I'm doing a project looking at advertising aimed at mums, and wondered if anyone fancied discussing ads featuring parents and children, or just children

Which ads of family life have caught your eye?

What brought a lump to your throat?

Or made you laugh?

Or gave you goosebumps?

And why?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

I love the Kingsmill bread advert with the music you are lovely to me as you are. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqAQQ_HCzVo&feature=related

...especially the kid who slides the toast onto the plate and passes it to his dad. V. sweet.

I can't recall any that I like for whatever reason. Most depictions of families in advertising are terribly corny.
I shall give it some thought though, maybe I can come up with one.

bump

Anyone want to discuss advertising that presented family life in a clever/interesting/real way?

Please?

You could try posting this directly on my antenatal thread here. I'm sure no one would mind.

Thanks PuzzleRocks. you were the only person to respond! I thought more people would have an opinion. Guess it's not that interesting!! I drew together a list based on my own opinions and will see what my client thinks.
my list included
Calpol - kids trashing house
Persil - Robot boy who finally is allowed to get dirty
Kingsmill - which I just love gives me goosebumps everytime

Thanks again puzzle rocks for helping
I will take you up and post on your antenatal group if I need more help

I love the Warburton's series - they're not all about small kids, but two adverst stick in my mind...

  • firstly the classroom one set in the 40s or 50s I think, where the boy comes into the baking class whilst the teacher is away and shows his girlfriend how she should be kneading the bread - bit of a "ghost" moment - then the teacher comes back and tests the bread, and says its "almost as good as a warburtons"
  • secondly, the little kid and his mum in the park, where he gets a slice of bread, folds it in two, sniffs the soft bit in the middle, takes a little bite, then the camera angle widens and his mum says "derek, you're only supposed to throw it to the bloomin ducks"

the slogan "bakers born and bred" is great, and the ads always make me smile. they are deliberatley a rose-tinted view of the world, and so are a lot less annoying than ones set in the present day which have apparently perfect families.
