Here ya go, new thread! We're almost there!!!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
lauraloo09 · 17/03/2009 11:56

june didn't need a full bladder last week, just make sure you eat something to make the baby active (i did that but baby still slept the whole way thro the scan)

Went to aquanatal there and couldn't do class I was in so much pain so went back to work early. I have the option of using some flexi and taking a half day, but should I just take painkillers and stay at work or should I use the time I have?

I am also being re-referred to the physio, but think I'll be heading to gp soon

June2009 · 17/03/2009 13:20

laura I'd take some time off if I could right now, I can't get away this week and there's loooooaaaads to do.

Mw said I won't be getting another scan, even when I asked if we could check whether the soft marker is gone.
I can't help wondering what the point is in telling people about a soft marker if it's "nothing to worry about" like we were told. All it has done is worry us and stayed at the back of our minds throughout.
I really don't see the benefit in saying anything at all in the first place, I don't know anyone who was told this and not worried themselves silly.

Gonna get something to eat, that should cheer me up!

Naat · 17/03/2009 13:52

Hi ladies!

Back from the dentist. I had a "deep clean" done and now my gums hurt But well... he told me to go back after the baby is born, so that will give me some months LittleSarah make your appointment! Congrats on your last day at work!

June sorry for my ignorance, but what's a soft marker? Hope lunch cheered you a bit

Laura, I agree with June, if you have the possibility, then take a week off... As you say, you're in so much pain the rest will come in really handy.

Insy, as I said before, we're a mess... We have 3 or 4 but DH won't make up his mind! (funny how I blame him hahaha) I like Uma and DH likes Chloe, Cleo, Uma and Petra (the latter has been vetoed but he doesn't know yet). We liked Mila as well but in Arg. it's the short form of a meat dish so we're not sure if she'll hate us forever if we go down that road hahaha. And of course we have the added feature that we want it to be good both in Eng and Spanish as poor LO doesn't deserve to be called anything but her name Ideas veeeery welcome!!!

Bigcar thanks for sending some sunny thoughts!! Suddenly it's lovely here

Bunny demand some soft massage!

Tee glad to hear you're feeling better today. Enjoy your holiday with DH!

lauraloo09 · 17/03/2009 14:02

Got myself a doc appointment for 4.50 this afternoon, not sure what he will tell me but just looking for advice on how to cope never know might give me time off work (can you tell I'm hoping too much for that )

littlesarah congrats on your last day of work, cant wait till I finish up 32 working days and counting

tee glad your feeling a bit better today and the names you've chosen are all lovely!!

daisy5 · 17/03/2009 15:00

Hi all

Thanks all for your interest. I think I've made it accessible now, and have made the pictures visible to:

I don't think the woman I photographed would be too keen on everyone being able to see them, you see.

I am interested to know:
How would you like your bump photographed?
Which angle are you most proud of?
What do you find yourself doing, patting it, cuddling it, resting your hands on it?
If you were to have a photo of your bump, and in a few years time looking back, what do you think you would most love to have captured (a) the sheer size of it (b) the beauty of the shape (c) your silhouette (d) anything else?
Would you like your face in it or prefer the bump alone?
What about humorous photos - if I were to put a message on your tummy (or across your forehead etc), what would it say?
What images have you seen of pregnancy that you really liked?

Thanks again. All thoughts welcome.
Daisy

Naat · 17/03/2009 15:06

Am I the only one who still can't see Daisy's pics???

lauraloo09 · 17/03/2009 15:12

I can't see them either

ermintrude13 · 17/03/2009 15:14

nor me - there's no link saying 'daisy's photos' which there usually is on profile pages. school run now but i'll look later, and if i can't see anything i'll just try to answer the questions and hope that helps!

June2009 · 17/03/2009 15:25

I think I'd like my bump photogrpahed sideways every couple of weeks or every month to show the progress.
Certain tops really accentuate my bump which I am quite proud of.
I hold its sides rather than pat or cuddle.
It would be great if we could have a picutre that actually showed that there is something moving in there.
It would be great if a pic could convey everyhting that goes with pregnancy rather than just a standard pregnant woman's belly.
Its amazing how right until I got pregnant it was just something normal that happens to every couple and now that I am pregnant I realise that it is so much more than that, truly amazing and worrying and tiring etc.

I'd like both, pictures with my face in and without.

humourous stuff... a big daisy or a sunflower with a "make love not war" slogan I think or something along the lines.
You know some women rent their bump for advertising?

I think I saw a pic of a pregnant woman, black and white, sitting with legs crossed with her bump showing, (it might have been britney spears a few years ago) and thought it looked beautiful.
Can't think of anything else! But I can't see your pics yet ;)

Tee2072 · 17/03/2009 15:27

No, I can't see them either!

OP posts:
Naat · 17/03/2009 15:29

Hope I can see them son, Daisy. If not, I'll do what June just did and answer your questions anyway in case you have a deadline or something

insywinsyspider · 17/03/2009 15:32

daisy I just get a v basic profile page and no photos - hope I'm not being dense... what am I doing wrong?

tee lovely names, naat no advice about spanish names I'm just impressed you have short list we just can't decide and the list for a boy keeps changing! littlesarah sounds like you've pretty much decided too, lovely names, I really like both Alexander and Finnley, I best get my baby name book out again, we're tempted by a boys name that 2 people already have in our family, my cousins so the surname would be different and wouldn't be in 'honour' of them or anything but it makes me unsure about using it... since we don't have dd we still have our original choices for girls but as time goes on I can't decide if I like the names as much - Lyra or Mathilda, dh loves Mathilda, I'd prefer Lyra I think

Naat · 17/03/2009 15:37

Insy I like those names you mention for boys, esp. Finnley. Oh, and at "in honour of them" hahaha. My DH likes Matilda as well, as it works both in English and Spanish

daisy5 · 17/03/2009 16:47

I don't understand. In the photo gallery, I gave access to All Mumsnet Mates and made you all my mates. What am I doing wrong, or does it take overnight to update?

This is so frustrating!!

Naat · 17/03/2009 16:55

Daisy I can see them!!!!

I'll answer your questions after I have a look, ok?

bunnymother · 17/03/2009 17:05

Afternoon ladies!

Tee - very pretty names, I esp like Alice too. Am liking the French version ? Alys.

Insy - the name situation is not going very well at bunny HQ. DH has fastened onto the name Amelie and won?t even look at other names [v annoyed face w steam coming out ears]. I like it, but want to think about more than just one name! I really like Adeline, Elara, Evelyn, Aurelia, Emilie, Ainsley and Ava (although think the latter is now a bit too popular for me). And Amelie. Alexander and Finnley are great names ? I would have them on my short list if we were having a boy.

daisy - I can?t see your pictures either ? just see a limited profile and your active threads. Although here are answers (IN CAPITALS) to your questions in case it helps...
How would you like your bump photographed? EITHER FRONT OR SIDE ON
Which angle are you most proud of? FRONT ON
What do you find yourself doing, patting it, cuddling it, resting your hands on it? PATTING, RUBBING MY BUMP ALL THE TIME
If you were to have a photo of your bump, and in a few years time looking back, what do you think you would most love to have captured (a) the sheer size of it (b) the beauty of the shape (c) your silhouette (d) anything else? I WOULD LIKE A,B AND C, AND ALSO TO HAVE DH IN THE PHOTO IF POSSIBLE, TOO.
Would you like your face in it or prefer the bump alone? WOULD LIKE MY FACE IN IT, TOO. ESP AS AM MORE RELAXED THAT PROB EVER BEEN (NO DOUBT DUE TO EXCESSIVE PREGNANCY HORMONES COUPLED W NOT WORKING)
What about humorous photos - if I were to put a message on your tummy (or across your forehead etc), what would it say? WOULDN?T WANT HUMOROUS PHOTOS.
What images have you seen of pregnancy that you really liked? I LOVE THE ANNIE LEIBOVITZ PHOTO OF DEMI MOORE ? THINK ITS BEAUTIFUL

LittleSarah - congrats on finishing work today!

Laura - sorry to hear you are having such a tough time, hope the pain eases up soon. Sounds like taking time off might be best, if you can.

Naat - Agreed - poor DH is already on a head stroking regime, so why not also introduce soft massage?! Your potential names are lovely, although I personally wouldn?t use Matilda as we are Australian and there is that v Australian song we would have to contend with . For non-Aussies, think its a good name.

Have just eaten another lunch, but am so pooped I need a lie down. Mop the floors or have a nap?

Tee2072 · 17/03/2009 17:08

daisy Now I can see them! I think I'd want my whole body, not just my bump photographed. I do like the ones at an angle, though!

I wouldn't want humours photos.

bunny nap. Floor can wait!

OP posts:
Naat · 17/03/2009 17:09

How would you like your bump photographed?
I think I'd like it to be photographed from the sides, with my hands around it or "holding" it. I'm doing that myself every week since week 12 but of course it's nothing professional

Which angle are you most proud of?
The sides, I guess, as you can see it better.

What do you find yourself doing, patting it, cuddling it, resting your hands on it?
I'm touching it ALL the time. Feeling it, trying to feel movements, etc. I talk to it all the time, "share" things and thoughts along the day Sounds really silly now that I write it

If you were to have a photo of your bump, and in a few years time looking back, what do you think you would most love to have captured (a) the sheer size of it (b) the beauty of the shape (c) your silhouette (d) anything else?
All three options. I'd love to have professional photos taken and then look back at this moment.

Would you like your face in it or prefer the bump alone?
Mmmm I'm quite shy in front of a camera, so the ones I've taken of the bump up to now don't have my face But I guess it'd be nice to have some of them with it as well.

What about humorous photos - if I were to put a message on your tummy (or across your forehead etc), what would it say?
Tummy: Mi mami piró (my mum went bananas)

What images have you seen of pregnancy that you really liked?
I've seen pictures of women wearing trousers showing their bump quite nicely and not wearing a top (just covering their breasts with their arms); also women caressing their bumps and looking down; and pictures of both mum and dad with the bump, those are really sweet as well.

Hope this helps, Daisy Let me know if you need anything else for the project.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 17/03/2009 17:21

I can see one too, Daisy....

Lots to catch up on...

Went to work today and now I'm pooped! Only two more Tuesdays to go and I can't bloody wait! Can't be doing with hauling my ass into school to be greeted by a bunch of stroppy teens and then trying to enthuse them about the wonders of Shakespeare or the intricacies of subordinate clauses.... Most of the kids are fab and really sweet. Some of my top set Y9s were all moaning about me going saying they'd really miss me, which is lovely! Made me feel a bit teary (damn hormones!)

I think FIL is out of HDU at hospital and in a ward this afternoon, DH is visiting as I type, so I'll know more when he gets back.

Had the most psychedelic dreams last night. I beat up Davina McCall, and had a fist fight with a girl at work. Jeez, I'm not a violent person at all, don't know what my id's playing at....

Name is Harry David John for this DS. Harry was the other name we didn't use for DS1, and I wouldn't have got away without using it this time round. It was DH's grandfather's name (who he adored) so it was set in stone from the off. David is for DH's father and John is my father's.

Gorgeous dress littlesarah - It's so beautiful!

daisy - glad you and DH have called a truce. Well done for speaking up!

Laura - sorry to hear about your pains. I hope they ease off. Definitely take it easy over the next few days. IME, no one bloody thanks you for coming into work, it's not worth the hassle.

insy - glad your boys are sleeping through!

Littlesarah - congrats on your last day of work

June - sorry to hear that you won't e getting another scan. What's the bloody point in telling you about the soft markers, if they are just going to leave it. What a lot of unnecessary worry

Naat - hope your gums feel better soon

Hello to everyone else!

bunnymother · 17/03/2009 17:31

Daisy - I can see the pictures now, too! Seems like you have mastered the MN technology!

ermintrude13 · 17/03/2009 17:33

daisy I can see them now, must have been a time delay on access or something. It's a lovely bump, but mine's about that big already - hope she's not full term

I think from the side is always the more 'impressive' but i like looking at the bump in the mirror straight-on because it's so clear in these later months, the way it starts jutting forward at each side. Makes the rest of me look quite narrow, which is always nice. Someone mentioned a mother sitting cross-legged cradling the bump and that sounds like a good pose too. With face, especially in the straight-on shot, would be nice, and a silhouette from bump to head too.

I stroke it quite a lot, and put my hands underneath the bump, and often find I'm putting a protective hand on it when squeezing past parked cars or through a narrow doorway.

The most humorous I'd go is a photo of one of my other dc resting a beaker on it! Tempting to write a message saying 'Let Me Out!' but probably not v tasteful

I wouldn't know where to put DH in this kind of photo - I think it's just a mum and baby thing.

Tee I like those names. We're still keen on the girl's name we'd have used for DS but not quite sure about boys yet - a shortlist of about 3.

bunnymother Hmm, I hope your DH isn't thinking about the cute actress who played Amelie in the film. My DH mentioned 'Uma' as a possibility but only to rile me cos he's rather keen on Ms Thurman. . You do need to discuss various possibilities before landing on one, so hopefully he'll broaden his mind soon!

Naat My DD is Matilda Beatrice and she likes being called Tilly. It can also be shortened to Milly, Matty and Tilda. It does work well in both germanic and romance languages.

June2009 · 17/03/2009 17:41

Argh, just realised my GTT is tomorrow, not Thursday. I don't mind as this way it'll be done sooner but now it clashes with the new bookkeeper coming over and my office is a tip. I am trying really hard with this brain of mine, it used to be so efficient!! Dh calls it "baby mode".

daisy Those are lovely pics and what a wicked bump, I'm very !
People always put their hand on top of the "shelf" of my belly and I can't help but thinking "that's my squashed up organs you can feel right here" since I can only mostly feel the baby towards my belly button.

dreamydowler · 17/03/2009 17:56

Hi everyone Wow so much talk of bumps being photographed. Im tempted to have a cast done of mine as Im expecting this to be my last pregnancy Id like a photo with my partners hands wrapped around my belly or my youngest child kissing my belly. I like belly art and perhaps a tastefuly decorated bump would be nice too.

Im glad everyone is feeling relatively ok. The heartburn has been making me feel very sick again lately and as a teacher I cant think of anything worse than having to teach this late on. I walked the 40 minute each way journey to the school and back yesterday morning and have been having terrible trouble just getting up off the sofa since. Climbing the stairs is a real battle I think Ive aggrevated my spd which I was trying so hard to avoid this time round.
TMI ALERT for those eating
Ive also managed to contract worms which Im seriously peeved about especially as there isnt a suitable medicine for us pregnant ladies so am resorting to numerous baths and changes of underwear a day to relieve the itching. It could take six weeks to clear apparently

LittleSarah · 17/03/2009 19:40

Daisy - Great pics!

Answers -
How would you like your bump photographed?
Front on or from the side, maybe a bit of both actually, not a complete bump profile but not totally front on either. And perhaps from bottom of bump to head, basically whole top two thirds and then perhaps just bump itself.
Which angle are you most proud of?
I think the angle I described above, maybe more front on but angled a little. (over thinking this I think!)
What do you find yourself doing, patting it, cuddling it, resting your hands on it?
Resting hands on it, especially now I can often feel a bit of baby through it...
If you were to have a photo of your bump, and in a few years time looking back, what do you think you would most love to have captured (a) the sheer size of it (b) the beauty of the shape (c) your silhouette (d) anything else?
The beauty of it, looking lovely and curvy and not minding being all about curves!
Would you like your face in it or prefer the bump alone?
Both, definitely one of each
What about humorous photos - if I were to put a message on your tummy (or across your forehead etc), what would it say?
Not sure about this, maybe smile it'll all be over soon... or what? You said you loved a woman with curves!
What images have you seen of pregnancy that you really liked?
See Diane Keaton's pic in the film The Family Stone, beautiful, black and white, natural, just fab.

Insy - Got your CAT, will send book in the next couple of days, enjoy!

lauraloo09 · 17/03/2009 19:53

daisy wonderful pics very of the woman's bump. I think I would like my whole body photographed.

Went to GP and he examined me, he thinks my 'pubis' is separating too much and that is causing my pain he gave me a 1 week sick line but stated that the pain isn't going to ease much. Think I'll take my week off but work is going to be so pissed off with me (sorry for the language)

Anyhoo need to try and catch up
