good morning everyone!!

I've read throught this thread but just can't fact catching up on the old one! (my butt can't take it!) really we should have a summing up the last thread post!

Mumble - congrats! it sounds like you had a wonderful day! i'm do glad that your DD was feeling better as well. and i'm very very of all those desserts!!

DH has given up any and all sweets for lent so i feel bad (mostly) for getting stuff. and frankly he was my supplier and he's not supplying anymore!!

Nutty - i;m glad your DD;s birthday went well. now REST WOMAN!!!!!

Boffin - how can you paint the skirtings without either sitting on the floor or reaching down from a chair - BOTH things are NOT recommended with pelvis issues! it can all wait.

as for me... I went to the GP on Friday morning. she gave me paracodol. and i have SLEPT!!!!!!!!!

so my mood has been improving. (sort of) i just feel angry a lot. unreasonably irritated and easily annoyed. DH of course takes the opportunity to wind me up.
i've told him that it's occured to me that i have less than 2 months before I'm attached to a couch and baby 23 hours a day and i'd really really really like to GO OUT! Hopefully he's taken the hint. He's take a few days off next week for the scan and my spa day so he suggested we go to the movies one of the days. Frankly i'd like to go out at night but beggers can't be choosers right? (and his mom can only watch DS certain days [not weekends] because she goes running [which is obviously MUCH more important than spending time with her only grandchild]....yeah i'm a bit annoyed can you tell??)

anyway, not much else going on. i'm going to take DS swimming this morning. my pelvis is really sore this morning so hopefully it'll help.

Purple - a summary of previous post like on TV series "Previously on April Mums..." That could be funny.

Glad your meds are helping a bit. And well done for sorting a bit of time out. I've not been to the cinema since DD was tiny (I used to take her as a teeny tiny baby and jut pop the boob inher mouth if she threatened to get noisy). I am SO behind on films (am I the only person who still hasn't seen the Sex & the City film?)

Schulte - I was just wondering what language your DD speaks? Presumbaly she has to speak English at nursery? And German at home? Is your DH German too?

My DDs English and Spanish are both coming along reasonably well but at the moment I think you really need to be able to speak both to understand her as the two are still mixed. She is starting to respond to questions in the same language as she is asked (e.g pronouncing 'No' in either Spanish or English depending how you ask her) and says 'Hello' or 'Hola' depending who she is speaking to. But some things (foods, colours, animals) are all in Spanish while actions and toys (dancing, jumping, bubbles, dolls) are in English. Am curious how others with two languages are getting on.

I know from having seen other children that they do eventually seperate out the languages but not sure when to expect it to happen.

Lulu, mine got really baffled with two languages going on, so I gave up, and I restarted DS1 at the age of 10. He is also going to a trilingual secondary school in September where they all come out fluent anyway. I have got friends who have struggled on with the bilingualism though, and the kids have indeed more or less worked it out eventually, so I supposed it depends on the family and the personality of the child. My DH doesn't speak very good German so that has been a bit of a problem, tbh.

Hello everyone,
and first of all CONGRATULATIONS to the newlyweds and to the new mums.

I've not been on for ages, a combination of house-hunting stress, continuing absences at DS's school meaning he was v upset and I also had him at home a lot, his CM having been diagnosed with an unidentifed probably v serious form of cancer, and the general trauma of the strike in France's universities, which is now in its 6th week...

DS had 2 weeks' holiday, so I took him to FIL's in the Lot, an epic journey (2 hrs in the car, 4 in the train, bags to lug around the station, etc.), but it did us both a lot of good. We are home again, and he's gone tearfully back to school.

I'm now on ML, so should have more time, though I doubt I'll ever catch up. I have foolishly ambitious plans for the next four or five weeks (writing an article, translating a website, decluttering the house, finally getting a bed and changing table for this poor neglected baby, looking after DS to try and boost his confidence after all the school hassle).

Puzzle, I don't think I'll join the buddy scheme: I'm not a huge mobile phone person (not too mention the cost of communicating between France and the UK for my buddy!). And DH isn't going to be on leave at the time of the birth, so with DS to take into account, things will be a bit hectic. I'll come online as soon as I can to announce the birth, though.

A "Previously on April Mums" paragraph would be great!!

Off to start cooking the lunch, will try and catch up a bit and be back before too long.

alt his talk earlier of puddings is amking me so hungry for something sweet. I think I might make and apple crumble later, have not made one for ages.
I think all of you lot fiddling down below are so brave, this is dc3 for me I am I just a wimp I am 32wks tomorrow, another 8wks to go. I am so fed up with everyone at the school asking how long, how long every time I see them. I feel like wearing a big badge saying due 28th April

Mrs Fossil: I looked about feeling calm during labour and the little booklet that came with the kit said chamomilla is good. I am not a homeopath or anything so just reading what they suggest. I would suggest getting the refill for the kit as they are tiny little pills that dissolve so fast under your tongue. Its not always clear on the website about refills I found so might be easier to call them up. The kit contains sucrose pills in 200 potency form.

You didn't Auld, I was just catching up while eating my nutella sandwich...

Springy!!!!!! How on earth did you do it!!!! That was beastly

Boff, I wouldn't attempt any painting even without SPD - can you not get your AP to do it

LuLu, DH is English and yes, DD speaks mostly English but with some German words thrown in. I sometimes wonder how she manages to get understood at nursery. MIL is also a bit worried how she'll cope when she looks after her while I push the little sister out but I guess you can almost always tell from the context what she means. DH's German is very bad so at home we speak English all the time, but I'll keep persevering... my mum would never forgive me if her granddaughter didn't speak German! From what I've read on the threads on bilingualism, you can expect them to separate the two languages when they are about 4 or 5.

Mumble, congratulations on your marriage . Two weddings on the April thread!

Haha, I think that getting the AP to paint is maybe a bit advanced, it has taken her months to find the iron. Hang on to the easy peace I say.

Carameli, I have absolutely no intention of going rooting around looking for my cervix either and there's no point in asking DH to do it (when we were walking to the car after the antenatal class he asked me what a cervix was for . I wish he'd asked in the class that would have just been )

MN is educating me in more ways than one - I'm having great fun on another thread. Were you ladies aware of the intensity of 'window snobbery' that exists?

Report
Schulte · 09/03/2009 11:29

What's window snobbery???

Brettgirl, that would indeed have been a hilarious question to ask at the antenatal class!

Morning all,
How are you all feeling?
Congratulations mumble!
Hope barbarelly's ok.
I've had a horrible night got a stomach bug again. Am soooooooo tired.
But 2 good things have happened and it's only 11.30.

  1. I've managed to catch up on this thread again. I seem to always be on here but it's always catching up and by the time I'm up to this stage, I've been far too long on computer and no time to do much more than say a quick hello. Anyway I've caught up now and am determined to spend a decent amount of time yapping today, if you're all around.
  2. One of my hippy style tops came in the post today and I love it and it even fits me just now. I thought I'd be having to wait until after the baby to wear it but no, it fits, ha ha.
Anyway I'm happy even though my whole digestive system is packing in!

Apparently wooden windows would be much better than UPVC in my (19)70s house 'if I could afford them'. I was PMSL. I mean OK, if I lived in some beautiful old cottage then maybe but I mean ffs? I just love things like that - maybe people do come round and think they are a cut above for these ridiculous reasons.

It would have been funny wouldn't it, I would literally have cried, especially as there were some very overbearing attentive and well read men at the meeting. To be fair to my husband - he did take the opportunity to read up while we were in mothercare. He had a quick look at the men's guide to pg and swotted up on the 'changes to breasts' and 'sex during pregnancy' sections. It was sooo good for him to go to the antenatal class though - he learnt a lot more than I did.

Men. They really don't have much idea do they? Mine currently enjoys 'wife baiting', where he'll wait till I get stuck on the sofa or the floor, unable to get up, and then tease me annoyingly. Usually he'd get a smack for this, but he knows I can't move.

Only 6 weeks to go... sigh... Schulte, I'm due the same day as you.

Hey does anyone know if I'm entitled to help to get DS to and from nursery? I just cannot do the walk myself anymore it's far too painful even with the support belt from physio. My mum's been helping but she's going back to work very soon and wont manage to take him for me. I really don't want to keep him off because of my problems, it's not fair on him. But I cant take him myself unless I pay at least £6 a day in taxi fares to get him there and back, which is just not an option!

Lovely, I actually can't wait to pack my hospital bag. Over the weekend we set up the moses basket. DP and I found ourselves sitting on the edge of the bed staring into it, daydreaming. How sad are we!
