am trying to work but have just realised something (bit slow on the uptake in my new zombie-style state!!).

I'm having these waves of pain in my lower back, last a minute or so, but I have just realised they are accompanied with the top of my bump going rock solid for the same amount of time.

Never had back pain in labour before, but it can be a sign can't it? (DS1 c/s without labour, DS2 waters broke and then put on drip to speed things up). Think I'm just a bit edgy as DH is away and I don't have bag packed/baby car seat ready yet!

minush · 27/03/2009 11:37

Mmmmmmmmm mini eggs
Just remembered! I have chocolate waiting in fridge. Today is looking up

Bleuravin · 27/03/2009 11:39

Oh surprise that does sound rather promising in some ways...and scarey in others since Dh is not around...

minush · 27/03/2009 11:41

Suprise, I'm sure nothing will happen until DH is back, and the baby's just practising

Juwesm · 27/03/2009 11:41

Swali - You are so well-prepared, to have different size clothes and nappies etc in bag ready for possible early arrival! I am in awe!

My bag still remains only half-packed. I have stuff ready to be packed, just not quite there yet. No sense of urgency, see, due to planned HB!

I have done nothing but eat since I got up (albeit only 90 mins ago). I blame the Ocado man for bringing extra Nutella supplies last night.

I am all prepared to be in a big mood today, as DH is playing cards after work which means I will be BORED and ALONE all day. I think it may be time he felt the full force of pg hormones. I snapped at him last night over something trivial and he looked so sad....he's got no idea what he could be having to deal with!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 27/03/2009 11:41

Ooooooh Suprise!! go and pack your bag and get prepared just in case!!

minush · 27/03/2009 11:42

Swalisan, with you on the feet thing. Think mine are (even) more smelly than usual too!

surprisenumber3 · 27/03/2009 11:42

thanks, he can be back in just over an hour if he has to, and I have good neighbours and friends close by. Baby is going crazy now, sticking pins in my cervix I think!

I do have a while to go yet, am due 17th April. We do need some babies to start being born here though!!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 27/03/2009 11:43

Juw - alone??? what are we chopped liver!! thanks a bunch [mock indignance]

Bleuravin · 27/03/2009 11:43

Yeah...I've only got turquoise Crocs that still fit...

surprisenumber3 · 27/03/2009 11:44

I will nutty, just going to finish up this work and eat some more cheesecake and then I'll go and see what I can pack. Have a big bag with loads of things thrown in, just need to sort it.

Juwesm · 27/03/2009 11:44

Oy vey Nutty! Of course you are not chopped liver. You are the voices in my head that keep me sane...........

Juwesm · 27/03/2009 11:45

Oooooooh......cheesecake........

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 27/03/2009 11:45

not that i will be going anywhere to wear them mind you!

surprisenumber3 · 27/03/2009 11:47

well in my rush for cheesecake I opened the fridge door smack bang into my belly, still keep forgetting it's there!

Bleuravin · 27/03/2009 11:47

Juw I felt that way yesterday. DH had (yet another) leaving due party for work in town and while he asked if I wanted to go, I just wasn't feeling up to it because of the stuff going on with my body... BUT i had to pick him up at quarter to 10 because he hadn't a ride home or money... First truly lad-ish thing he's ever done in our marriage of 4 years

Swaliswan · 27/03/2009 11:47

Juw, the only reason I have different sizes of clothes is because DD had to have prem baby clothes. DH insisted that we got a pack of size 0 nappies just in case. It seems wise to pack a bag according to my dates given my history.

Bleuravin · 27/03/2009 11:47

ditto Surprise ditto

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 27/03/2009 11:47

Juw - thats ok then not sure about the level of sanity provistion though madness maybe?

tristaleejac · 27/03/2009 11:48

Morning everyone, thanks for your help last night. I'm still in a load of pain but it did ease off last night for a while. Was ok during the night and when I first got up this morning. Then I walked to the shop which is literally just across the road, and it has flared up again. I think it's the baby's position. As I was walking there was more and more pressure down below and in my bum. So it must be the baby surely.

Juwesm · 27/03/2009 11:50

That's rotten Bleu. At least I don't have to do picking up (can't drive!). It's work-only poker, so I wouldn't be invited. Which is a good thing as my grasp of card games is as good as my grasp of finance, and serious card-players usually want to murder me after about 10 minutes, as I refuse to understand the stupid rules!

Swaliswan · 27/03/2009 11:50

I'm going to log off now as I have far to much to do before my mum picks me up.

Someone have a baby before I come back, please!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 27/03/2009 11:51

Trista - it does sound like it, try and rest as much as possible. glad it eased off a bit for you last night xx do take paracetamol it may help take the edge off xx

surprisenumber3 · 27/03/2009 11:51

swali - I had DS1 at 34 weeks and then DS2 at almost 41 weeks but because he was only 6 lb 12, the prem clothes fit him better than the new baby clothes anyway ) bless him.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 27/03/2009 11:51

Hello! surprise that sounds like Braxton Hicks contractions or some mild early labour pains to me - hooray! does it go away if you stand up and walk around a bit?

Just saw the midwife - head is 2/5 engaged and baby in a good position, bp normal etc. told her about the sort of contractions I'd been getting and she said it was all good signs - she wanted to do a stretch and sweep but I refused and said I would have one next week at the consultant appt if the baby hadn't turned up by then.

DP is taking me to the cinema in half an hour to see Watchmen, so will see you all later!
