RubyBuckleberry · 02/03/2009 18:54

oh peachespaige that is terrible? This first twelve weeks is a bloody nightmare!!! I thought the 2ww was bad but this!

I've had wind too people - I reckon as long as the pain is released with a big release haha then it must be wind!

It is soooooo difficult cos all I read says if you get to nine/ten weeks your chances of MC plummet but what if you haven't seen a heartbeat - then you don't know do you, so here you are happy as a clam thinking your past the worst and bosch! no heartbeat - heartbreaking!

I haven't received anything about my scan - they are supposed to send it to me. I am so tempted to go to the EPU walk in...

Oh I wonder I wonder where we will all be in six weeks time! Good Luck everyone - good vibes to everyone!

JellytotZ · 02/03/2009 19:23

Me a DP have a scan date! We sooooo knew what the letter was and bless him, he waited to open it with me when i got home
Its on 14th April. I have been called for Jury Service on this day too so i am hoping i can defer it until a later date....? I am a primary teacher so it also means Easter hols then so i dont have to make excuses and take time off work. I bet time is going to really drag now though.....got my blood tests etc on Fri to also look forward to

Just devoured a whole tube of pringles ..... .......!!!

doggus · 02/03/2009 19:53

Treats - thank you so much for telling me that about your mil. It makes me feel better for not speaking to her, I feel like a freak sometimes! Dh was so hurt when she said I can't forgive her just like you said. Can you imagine ever saying that to one of your children?!

I have a wedding too, I'll be 13 weeks, so annoying as I will just look fat. I might get some of those Spanx things though. Can you wear black opaque tights to a wedding, please tell me you can, normally I'd fake tan it but don't want the chemicals getting to the bub!

HumphreysCorner · 02/03/2009 20:38

Jacanne-congratulations and welcome to the thread. Glad to hear you have lots of symptoms.

peachespaige-how very sad for your friend. My MC was expected as all my smptoms had gone and I didn't feel PG. Of course I only had my 1st pregnancy to compare to but was surprised I felt so well. Did your friend feel PG or had her symptoms disappeared?

Get you lot with your weddings to go to-very glam.

Big wave!

Littlemissbliss - what was that about a maternity grant? I haven't heard anything about this. Is it new? Do we all get it? How? Ta.

peachespaige · 03/03/2009 08:00

Morning all
cazza Her ms had stopped and she was feeling brighter.....
hc She told people at 9 weeks, just when the baby died!
littlepea Thats exactly what Ive been told somehow it eases the pain slightly I think. She just cant get her around still being pg iykwim.
Of course I was still wide awake at 10pm last night where as usually I be passed out by 8....panic, panic.
Some mil are just so insensitve as long as your dp knows how important he is to you.x

LittleMissBliss · 03/03/2009 08:15

Yes we all get it ! Its not means tested. You are able to apply for it if your baby is due after April 6th 2009

£190 grant to help expectant mums

The one-off payment, known as the Health in Pregnancy Grant, is designed to provide pregnant women with financial support, alongside important advice from a Health Professional, to help them invest in their individual needs during pregnancy, whilst giving them flexibility to choose how they budget and where they spend this money. It will be available to every woman from the 25th week of pregnancy, once they have had the appropriate health advice from a health professional such as their midwife.

I think its a way of the government ensuring women use the antenatal care provided by the state, as the grant is not available with-out a health professionals signature.

sammysam · 03/03/2009 08:38

Oh god peachespaige that is exactly what i'm terrified about I really feel for your friend. I think that is the worst way to find out. Especially to find that for x number of weeks you've been getting excited/feeling sick/telling people/taking care of yourself when all along there has been no heartbeat. It is so cruel. With dd I knew nothing about mmc-my only worry was that i'd imagined the whole thing!! I'm going to be so so so scared going to the scan this time round-but I suppose at least you'll know one way or another -lets just hope that we are all lucky and all see VERY strong healthy heartbeats
I am starting to wander if MN whilst waiting for the scan is a good idea-it is scaring the life out of me

KleineMaus · 03/03/2009 09:03

Ta very much littlemissbliss! All this talk of mc, especially mmc is making me edgy, especially as I've been feeling slightly better in the past couple of days. 10 weeks today (as far as I know) but not even having booking appointment with midwife till next week, so goodness knows when I'll get my scan. Is it likely that the midwife will listen for a heartbeat? Would she be able to hear it at 11 weeks?

Jacanne · 03/03/2009 09:16

My first pregnancy ended in a mmc. With me it wasn't a case of symptoms stopping, they never actually started. Try not to worry too much, though easier said than done

I think 11 weeks maybe too early to hear a heartbeat - I know my MW struggled to find one at 13 weeks with dd2.

Cazza28 · 03/03/2009 09:26

Morning All,

I will be 10 + 4 when I have my booking in appointment to so my scan will probably be later then 12 weeks as well. Think I will ask her to see if she can hear the heat beat any way, she can always say no!

I am glad I am still feeling shattered, dizzy, queasy although not sick and peeing a lot may long the symptoms last!! (well till 12 weeks anyway)

Have a good day x

Cazza28 · 03/03/2009 09:28

sorry that was meat to say she can only say no! Duh!

HumphreysCorner · 03/03/2009 10:07

Morning all

The MW won't listen to a heartbeat until about 16 weeks.

I feel that once you have had a MC it does spoil what should be a special time. The first 12 weeks when only you know and perhaps family know should be an exciting time. Everything crossed for happy scans for us all.

I am hoping to use the Grant to buy a new lighter pram.

Have a good ladies.

peachespaige · 03/03/2009 10:13

Im so sorry if Ive caused concern.
It happens to 1% of pregnancys so in the greater scheme of things its not too common. For all of the horror stories there are hundreds of happy ones, just that nobody talks about those!!
I didnt know about the grant, how lovely.
Im sat here twiddling my thumbs as ds2 decided to go back to bed at 9.30 after dropping ds1 to school. Hes so funny absolutely loves his bed, unlike ds1.
I am sooooo constipated its this thats giving me a big tummy!
Still slightly metallic in my mouth but no tiredness today or yesterday.
Is anyone else exercising? I do 2 body attack classes a week and am starting swimming one day aweek too. Im sure thats why I dont feel so tired in the evenings, makes you feel more energetic than sluggish iykwim.

Cazza28 · 03/03/2009 10:51

I have a dog so I do loads of walking with him so I am using that as my exercise. I want to start swimming but I am so tired when I get back from work I go to bed at 7:30/8! Maybe in the 2nd trimester I may have more energy.

Treats · 03/03/2009 11:15

peaches - think I x-posted with you yesterday so have only just read about your friend. So sorry to hear this - think others have already said this but it's just the worst nightmare isn't it?

Feel for you in having to support her while you're pregnant. Had a long conversation with my sister last night about our respective pregnancies and I'm almost more concerned that nothing goes wrong for her than I am for myself! It would be awful to be parading my bump in front of her if she was grieving for one she lost. I can't bear to think about it.

Have to draft our company's maternity leave policy today...... .

Treats · 03/03/2009 11:16

doggus - yes you can wear opaque tights, as long as you have the right outfit to go with them. I wore black opaques to my friend's wedding in December - wore them with an orange fitted shift dress.

HappyTangerine · 03/03/2009 11:20

Morning
Hello and congrats to the new posters
Am picking up my car at 12 so very excited!

Also trying to book a holiday and negotiate with DH at the same time. Before I fell pg, we were planning to do the Inca trail in Peru this year or a 23 day tour of Turkey and Armenia. I'll be 16/17 weeks when we go and I think the Turkey one would be too much. Have already ruled out the Inca trail! Not sure what to do-we're not really beach holiday people and he's getting a bit narky about not being able to go anywhere "interesting."

Getting a bit impatient as have heard nothing from midwife re booking in or scan.I was running on the beach and sandhills every day before the dog passed away, now we have car again I can carry on swimming.

Managed to worry everyone silly yesterday by unplugging the phones-the company I've just left started phoning me and were really getting on my nerves-they'd started emailing me at 6.36am! Nothing today so I think they've taken the hint!

LittleMissBliss · 03/03/2009 11:38

KleineMaus That's ok!

Cazza28 i'm going to ask my M/W to have a listen too at my booking in appointment/home visit next. I'll be 10+3 weeks. I heard ds's heart beat at 10+ weeks in my last pregnancy but i was a good stone lighter then and a bit of a rake so heartbeat was much easier to find. No harm in asking though.

Peaches I need to do some exercise, the most i do is walking to the park or shops. When the weather picks up i'm going to make more of an effort to walk more. I might look into pregnancy yoga or something......

Ds is having an early nap and then we are off out to lunch. yum yum!

Hope you all have a lovely day.

MrsPuddleduck · 03/03/2009 11:50

Hi! - I am sorry I still can't get to grips with the thread, but am trying hard The pregnany brain has really got me. I spent a good minute the other day seriously looking for the dishwasher tablets in the fridge

I had never heard of the healthy pregnancy grant thing That's my holiday spends sorted then

HC - are you in your maternity jeans then! I am close.

I have got my box of maternity clothes down from the loft and did wear the joggers at the weekend. God it was bliss. I am only 7 weeks though so am resisting the urge to wear them until 12 weeks (as long as my waistbands hold).

Tangerine - sorry about your dog . I have a holiday booked to Majorca when I will be 26 weeks and I am a bit worried about it now. I would stick to somewhere where you are not likely to get food poisoning etc

The only exercise I am getting is running around after children all day and walking to and from school. It's enough for me. I think my body would go into panic mode if I ever broke out into a sweat!

MustGetSleep · 03/03/2009 11:56

So sorry for your friend Peaches

yay for the grant!

I'm another one with a wedding - beginning of Sept. One of our best friends too, so I should be in photos nice and beached whale looking

I am much more nervous this time, I think it is because we are keeping it so quiet. By this stage with the others we had started telling family/friends, but where we can't risk DD finding out before we have a scan and heartbeat, we can't tell.

Finally have my GP appointment tomorrow to get registered with the m/w

HumphreysCorner · 03/03/2009 12:06

I have found some maternity jeans on Ebay but they are only a 10 which I am but not in Next jeans. These are ones that have the label cut off so hoping they are not from Next. All the jeans seam to be under the bump ones and I can't stand anything underneath. Have to wear enormous knickers so they go over the top along with trousers, skirts etc. I can manage in my normal jeans for another 2 weeks maybe. I looked in the roof at the clothes I kept (no trousers) but as I was 4 stone heavier all the tops and bras are mahoosive. Think I can salvage a couple of tops so will get them down once I have had a scan. Having said that, I have always been to the first scan in maternity trousers.

Just seen my MW who is like a big cuddly aunt, she is great. She got my scanning date for me which is the 24th March!!!! Oh bugger.... Now i am in a panic. Now im starting to think what if history repeats, but then again, i cant stop anything so im just going to go with the flow until then. Ive just ate 2 egg & tomato sandwiches, i havent been able to eat in ages, plus i had a cup of tea which i went off a couple of weeks ago...not sure if my MS is swifting to night-time like it did with my 1st pregnancy or if this is why im starting to get doubts about things? She gave me a book on having a birth in Germany, oh god im not looking forward to my scans, sit on chair, feet up and away we go! I really wish i had lost weight before i got pregnant!!!

theboob · 03/03/2009 12:28

hello all

this thread is moving fast, had my booking in yesturday with the midwife and all was well, she did say though that in blackpool the dating scan has changed to 13-14 weeks so i have a wait ,she felt my tummy and said my uterus is moving out of my pelvis which is a good sign i hope, she could tell how far i was from that

just to let you all know that from april you can claim child benifit for your unborn child from 29 weeks, this will also be a big help
sorrry i could not give more personal messages but i cant keep up
my midwife has also refered me to the hospital as i have an allergy to dressings and non latex products which all the hospitals now use,i develop large watery blisters after a few hours if touched by them for too long, god knows what they will do there.......so now the long wait for my scan begins and i so want to hear the heartbeat as i am also petrified ,but i'm sure i have felt small wiggling movements very low down which calms me down ,hope you are all well today

MrsPuddleduck · 03/03/2009 12:28

Littlepea - I wish I had lost weight before getting pregnant too. I am a stone heavier than I was when I conceived DS2. The overhang after a 3rd c-scetion is going to be horrendous!
