Clairey I'm fighting being monitored all the time too but dh wouldn't agree to a waterbirth so I gave up that fight a long time ago.

Claireykitten · 26/03/2009 08:23

As far as my knowledge goes they will put me on a monitor to make sure baby is happy enough and then I will be given something to relax my uterus laid on my side head down and they will then physically 'encourage' her to move into the correct position whilst monitoring to make sure she doesnt get distressed. Apparently it will be uncomfortable but shouldnt hurt if it does I believe I can have drugs or G&A. Once theyve done that they will monitor her again to make sure she doesnt get distressed and to make sure she doesnt flip back round.

bronze · 26/03/2009 08:25

I've heard it can be uncomfortable but in your position I would be doing the same. A nice natural homebirth will be the reward compared to the alternatives so definitelty worth it even if it hurts a little.

Claireykitten · 26/03/2009 08:25

But waterbirths are amazing and so relaxing and pain killing! Well they are for me anyway I have said right from the start Im not having her unless I can go in the water teh thought of being on dry land terrifies me coz I couldnt cope with the pain last time until I got into water!

bronze · 26/03/2009 08:30

I know I'm jealous. Actually this time its my cons. who wouldn't allow it. I'm high risk.
I actually meant to say dh wouldn't like a homebirth not waterbirth. I tried for water the first two times and failed both times.
I'm positive though that if I can move around I'll be fine as I know I can do it from experience, hence the worry about being strapped to a monitor.
The 'professionals' are so annoying aren't they. I know some things are higher risk but doesn't that balance out by the fact that theres less risk if the woman is relaxed.

BabyBolat · 26/03/2009 08:32

bronze - I'm not worried - some of these ladies had shows weeks ago and nothing yet!!! although I am actually so bored of waiting now would be happy for ANYONE to have a baby just so I know it IS actually going to happen!!!

OP posts:
bronze · 26/03/2009 08:35

Well I won't tell you then that with the boys both times I had them within a week of having a show

bronze · 26/03/2009 08:35

I don't think that'll happen this time thouh because I'm still so early

BabyBolat · 26/03/2009 08:38

you might do tho which will be exciting!!!

OP posts:
bronze · 26/03/2009 09:06

stop it will you

bronze · 26/03/2009 09:06

where is everyone?

bronze · 26/03/2009 09:31

suppose I better go and do something useful then

Claireykitten · 26/03/2009 09:36

Right I am setting off now so wont be on again until tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good day and I will see you all later xXx

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 26/03/2009 09:37

Morning

BB - unfortunately the texts will get worse and very frustrating you will get some baby action soon though!! you are due just after WFH after all xx

Purple - yay for the lovely massage

Clairey - good luck with the ecv today xx

Bronze - oooohhh well done for your show

well dd is home with me today, she's been very emotional and weepy all week and very clingy with dh, misses me etc, she says she's ill and tired. She doesn't seem ill, no real temp no sign of being ill etc, i think it's all finally got on top of her, poor kid so i've kept her off school today to have some quality mummy snuggle time, she's asleep on the sofa next to me at the mo looking like a little angel . i suppose its a rubbish reason to keep her off school and i feel slightly like a bad parent but to be honest i have barely coped with being a redundant mum over the last few months and dd has done so very well to get this far pretty much without me over the last few months that one day of pure mummy time surely wont hurt, well it will definately get dd (and me) back on her feet emotionally to some extent.

sorry to waffle

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 26/03/2009 09:39

Hi everyone! It's awfully quiet this morning, isn't it...

I'm on the couch, feet up, waiting for the MW to come do my BP again. It's really annoying the way they don't give you a time - so basically I just have to sit here all day drinking lemon barley water and waiting! grrr... I am not a patient person...

Speaking of patience, my BP is waaaay down according to our new machine - this morning it was 104/75, which is miles off the 130/90 the MW read on Tuesday! So I WILL be having my HB... no matter what she says! I'll keep you all posted and in the meantime I'll lurk and watch online movies...

Anyone for some popcorn and a milkshake or is it too early?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 26/03/2009 09:44

Kitty - yay for low BP popcorn and milkshake sound like a fab idea

Cosmogirl · 26/03/2009 09:46

Bit of a lurker here...I was on the original list but not sure if anyone remembers me... Just wanted to say to BabyBolat whose EDD is one day before mine - I have had absolutely no signs of anything happening either, so you are not alone! Getting quite impatient now as stupidly allowed myself to believe I would be early and with each day that passes I am thinking I will be overdue.

Have had sickness and nausea all through this pregnancy, so quite frankly, I would just like it to be over as soon as possible!

Hope you don't mind me sticking my beak in and good luck to all late March/April mums xx Cosmogirl xx 39+2

purplemonkeydishwasher · 26/03/2009 09:47

oh nutty that sounds so nice to have your little girl all to yourself today! (and asleep, which is a bonus! )
sometimes you need to make a child's emotional health as much a priority as their physical health. she needed you today.
oh god i'm getting all teary.

i have been a busy girl this morning. tidied up the house as after we take the kids to gymnastics we take turns at each others houses for lunch. i'm tired now but the house looks reasonably respectable!

so i'm off, probably until tomorrow. hope everyone has a great day. let's get some babies going already!!

(ohhhh i'd love some popcorn and a milkshake!!)

Juwesm · 26/03/2009 09:57

Morning!

Clairey - hope the ECV is successful today! Fingers crossed!

Bronze - wahey for show. Still SFA here (possibly thanks to Nutty's fanjo welding). The professionals are very annoying - if you don't want to be strapped to a monitor, tell them to shove it and wander off. They can't do anything without you consent.

Nutty - Bless your DD, sounds like you'll get a lovely Mummy day today though. That will probably do her far more good than the one day of school she's missing, and she'll get more out of school when she goes back because of her day of chillaxing!

Kitty - sounds like that other BP was just a one-off/ dodgy reading/ whatever. Hooray for HB! Strawberry milkshake please, but popcorn only if it's sweet. Can't stand the salty stuff!

Bit of period-type pain in the night, but nil else on the labour front, unless being really, really hot all night is a sign of impending labour .

Juwesm · 26/03/2009 09:58

Oh, and Springy - "Like Ju, I like goats" ????? What are you trying to do to my reputation?

PuzzleRocks · 26/03/2009 10:02

Hello

Conker - I love the Apprentice too. Wasn't that Anita deluded? There seem to be some really unpleasant characters coming to the fore already. Like the bloke who did nothing but slag off the team leader. He seems like a trouble maker.

Nutty - Nice bargain on the boots.

BB - I slept on my back too. It was bliss.
With DD I got DH to warn EVERYBODY that they were not to call, text or email me as OBVIOUSLY I would let them know when anything happened. He was quite stern about it, he told them that if they stressed me out then the baby would stay in there longer.

PuzzleRocks · 26/03/2009 10:14

Clairey - Best of luck today.

Nutty - Have a lovely time with DD today.

Kitty - Good luck later. Stick to your guns.

Cosmogirl - Good to hear from you. Best of luck. Do let us know when the baby arrives.

BabyBolat · 26/03/2009 10:26

Hey Cosmo - was wondering about you - feel exactly the same - you do kid yourself that it will be on time or a bit early and now it looks more and more likely that I will still be here in 2 weeks Come back whenever you want and keep us posted on baby - although note I am ONE DAY before you so no sneaking in early

Nutty, that sounds like a pretty good excuse to me!!!

yay Buddy-o-mine - great news about BP - that'll show nasty midwife monitors!!

Can I point everyone in the direction of this useful, inspiring and thought-provoking thread.

SpringySunshine · 26/03/2009 10:42

BB, contracting boobs? That's a new one

Good luck with the turning, Clairey xx

ooh, bronze has a show! I'm with BB - I just wish anyone would have their baby! & you're all seemingly counting on me, but all of the signs have disappeared now! I have nothing!

Nutty, I think you've done the right thing keeping DD off school. Obviously it can't be a regular thing, but all things considered... Especially with the new baby coming so soon, it's nice for her to know that mummy still listens to her & wants to look after her if she's 'poorly'.

Hey Cosmo! Not sticking your beak in at all! The more the merrier!

Ju, shush it up, you crazy goat lover

Argh, I'm gutted that I missed the Apprentice last night. I think my challenge for the day will to be seek it out & watch it.
