Rock and roll lifestyles of the April Mums!

Can I use any towel for the baby? Is it likely to get stained (as in don't bring in one of my white ones)? Are there 'special' towels for babies like there seems to be baby shawls?

bronze · 20/03/2009 15:35

There are special towels but like anything else they're gimmicky

Bleuravin · 20/03/2009 15:38

So any towel then really...

bronze · 20/03/2009 15:42

yup though I wouldn't take a white one into hospital

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/03/2009 15:46

i do love those lil hooded baby towels though (soooo cute)

Let us know how you get on.
You never know maybe this is the start of something if you're getting pains?
Maybe I'm psychic after all!

Claireykitten · 20/03/2009 16:22

Bleu asking about what the cotton wool was for has reminded me of a query we had last time and never got answered so I wondered whether any of you lovely ladies! could answer for us. On the list we got given last time we had all the expected nightie pants bras cotton wool nappies towels clothes for baby etc etc and then at the bottom of the list was 1 BOX OF TISSUES (white only) so we took requested box of white tissues and never used them never got asked for them and still cant see what we would need them for?

tristaleejac · 20/03/2009 16:36

that's a strange one clairey, maybe to wipe the eyes of emotional relatives?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/03/2009 16:36

Clairey - probably in case you/dh got weepy

Hello ladies

Well I'm feeling a bit better and less tearful today DH came home last night (after my crying outburst on the phone to him and then subsequently ranting to all you lovely girlies), and at first he was a bit cold - but I really think he didn't know what to say! Then he got the washing in without me asking and folded it all up and put away what didn't need ironing!! Then he got DS1 in the shower, put the boys into bed. Then he came into me, asked if I wanted a drink, told me I shouldn't be working at night and said I should pack it in now if I want to (not really an option but at least he finally recognises I am 36 week preg!).

Then he said he was going shopping (he NEVER does this!!). I said it was too late so he said he'd go and get some 'bits' then. He came back with my fave meal (fresh pasta, sauce and ciabatta bread and salad), a miniature bottle of wine for me fresh cream scones and grapes. He put the bath on for me, and then told me my dinner would be ready in an hour It was gorgeous.

Then he mentioned the pushchair/carseat situation and said if I chose one he would go and get it. He has booked a day off work next week to come to the midwife with me.

So, my little crying outburst worked and I feel much 'springier' today!!

BB - hope things are okay, look forward to hearing back from you later

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/03/2009 16:42

Suprise - oh thats fantastic!! oh so pleased you got a night off and that your dh realises that you need a bit of help WooHoo ((hugs)) xx

It was lovely nutty. I think I ask for it a bit myself as I hate to admit defeat and like to think I can organise the world!!

I drank a cup of RLT today. Might be coincidence but baby wriggled like crazy and then my uterus was rock hard for at least two hours! Not painful though.

I have been in the sun for an hour and have this brown mark come all across my face, am sure I have heard of this happening in pregnancy.

Oh and had a bit of a result today! Remember I went to assemble the cot last week but it was damaged? The replacement parts have come today

Bleuravin · 20/03/2009 16:48

surprise that's great. Maybe a little note in his lunch or something to thank him for listening will help keep things on the right track

I've got a horrible headache today girls...tried the paracetmol and laying in bed in the dark a it and nothing's heling...

BUT the bags are now packed! -just missing a towel I felt would be good for baby-all the towels are really big (bath sheets) or tiny hand towels and they're all quite scratchy (will maybe go out tomorrow and pick something up) and my dressing gown...if I put the latter in I'll have to get dressed right away every morning and I'm not quite willing to do that... Thank you Bronze and Nutty for your no nonsense encouragement!

PuzzleRocks · 20/03/2009 16:50

Good to hear Surprise.

tristaleejac · 20/03/2009 16:51

surprise that's fantastic! Long may it continue

surprisenumber3 · 20/03/2009 16:52

thanks for the tip Bleu, I might just do that!

Sorry about your headache have you drank plenty of water? sorry to state the obvious it's just that that's what usually causes mine.

WD on the bags being packed, I need to get towels and dressing gown and something for me to wear home and then I think I'm done.

Oohh...so exciting now!

Bleuravin · 20/03/2009 16:58

That's the rather strange thing...I've been drinking far more today than normal because MW yesterday suggested I may be a little dehydrated... I've hardly been to the toilet though in all honesty...

surprisenumber3 · 20/03/2009 17:05

well it isn't this, BUT, I have to say it anyway...when I had pre-eclampsia I had a bad headache, drank loads more thinking it was that, but I was hardly passing any urine as my kidneys weren't working properly due to the PE and I became all puffy instead.

Now like I said, it really isn't that but just had to say.
