Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BabyBolat · 25/04/2009 15:36

LAuren - am sure it will happen for you soon -if they are already 10-15 mins apart - maybe tomorrow???

LaurenIsMoreThanReadyToPop61 · 25/04/2009 15:51

I really really hope so BB, its just the irregularity of it, need them coming keener! When i had them last week they just stopped, I've got a good feeling this time but don't want to get my hopes up too much in case it isn't anything. The sweep was bloody harsh though! I was ff..ff..fff-in and then afterwards i said, "i really think i need to trump now" She moved out the way sharpish
(I didn't trump btw ) Both midwives touched his head!!

Just put contraction master on, make it easier to see whats happening

surprisenumber3 · 25/04/2009 15:55

lol about the trumping Lauren - I really needed to wee when she did mine!

When I had my second sweep the MW said she could feel her head sideways and feel the line all the way down her head and I was like ahhhhhhh

Hope it works Lauren, don't mind if you leave me, honest!!

LaurenIsMoreThanReadyToPop61 · 25/04/2009 15:59

Noo im not leaving you!! Are you having any pains or twinges??

It was just funny cos I was squirming and ff..fff-in then as soon as she'd done "i really need to trump" lol

surprisenumber3 · 25/04/2009 16:01

only in my cervix where the baby is going crazy and everytime she does a big movement I get a gush of water. No contractions or anything.

How are yours going?

LaurenIsMoreThanReadyToPop61 · 25/04/2009 16:05

I haven't had any leakages or fluids today, just a little bit of show, nothing exciting! Just had 2 contractions 6m47s apart lasting 30s but the second one was nowhere near as painful as the first... they keep going like that, one intense then one a bit more mild.. still really active baby, lots of rib breaking kicks!

Really hurts when i walk atm, makes me go dizzy

is it still your hind waters gushing? x

surprisenumber3 · 25/04/2009 16:09

it must be hindwaters I think - I don't know really but I would feel silly to go back to LW again with the same thing! I can't feel any high up kicks at the moment, just really low down in my bum and cervix like she's really trying to get out! Feel them loads more if I lie on my side.

I just mowed half the lawn and then had to stop because I went all dizzy.

LaurenIsMoreThanReadyToPop61 · 25/04/2009 16:22

aww noo your lawn!! dont overdo it hun, MW said to me to stay active but with frequent rests and snacks,so you got energy just in case, thats what i was like when i thought mine had gone, you dont want to look like a hypochondriac! shitthebed just had a proper painful one ouuuchhh

Fingers crossed for us chick!! And sarah she's overdue same amount as us too, wonder if shes having anything exciting happening?

surprisenumber3 · 25/04/2009 16:23

painful is good!

LaurenIsMoreThanReadyToPop61 · 25/04/2009 16:28

i knoooow its just hard to remember that when its there haha!! we like pain

surprisenumber3 · 25/04/2009 16:36

I was in really bad pain just actually, shouted so loud everyone came running up. Not contraction like at all, just severe pain in cervix/bum that wouldn't go, followed by a huge gush that has soaked everything. Feel okay now though!

gingersarah · 25/04/2009 16:59

Nothing happening here. Nothing to report anyway...

I am gestating like an elephant.

BoffinMum · 25/04/2009 17:20

Bloody hell I'm glad I have had mine already. I have not forgotten the labour but I have started to forget how awful the last days are. My sympathies, ladies. xx

hello!

another kick in the pelvis for nutty's nasty MW, some commiseratory hugs to my overdue pals and hello to all the yummy mummies x

sunny here today, loads of leaves and blossom, and I've been for a swim and discovered if you put a kiddies float under the small of your back then you can float on your back like some huge pregnant island and actually be comfortable for a bit. then boyfriend took me shopping and bought me 3 inch red slingback sandals! yesterday I climbed a big hill and felt strong and happy. tommorow i'm going on a hunt for a bluebell wood. everyday I'm overdue I'm going to enjoy and soak up the freedom and ability to do what I want. i'm a positive frekkles today! yeeeee ha

frekkles · 25/04/2009 18:33

well done smutty lass x how is your spd now?

BoffinMum · 25/04/2009 18:39

Ooooh Nutty, I am in tears now. What a wonderful woman you are, managing to do it the traditional way after all, with barely a graze to your lady parts. Tis a truly amazing thing you have done.

I am so glad Tiahna is OK (Felix didn't breathe at first either and was also full of gunk, but probably not as much, luckily the cord did the job for him for the first five minutes or so, but it was pretty scary for me as well tbh - you think omigod omigod all this and they might die, don't let them die, etc etc, so I know where you are coming from).

Now it sounds like you are about to enter into a civil partnership with the angel mw, and I am wondering if we will all be invited???

nutty: awwww, your daughter is just adorable - soooo cute! Such a shame that you had such a hard time tho! You getting a lovely midwife in the end reminds me of my first baby (induced hospital, instead of a planned homebirth). I had 2 very young girls as my midwives for the first 9 hours - one had just qualified as a midwife and the other wasn't much better - don't think either had even had a baby before themselves! They were OK but just didn't seem to have a clue about anything. I'd been hooked up to drip for 9 hours with awful contractions (and no pain relief till g & a in the end) and had no progres w/ my labour. Around the shift change at midnight they noticed baby was in distress & one doctor suggested I needed a c/s - however once they turned drip off, baby's heart rate stabilised and a 2nd doctor came in & told me I had lots of options (rather than the previous c/s only - from a doc w/ student....who I think just wanted a practise session! ) Anyway, had an epidural so I could relax (and therefore baby be relaxed) and I got 2 different midwives at the shift change - lovely ladies, both very experienced (you could just tell!) prob in their 50s - and they were so calm, helped me stay calm - and 3 hours later, my baby was born, in a very calm & peaceful environment! It made such a difference having someone positive and who knows what they're doing! So I know just how pleased you were with the lovely mw you had in the end!

Hope you get some needed rest and enjoy your lovely wee girl! xx

OddEyes · 25/04/2009 23:33

hey, just running in for a quick scan. congrats to all, mums, babes and waiting mums - think we all doing so well, looking forward to reading birth stories and doing proper catch up.

anyone heard from my buddy conker? trista and purple have babys after their early morning contractions on thursday, but no word from conker...shall I text?

gingersarah · 25/04/2009 23:40

Congratulations again Nutty! Both of your girls are so gorgeous. What a story, and what a conclusion to a gruelling journey.

I went for a hobble this evening onto the common (about 100 yards) and looked down at the funfair and wondered which of the rides might be best to bring on labour - but decided discretion might be the better part of valour and went back to the car.

I can't believe I might have a baby soon. I mean, I really should, unless something awful happens. How did I get this far without taking that in?

soon2befamilyof4 · 25/04/2009 23:56

Aww, Nutty glad you are ok! Sorry to hear you had such a hard time, but good to know you had a good outcome in the end!

Well we are home from birthing centre, as you have already heard I had my baby girl yesterday morning. Talia weighing 7lb 6oz. Lovely labour. Only pain relief was gas and air. Perfect in every way except I wanted a water birth but didn't get that (only because it was still filling up when head was coming out!).

I am pretty sure I actually went into very early labour on wednesday night, when I was complaining I couldn't sleep and had pains. I think because I had false alarms in the past I was just in denial of actually being in labour! I am glad though as it made the whole process seem so much quicker. And dispite having no sleep for about 48 hours before labour I was up and about 10 mins after placenta delivered - shatting away on the phone and brastfeeding away absolutly wide awake. I am going to sound like I am a big head now but I am actually so proud of myself for doing so well. Last time I got very stressed early on in labour (due to awful hospital/midwives mainly). Where as this time, nobody wanted to believe me I was far on in labour because I was just coping so well, chatting away between contractions as if nothing was happening. At my one and only internal I was 8cm, which was an internal to check if I was ready for them to start filling the pool up (they wanted me to be at least 4-5 cm). 10 mins later, I was pushing! lol.

I actually chose to stay overnight too, they gave me the choice to go home in the evening or stay the night and dispite hating hospitals, I stayed. The birthing centre was just so lovely, I felt as relaxed as if I was at home and right the way through my labour I was the one making the decisions, doing exactly what I wanted to do etc instead of being told what to do. I spent a good part of my labour in the day room, which was the equivilant to going to the antinatal ward I guess but sooo much better. We were watching TV, relaxing on the sofa/birthing ball, doing exactly what I would have been doing if I was in labour at home, but with somebody bringing me all I need!

Throughout my stay there I was offered tea/coffe/toast/anything I wanted really. All the MW were fantastic, I couldn't fault them AT ALL.

I will do a full birth story soon, but in general it was very good!

First 2 days with DD2, Talia have gone well, she slept most of yesterday, after a good feed and recovered from birth. She then woke up for the evening visiting hours which tired her out ready for bed! She settled at about 10pm and I got into bed, she slept till 4am!!! Then had a really good feed for most of the hour and went back to bed about 5am after nappy change etc. She has been good today, got discharged about 3pm. We got home and then went out to harvester with MIL who had taken DD1 out for the day so we were collecting her too iyswim.

Have used a vibrating bouncy chair for DD2 tonight which she loved, but bit worried that she would wake and cry everytime we switched it off - so thinking maybe it would get her in a really bad habit if we started using it a lot??

Breastfeeding going OK. Nipples a bit sore, not enjoying it that much TBH but will carry on. Got black nipples from all the sucking. lol.

Talia is trying to lift her head??? 1 day old? She looks like she is going to do herself an injury! Lol.

Nutty what a lovely lovely end to a horrible experience - thiana and pheonix are beautiful - loving tianha's outfit btw! And ur last midwife sounds just wonderful!! Will post more gush tomorrow x

Soon2be what an amazing experience - where about is ur mlu? Talia sounds wonderful cannot wait for more story and pics!

In the style of nutty am going to get all gushy now (it's 4am I'm allowed!!) just want to say how proud I am of everyone on this thread. I think we've all done so ridiculously well - was thinking about all the birth stories some of which are harrowing ( nutty / schumtes etc) but also everything we've overcome (boffin in particular) the way the first timers have coped, and how u old pro's have managed to do this while still being wonderful mums to ur other lo's- everyone has had their issues but we've gotten through it and those left standing (or waddling) are doing so with tremendous strength grace and laughter! That dpesnt even capture everything i wamt it too (like springys 7week labour, major house moves, jpb troubles, weddings, funerals, dh/dp moments!)
Really think u are all an amazing bunch of ladies and am truly thankful to have found this site and u all!!!

Gosh am not normally that blurgh about things better go to sleep before I start gushing to dh about my love for him too! He will wonder where his real wife has gone!

Night night xxx
