Hello? Very quiet this evening??

OP posts:
BabyBolat · 20/02/2009 19:49

Evening all

Hope everyone is ok - am afraid I will be adding to the moaning camp tonight

Have had such a horrible day and yes Nutty you are right by boss is a knob! He has been difficult all day as he is tired and hungover and with that and picky clients irritating me have not been in the best moods!

Have just finished work (7.30!) and have to work tomorrow as my boss committed to doing something for Monday without even consulting me to see if anyone in the team had time to do it (they don't) so have a good few hours of work to do.

DH has also just come in and complained there is no food in the house (ggrrr) so I told him to go and buy some and he stropped off grumbling to himself!

On the plus side my MW said today that if I want she will sign me off sick until the baby is born or at least the last 2-3 weeks so I will be going in on Monday armed with this and they will have a choice to have me working from home 3 days a week or off sick completely.

Also the baby is NOT engaged and I was so sure it was - mw reckons it is trying its hardest to get there but not yet! But I really don't want to go late and the longer this LO takes to stay down there the longer I have to stay pregnant for!

So had my appointment today and didn't get that NHS form becuase the dr said the mw has it and mw says dr does!! All is fine, baby is a little bit on the small side apparently but nothing too much to worry about and as we have seen that clearly means nothing as I could end up having a 9lber!

Sorry for all the SPD sufferers and other issues today but hope that everyone is feeling ok - yay shultes for the positiveness!!

BabyBolat · 20/02/2009 19:51

Also on the plus side my MW said today that the baby is perfectly proportioned and has a lovely little head (so much so she got 4 students to come in and have a feel because it was so clear and perfectly formed!)

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/02/2009 20:03

Yay BB

Sod giving work the option, just go off sick if they will pay you, finishing at 7.30 and having to work your saturday indeed!! it's just not on!!

Men just dont get that it's their job to provide food lol they are supposed to be the hunter gatherers after all lol

Bless your perfectly proportioned baby awwww

Schulte · 20/02/2009 20:14

LOL at 'lovely little head', sounds like you're baking the perfect baby there BB! I don't think when they engage and how much has anything to do with when you'll give birth... not from what I've seen with my friends anyway. Definitely go on sick leave now, you're only a month away from your due date and certainly shouldn't be working overtime. I think they can make you start your maternity leave early but I'd definitely recommend getting some proper rest before it all starts!

Schulte · 20/02/2009 20:29

Is there anybody out there... or have you all gone off to give birth?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/02/2009 20:31

Lol i wish

Hi ... thanks for the shout Nutty and sorry I've not been around so much. I find this thread really hard to keep up with because it moves so fast and I've been trying to get on with RL stuff like decorating the nursery and generally getting organised.

The midwife is scaring me by making 'big baby' type comments, so I've very jealous of you BabyBolat!!

I'm also really jealous of those who have either started maternity leave or will be starting it very soon - I'm not going on leave until the 19th March and work is really starting to feel like too much effort.

I hope you don't mind but I'm going to stay out of the buddy system - things are going to be a little hectic over the next few weeks with work, a planning application to submit, I need to finish off the admin on my dad's estate before the baby is born and scrub the house from top to bottom - I'd hate to let someone else down by not responding to their text etc.

Can't believe no births so far - when is barbarella due to have the triplets?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/02/2009 20:44

Hi Babypringle

No Problem, Thanks for letting me know wow things sound really hectic for you, hope you find time to relax at some point. Good to hear from you. xx

Hiya everyone I'm sure I've missed lots of threads, but here again to check in! LOL

Anyone else having leg cramps??? I'm getting awful cramps in the night. They wake me up several times every night and I must jump out of bed and stand on my legs to try and sort them out. Unfortunately I'm left with sore legs for some hours afterwards. I'm sure I had them a bit with one or other of my previous pregnancies, but seems they're quite bad this time. And between leg cramps and toddlers waking in the night, not much sleep at the moment!

Not many days left till due date - well, seems it's nearly down to counting days rather than weeks! LOL

Got a scan for 6th of April (when I'm 36 weeks) to check position of placenta etc since I'm planning a home birth!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/02/2009 21:17

Hi Rachelinscotland

sorry about your leg cramps, have you tried sleeping with a pillow between them?

Yay for scan would you like to join our buddy system btw?

Evening again! - DH redeemed himself slightly by taking me out to dinner (although I think it was largely the choice of buying dinner or going to the supermarket that made that decision rather than being overly nice!!!)

Just thought springy will be all married up and hiding herself away in her honeymoon hotel! Sure the day was amazing - we had really nice spring weather here too as well so hope she did!

Rachel pillow's did help me a lot - although not looking forward to tonight, had lots of bloods and injections today so my back, legs and arms are all bruised and pin-cushioned!

I know it sounds silly but I got all proud and maternal when the MW was gushing about my baby to the student (she was probably the nicest mw I have ever had, the mum-like ones that you just want to hug and know they will look after you no matter what!) but I was like, yes, that is my baby with the perfect head!!! God knows what I will be like when it is actually here!!

I think we will start to hear the patter of tiny newborn feet from early march [excited emoticon]

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/02/2009 21:38

lol yup sorry to lower the tone but i bet Mrs Springy's having a good old honeymoon bonk as we speak lol

yay for your dh, and you go ahead and be proud and maternal xx

BabyBolat · 20/02/2009 21:40

I bet she is!! LOL on our wedding night I was so tired but absolutely refused to go to bed until I had opened the presents and cards!!!! Also the big bed was so comfortable (one of those big oversized ones with maqssive duvets and pillows) that my first words were 'Oh I am going to sleep so well in here!!'

Poor DH!!

bumpalump · 20/02/2009 21:43

Hi Rachel, I'm due 4/4 and having the same problem as you, but, as well as the leg cramps and a toddler who wakes up a couple of times.....the closer to due date I get the more my husband sleep walks/talks due to stress so I am also up with him twice a night!!!!!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/02/2009 21:45

Lol BB i did the same (re prezzies and cards) took about 2 hours lol poor boy good job our men love us eh

Hi all Rachel have heard that a banana before bed can help with cramps also if i feel that crampy twinge in my calf i straighten my leg then flex my foot as hard as i can with toes pointing towards my shin. This has helped me not get the full on cramp.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/02/2009 21:56

Hey Mrsfossil

how are you? would you like to join our buddy system btw?

Hello people. Lots happier now. Got breakfast in bed, and then got taken out for the day.

First of all we hired a shopmobility wagon. Now this is something you probably think is very old ladyish. However I found if you put your crutches in the clips on the sides, they look like machine guns, and then if you turn it up to level 10 and go manically over bumps at speed, it is the best fun possible with SPD, believe me. I literally laughed until I wept. Over and over again. My only regret was that I did not have Nutty in another one by my side doing it in tandem with me, like disabled and heavily pg cowboys yelling yeee-hah.

I then got taken to a fab and trendy restaurant for lunch and had a glass of Chablis with it. DH had discovered a brand new spa near the restaurant and treated me to an hour long 'Biarritz' pedicure which involved sitting in a specially heated massage chair and soaking my feet in a jacuzzi thing. Then they did my cuticles etc and painted my toenails nicely pink. I actually fell asleep, it was so relaxing. I had a massage as well, lying on my side, and then they did my nails pink to match my feet. I fell asleep then as well. DH apparently had some sort of man wrap followed by a massage, and was almost comatose with endorphines afterwards. I asked him 'What did you have then?' and he just murmured 'Dunno ... ' and smiled, as he had practically lost the powers of speech.

DH then found us a funky bar that only opened last week, and I had a glass of champagne and some tapas with him. The bar had a lovely atmosphere and the food was outstanding.

We then came home because this is the longest I have been out for months. Then the best bit. DH and I had a little carnal knowledge to celebrate me cheering up (sans thrusting because of the issues last weekend), and I got the surprise of my life. My SPD appears to have vanished!!! Well not completely, but I went to the bathroom afterwards and suddenly realised I was walking normally and the pain had totally gone. I walked around the bedroom a few times and it had still gone. I then went down the stairs to test things out, and it was still gone. I then RAN up the stairs just for the novelty of it, and it twinged a bit at the back but was really just like being normally 8 months pg. At that point DH said I was scaring him and could I please stop before it came back and I got stuck and hurt myself.

Anyway, whether it is increased blood flow to the area or the baby curling up smaller, or something to do with the bones clicking into a good position I don't know, but I am very pleased about it nonetheless.
