DH has just volunteered my very novice website skills to someone! It's going to be in exchange (apparently) for some doula 'work.'
In the mean time I've just eaten half a large strawberry swiss roll... it was not as strawberry-y as I was hoping

Kalikaroo · 20/02/2009 12:48

Hi everyone - sorry it's been a while since my last post. I'm starting maternity leave at the end of next week and things have been very hectic (so no skiving off to post on MN!!) .

Good luck with everything today Springy - have a fab time and enjoy every minute of it.

I'm so knackered these days with work, the neverending ice & snow I have to trudge through while walking to work and lack of sleep (horrid insomnia). I can't wait to go on maternity leave so I can put my feet up and relax a bit. My MW was getting on at me at my last appointment for not putting on weight!! (and I've been pretty 'Rubinesque' my whole life!). It's because I haven't had the time to eat properly and I've been running around far too much.

Also things at home are not exactly brilliant either just now because DH and I have been fighting like cat and dog for the last few weeks. He's really been smothering me during this pregnancy and, though I know it's only because he cares, it's driving me mad because I'm a very independent sort of person. The mad hormonal crying etc (by me obviously! )also isn't helping.

Sorry for the moany rant - I don't really have anyone to speak to in RL because I live abroad and things are getting on top of me a bit at the mo'.

OddEyes · 20/02/2009 12:51

Kalikaroo - yay for mat leave starting, hope this last week of work and handover easier than you expect. Look forward to hearing more from you.
Re hormones - they are bizare hey? I cry and have no idea why?

OddEyes · 20/02/2009 12:53

bizarre & no idea why.

OddEyes · 20/02/2009 13:03

ooowwww! lower tummy pain! oooowww!
going to have a rest. think i over did it with cardiff and then ironing this morning... oooowwww! not ready yet! she moving lots too...sugar!

Bleuravin · 20/02/2009 13:15

dear me we all seem to be suffering with the Bh today... I wonder if it's the moon or something
Feet up everyone!

Kalikaroo · 20/02/2009 13:20

I've been fantasising about what I'm going to do on my first day of maternity leave:

  1. lie in bed until after DH gets up and makes the coffee
  2. have a leisurely breakfast with proper food e.g. eggs, croissant etc. instead of hastily gulped bowl of cereal 3)go back to bed to digest food
  3. spend the whole day in my jammies
  4. buy a massive bag of pick and mix (or get DH to!) and eat the lot while lounging on bed watching BBC version of Pride & Prejudice all 5 hours of it!!

Aaaahhhh bliss...........

Bleuravin · 20/02/2009 13:25

My sister and I did this the last time she came to visit... DH thought it amusing until he found crumbs on his side of the bed...

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/02/2009 13:33

Kalikaroo - that sounds like a blissfull day of may leave (make sure you have many supplies for pride and predjudice!!!) will you be joining our buddy system?

OddEyes - yikes, how are you doing? would a bath help? x

Kalikaroo · 20/02/2009 13:50

Don't think I'll be joining the buddy system at the mo' what with living outside of the UK etc. (my mobile phone is only for work use and I don't use it for private calls/texts). Will hopefully be on MN more often after next week though once I'm on maternity leave.

Swaliswan · 20/02/2009 13:52

Kalikaroo - poor you. It sounds as if you are having a hard time. I keep getting the crying for no reason thing as well. My first few days of mat leave are going to consist of having my eyebrows threaded, my hair cut, the rest of me pampered at the Clarins skin spa and lots of shopping/laundry being done in preparation for baby.

I appear to have strained some tummy muscles and made it worse by hoovering and then carrying DD home from nursery (Me: DD do you want to walk home, DD: Uhuh, two minutes later at the bottom of nursery's driveway, DD: Duddle!)

staryeyed · 20/02/2009 14:12

Hello everyone . I keep losing track of the anti natal threads as I spend most time on SN or other parts of the board. Have emailed to join the buddy system.

Can I ask you all if you are suffering from bloating in this pregnancy. Its really odd because I feel so hungry but cant eat much without feeling bloated and rubbish. Im packing in the fruit and veg and have cut out a lot of rubbish which has helped but Im still a walking fart bag!

Im very tired at the moment still working part time and will continue until the end of March.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 20/02/2009 14:12

hi everyone,

just come on for a few minutes to ask some advice.

My SPD has gotten worse. a lot worse. i'm limping a lot.

I've been to ohysio once before igot bad and got a belt and a leaflet. should i bother making anohter appointment? is there any point?

heat is the only thing making it bearable. i've got one of those microwave bags that i have permanently attached to my ass. and DH is picking up a heat pad after work.

anyway, not sure what to do. i think i'll probably need crutches. would the GP be able to do taht or doe it have to be the physio?

i'm really sorry i haven't even bothered to look through the thread the last few days. just too sore I hope everyone one is ok (and no one has popped yet!!)

Schulte · 20/02/2009 14:18

Hello there. 5am wakeup call, DD refusing to have lunchtime nap and jumping around on my tummy instead... I am knackered and fed up. She's now fallen asleep on my lap in such an awkward position that I can't even type properly and I'll have to wake her up in a moment so that tomorrow morning she sleeps longer! (Fingers crossed)

OddEyes - I have an Isofix base and just love it. You don't have to fiddle with the seatbelt at all. They are expensive though.

I have the NCT bunch coming round this afternoon for tea and cakes and to wreak havoc in our house (that's the toddlers, not the mums). One of them is bringing her new baby... wonder what DD will make of that!

PuzzleRocks · 20/02/2009 14:22

Stary - Me too.

Schulte · 20/02/2009 14:23

Oh no, purplemonkey, not another one with really bad SPD! I have no advice I am afraid - Boffin, Nutty?

BTW have to confess I weighed myself this morning and I have put on a whopping 17 kgs so far. With another 9 weeks to go I make that... wait... something like 22-23kgs altogether? Just as bad as Mila Jovovich then and I don't have her pretty face to carry it off!

staryeyed · 20/02/2009 14:24

oh good its not just me then. DP keeps looking at me disgusted I think he's going to leave me soon .

PuzzleRocks · 20/02/2009 14:29

Schulte - I have gained 15kg with 9 weeks to go. However, with DD I put on 28kg overall and it all came off before I got pregnant again (bar 1.5kg). So don't worry too much.

PuzzleRocks · 20/02/2009 14:30

Stary - When I had DD, the postnatal ward sounded like a frog chorus at night.

Schulte · 20/02/2009 14:31

Puzzle - I can't remember if you've said before, was your DD big or tiny? I am worried that this one I am breeding at the mo is going to be massive...

Schulte · 20/02/2009 14:35

Oh dear, DD didn't like being woken up but neither do I at 5 in the morning!

PuzzleRocks · 20/02/2009 14:38

She was 8lb 8.5oz, a little over 4 kgs.

Schulte · 20/02/2009 14:42

Gulp. I'll stop eating now I think.

PuzzleRocks · 20/02/2009 14:43

The placenta was a real beast too.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/02/2009 14:50

Purple -you get crutches from the physio. Sorry to hear its getting worse for you, do ask your doctor for some stronger painkillers if you are only taking paracetamol. xx ((hugs))

Staryeyed - hey good to see you yep another windbag here
