Me too - due July 12th at Chelsea & Westminster.

How's your pregnancy going?

FSB · 25/03/2009 15:03

me too! i'm also 12th July, so probably see you there 2 weeks later Verity

are you both local to C&W or did you choose it over a nearer hospital?

VerityClinch · 25/03/2009 15:36

Yes, pretty local, live in Fulham and my GP had just given birth there, so basically just went on her recommendation.

From what I've seen of it so far, though, it seems well enough run, by nice people, and clean. Which is about as much as you can ask for, isn't it?

Have you done a maternity ward tour?

FSB · 27/03/2009 12:52

no, we've got the tour on the end of our first antenatal class on 15th May, but everything i've seen so far seems good. DH likes the idea of that lovely burger place - Heche? being just down the road... so do i tbh if they do takeaway!!!

is it your first?

Jenny79 · 29/03/2009 19:05

Hey ladies, nice to see both of you here
Re: maternity ward C&W: Personally, I haven't done the tour, other than online!
But as FSB says, generally the hospital looks well run and at least in the antenatal ward the ladies are really friendly.
First baby for me. So far everything is going well.

Just counting working days left now, as well as the Bugaboos on King's Rd. The latter is driving me mad.

I'm based in Fulham - Sand's end, close to Imperial Wharf.

Is anyone assigned to the Parsons Green midwifes? I'm with the Juniper Team.

Missed my 22 week appointment - which was booked when I was only 8 weeks pregnant, so how could I remember!!?? . Plus I keep forgeting stuff all the time, so I should be excused..
Anyway, got a call from the midwife... Asked her, very innocently: "This will sound stupid, but what is this appointment for?"
Midwife response: " this is your 22 weeks appointment"... obviously, she wasn't impressed .. and neither was I, to be honest, as during my 're-scheduled' appointment she just handed over my notes and totally dismissed me when I dared mention the word 'birthplan' at just 22 weeks. She said I should have my antenatal class first - IN JUNE -, cause otherwise I would have no idea what I was talking about.
So you have all these questions and you have to wait a month before the birth to get some answers... so what if I give birth earlier than expected?

If you ladies are on Facebook, do try to join this group: Summer 09 - West London Babies

I'm not on Mumsnet often, but almost everyday on Facebook!

Hi ladies

Great to read about you! I am due 18 July at C&W, first baby. I live near West Brompton Road, so nearer Earl's Court. But nice and near the hospital!!

I haven't done the tour yet either, but I have stayed in the hospital previously. I had severe morning sickness and stayed in on 4 separate occasions in the Annie Zuntz Ward (for Obs and Gynae), and it is lovely. Just really well cared for and the nurses are great. So hope the labour ward is similar!! I think generally C&W is one of the best hospitals going.

No, I am not with the Parsons Green midwives, but the Earls Court ones - the Pine team. Yes, Jenny sounds very confusing re the birthplan and antenatal class issue!
Are any of you doing the NCT classes as well as the NHS ones? My NCT classes clash with the NHS ones so unfortunately I cannot make those - very annoying.

Will join facebook too - thanks!! Stay in touch!!

Jenny79 · 31/03/2009 23:17

Hi loula24, welcome, nice to see you on Facebook too! VerityClinch will probably join on Fbook soon enough.

We're all based around the same area, so after Easter break I hope we can manage to meet up for coffee milk and cookies maybe at Carluccio's opposite the hospital !!

Am very last minute person, so I don't think I'll do any NCT classes. I'm doing NHS classes beginning of June.

Great plan with the meet up! Look forward to it!

Jenny79 · 06/04/2009 22:35

I'm so tired today and I still got work to do... bit difficult though after potato salad + tortelini + a mug of strawberries

I know what you mean about the last minute birthplan stuff Jenny. I had my 26 week appointment this morning (another tick box exercise!), and was told by the midwife that they don't go through the birthplan with you until your 36 week appointment!!!!!

Bearing in mind i know of two people who've recently had their babies at 30 and 32 weeks, this seems a bit laid back!!

What's the problem with discussing it earlier anyway? you're hardly going to randomly change your mind at 35 wks + 3 days!!!

Perhaps if you are rebelious enough to go into labour before that point, you don't get a say in how the birth goes...

Will def join Facebook group (even though I'm not technically a West London mum...)

Jenny79 · 07/04/2009 18:16

Thanks FSB!
Now tell me... is it normal for my ribs to hurt this much at 25 weeks? I would ask the midwife, but she'll probably say 'we can't discuss till week 30'
hehe

Blimey, this thread has gone mad! I forgot to check back until today.

Are we definitely going to do the meet up thing? I would LOVE to meet some other preggo women who live nearby. My friend from school is due 2 weeks before me, but she lives in Spain now, which is very inconsiderate of her.

Being a control freak, I have already written 4 versions of my birth plan. (AS IF I could wait until 36 weeks).

One for normal birth

One for elective c-section (in case my crappy low placenta does not move)

One for "if induction required"

One for "if baby is breech or transverse"

Obviously I need help to get out more.

Jenny79 · 10/04/2009 09:59

Verity do all your plans include highest drug dosage allowed ?

OP posts:
Jenny79 · 10/04/2009 10:03

Verity saw a poster at the midwife's yesterday, for 'Relaxation, breathing and massage lessons every Tuesday afternoon' held by Marjanna, I guess behind M&S. Have you seen this poster?

OP posts:
FSB · 10/04/2009 16:34

wow Verity, that really is organised!!!

VerityClinch · 11/04/2009 18:04

There really is no stopping my inner control freak... especially now I am winding down at work, I need a new outlet for my obsessive planning, and the birth plan is it!

Jenny - yes, I've seen that poster, I thought the classes were at the hospital - but can't find any info on the C&W website. I am going for the maternity ward tour this week (or is it next week? Soon, anyway) conducted by that same lady, so I will ask her then.

Once I am off work I think a Tuesday afternoon spent lying on a beanbag breathing deeply might be just what the doctor ordered.

Jenny79 · 11/04/2009 23:56

Jenny breaths deeply.... two more months to maternity leave... i can make it, i can make it...
