Don't mean to stress you out Boffin but that reading this morning is worrying me - I would definitely get some advice if it was my husband. FWIW I think that BP's one of the things that GPs are most genned up on. Having thought about it further - if the evening readings are after he has been chilling out for hours then they are actually pretty high.

I am amazed he hasn't been given 24 hour monitoring - I was given this when they stopped me taking the combined pill after one high reading.

BabyBolat · 27/03/2009 10:46

oooh I am a Monday child too...

Bleu - Latent labour signs (all very exciting!!)

You may see some blood-tinged mucus, also called bloody show

Rupture of membranes. This could be a gush of amniotic fluid or a slow leak. If you are home and not sure if your membranes ruptured, call your practitioner

Contractions may be experienced in your lower back or abdomen. They may feel similar to menstrual cramping

Increased pelvic pressure due to the descent of the baby into the pelvis

Increased vaginal discharge

Frequent, soft stools

Hi all - taken me hours to catch up again! usually I spend so long catching up I don't have time to post anything - roll on ML!

Bleu - me and my 2 DS's are all Thursday babies, am kind of hoping this one will be too - next Thursday perhaps Hope something is moving for you. Funny how you describe the 'rolling' back pain. I've had that since Wednesday very intermittently, just couldn't think how to describe it!

Have a foot or something wedged by my hip today, is causing a stitch like pain. Keep pushing it away but it keeps kicking back, very feisty!

Boff - sorry to hear about your DH's BP. Mine is usually high (been normal during this pg so far which is strange for me!). When I was preg with DS1 it was 190/120, that is when they made me deliver. It is regularly 150/100 at GP's but 130/80ish at home so I try not to worry too much. A 24-hour monitor can be useful, as if it dips low during the night (mine was 88/58), then they don't worry as much as it evens out and your body gets a 'rest' from it at night so to speak - it could be worth organising one of those? I think the GP can organise it at the cardiology department of your local hospital (no need for an actual appointment at the hospital).

Springy - where are you? Hope things are progressing.

Does anyone elses RLT sometimes taste like pepper? I'm sure the taste of mine changes from raspberries, to apples to pepper!!

After reading about all the cake eating on here last night, I had to send DH out for a cheesecake, one of the Sainsbury's American vanilla type ones...mmmmmmmmm

Really need to work now, only a week left working so had better earn some money while I can!

brettgirl2 · 27/03/2009 10:56

When I had 24 hour monitoring it was just through the doctors surgery - maybe depends on the size of the practice?

Bleuravin · 27/03/2009 10:59

Boffin, I know it's a bit wierd, but does your Dh eat dairy? Mom'd doctor found she had high blood pressure and told her to eat more dairy...milk, cheese, cottage cheese and strangely enough it helped BP to drop by quite a few points without the use of drugs... may be sheer coincidence though.

Bleuravin · 27/03/2009 11:00

(oooH 3 messages in a row that posted) I'm on a roll...broken the MN posting bug computer had

surprisenumber3 · 27/03/2009 11:02

Might do Brett, I was just going on when I worked in the cardiology department and used to have loads of GP's ringing up to arrange them without actually requesting a cardiological appointment.

They are definitely worth having though.

I was told bananas and mango are good are regulating BP too. Not heard about the dairy Bleu, but I have eaten so much cheese in this pg and don't usually like it and this is the first time my BP has been anything near normal so might be onto something there!

Bleuravin · 27/03/2009 11:09

jinxed self...just got booted again Must have DH double check about any shifty virus' on the computer because it's very strange...

Did we hear from Clairey about the 'turning' and I just missed the post???

BoffinMum · 27/03/2009 11:14

Thanks for advice, everyone. I have rung the surgery about DH, and one of the doctors is going to ring me between 12-2. Although he phoned me from work to reassure me today, he is being a bit too stubborn for my liking about the 130 lower figure, and the tablets are giving him very bad headaches that wake him up in the middle of the night, hence he is planning to stop taking them. So I feel it is now necessary to tell tales on him to the doctor. He tells tales on me to the mw when necessary.

I don't think he will get a rest when he is on paternity leave, because it's always so chaotic with a new baby, even when you have had them before. Short of actually hiring a maternity nurse (which I can't afford to do) I can't see how to avoid this.

PuzzleRocks · 27/03/2009 11:15

Nothing from Clairey yet Bleu.

gingersarah · 27/03/2009 11:15

B52s - CONGRATULATIONS on finishing work!

HURRAAAAAAAAY!

BB - we are so nearly there! WOOOOO!

Bleu, exciting stuff....

brettgirl2 · 27/03/2009 11:18

Headaches are also a symptom of high BP - so the tablets may not be the cause?

I think it is definitely necessary to tell tales about this

Swaliswan · 27/03/2009 11:25

Just a couple of things, Boff, has your DH had his renal function checked and is he taking 75mg of aspirin a day? Sorry if you've already mentioned this but I still haven't caught up.

Hospital bags are packed now! (Although this has nothing to do with the fact that I swear that my cervix has suddenly moved round, got shorter and appears to have dilated a bit over the course of the morning, honest )

SpringySunshine · 27/03/2009 11:27

Sorry to disappoint all of those with their bets on Friday - absolutely nothing happening here this morning. I feel about as close to labour as I did a month ago. It's ridiculous. I think my body's just given up. Shall quickly post this before you all think I'm off having a baby (I know it's getting late in the morning & my phone's turned off at the moment, so goodness knows what speculation has been occuring ) & then catch up

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 27/03/2009 11:27

Poor Boff... good luck with BoffinDad, this is the last thing either of you need right now... >

WFH - Happy Happy due date! Congrats on being such a successful incubator...

I'm taking it easy again, under MW orders... anyone fancy a cup of tea?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 27/03/2009 11:28

Swali - hahahahahah yay for bag packing!

Juw - i thought i was going to give birth i laughed so hard last night

Juwesm · 27/03/2009 11:28

Boff - Headaches with CCBs should be transient (give it at least 2 weeks) - tell him he is a wimp if he stops taking the tablets! Paracetamol at bedtime (avoid ibuprofen).

It sounds like he's going to have trouble with the mental transition from seeing himself as fit-as-a-fiddle young man to someone with a chronic condition requiring lifelong medication. I think this sort of thing is probably particularly difficult for blokes, especially with new baby on the way when he probably wants to feel extra 'hunter-gatherer'-like. Signs of weakness and all that. It's particularly problematic with hypertension, as for all the medication you generally don't feel 'better', because you can't really feel the condition in the first place. If all you feel from taking the tablets is side-effects and no benefits, it seems obvious to stop taking them.

It may be worth finding out about local cardiac rehab groups, or specialist cardiology nurses locally. Though their main roles tend to be in post heart-attack and heart failure patients, they might be able to provide some counseling on ways he can deal with the diagnosis.

Sorry. Went on a bit there!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 27/03/2009 11:29
Juwesm · 27/03/2009 11:30

Swali - stop playing with your cervix!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 27/03/2009 11:31
Juwesm · 27/03/2009 11:31

Nutty - mini egg easter egg and more are only a click away!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 27/03/2009 11:34

Juw - thats fantastic!! thanks!! though winning the egg would have been very cool will have to settle for just buying some for myself, oh well

minush · 27/03/2009 11:34

Afternoon all. Trying to catch up, but seeing as I've missed about a gazzillion threads this is not a quick process.
I've missed baby name choices, urban dictionary names, cervix twiddling, birth plans and any number of hopeful labour signs. No more actual babies yet though!!
Auld, so sorry about your and DHs situation. I live in (South of) France too and it certainly is not the workers paradise it is often portrayed as. I really hope things start looking up for you soon. His boss sounds like an absolute tosser. Oh, and I agree with you about Marseille it's a really disagreeable town.
Boff, sorry to hear about DHs stress and BP.
I've spent the last few days recovering from (mild) food poisining, weeping on the sofa and feeling generally limp and pathetic. So all the ladies who are doing the pregnancy thing with DCs and, in some cases, complicated pregancies: I stand in awe!

Swaliswan · 27/03/2009 11:35

Sorry Juw, but I thought that I would go in search of in because (TMI alert) I seem to have a significant increase in pregnancy discharge this morning

I'm a bit scared to go anywhere near it now though as I'm still only 35+6 and although still being pregnant sucks, having a baby on the NNU sucks more. Give it another week and I'll have to take the prem baby clothes and nappies out of my hospital bag and replace them with normal newborn size!

Swaliswan · 27/03/2009 11:36

Great, it's started raining and my feet only fit in my sandals now. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
