Hypatia a big hello and welcome. I haven't craved tomatos this time... it's been dairy all the way esp milk and cheddar cheese... latterly it's been hagen dazs ice cream & apparently we're having a girl this time (if the sonographer got it right). Also went through an egg phase and potatoes with everything! Not much of a craving for chocolate either... but was chocoholic while pregnant with ds.

jael i craved everything tomatoey when i was pregnant with ds last time... even to the extent i had to have tomato soup for lunch too. This doesn't sound weird or out of the ordinary to anyone but for me it was as I absolutely loathe and despise tomato soup... did before ds and then back to loathing it afterwards!! lol

Momino most haberdashery departments have bra extenders... either 2 hook high or 3 hooks high in black and white. as sausage said John Lewis always have them but even my local non chain department store habby section has them too. online figleaves do these ones and here are a few other types

sausagenmash · 18/02/2009 20:13

Wish I had funny cravings

Momino · 18/02/2009 20:17

All, thanks for the bra-extender info - i'll venture into town tomorrow to check out the haberdashery depts.

Oh, no... just realised that it's half-term and York's Viking festival - I will NOT be venturing into town.

Maybe I'll go on the NCT shop site - didn't see them in my nct catalogue - as I'm going to order the natal hypno CD (and I get 10% off since i'm an employee. every little helps ).

hypatia, I've been craving ice cream (chocolate) as well which isn't normal for me. I also crave burgers (iron?) but mainly the fast food cheeseburger kind (non-pregnant, would never touch fast food).

dandy i agree with you about the cravings... but still finding it great fun to compare.. at least none of us has been into burnt toast and coal

No word from the estate agent this afternoon as far as i know... no message on answer machine... while i was taking my mum to do her weekly food shop. Hoping for some feedback tomorrow... if i've not heard by lunch time i'll be phoning them as i can't wait to find out what they thought! Keeping fingers crossed they want to come back for a second look...

minimenace · 18/02/2009 20:57

hi all, sorry not been around for a while - just read whole thread ... phew! to catch up with everyone for a bit.

Like everyone starting to feel huge now and seems a bit more of a strain this time around. Nausea has been fairly constant and back with a vengence this week although luckily I am rarely sick. The only thing that makes the nausea feel better is a nice cold glass of coke - eek am I really bad for drinking that while pregnant ?

I did post another thread couple of nights ago because I have been getting this shooting pain across the bottom of my bump sometimes when I get up too quickly. Basically it's only if I forget and jump up out of the chair instead of pushing myself up slowly.
the other night I did it and it really made me yelp and took my breath away. I'm not sure if it's related to my C-section scar.

Does anyone know if the internal scar can be in a differen't place to the external scar ? I felt like my internal one is above the external and it may be that. Although I never had any problems with it before. must remember to mention to MW next time.

I read through all the hospital bag suggestions earlier and have made myself a nice long list - I wasn't nearly prepared enough last time and was forever phoning DH to bring things in for me and DS. Especially being in longer than expected with the C-Section. I must definately remember more biscuits and snacks this time too !!

Thing is I now have four lists - one for me, one for bump, one for DH and one for DS (to take to grandmas) - will there really be 4 hospital bags by our front door come April ? !! ?

FiKelly · 18/02/2009 21:04

you know we were talking about our hospital bags a while back... well i came across this page and looks like a good basic idea of what to start with. I had a read of their link to the first signs of labour too and seems quite comprehensive...

I can't remember who was asking about the NHS antenatal classes and video thing. Yes they did show a video of an actual birth but it wasn't the whole class... it went into the various types of pain relief/interventions/etc and i'm trying to remember what else!

FiKelly · 18/02/2009 21:08

minimenace according to the vbac leaflet the hospital gave me the scar we have on the outside is not an indication of the type of incision we have inside they have to refer to your previous notes to see what style of incision is inside... so if they need to do another CS they know what to expect. I've now got 4 lists on the go for hospital stuff too

FiKelly · 18/02/2009 21:16

BTW my tummy is doing a really good sigourney weaver alien impression this evening! hopefully she'll wear herself out and not fidget so much when i head off to bed later

daizydoo · 18/02/2009 21:30

Hi there,

So many posts! I keep meaning to post, but never get round to it, so never seem to keep up!!

Gert re your friends wedding - just make sure you've got your hospital bag and your notes in the car boot and enjoy the wedding!!

Chocolatebunnies hope you manage to sort something out. If you signed on at the job centre, is it likely that you would find a job very quickly? I was thinking that as you'd only need to sign on for a month or so and by checking for jobs and signing on you are actually fulfilling the requirements for JSA.
Hope that makes sense - I can't string a coherent sentence together at the moment, whether it be written or oral!

I sympathise with those who are feeling down at the moment, I've noticed that I've got a shorter temper and it just takes a small thing to make me feel down. I tidied the kitchen this afternoon and then made a mess whilst making fairy cakes this evening and promptly burst into tears!

I've been really suffering at nights with my SPD/PGP. It's agony turning over. I don't know how I'm going to manage another 10 weeks at work! I have to work up to almost the end to qualify for the maternity allowance.

Tomorrow is DS's 2nd birthday - I can't believe the past 2yrs have gone so quickly! He had a temperature tonight so I hope he doesn't come down with anything before his party on Sat!

FiKelly · 18/02/2009 21:44

daisy will keep fingers crossed that your ds is not coming down with anything... are you doing any kind of party in particular? Our ds was mad on the koala brothers when he turned 2 in aug so we did a koala brothers theme... i had a go at their aeroplane as his birthday cake and him and his pals decorated some aeroplane biscuits i'd made with tubes of coloured icing/sprinkles/etc. That was a bit messy but they had a ball and couldn't wait to eat their creations

minimenace · 18/02/2009 21:48

FiKelly
Thanks for the info on the scar, I thought I remembered my mw telling me afterwards that they were different.

I have an antenatal appointment at the hospital next week so will ask them about it then, hopefully they will have a copy of my notes by now from the other hospital where I had DS.

daizydoo · 18/02/2009 21:54

Fi, hadn't planned anything specific for his party. I'm too shattered to think about much, tbh its pretty much rent a crowd as we are only getting to know people in the area and the ages of the kids are between 1-4! What you did with biscuits sounds fun!!

Hope you have some positive news from the estate agents tom!

Jennster · 18/02/2009 22:20

Gosh what a busy evening. It's taken me a couple of hours just catching up with today's posts, inbetween changing dd's bedding. She's had a week dry at night, but hasn't stopped coughing all night and poor thing leaked a bit. Like mummy.

pulapula · 18/02/2009 22:20

Evening all,

If any of you ladies work in central london, hats off to you. I was down today, and the tube trains were so busy and hot - i did rush for a seat on a couple but had to stand on others and felt quite ill standing up.

At least i got to travel 1st class from sheffield, as i just dont fit in a standard airline seat if i want my table down (bump is in the way).

Anyone with a cs scar- r u feeling any tightness/soreness around your scar yet? Mine felt a bit tight last night (just on one side) but seems to be holding up well so far but guess there's a lot more stretching to do.

time for bed soon.

Jennster · 18/02/2009 22:24

Got my GTT and Anti-D tomorrow. Dh is off work and we were going to mooch in town after my GTT and have a nice lunch before going back to the hospital for the Anti-d, but looks like dd might not be in nursery.

Lazzer · 19/02/2009 10:53

Morning all,

It's weird pulapula. I work in central London and still find (at 28 weeks pg) I'm getting up for others on the tubes - I do wait a little longer to see if anyone offers their seat up - inevitably not though. Seem to do it still at least once a week, seomtimes more.

Think after 10 years of working in central London I just cannot get used to feeling that I 'deserve' the seats more than someone who is elderly / with small children / also pregnant etc! My DP thinks I'm insane...

I have been offered a seat twice since becoming pg though, which was rather nice.

FiKelly · 19/02/2009 10:56

morning

pulapula i'm aware of my cs scar only when anything i've been wearing rolls down and digs in there.. my main tight tummy area is right across the middle.. my belly button is stretching into a letter box shape!

jennster hope the gt and anti d go well

TMI alert.. i'm feeling very uncomfortable this morning.. waiting on germaloids to take effect.. i'm so desperate to have a good poo!

sausagenmash · 19/02/2009 11:00

Hello everyone.

pulapula and lazzer - am trying to avoid public transport like the plague, but a bit difficult as I get the bus to work! I always get a seat going in, but hardly ever on the way back, until the crowd on the bus starts to thin out a bit. An old man went to get up for me the other day - bless him - and I said very loudly 'No, you stay where you are, I'm sure all these other people sitting down deserve their seats more than you or me' No-one budged.

On another note, my sniffles from this week have now turned into flu. I ache from top to toe, I feel like I have a golf ball covered in broken glass lodged at the back of my throat, and I am all bunged up. We don't even have any bread in the house for comfort food marmite toast. Next week has got to be better.....

chocolatebunnies · 19/02/2009 11:15

Hi Ladies,
Had my 28week appointment this morning, a week early mind you as they midwife is fully booked up til March 13th!
Everything seems to be ok, Im really worried Im going to have a big baby this time round though, on this customised growth chart, Im hitting the top line. Whats everyone elses measurements like? Am I going to stay on the top line all the way through or will it, heaven forbid, go over it at some point? The top line indicates that this baby will be 4500g if I go 2 weeks over, that cant be right surely???

pulapula · 19/02/2009 11:19

Morning all,

I have finally taken some photos of bump for my profile (and yes I am in my pjamas ) and also added some at the bottom of me/DH on our wedding day in Barbados nearly 5 years ago (how life/looks have changed since then!).

Lazzer · 19/02/2009 11:20

It's odd. I haven't been measured once yet, no'one has ever told me which way the baby is positioned. I didn't know about all this measuremrent business til I read about it on a thread a few days ago.

I think I'm going to try and be a bit more proactive and ask about it at my next appt (monday). Does the midwife just take a tape measure to you? There's been no mention of growth charts or anything like that at either my GP or at the ante natal appts at hospital.

I wonder if it's important or if they can really be that accurate anyway?

Momino · 19/02/2009 11:24

morning all.
choc bunnies, I'm measuring big as well so MW wants to see me back in a couple of weeks so she can be sure it's 'not too big for my frame' . this is a surprise since dd1 was tiny (5lb10) and dd2 normal (7lb 7). baby does seem to be taking everything that i digest giving nothing to me. will update on 6/3.

sausagenmash, I hope you feel better. try to take it easy.

Jennster, hope appts go well. had antiD last week and it wasn't as painful as I remember the last 2 times. think i was more relaxed this time.

fi, hope good luck with the germaloids!

on a similar note, took dog on walk thismoring and noticed that long walks irritate the piles . anyone have this problem? should I be stopping my long walks? wouldn't mind an excuse, i guess. wish I could control this flare up.

re: veins, those who have aching veins/vericose especially in the upper legs, have you tried support tights or pull ups? I'm not sure if mine would fit under my jeans at the moment but not sure if I need to go to gp to get them prescribed.

Momino · 19/02/2009 11:28

pula, lovely pics. your children are gorgeous and wedding pics beautiful. I'm very jealous of your neat bump (and huge-looking bathroom!).
