Do you think it could be an irritable uterus like Boff had a while back after her bedroom antics?
From NetDoctor.
Braxton Hicks' contractions are a normal part of a healthy pregnancy, and become more common in the later months.
They are thought to increase the uterine blood flow and the transfer of oxygen to the foetus. In later pregnancy they play a part in moving the babies head down into the pelvis in preparation for labour.
Unlike the contractions of labour, they do not lead to any widening of the cervix. Braxton Hicks' contractions are not usually painful, although some women are much more aware of them than others and feel uncomfortable while they are occurring.
If your 'pains' are indeed caused by Braxton Hicks' contractions, they will be accompanied by a definite hardening of the wall of the uterus, and you should be able to feel this quite easily. The contractions usually last for about 30 seconds and are seldom more frequent than one every 15-20 minutes.
If the 'pains' that you are getting last for much longer than this, are more frequent, or more severe, then it may be that there is another cause, and it would be advisable that you arrange to see your GP again to discuss it.
If the pains that you are getting seem to fit the description here, then you do not need to be concerned.
