Thought I'd better start the new thread before it was too late. Here we go!

And then when baby starts moving.... Alien?

LoobyLou36 · 30/03/2009 21:58

fi good luck with all your house changes

Belgianchocolates · 30/03/2009 22:07

Well, bedtime now for me.
Jennster. What are you on about? Alien? Can't figure out what post you're replying too? [confused emoticon]

flippineck · 30/03/2009 22:13

rofl at the hooter hiders! My two friends who live in the states both recommended them, but I wouldn't use one - as Belgian said, it'd just draw even more attention to you! It's amazin how little is on display when you bf, especially if you wear a vest under a top (one goes down, the other goes up, iyswim).

Fi sorry to hear about your house offer, but your solution sounds good! And exciting.

frazzledoldbag · 30/03/2009 22:18

Oh sorry divedaisy forgot to reply as was too busy clutching my sides and trying not to pee myself laughing at the breastfeeding pinny thing. Sorry, I don't mean to be offensive if you really like it but I honestly think it's a funny idea to swathe yourself in an enormous brightly patterned THING whilst simultaneously trying to fade into the background and feed discreetly. It's like shouting 'Look at me, I've got my boobs out under here' in a very loud voice. Oh dear. (It was featured on a thread recently which included a selection of other hilarious items - some from that same website I think). I actually thought I was going to go into labour I laughed so much. But then I guess if you are very self concious it might be an idea

Actually if you're looking for a good laugh I came across a link to a thread called 'sexual technics' last night. Oh my god, I haven't laughed so much in ages. I'm rubbish at links but if you could be bothered to do a search for it it's well worth a look. Hee hee. [chuckling at the memory]

Right am off to torture my nips again in a minute. Not looking forward to it but hey, no pain no gain right?

Oh and I've just done a bit of nesting ......... washed and folded all my teeny tiny little baby things (including my secret stash of blue things) sssshhh don't tell anyone. I've had to hide them at the bottom of the moses basket in case anyone goes into our bedroom and sees them [paranoid emoticon]

Jennster · 30/03/2009 22:23

Sorry that wan't clear. You draw attention to yourself with this massive cloth and while people are puzzling what is going on, your baby starts kicking their arms and legs and making it look like you are an extra in Alien.

frazzledoldbag · 30/03/2009 22:28

oooh, jennster got it now. Duh [slaps forehead].

Before I head off I'm looking for any sling recommendations. I was going to get a BabaSling but then saw someone with a stretchy-looking sling a similar shape to the BabaSling but it looked comfier. Anyone used one they think is fab? Have had a look on ebay and there is a baffling array. I want one that I can just pop the baby into, not a ringsling with big taily ends and not anything I have to tie in a complicated way. Just a pouch type thing is fine, but it needs to be quick to put on and comfy. Not too much to ask then! Anyway, recommendations would be very welcome.
x

sausagenmash · 30/03/2009 22:29

I'd hate it if my boobs, ginormous as they are right now, are referred to as 'hooters'. But call me old fashioned....

Btw, loving the facebook thingy!

I snort too at the b/feeding cloth and found it funny that they used 'hooters' on the website as I think it's a negative term. it would draw attention to the mother feeding which is precisely what i don't want to do when feeding in public (I'm shy).

Fi, sounds like you've thought it through very well and found a good solution. it's defn the right thing to do and you must be relieved.

was supposed to go to bed early but got caught up with heroes and cleaning (not at once). good night all.

morning all. i love that my DD's haven't yet adjusted to the time change - they're still asleep and it's nearly 8am!

anyone NOT sleeping well? past few days I haven't had much sleep but even without excuses (wedding, work), last night I seemed to find something to stop me from going to bed at a decent hour though very tired.

am now getting worried that time is flying and I won't have enough time to get things ready for baby3. i still need to pack, get birth plan, clean, baby clothes out of storage, etc. one day at a time...
hope all are well today. xx

Blottedcopybook · 31/03/2009 08:01

Belgian Thanks love, I felt much better after a few hours resting up on the sofa. Yeah ALL of my hens stopped laying over winter, lazy sods. I suspect they were laying elsewhere in the garden but as yet (!!) I haven't found a secret stash of eggs anywhere.

Frazzled I had a similar experience when I tried expressing whilst pregnant with DS2. I was trying to get myself into labour but it killed my nipples. I'm rubbish at hand expressing though so I was using my manual pump. Also, slings? I swear blind that the money I spent on my Moby wraps was the best money I spent on anything baby-related at all. Fantastic devices and relatively cheap even if you order them from the supplier in America.

divedaisy I've never, ever understood those things but I've never really had a problem with slapping the old boobies out for food or fun

Fi sounds good!

Jennster Haha! The Care Bears movie is definitely me reliving my childhood. It's bloody scary though!

I'm still feeling iffy this morning and it's DHs birthday so busy busy busy here. Then tomorrow I have a load of running about to do so I can go to physio. It's a fun filled life so it is!

frazzledoldbag · 31/03/2009 08:23

Hi blotted - thanks for the info about the Moby. Will have a look online / ebay and see what I can find.......I also tried the nipple tweaking thing to get myself into labour last time (only lasted about a minute then got bored!) Rubbing the reflexology point on my ankle gave me contractions though (not that they turned into labour tho).

Managed to express a tiny bit again last night - DH was a bit freaked out when he walked in on me.......but when I explained he thought it was a good idea. Nips a bit ouchy again this morn though.

My friend had her baby last night - a boy! Am now quite jealous that hers is OUT and want mine now......hers was 3 wks early so in my head we were due round about the same time. (Well, I was due 4 wks after her but you know what I mean). DD2 is very jealous too that my friend now has a boy and is desperate for this baby to be a brother (she doesn't know! hee hee can't wait to see the look on her face when it is).

Have a good day all.

emmabemmasmom · 31/03/2009 09:53

Rosielady Thanks for the message and yes that would be great! We should set something up...You on FB yet? I don't have everyone's MN and FB names matched up yet lol Anyone else in the area? Not sure...

Fi Sorry the house didn't come through but it seems like one of those 'everything happens for a reason' moments. Hopefully it will save you a lot of stress in the long run and great ideas!

Regarding sleep: I did not sleep at all last night! When DH left for work at 5am I told him...and he was all 'I bet you slept some...' How would you know having snored away all night??!!?? Anyway...I am sure I slept a bit but still...MOST of the night I laid there wide eyed...grrrrr

Thank you everyone for the big bag links...have bookmarked and will take a look later today...why am I strangely excited about shopping for a changing bag?? I guess is has replaced my shopping for a nice bag of my own...sad eh? lol

Well I am hosting our first dinner party tomorrow and I am shitting myself lol (sorry to be so crude!) We lived with DH's father for ages as he was away in Iraq and it made sense to look after the empty house. We moved to our own house in Nov...and have yet to have people over(except family and neighbors ect) So this guy is from DH's work, who seem very nice...and his partner seems nice and right up my alley. Funny as DH is also nervous...hehe...maybe that is why I was up all night thinking of everything to do. I need to have the house looking perfect so better get started...will take a small miracle but worth a shot!

Belgianchocolates · 31/03/2009 10:25

Frazzled I've bought a moby type sling and have tried it and it's quite easy to tie really. I bought it before I was preg . I tried it with dd who at the time was just about the max weight and she loved it! I'm jealous of anyone giving birth too, really want it to be over now.

blotted do your hens sunbathe? I swear mine are doing it at this very moment. They're lying in the sun, flat on the floor feathers spread out, looking like life couldn't be better

I still don't understand the b/f bib things either. Just proves americans are not quite normal, like we've always suspected (Except for you lovely americans on this thread of course ).

I've actually had the best sleep in a few days, but that's because I was back in my bed on my lovely soft but firm matress with memory foam topper etc..., rather than the spare bumpy rockhard one. I'm feeling so much more rested now.

The weather is gorgeous here today. I'm so excited to be wearing a summer top!

The dcs had an assembly today, so went to see that. They were supposed to be waving palms (it was about palm sunday, being catholic and all that), but they looked more like they were waving leeks .

Oh and I need a little rant about something that has been really getting to me lately. Just because I've got SPD and am on crutches people seem to assume I'll have a c/s or I'll be induced early. Why would I want to do that? I can imagine induction being even more uncomfortable than just waiting, TBH. Lying on my back hurts and I'd have to do that for the countless internals I'd be getting during the whole process. And SPD is no reason for c/s. If anything, my pelvis must be nice and roomy for the baby to just fly through . Staying at home also makes more sense, I couldn't imagine having to get in the car, drive, walk to the delivery suite on my crutches while in labour! Far easier to get the mws to come to me. If I have one more person asking when I'll be induced or c/s'ed I'll scream!

OP posts:
Belgianchocolates · 31/03/2009 10:33

Obviously I wouldn't do the driving myself when in labour!

LoobyLou36 · 31/03/2009 10:39

Morning all.

I've had a call back from the diabetes clinic so am off later to collect my insulin

my hens sunbathe belgian and they did lay over winter - not as often probably had about 4 eggs a week. MIL suggested killing them over winter if they didn't lay I don't think she's ever had a pet

EmmalinaC · 31/03/2009 10:44

Belgian and Blotted I am of your chickens. I have always wanted some hens but DH says absolutely NOT.

LOL at 'hooters' too. Never heard that one before but I supposed it's better than 'bangers'. Whatever you call them I've never been too bothered about getting mine out unless it's a situation where other people would be uncomfortable about bf-ing (for example when taking baby to visit one's colleagues!).

Momino my DD is still running on old time which is great. Today she didn't get up until 9am but that's probably because she was vomiting until 3am after climbing onto the kitchen counter and helping herself to the cooking salt . We checked with NHS and with our next door neighbour (who is a paediatrician) and both confirmed that it's virtually impossible to OD on salt by eating it - that's WHY it makes you vomit - so we needn't worry. She stopped throwing up just before we ran out of clean towels! This means today is another laundry day...

Fi sorry you didn't get your house but sounds like you have a come to a decision you're happy with which must be a huge relief.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. No sunshine here - maybe we'll get some later...

runningmonkey · 31/03/2009 10:47

Morning all

Am feeling v sorry for myself this morning as have women up with a v sore throat and bunged up head. Doesn't help that i feel guilty re missimg work as my classes are getting sub teachers for half a term and i was desperately trying to finish courses with my 6th form. Only upside is I've had a couple hours extra sleep which I prob needed as I've been finding it increasingly difficult to get comfy. Any good pg cold remedies or am o stuck with honey n lemon?

Belgian grrr for you re annoying questions

Who was askingabout slings? I bought a moby too and it seems fab... Have tried it with a teddy in it dh liked it to. I like the idea of wearing it and being able to pop baby in and out as needed ifyswim as it's machine washable it should be pretty usable too. Got mine from a compny called big mama slings and it came in 24 h. Sorry don't have link to hand but they were top on google search

EmmalinaC · 31/03/2009 10:48

Looby you've got hens as well!
Do you all live in the country?

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 31/03/2009 10:51

Morning all!

belgian - I'm with you on the SPD thing - I had it with DD2 and still went 2 weeks over (had to be induced in the end though) and have no wish to have a c/s this time - planning on a HB too - imagine no hospital dash, no worrying about what t do with DDs (my mum's an hour away so could be tricky), snuggling down in your own bed with LO.....I'm rather excited about the whole thing. Whilst I can't wait for this pregnancy to be over [tired, grumpy, in pain], I wouldn't want to induce early. Induction hurts a lot [wince].

Blotted - hope you're ok after the episode, a bit scary for you and I think you said DD?

Fi - That actually sounds good re your non-house move, I have moved house 11 times in 8 years and it's just the most horrendous thing.

Dive - at Hooter Hiders pinny/bib thing. Sorry.

Looby - You're just not having the best time, sending bestest thoughts your way.

Everyone else (sorry, dog is pawing and licking me for walkies) - hope everything's ok!!!

DD1 is sorted, we had a result last night - woo-hoo!

runningmonkey · 31/03/2009 10:53

Women= woken aaargh auto correct
Sorry about any other typos

emmabemma ooh I love cooking for people what are you making?

Hope all goes well at clinic loobs emmalina hope dd is ok. My little bro did that when he was small... We reckon he thought it was sugar

Belgianchocolates · 31/03/2009 11:00

We've got chicken, but don't live in the country, more of a suburby sort of area. We do have a big garden though and our chickens roam around in there. Our eggs are properly free range and organic , because we know exactly what they're getting.

grumpy 11 moves in 8 years. How do you cope!? I'm dreading our move this summer and that's only our 2nd in 6 years! Happy to hear your dd is better now.

emmalina hope your dd is OK.

looby my mum suggested killing our hens too. She thought it might be a solution if we move to a rented house this summer and we can't keep them there. Ds half heard the conversation and thought we were talking about the cat . Anyway, I told her we're not killing any chickens (and reasured ds we're not killing the cat). I'm sure someone would be happy to have a couple of 1yo good layers.
