Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SpringySunshine · 24/03/2009 14:34

I thought so too, LuLu It's the best thing I've found in ages

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 24/03/2009 14:34

AAAAAAAAARHH!!! Help me please, ladies....

I've just come from the MW - 36 week appointment, and as you remember we've been 100% go for a HB. However today my blood pressure hs gone from an avg of 110/60 to 130/90 so they say no way!! She's coming to my house this Thurs to remeasure it, and if it hasn't sorted itself out by then I can't have my precious HB... She put the fear of God into me too, putting me under "house arrest" as she calls it, saying that if I have even the slightest headache, or blurry vision, that I should get myself into the delivery suite asap... Of course now I don't want to call the labour ward for ANYTHING cos I'm too scared she'll make me go in!

Any special tips for lowering BP in two days??? If it helps, I have been drinking rather a lot of RLT lately and I had a lovely hot bath just before I went - could these be factors? If that is the case I'll stop the tea and not wash at all till Thurs... Boo hoo hoo, I feel soooo crap right now!!!

Claireykitten · 24/03/2009 14:37

Im really sorry Springy but I read your post as saying you could even cope with pubic diarrhoea which doesnt sound at all nice!

Kalikaroo · 24/03/2009 14:39

I can definitely recommend Australia's make me a supermodel - it has blokes in it as well as girls and they are rather nice...!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 24/03/2009 14:39

Kitty - stop the tea and see, but the main thing is to rest and try and stay as chilled as possible, seriously though please please call the labour ward if you do feel at all unwell headachey/blurry vision!!!

Kitty, last week mine went up to similar figures was 130 over 95 and I had to be tested everyday until the end of the week - mine did go down tho - just relax, try not to think about it and be normal at home - that will help you keep it down!!

SpringySunshine · 24/03/2009 14:39

Clairey! I'm shocked & appalled! You disgust me!

Maybe that's what MM means when she says she can feel poo opposite her cervix?

& KittyCat, I'm really not sure - but try not to panic, because that obviously won't help. Just try to have a really relaxing couple of days. Someone else will have better ideas, I'm sure

BoffinMum · 24/03/2009 14:41

Kitty, that's ridiculous, mine was higher than that in hospital last Monday and they still keep going on about how low risk I am. Don't be bullied into foregoing your HB on the basis of an isolated reading - it might even be her machine that is faulty.

One idea might be to buy your own BP machine and monitor yourself as well, so you can see if there's any kind of pattern, and whether it's 'white coat syndrome'.

Claireykitten · 24/03/2009 14:41

Springy dont make me laugh it really hurts my bump and then madam goes mental!!

bronze · 24/03/2009 14:46

Is mms cervix public too then?

Claireykitten · 24/03/2009 14:51

I am feeling really fed-up and I know I am being unreasonable which is just making me feel worse particularlly since its not even anything important/major. SIL agreed weeks ago that since it was going to cost a fortune to get my hair coloured at the hairdressers we would give it a go at home and agreed at the weekend that I would go down today as she was supposed to be on holiday. Unfortunately she has had to go into work this AM but we were still going to do it this aft. I have now just got a text to say she is still stuck at work sorting out a diciplinary as her stock manager has gone awol so it doesnt look like I am going to get my hair done and I just feel really really fed-up.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 24/03/2009 14:53

Clairey - is it a box clour (store bought)?? and is it justone colour rather than one of those highlighting kits?

LuLuBai · 24/03/2009 14:57

Clairey - how long until you are due? (Sorry I could check this myself from the lists). Couldn't you arrange another time?

LuLuBai · 24/03/2009 15:01

Clairey - you've got 3 weeks to go, so perhaps you could arrange another date with your SIL or find another friend who you trust, or (if it is just one colour) do it yourself.

Although I can hardly talk as after my at my hair dye running in the birthing pool with DD I have booked in at my beloved hair dresser myself (feeling v. v. guilty as there are SO many other things we need to spend money on at the moment!)

BoffinMum · 24/03/2009 15:03

I just spent the entire GDP of a third world country having my hair done at the best hairdresser's in town. It was great for morale and for once, I think 'sod the money'. As did DH. I would just throw caution to the wind if I were you and go and get it done professionally. Nutty can advise on strategy if necessary!!

BabyBolat · 24/03/2009 15:04

Oh Clairey how frustrating! I get how annoying that could be - especially when you have your hopes up!!

LuLuBai · 24/03/2009 15:08

I second what Boffinmum says. I know that going to this particular hairdresser I will walk out feeling a million dollars. It will be worth it, even if it is a ludicrous sum of money to spend.

I really hated what I looked like in the mirror after giving birth to DD and don't have a single picture of me holding her as a newborn that I would want to show anyone, let alone frame which seems very sad.

Oh Nutty - once you are back on your feet you'll have to pack your baby in a sling and do a grand tour of the April mums waving your magic wand and sprinkling fairy dust and making everyone feel glamorous again.

BabyBolat · 24/03/2009 15:11

Someone stop me, I am working my way through a massive pack of chocolate biscuits and I am not even hungry!!!

Juwesm · 24/03/2009 15:15

The body wants what it wants BB - don't deprive it!

LuLuBai · 24/03/2009 15:16

BB - I have just cut myself not one but two thick slices of ginger cake.

Every time I get up and start trying to sort stuff I feel baby pressing down hard and get paranoid that I am going to bring on labour so have decided to sit down for a while. (Also DD is awake now so housework extra hard to do)

LuLuBai · 24/03/2009 15:19

BB - sorry to pry but how are you getting on with boy's names?

DH has now decided that he really likes Reginald. I don't know what to do.

Tbh I might think it was quite cute if I met someone else's child and they were called Reggie. But I cannot imagine a child of my own with that name. I think I would wince every time I introduced him.

Kalikaroo · 24/03/2009 15:23

Don't worry about it! I had a curry for lunch and have just polished off a bar of chocolate

I'm having a slight stress because I'm finding it impossible to find a boys name that both DH and I like...we've got 2 girls names, but DH is really stuck on a name that I REALLY don't like.

Swaliswan · 24/03/2009 15:25

Afternoon Ladies,

I'm going to try and post before DD wakes up.

I know that most of you are more pg than I am, but I am so fed up of being pg now.

Damn it, DD just woke up. Will post later.

LuLuBai · 24/03/2009 15:26

Aaah - you too Kalikaroo.

I am getting quite upset about it now. Not long to go and we just cannot agree.

Is your DH Scandi or do you both just live in that part of the world?

(trying to think of Scots/Scandi names)

LuLuBai · 24/03/2009 15:28

Kali - my DH keeps fixating on names I don't like. We have agreed on a girl's name but every boys name I run past him he seems to veto without giving it a moments thought and then stubbornly start insisting on whatever name it is he currently likes most.
