Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
detsy · 16/02/2009 19:54

Oh and yes to feeling down - i've put it down to chasing a toddler and being shattered - i actually i have some days when I wonder what I've let myself in for. Days like today when working at home (with DD here) loounge is like a bomb site - every toy out of every box and DP sitting on the sofa....

FiKelly · 16/02/2009 19:55

love the bump pics detsy and see you had a little helper too

detsy · 16/02/2009 19:55

Aaaghhh re so little time to due dates - can't believe how fast it has gone!!!

FiKelly · 16/02/2009 19:57

me too... gonna have to get my tens machine organised and start (albeit v late) the vbac natal hypnotherapy...

detsy · 16/02/2009 19:59

Yes I've had my little "helper" here all day. She's feeling better!!! Needless to say done little or no work at all so will be spending this evening catching up. Off to do baths and stuff now - maybe catch you guys later x

Febes · 16/02/2009 20:16

Oh yes that reminds me I must look into tens again I used it for about 3 days with DD as I had the longest latent phase of labour.

Definately normal to get random BHs contraction from now on they are great for toning the uterus.

Sorry some of you are feeling blue. I feel really good and have done throughout this pg luckily as I was a bit depressed when pg with DD. This pg has been much easier so far I still feel quite energetic although I do feel it when I have over done it. On thursday I made biscuits with 33 year 6 kids over a 3 hour period and I was cream crackered after that.

We have booked a haven holiday for september so I hope it will be ok with a 21 months and a 4 month old. We are going to the one in north wales as recommended on Mumsnet. I've never been on a 'brit' holiday being from NZ but I'm really looking forward to it.

divedaisy - my info for the due date list:
First child, due on 3rd May.

Tummum · 16/02/2009 20:35

Evening ladies. Haven't posted in a while but not much to say. I have been feeling really low and think I might have AND... which is pretty hard to admit. I am struggling with the unplanned nature of the pregnancy and still getting used to having a boy. I just want to get off this particular bus but that isn't possible !! I am seeing the MW tomorrow to get some advice about what to do.

I have been having loads of BH since about 20 weeks. Weird aren't they?! My stomach goes rock hard and uncomfortable.

Momino · 16/02/2009 20:40

Detsy, great bump photos . I feel the same as you - can't imagine growing another 10-11 weeks (though you look like you have more room to grow than I do!).

Polony, I really liked what you said about not feeling useless - we're building a human... that is such a good point, i'll try not to forget.

Momino · 16/02/2009 20:47

tummum, I'm so sorry you're feeling down as well but very glad you're going to to see someone about AND. the most important thing is to recognise it and talk about it. support helps so much.

about the TENS, used it for 1st and 2nd labours but not sure whether to use again, whether it helped me. Fi, I too am going to look into natal hypnotherapy CDs. hope it's not too late!

llareggub · 16/02/2009 20:53

Evening!

How is everyone today? Lots of posts to read. I've just finished my last Monday at work, just tomorrow and Wednesday to go....I'm so glad to be finishing.

Polony I'm shattered at the moment too, and my DS isn't helping by giving up on sleep. He comes into us at 2.30am and sleeps very little for the rest of the evening. It doesn't help that DH gets up for work at 5.30am, which means DS thinks it is a perfectly acceptable time to go downstairs.

Fikelly I've got a stork sak bag, this one and I'm very happy with it. It isn't massive, but I didn't want a huge changing bag as I managed very well with this small bag, which was just big enough for a nappy and wipes. These days I lug around far more than a nappy and wipes for DS so though it time I upgraded to something roomier. To be honest, I'm not convinced by the need for a changing bag per se, but though the travel changing mat would be handy.

Tummum sorry to hear you are feeling down. Have you tried talking to your midwife or GP?

FiKelly · 16/02/2009 21:04

llareggub I thought about the Mia but I wasn't sure if the strap would fit over the handlebars of my bugaboo... It has the 2 thermo bottle pockets that i wanted (one for baby if BF doesn't work & one for ds beaker). I don't like big bags either.... but i like the fact there are loads of pockets for me to keep my things in and DS snacks/toy and nappies for the 2 of them... They looked very well made and I figured the free huggies one that i used with ds doesn't owe me a thing and i can't face using it as it was a PITA!

Tummum · 16/02/2009 21:07

Everyone. Thanks for your kind words. After spending all weekend in tears and leaving work early today (before I either cried again or poked someone in the eye for no apparent reason!) I have decided that it is not normal to feel this low so will speak to the (lovely) MW tomorrow. I am a bit anxious to get a depression type thing on my medical record and def. don't want work to know because I have seen others been 'judged' about having stress / depression.

Llare 2.30 !! No wonder you are feeling shattered. Can't believe that you are finishing work this week... sounds like you will need some time to catch up on sleep.

llareggub · 16/02/2009 21:15

I will definitely have time to catch up on sleep! DS is starting pre-school after half-term so I will have two whole mornings to snooooooooze. I can't wait.

FiKelly I've got the Quinny Buzz and I'm pretty sure it will fit over the handlebars. At the very least it will go in the basket underneath, so I'm not too concerned.

Tummum · 16/02/2009 21:17

Snoooozing sounds like blissssss

FiKelly · 16/02/2009 21:27

Snoozing i've forgotten what that's like! DS is due to start pre school sometime after easter... when a space becomes available. Knowing my luck it will be after our little pink one arrives!

We went on the market a week ago and today one of the estate agents phoned up to organise a viewing of our apartment on wed am. YAY! just got to keep everything crossed that they want to buy it. Would so love to be moved before #2 comes...

flippineck · 16/02/2009 21:36

Evening all! There's always so much to catch up on.

I've got my day of appointments tomorrow - gtt in the morning and antiD/antenatal in the afternoon, what a bundle of fun! It's a fasting test, the way I'm eating at the moment I feel like I might starve before the test is finished.

Plenty of BHs here too, my bump just goes hard and tight for a minute or two, but they don't hurt as such.

All this talk of snoozing is making me jealous, I'm sleeping really badly at night but not getting many opportunities to nap during the day either. The good thing about going to work (3 days a week) is that I get to sleep on the train! Only half an hour, but it all helps.

detsy · 16/02/2009 21:39

I've been very lucky and have had 2 - yes 2 snoozes today with DD - one at 10 30 for 2 hours and one at 4 for almost 2 hours. Was BRILL!! Needless to say she has only just gone to bed but she is fast asleep again now. Its amazing what a difference a good catch up on sleep makes.

I should have worked whilst I had the chance but hey some things are more important! Like my sanity...

I'm decided on the juju bag the big one and i'm hoping to get some of the additional wallets and pockety things that you can get in macthing colours.... hmm how sad am i!?

detsy · 16/02/2009 21:40

FI fingers crossed for the viewings

LoobyLou36 · 16/02/2009 22:13

Evening ladies.

Does anyone have any experience of these 'pregnancy pillows' you can buy? I am starting to have real problems getting comfortable now.

I have seen some in v shaped support pillows and the wedge sort you put under bump.

HELP - I need some advice. I don't have money to waste (still haven't been paid )

llareggub · 16/02/2009 22:21

Looby I just use a normal pillow, which I place under my bump. It worked well in my last pregnancy and seems to work well this time. Give it a try!

Tummum · 16/02/2009 22:21

I have a 'long and thin' body pillow which I hug at night and put between my knees (!) to support my SPD pelvis and I find this makes a big difference to me. They look about £20 on ebay and you can also use them for feeding afterwards.

Can't believe still no pay

LoobyLou36 · 16/02/2009 22:23

thanks llareggub will try that

detsy · 16/02/2009 22:26

Hi Looby

I find the v shaped ones fine, and sleep with mine every night. I kinda have one long side between my knees and the other one under my bump which I find really comfy. Never used a wedge as I find the v shape only is enough for me.

I've never had the long bolster or the genie pillow so can't comment on those ones

Belgianchocolates · 16/02/2009 22:34

Good evening all,

Well, I think I've been getting Braxton Hicks too. I didn't with the other pregnancies, but this time around my tummy seems to go tight every so often, especially when I've been walking around a lot.

I use one of those travel pillows between my legs. I tried one of those long pillows once, but I can't stand hugging things in my sleep and it keeps me from cuddling up to DH when he's home too. My bump generally doesn't bother me all that much anyway.

llaregubb you've just reminded me: I've just worked my last monday too and a nice monday it was too, not too busy.

detsy another lovely round bump! I know about not knowing what you'll be like by 40 weeks. Though I'm hoping not to see week 40. I'm planning to go into labour at 38 weeks

I sent my grant form off on fri. You'll have to remind your mw. I'd forgotten and it was only as I walked past the poster that the MCA in the room remembered to ask. I suppose it's because it's new and she's not used to it yet. Once you've got the form you do need to send it within 28 days or you need to get a new one. I have no idea why that is.
