I'm using the www.contractionmaster.com thing & have timed a few - they're lasting between 57 seconds & 1 minute, 8 seconds, & are happening between every 2 minutes, 20 seconds and 2 minutes, 34 seconds.

Interesting

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 17:33

oh and has lil george been moving lots stillor quietened right down?

PuzzleRocks · 28/02/2009 17:33

If you are worried, have a go on this.

As you say, it's most likely BH's. And anyway, BB will not be happy if you beat her to it.

PuzzleRocks · 28/02/2009 17:34

Aah you already are.

SpringySunshine · 28/02/2009 17:35

I've had painful ones a few times now - I think this is the 5th time I've had painful ones worth talking about. Each time after sex. I have BH which don't hurt about once every 2 days & have done for a while. The painful ones have been the one time when my kidney infection set them off, & then from last Friday (wedding night ) since. These have been going on for about 8 hours now.

SpringySunshine · 28/02/2009 17:37

He was really quiet this morning before the sex & I was quite worried, despite my moaning yesterday about not being maternal & he's generally quite quiet now, but I can still feel him moving every so often. I know he's okay, but he's not moving as much as usual - but then he is getting really squished every 2 minutes

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 17:37

ooohh so about 2 weeks? is today the worst they have been and most constant?

OP posts:
SpringySunshine · 28/02/2009 17:41

Only one week of the sex-triggered ones. I'm not sure exactly about the others, because I've always gone to sleep afterwards & been aware of them when I've got up to go to the toilet in the night, but they've not kept me awake. I think these probably would, although they're not quite so painful since I took some paracetamol, which is what the MW told me to do when I phoned the hospital last Friday. They still hurt, but it's toned down a bit.

& there are times at the beginning & end of each one where it doesn't hurt, but my tummy's still hard, so I have to sort of prod it to time them properly.

PuzzleRocks · 28/02/2009 17:43

Do you think it could be an irritable uterus like Boff had a while back after her bedroom antics?

From NetDoctor.

Braxton Hicks' contractions are a normal part of a healthy pregnancy, and become more common in the later months.

They are thought to increase the uterine blood flow and the transfer of oxygen to the foetus. In later pregnancy they play a part in moving the babies head down into the pelvis in preparation for labour.

Unlike the contractions of labour, they do not lead to any widening of the cervix. Braxton Hicks' contractions are not usually painful, although some women are much more aware of them than others and feel uncomfortable while they are occurring.

If your 'pains' are indeed caused by Braxton Hicks' contractions, they will be accompanied by a definite hardening of the wall of the uterus, and you should be able to feel this quite easily. The contractions usually last for about 30 seconds and are seldom more frequent than one every 15-20 minutes.

If the 'pains' that you are getting last for much longer than this, are more frequent, or more severe, then it may be that there is another cause, and it would be advisable that you arrange to see your GP again to discuss it.

If the pains that you are getting seem to fit the description here, then you do not need to be concerned.

Hello Lovely April Ladies

I'm so excited by the title of this thread - the babies are coming out!!

I've just spent the last wee while catching up...

Oddeyes I love your girls' names. I was even tempted to change to one of them (Esme) as it's so pretty! I wouldn't do that though...
Tristalejac I hope you're feeling better now - you poor thing!
BoffinMum LOL about having a fanjo that can shoot ping pong balls - perhaps I could set that as my post-babies goal. Sorry to hear you've been having spasms and are in lots of pain .As for the b-aitchs on the other threads, they are obviously idiots who are so insecure they can't stand the fact that someone knows more than them. Please stay on this thread - you are a font of knowledge and wisdom, plus an all-round inspirational woman.
BabyBolat have you decided on your names yet? Is Caravan still under discussion?
AuldAlliance good to see you're back - hope things have got less difficult for you.
Nutty Did you get my email? I replied to your buddy system but noticed that I was still on the list of people who hadn't. I've probably done something wrong LOL at BJ for dh's efforts at home - what a wife!! How are you feeling at the moment? Once you're feeling better we can schedule our showdown to decide who gets McSteamy....
MrsFossil those name threads are awful! We were really struggling with girls' names so I posted a few months ago with a short list to gauge opinion and some people were SO MEAN! THey made horrible personal comments about me based entirely on the names we'd come up with! Unbelievable!
Frekkles it's going to be wonderful for you to be living with John!I remember that the flat you're renting sounds lovely and you'll be so happy there with your wee baby!
RachelinScotland Good luck for your tests next week - hope all is well.
Springy I was so interested to read about your no smell/no taste - one benefit could be that you won't smell baby's nappies once he goes onto solids! How is married life treating you?
Kalikaroo Yayyy for maternity leave!!
mathsmummy Happy Birthday for yesterday - glad you had a good one.

Dh and I have spent today getting last minute things for 'nursery' (you may remember that as we live in a one-bedroom flat, this is the right hand side of our bedroom!) and for hospital bag. I think we are all done now!!
Went to hospital on Thursday for last appointment - final scan, pills to soak up stomach acid before operation, blood tests etc.) so feel quite weird now! I know they're coming but I STILL can't believe it! I just can't imagine what they'll look like and how they'll be. It seems surreal still. I have to be in special unit for six hours after caeserean so dh is going to take photos of babies and run back and forth showing them to me on the screen of digital camera. I will post them as soon as I possibly can but am not sure how long it will take me to get to a computer!

Only three days to go! ARRRRRGGGGHHH! Very nervous/scared but very excited as well.

SpringySunshine · 28/02/2009 17:45

BarbarellaNz · 28/02/2009 17:48

OP posts:
SpringySunshine · 28/02/2009 17:53

Bicnod, I don't know. I don't think so, but the timings are interesting. I don't want to phone the hospital though - I'm watching Come Dine With Me & they'll make me go in if I tell them these timings! & they're almost certainly nothing, because I'm only 34 weeks today. BB's been having them for ages & she's still not got a baby, so I don't think so. It'd be nice to know one way or another, though

SpringySunshine · 28/02/2009 17:53

Gosh, imagine how pissed BB will be if I do manage to go before her

Bicnod · 28/02/2009 17:55

ooooooh - it is exciting though how long will you keep timing them before you do call the midwife?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 17:55

Springy - yup, she will not be a happy bunny to say the least LOL

OP posts:
SpringySunshine · 28/02/2009 17:56

I'm going to wait until half 6 when Come Dine With Me finishes

Bicnod · 28/02/2009 17:58

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 17:59

SpringySunshine · 28/02/2009 17:59
