Sounds frustrating (and ouchy rachel. What does MW say?

Swaliswan · 08/04/2009 10:26

Good morning, Ladies!

Nutty, I like the 'why are we waiting' thread title.

Please feel free to not read any of the following waffle. I feel a lot better just for typing it up.

I woke up this morning feeling really depressed again and fed up that yet another day of false labour has not done anything to get this baby out! I know that I'm not due for a couple of weeks yet but I am getting exhausted from the stop-start nature of pre-labour that I am having. And, I'm now 19 days more pregnant than I ever managed with DD so it seems like a long time to me!

Anyway, I am a now because I started thinking about why was I having such problems with my body trying to get me into labour and not getting anywhere? I am also terribly fed up with the excrutiating round ligament pain that I am getting. So, I turned to google and discovered a few things. Apparently the stop-start nature of my pre-labour and the round ligament pain are classic of an OP baby. It seems that the baby is having problems stimulating labour because it's head just can't get into a good position and put the pressure needed onto my cervix. In the night I had the most horrendous pain and could see that baby was trying to turn but couldn't because my round ligament on one side is too tight. This can be quite common and often when this happens it ends up that a woman can have weeks of her body trying to labour without success and then having a syntocinon drip to make her contractions happen and then finally ending up with a C-section as things don't progress.

Anyway, it was great to read that all of my symptoms are quite typical of an OP baby and why they are happening. But, clearly when I'm doing all of the right stuff to turn this baby and not slouching on the sofa, I need a bit of help to sort things out. So, I have discovered that you can have osteopathy or cranial osteopathy to help release the tight ligament and help the baby to get into an OA position. I know a brilliant osteopath who treated DD when she was born so I have an appointment on saturday I'm managing to do something to bring this hell of stop-start pre-labour to an end and I feel so much brighter for it!

Well done if you have managed to read my waffle

minush · 08/04/2009 10:28

Great news Swali! So good to know what the problem is AND that there is a solution

Swaliswan · 08/04/2009 10:28

Wow, someone actually read all my waffle!

JuwEggsm · 08/04/2009 10:29

Ooh, Minush, love the sound of private part recovery sessions! What do they involve?

Carameli · 08/04/2009 10:29

Swali- popping in and out today as carpenter here so lots of banging and ds and dd having a cbeebies treat, for my sanity

WIll keep my fingers crossed your appt helps get things going for you.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 08/04/2009 10:30

minush: haven't told midwives yet about the contractions or show yet - saw them on Monday and they are "threatening" me with the idea that I will be booked in for induction in hospital on Sunday if nothing happens But I don't want that - I had a lovely homebirth last time, and want the same again! Not a repeat of what I had the first time round - was a bad experience!

Carameli · 08/04/2009 10:31

has anyone else had cravings at this late stage? I had a desperate one for onion ring crisps, pickled onions etc etc earlier on and now have the most desperate need to garlic olives, they are just heaven. I even had a sip of wine last night.

JuwEggsm · 08/04/2009 10:31

Ah, good news re: the osteopath Swali! I was very confused by your at the start and thought maybe it was a [having hysterics] emoticon as that bunny does look slightly...unhinged!

JuwEggsm · 08/04/2009 10:35

Rachel - I shall come and join you in the 'we want HBs, not induction' corner! Together we can fight them off!

JuwEggsm · 08/04/2009 10:41

Forgot to say - I got my HiP form yesterday! Everything I'd read about it said that your were eligible if your due date was 6th April or later. So as it was already 7th April, and no baby, we concluded that my due date now had to be at least 7th April, and was worth giving it a go!

JuwEggsm · 08/04/2009 10:42

Think I'm going to go and vigorously clean the bathroom (DH has forbidden the knocking down of walls). Overdoing it is the way forwards.

mathshoneybunny27 · 08/04/2009 10:42

hello all...looks like a lovely day for having babies..

Swaliswan · 08/04/2009 10:44

Juw, I was trying to say that I am a very happy bunny but it probably is more accurate to say that I am slightly hysterical or unhinged after days of ctx and no dilation.

At least now I understand why my ctx can be so strong that they are off the scale on the CTG but they aren't getting my body into labour. I feel a lot less like I'm going mad or imagining things now that I know why I am going through this hell. I don't know how on earth Springy has coped with weeks of 'pre-labour'. I never had anything like this with DD who was in a wonderful ROA position and a fantastic, quick labour. I know that my body can labour and birth well. I'm not so confused now as to why my body won't do it this time.

Swaliswan · 08/04/2009 10:46

I don't see why they need to induce you, Rachel. Maybe they are trying to scare the baby out of you with the threat of induction?

Swaliswan · 08/04/2009 10:47

Anyway, I'm off for a nap now (and maybe a few strawberries first even if I do still feel sick). See you all later.

JuwEggsm · 08/04/2009 10:47

Hi all

Can't believe no babies born yesterday ... unless we don't know yet

been to see MW, everything okay, 3/5 engaged. I didn't think babies engaged in subsequent pgs until labour?

Maths - GL for today, it is indeed a lovely day for babies to be born!

bronze · 08/04/2009 10:59
