived last week (too ill to open the door to postie nor cycle to the sorting office to pick up so not actually seen it!). Did that thing that some people do: lots of research, carefully whittle down to a shortlist, then randomly spontaneously get something completely different, haha. Got this one: www.calinbleu.com/fleece-baby-slings-pumpkin-p-79.html.
Looks nice and cosy for the autumn/winter.

Hope everyone is having a good start to the week X

sammysam · 10/08/2009 20:26

Calypso-Get well soon-that sounds really nasty indeed Thank you! We're struggling to work out what we are going to do for the wedding-starting to stress me out as we need to sort at least some stuff in the next 7wks or else it won't be til after the New Year!!!!
I like the look of your sling! Can I ask what the ones on your shortlist were? I've been looking and going round and round.....DP doesn't think I need another one...I know better

I'm SO knackered after the weekend-we had a big party at my mums. It has really taken it out of me-so much so that I haven't been able to move today not good when I have so much to do!

MeHimCatBlob · 10/08/2009 21:40

Hi all

just catching up quickly but need sleep as i have to leave at 5.45 tomorrow for meetings - the joy of work

Jellytots - so pleased i'm not the only mad person working till late in their pregnancy - i also finish on 16th Oct and am due 25th

Treats - how did you get a free changing bag from Boots?

finally found out why i havent really felt anything at all - my placenta is at the front - MW at 28 week appointment is gaily telling me to contact the hospital if i dont feel baby move at least 10 times per day - i then pointed out that i have never felt the baby move 10 times a day - she back trakced at that point and told me to monitor it!

also found out I'm anaemic so now on iron tablets

thanks for all the info on washable nappies - got a starter set from Cotton tails at 75% discount thanks to my local council so will try them in combination with disposables

off to bed, also dreaming of cake

twinklegreen · 11/08/2009 09:35

Hi everyone, back from a lovely 2 weeks away, just catching up on everyone's news.

Well done boob on the exam results.

calypso hope you're feeling better soon, sound horrible

mehimcatblob my placenta is at the front too, they told me at my 20 week scan so haven't been overly concerned about movements. DD didn't fidget much but DS was constantly kicking, so it varies alot anyway.

Finally got results back from DD's biopsy. It was a very rare bone tumor called Cranial Fasciitis you can read about it here if you want. We are hoping that she will be discharged at the appointment next week.

Anyway, can't believe I've only got 6weeks 6days to go! Actually as my original date was 9th Sept, hoping it might be a little less! Starting to think about names, birth plans and hospital bags now

twinklegreen · 11/08/2009 09:38

Have posted a baby names thread too twinkle's baby names
