Hey guys,
Kaz - your babies are gorgeous, great they are home at last. And that was really sweet of the staff to make mother's day cards like that.
Boff - you lucky devil, the ravishing sounds great. Nothing better than a sneaky naughty one! (or 2 in your case )
Bronze - that slideshow is amazing. How early was DD again? She's gorgeous.
nutty - I like this one: Come out come out wherever you are!! or we're sending dh after you!
I went to a local craft fair today, it was lovely. Stocked up with homemade jam (only reason I went actually) the woman makes amazing jam, loads of different kinds.
Got told I looked really neat for 36 weeks, was quite chuffed at that. I remember with DS at 7 months a woman casually asking how far along I was and when I told her, 7 months, she looked horrified and said I was huge (I was). Still, she could have kept her trap shut!
Anyway that's my only gossip of the day, came home and slept as I was exhausted.

BabyBolat · 23/03/2009 07:13

Morning all

I vote for out with the bumps!

Boff am of your day yesterday - sounds perfect!!!
MM hope the essay got finished
Kitty-oh-buddy-o-mine - you always have the nicest weekends! How you feeling? You all set for your HB now?
Oddeyes great news about the growth and organisation!

Nothing particularly interesting to report my end - very chilled night last night and back to work today (today should be my last 'busy' day then it is all about handing over and Friday is the finish line! - am so very very very ready!!!! )

One week until due day (yay!) Although LO can feel free to come out early - any when after lunchtime today is fine by me!

What is everyone up to today?

BB

ha ha - look at gassbag Nutty there

Claireykitten · 23/03/2009 07:49

Well I think I should be well and truly disappointed in myself for my lack of postage looking at that!!

Bronze - That video was absolutely beautiful I was definitely filling up and trying to hide the fact from DH! I have to admit though that Im really sorry but I hadnt realized until catching up this morning that it was your baby! She is so beautiful and you wouldnt believe she was so so tiny when born.

BoffinMum · 23/03/2009 08:00

Good morning people.

I appear to have hurt myself and I was wondering if anyone had any advice. I was trying to stand in the shower and shave my legs at the same time last night (difficult enough at the best of times with SPD or when PG and especially with both), when DH called 'Hurry up, it's the No 1 Ladies' Detective Agency!' (my current fave programme).

In my anxiety to avoid missing the beginning I managed to give myself a nasty razor burn on both legs by apparently removing the top layer of skin . This now hurts a lot, like bad sunburn. I have put nappy rash cream on it but to no avail. Does anyone have any useful suggestions??

PuzzleRocks · 23/03/2009 08:01

I took into account peoples Christmas posting names as well and any other name changes I could recognise.

BabyBolat · 23/03/2009 08:02

Boff, have you taken a layer of skin off (so it needs to scab and heal) or burnt it so it looks angry?

PuzzleRocks · 23/03/2009 08:04

Blimey BB you really are going down to the wire aren't you? Friday!! Isn't your baby due on Monday?

We are going to DD's class later this morning and the this afternoon she has some friends round.

Sorry Boff, no clue. Ouch.

BoffinMum · 23/03/2009 08:09

PS Can I point out as a professional researcher with an interested in social linguistics that you would need also to count the following in order to have a full range of stats on our postings:

  1. Total word count per person
  2. Variability of vocabulary per person (aka token type ratio)
  3. Frequency of postings
  4. Main topics of concern

It would be possible to run all the text through the BoffMachine (my own special word analysis software) and do a comparison for each ante-natal group month by month over the last 12 months, and come up with a social profile of all the women IT-savvy enough to use MN having babies nationally over the last year, and see which group was the most educated, the most interactive, the most positive in outlook and so on.

But in order to do this, someone would have to a) be a total anorak, and b) be arsed. However strangely enough I can actually see some mad organisation actually willing to fund it!!

BoffinMum · 23/03/2009 08:09

BB, it just looks angry. There is no bleeding or scabbing or anything.

BabyBolat · 23/03/2009 08:15

I would just keep it moisturised as much as possible to heal the skin and also prevent the itching that will come with razor burn - perhaps gets some mild burn cream or tea tree (although that will sting at first!) and keep it open so the air can get to it.

Yes Puzzle - right to the wire!! I wont be doing it again don't worry!!

BoffinMum · 23/03/2009 08:21

I'll keep the nappy rash cream on it then - it says it calms and moisturises skin and removes redness!! How long do you think it might take to get better?? I am now worried it will smart a bit in the birthing pool!!

PuzzleRocks · 23/03/2009 08:23

Christ Boff, even i'm not that nerdy.

I think.

No actually I am, I would love to see the results of that level of analysis.

BoffinMum · 23/03/2009 08:29

Do you know what, Puzzle, it is quite fascinating when you look at the findings of things like this, and it always tells you something new and clever about people and society.

However it takes a certain nerdy dedication. I do think you have the potential from all the counting up and analysis you have done so far! I was seriously impressed. If you ever want a job ...
