Ok so I'll start it off.

Has anyone else had a huge increase in discharge? It's gone from clear and not too much to thick and white, and copious amounts.

Laumiere , yes, that is a lovely name. Her middle name will probably be Kristina though as that is my Mum's name and my middle name and they sound quite similar!

I love Asta, which is short for Astrid. DP isn't convinced though

Are period type pains a sign of labour or can tey be 'normal'? That's why I was in hospital all day yesterday because I have been having period type pain for the past three days and backache and it's separate to what I assume are BHs which are more just a tightening.

They sent me home at 5 though after attaching me to a machine for 6 hours and said to come back if it gets worse. Not feeling too great today to be honest.

Hope you are ok. Gabriel is my favourite boy's name ever (and also quite Scanders) - I think Gabe is such a lovely shortening.

Wheelybug · 05/02/2009 15:19

Hi All !

Welcome Kanga and respect on number 5 (or at any rate, having gone through pregnancy 5 times...).

Loving all the names - I love Alex for boy or girl but have a nephew Alex so out of the window. Actually lots of the names mentioned are ones I love but we can't/don't want to use because they are children of rellies or close friends. We're having a bit of a hard time on names. We've sort of got girl's names down to 3 but I really like one (Eliza) and DH really likes one (Isla) and then there's another one (Lara) (so really, in all honesty, its between my name and DH's name). Middle name is agreed on Florence for DH's great grandmother. Boys, we're also having difficulty deciding but I siuspect it will be Jacob William. Defintely William for middle name as it was DH's dad's middle name (DD has my mum and grandmother's middle name although a slight variation). Or it might be Toby. I keep re-reading the name book in the hope another name I haven't seen before pops up but I don't think its going to happen.

Laumiere and Millie - hope things are ok. Looking on the bright side you are both at pretty good gestations should labour kick off for either of you.

If the fairies are done - can someone send them over here to mend my kitchen tap ??

Wheelybug · 05/02/2009 15:22

ooh another thing - I spoke to a reflexologist yesterday about booking in some reflexology in the 3 weeks leading up to due date in the hope it sends me into natural labour (had previous early c-sec). Thought anything was worth a go !!

superjump · 05/02/2009 15:26

Hi

Am I too late to join in? Expecting DS2 8th March, am 35, living in North London. Looking forward to seeing the birth stories start up!

Wheelybug · 05/02/2009 15:45

Welcome Superjump

On the subject of paternity leave - I'm hoping DH will take 2 weeks. Had orginally planned for him to take 3 weeks if I end up having a c-sec but as he's been off sick for the last 5 months and he's still only going in part time I think I'll be lucky if he feels able to take 2 weeks !! At least he can work from home if necessary....

honey123 · 05/02/2009 16:29

Boobz · 05/02/2009 17:20

House is clean (no thanks to any fairies) and now I feel like I'm sitting in a vice. Have taken off bra and tight wrap top and am sitting here in one of DH's work shirts and it still feels like someone is hugging my ribs.

And have got pain in my upper middle back (not right at the top, kind of below the shoulder blades).

All normal I expect? Can I take anything for it? Paracetamol?

Welcome late comers - have you been lurking all this time?

Love Lara and Eliza for names (too many Islas about at the mo, IMHO).

xxx

Wheelybug · 05/02/2009 17:27

welcome too honey !

Am awaiting the fairies knocking at my door (probably get here before the blardy plumber rings).

Boobz - that's what puts me off Isla. I think its a really lovely name but suddenly its become v. fashionable which is worse IMO than a classic, popular name. DH is pretty set on it though but he did say that Eliza was still on the shortlist (and I thought he'd discarded it out of hand) !

You can take paracetemol no probs - you've probably overdone it with the cleaning (tis bad for you, you know...)

kanga5 · 05/02/2009 17:28

I'm finding the snow and ice a problem too and I can't understand why they don't de-ice it on the paths outside school. My ds have slipped over on their bums a few times and I am trying not to as well.

My DH is also from a family of 5, and I'm from 3, so I guess we were destined for it ourselves...can't remember their names sometimes, but that might be the pregnancy fog going on in my brain.

kanga5 · 05/02/2009 17:41

boobz I get backache if I do so much housework, or work in the garden, then sit down for a bit, then I can't move. The answer: keep doing housework til bedtime, or not do it at all!!! Try a nice warm bath maybe? paracetamol is fine, but as always if you don't feel right then call your midwife for advice. I once had blurry vision and she told me to take paracetamol and rest.

LOL at the MN fairies!

Oh MKG for the purposes of the list I'm 28, will be 29 on 31 March. People keep asking me what I want for my birthday: SLEEEP!

I've definitely hit the 'uncomfortable' stage now, spent the whole night fidgeting. Cramps passed though, I think Danger dropped and made my muscles complain at the extra effort.

Childfree friends also making me laugh at the moment, one couple said 'ooh you must come see Waiting for Godot with us (Stewart and McKellen), it's early April' and I had to point out I'd be hopefully BFing by then and DS2 might not take EBM by then. It's like 'oh, you've given birth, back to normal then!'

MKG · 05/02/2009 22:27

Hi everyone!

As far as paternity goes dh will get none. I was lucky he found the time to pick me up fromt he hospital last time. He picked me up, took us home and went back to work.

That's fine though. He just gets in the way of my getting into a groove.

Just found out my sister is coming to see us after the baby is born. I'm so happy, I haven't seen her since August.

Welcome to honey and superjump!

Welcome to the newbies honey and superjump.

Love all the name ideas, still have a good idea what at least one of our daughters names will be, but just waiting to see if it suits her before telling everyone.

I know I am going to sound stupid but what is the raspberry tea for?

Kitchen cleaning is today's job, argggh, not really looking forward to it, but I doubt that it will get done once the baby is here. And the microwave and cooker are filthy.

Slickbird · 06/02/2009 09:02

Welcome, yet more, newbies!!

My 17 month old is currently under the table wiping the rug with a cloth saying "Good Girrr, Good Girr!". She's my cleaning fairy!

I was awake half the night again last night - so annoying.

Our friend and neighbour has a wee girl called Eliza Rose which I think is just lovely. I also love Isla - although there aren't actually any/many around here. But I've got an Eilidh and it's too similar. I'm also meant to be having a boy!

We're thinking Nicholas. There doesn't actually seem to be many of them around at the moment. We also like Jason, but think Nicholas is winning.

lizziemun · 06/02/2009 09:41

God i HATE snow. I won't it to go away.

DD1 school has only opened one day this week. I've got so much to do but can not get on with anything. As dd1 & 2 keep bickering, DH is working from home because he can get to work.

I want 5 mins peace and quite.

Anyway enough of my moaning. have a nice day.

I be back on later i'm going to try and do bits and pieces.

Jollyjoanne Rasperry leaf tea is supposed to help relax and soften everything in prep for labour, fingers crossed ill give anything a go!

have posted a pic of bump with 6 weeks to go!

livismum · 06/02/2009 10:16

Ooh posted at the same time! much better explanation than mine Lol! xx

laumiere · 06/02/2009 10:27

TheFearlessFreak there was a song that went
'They called me the Wild Rose, but my name was Eliza Day, why they call me that I do not know, but my name was Eliza Day'.

It starred Kylie in the video and is about a man wooing a woman, taking her down to the river (by a wild rose bed) and bashing her head in with a rock. Caused a bit of fuss back in its day.

laweaselmys · 06/02/2009 10:38

Hi all!

Well it's snowing here again, school is open for the minute - but I'm waiting to see if they'll decide to close at midday (lots of them seem to be)

On the other hand we're going into the weekend with one less disaster on our hands than we started with - our washing machine works!!! YAYYYY. Two weeks of trudging to my parents place and camping out there to use their machine was driving me crazy. Slightly embarrassingly it was really easy to fix and the engineer talked me through it on the phone!
