I don't like the way the article makes out like Ronan Keating is so much better than him just because he sometimes goes camping with his kids - it's hardly the same as climbing Kilamanjiro, is it? & I'm not convinced that it's even entirely accurate. It feels like they're kicking out at him for being a member of Take That - want to put bets on the jouno being a Boyzone fan? Poor Gary

electra, the main thing is that they're monitoring you so closely - & you're already nearly 34 weeks, so even if LO is a bit small, it's not going to be disastrous. Due to the way centiles work there are always going to be babies at each end as well as those in the middle - they're very aware of any possible problems & will do everything to ensure that your baby's absolutely fine. & centiles in themselves are to be taken with a pinch of salt, IMO. & whatever you do, don't blame yourself! You've done nothing wrong at all.

Electra - don't panic too much. Hospitals do actually keep nappies in stock (DD was put in one before I had a chance to get out my lovely soft flannel gingham one). They also keep maternity pads in stock although lots of people have experienced grumpy midwives not wanting to dole them out to people who have forgotten them. If you went in early I'm sure they would be pretty forgiving and let you have what you need.

Also try not to worry too much about the scans. They are really inaccurate. I keep posting this like a broken record but when I was pg with DD I kept having to be scanned every couple of weeks as her measurements were coming up small. I saw different sonographers each time and yet still her measurements were small. When she was born she was 9lb 1oz and 56 cm. I do feel bitter about the stress I was put through (hours and hours googling what might be wrong with her etc etc)., but on a positive side I got to see a lot more of my baby which was really lovely. This time I feel a lot more disconnected not having had a scan since 20 weeks.

Just make sure you are eating lots of healthy foods (and take vitamins if it makes you feel better). Your baby should be fine.

Love Actually - I think they are still together, but you just know that things will never be the same - there'll always be that little 'ouch' between them They will be okay though, I'm sure of it!

LuLuBai · 02/03/2009 14:47

Jewesm - I can't remember about Alan Rickman and Emma Thomson - must watch that again.

Oh Smutty - how about the Thomas Crown Affair. Three seperate opportunities to ogle Pierce Brosnan's bum. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/03/2009 14:49

Can we go back to the smutt - that is much more on my level (I hated love actually and didn't even get to the end as it irritated me so much!!!)

So cucumbers....

LuLuBai · 02/03/2009 14:50

Oh dear - I really ought to be vacuuming rather than chatting about novels and films. DD is not going to nap forever...

Will join you again in a bit.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/03/2009 14:51

BB ROFL you!!! instigating smutt?!?!

OP posts:
LuLuBai · 02/03/2009 14:51

errr - cucumbers? before I go and do the vacuuming - what was it about cucumbers in the first place???

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/03/2009 14:52

i wonder.......if cucumbers were used as a sex aid you could still refer to yourself as being as cool as one???

whats the verdict??

OP posts:
SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/03/2009 14:54

there was a guy on dadsnet wanting his mrs to use a cucumber to pleasure herself as it was his fantasy

I love Love Actually. I watch it again and again, especially at Christmas.

I think perhaps they are separated - she has clearly gone out and got a funky new haircut and reinvented herself as single Mum. But, because she is Emma Thompson, after all, she is not bitter, and kindly offers to pick Alan up fro Heathrow so that he can see the kids at Christmas.

Plus, it has Colin Firth (in a pond, again), Huge Grant doing an entertaining dance, Billy Bob Thornton, if you really do like the dirty boys, lovely Egg from This Life....the list goes on. Yes, Knightly pops up again, but you can always FF that bit.

More on cucumbers? I haven't been back to check the thread again. I wonder what progress the poor fellow has made? The, ahem, girth of the average cucumber is quite large. Food for thought. Perhaps the courgette family more appropriate - wide range of sizes from baby courgette to marrow, and much easier to grow at home then cucs.

Juwesm · 02/03/2009 14:58

'As wet as a cucumber'???
'As hot as a cucumber'???
"You used me - used me like a cucumber and cast me aside!"???

BabyBolat · 02/03/2009 14:59

or 'tossed' be aside perhaps...

Juwesm · 02/03/2009 15:00

Oh dear, have been on t'Internet so long, have just realised have not visited bathroom all day!!!

BabyBolat · 02/03/2009 15:00

me rather than be...

Juwesm · 02/03/2009 15:00

ROFL!!

BabyBolat · 02/03/2009 15:06

ooooh have just had a big fight with the bank who have lost all the forms me and DH filled in last week for a new account we set up 14 days ago!! - why why can't people employ people that are based in the UK or at least speak english! bloody HSBC!

Juwesm · 02/03/2009 15:06

Oh bum. Have only just realised that NCT breastfeeding class clashes with first NHS antenatal class. Has anyone done NHS ones? Will I care if I miss it?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/03/2009 15:09

NCT are better (or so i have heard) i myself havent been to any.

BB - tis one of my greatest bugbears!!! (not with hsbc though)

I see we're still on the cucumber topic... a brief foray into the world of literature, followed by a swift deterioration into smut!! tee hee... I love you ladies...

Totally agree re P&P, btw - would absolutely LOVE to write a novel like that! (and act in the movie version, of course, as long as there were some suitable co-stars to swoon over...)

Still no plumber - I may have to bring out the big guns if I haven't seen anyone by 16h30... do they not KNOW that there's a pregnant, hormonal lady in this flat?? I mean really!!!

Juwesm · 02/03/2009 15:10

Does the fact that I plan to use washable nappies but don't have a tumble dryer make me a mad woman?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/03/2009 15:10

am with alliance & leicester (luckily they have english call centres) after giving abby the boot

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 02/03/2009 15:11

Juwesm - I'm halfway through my NCT ones, and have just finished my NHS ones - they were RUBBISH, an absolute waste of time compared to NCT. Go the the BF one I reckon... (ours is tomorrow night - DH is very excited!!)
