ROFL nutty!

LuLuBai · 19/03/2009 21:30

Yikes - Puzzle is really very scary. She's fronting up to Boffin over there (and still no Springy to be seen ). Will the killer heels or the wheelchair of doom be the victor in this deadly battle of wills?

Right I am off to bed now. Wimping out big time. Night night all, and may the best woman win (although obviously my pom-poms and cheerleader outfit are in Puzzle's colours - otherwise as my buddy who knows what sort of birth announcement she might make on my behalf - yikes!)

Bleu, don't listen to any dentist bollocks about not treating pg women - it does no harm at all. I have had extensive root canal treatment during pg and discussed anaesthetics with my dentist and obstetrician and they said there is no problem. For painkillers, paracetemol and codeine are absolutely fine. An NHS dentist will give you an amalgam filling (i.e. not white) unless it is a front tooth - there is a lot of scaremongering about these in relation to mercury but that should be disregarded too - amalgam fillings are stronger than white ones and free if you are pg. Find an NHS dentist currently accepting new patients by phoning the number here, or go to a dental hospital.

Clairey, IMO a breech birth is no reason for a cs unless you personally want this. Just demand a mw who has experience in this area to be assigned for you. It is a staple diet of most independent mws, btw. I have successfully managed to turn one of my babies using reflexology and some people try acupuncture as well. Optimal Fetal Positioning is another technique often tried and information can be found on theSpinning Babies website.

tristaleejac · 19/03/2009 21:39

ha! wish I really looked like that nutty

PuzzleRocks · 19/03/2009 21:39

Night Lulu. I won't be too far behind so may have to concede this one to Boff. Better her than that dastardly SpringySunshine.

BoffinMum · 19/03/2009 21:41

PMSL at the Wheelchair of Doom.

I went on the bus in my wheelchair today. My god, that was hairy. The technology is not quite there, IMO.

Also went out for lunch and afterwards saw Slumdog Millionaire. Truly dark but brilliant film.

Nutty, I'm glad we've cleared that up - I didn't know how to sneak into your luggage, so I'm pleased that I won't have to Gosh, imagine the fun we'd have with sun & cocktails. That's cocktails, before you get too excited

Clairey, sorry that you're having to make difficult decisions so close to the end - it's hard enough as it is! Still, they wouldn't do anything that wouldn't be safe for you & your baby, & hopefully it will work. Try not to read too much on the net, as that'll only fuel your fears! (Even a common cold can suddenly seem like pneumonia with a bit of googling!)

bronze, how annoying for your DS2 - just as you were getting a chance to catch your breath!

purple, yay for an average size baby & fantastic doctor - that always makes such a difference! As you found with those horrible HVs

bronze, I don't think that they do use the same cut (someone else will know for sure) but I think they avoid it because it's scar tissue & wouldn't heal properly.

at your DH! How cheeky of him! I second Nutty's suggestion of dumping laundry on his head.

Boffin, I feel the same - that she isn't confident in her decision. For me, that lottery question was pretty much how I came to the conclusion that I had to have this baby. I was worried about the logistics of everything more than anything else, but realised that in that particular instance, that wasn't enough to not have the baby. I knew I'd find a way around it - even though I didn't know that I'd be able to rely on DH forever & so on.

It's difficult to ask her to take more time / think of things differently without sounding like I'm asking her to change her decision. I have, to an extent, done those things already & will continue to do so until I feel confident enough that she's sure / it's too late. I'd rather be thought of as tactless than sit back & watch her make a mistake & not say anything. She knows that I'm not anti-abortion in the slightest & I hope that she'll understand where I'm coming from.

Auld, you say that half of your colleagues are back at work, but half are still striking? What is the French mentality regarding that? Because over here there'd be cries of 'scab' & huge anger towards those who'd gone back to work.

Nice summary, Nutty - I particularly like 'the Mane Event' pun

& as for the other thread, I was too busy having sex to get in on the action, so I'm out of that race. Worth it, I reckon Not so sure about the contractions though They hurt

mumblemumhome4lunch · 19/03/2009 21:46

Lordy you guys have been chattier than ever today !!

Waiting for my bath to run so wont be on for long, sorry but bubbles, candles and a stash of chocolate chunks beats even you lot I'm afraid .

Have flipped quickly through todays posts......I see someone else has a naval-gazing sibling for their bump too - trista I think it was you?. My DS is convinced he can "see" baby and puts his eye right up against my tummy button like it's a telescope and stares for ages whilst chatting with baby. It's sooo cute. They have both taken to singing to baby too (ahhh) and wanting baby to dance with them I have to bare the bump and wiggle it about whilst they dance in fits of giggles.

On that note will have to go as just checked the bath and it's almost overflowing !!!

Hope everyone is well as can be expected in the final stages.

Boo to sick children, preg ladies and lazy DP/DHs out there - if only we could shift those bugs by power of thought and good wishes you'd all be better right now.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 19/03/2009 21:48

Springy - lol cocks and tails FAB i always wondered what it would be like to have a tail

OP posts:
SpringySunshine · 19/03/2009 21:49

Haha, the idea of me being any kind of ninja at the moment... Haha I'm not capable of being very stealthy at all.

I love Boff's Wheelchair of Doom I want one just for fun!

bumpalump · 19/03/2009 21:51

whey hey get you lady!!! I'm scared and just caught tail end.

SpringySunshine · 19/03/2009 21:51

Oh, I wish I already had cute children to play with. All of these stories of your DCs make me so ! I only have DH to keep me occupied

BoffinMum · 19/03/2009 21:52

I have had quite a stressful evening again with DS2. Obviously some latent sibling rivalry has crept in, as there is a lot of whining and tantrums, alongside very many demands for Lego. He eventually told me to 'eff off' and I am ashamed to say I smacked his bottom at that point . It did result in him being brought up short and saying he was sorry though, and we are now friends again.

SpringySunshine · 19/03/2009 21:53

On the other hand...

BoffinMum · 19/03/2009 21:56

Yes Springy, babysit DS2 for a day and then you'll see the truth of parenthood!! He may be cute but by god it can be hard work sometimes.

SpringySunshine · 19/03/2009 21:57

I'd actually love to. Plus he'd probably behave better for anyone who's not you, so I'd be onto a winner

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 19/03/2009 21:58

Boffin - i think he may have needed the little shock tbh poor you xx

OP posts:
tristaleejac · 19/03/2009 22:02

mumble that's exactly what DS is like. One eye screwed up so the other one can 'look' in! It's really cute

BoffinMum · 19/03/2009 22:05

Well as I said to him, the adults are in charge of this household, not him, and swearing is not acceptable at all, nor is dissing other household members.

I have been doing all the sensible educationalist things all week (like printing a limited edition booklet of bespoke complaints tickets he can use when he wants to grumble) but he has pushed the boundaries much too far today. I was tired and my tummy hurt, and he picked the wrong moment to escalate hostilities, so he got 1970s discipline from me at that moment.

I think the natural order of precedence has now been restored so hopefully tomorrow things will be a bit more normal. Or I am putting him on a train to Springy!!

OddEyes · 19/03/2009 22:08
