Ok so I'll start it off.

Has anyone else had a huge increase in discharge? It's gone from clear and not too much to thick and white, and copious amounts.

Nadsinoz · 16/02/2009 05:15

Hi.

I have been on another thread and MKG suggested to join this one. I am 37 weeks preg with 3rd baby in 3 years. I am due March 11, but hopefully Drs will induce me next week. I have feral veins in the fanjo, pelvis pain, blah blah blah.

For the past couple of days I have had a very light pink/brown discharge, pelvis, cervix and lower back pain and just generally felling crap. I am just waiting for a mumsnetter to say THIS IS IT.... IT YOUR TURN NOW !!

twocutedarlings · 16/02/2009 07:58

Morning all,

Welcome Nadsinoz Its certainly sounds like you having a show fingers crossed this it and there will be no need for the induction.

MKG I have also been feeling like this is it load of strong BHs hear too, i dont remember actually feeling this ready with my girls IYKWIM, this pg has defo been harder lots more aches and pains than the first two. I sometimes wonder if it natures way of saying this it no more babies for you girl .

I have planned so much for the girls this week that if this baby doesnt come this week i will be very but ive not told the girls our plans, so i will just play it on a day by day basis.

babyinbelly · 16/02/2009 08:49

Welcome to Nadsinoz. Titmouse Originally my level was 7.7 a week later it was 7.9 That was the 2nd of feb. I was taking iron tablets right up to having infusion on thursday but they didn't recheck my levels at that stage.

The original plan as far as my GP was concerned was to recheck this week before my 38week check up so I am going to do that anyway. If they are still very low I might give infusion another go but I have started tablets (ferrous fumerate) 3 times a day again so hopefully have had enough of a boost by now!

Someone earlier on said something natural you could get from Holland and Barrett. Dont know if that was on this thread or last one but might be worth checking out if you can.

MKG I have been feeling a bit like that too. Tight belly and feel a bit weird but no show or anything else to indicate on its way. DP does not want a Feb baby anyway so looks like I have to hang on a while!

Hope everyone has a good day today.

jollyjoanne · 16/02/2009 08:51

Flannel love the photos Bettie is sooo cute and soooo incredibly tiny.

Aunty good luck for your trip to the consultant hopefully it will all work out.

Welcome Nadsinoz. Can't believe how our numbers have been swelling in the last few weeks.

Morning to all those who are starting their maternity leave this week.

Also been suffering with more BH than normal, but still not painful and no show so I think I will be hanging in their for the time being, unlike some of you who sound like you could turn out to be Feb babes rather than March.

Supposedly cleaning the cooker this afternoon - how good am I. I let you know if I actually do it later!

titmouse · 16/02/2009 09:19

I've been dropped off the list again!! Shall I start to take it personally

thanks bib I've heard Floradix mentioned so might give it a go, have to go to the doctors to pick up another prescription this morning anyway. They gave me ferrous sulphate but maybe ferrous fumerate might be better.
Or I might just resort to licking fences at the park.

babyinbelly · 16/02/2009 09:33

Whats your level titmouse?

Boobz · 16/02/2009 09:47

How do people drop off lists? I don't understand it...

hello all! First day on mat leave today - wooo! Lots of jobs like boring old Sainsbury's and post office etc, but god is it nice not to have to switch on my work email and start fighting through the BS that is my work 99% of the time.

I am training my dog at the moment, and she is on a long lead for 5 weeks to encourage recall. I took her out yesterday and managed to tangle myself up in the lead and fell over on my side It wasn't a hard bump and the baby has been moving as normal, no pain and no blood or anything, so have decided I don't need to worry or have a scan, but how hard do you think I would need to fall to do damage that warranted a scan? I put my hands out to stop me, so it wasn't a proper fall and I was laughing as I did it as I felt so stupid getting all tangled up, but now I have that niggling feeling you know?

Did anyone else fall over during their pregnancy and do anything about it?

titmouse · 16/02/2009 09:49

it was 9.6 last time, hoping to find out what it is now when I go this morning. I got the impression that 9.6 wasn't too bad, I'd understand if it was around 7 like yours, but it had dropped from 12.5 when I was about 8 weeks. I actually wasn't too concerned until last week when the MW was saying she thought it was very low and I might not be suitable for a home birth.

Has yours always been low, bib, or has it dropped in the 3rd trimester?

titmouse · 16/02/2009 09:50

boobz I dunno, maybe I am not meant to be on the March list ha ha

Flannelcat OMG! Tear to a glass eye!! Soooo tiny and cuuuuuuuttte!

Boobz If it's any consolation, I too wake up (when I am lucky enough to fall asleep) dribbling. I mean, what is that all about??

I just had a call from my original MW saying that the dynamo has to cancel as she's been up all night with a HB so I am going to the clinic to see my first MW and she will take my bloods. This platelet business is really starting to worry me. Hope my levels are roughly the same and not down.

Won't know for a couple of days tho.

Hope you're all well.

goldmother2b · 16/02/2009 12:56

Hello all.

Flannelcat - Bettie brought a tear to my eye too - she is so scrummy!

No sign of any show for me either, and my induction is 2 weeks today....have been frantically downing the RLT, suggesting to my DH that I would like lots of sex (unfortunately he has not been forthcoming - no pun inteneded )

Off to see my GP this afternoon - originally booked the appt for my scarily out of control piles situation - nothing is helping and they are getting bigger and more numerous by the day - sorry if TMI! - But am concerned that my blood pressure may have gone up over the weekend - hands are swollen and seem to have blood pooling in my legs and feet - they are red and mottled but after a quick rub from DH they return to normal pale and pasty look. Am wearing flight socks at the moment - think that's probably a bit paranoid, but you never know...

CaptainKarvol · 16/02/2009 13:33

Hi all, just dropping in

Flannelcat those are gorgeous pics, especially the 2 girls together. Just lovely.

Re the sterilising baby stuff, I'm sure there was a whole load on MN a year or so ago about this, with UK microbiologists saying no need to sterilise. If I find anything I'll post a link. I could never get my head around needing to sterilise bottles, but freezing breast milk in plastic bags straight off the roll (heaven knows how unclean plastic bag factories are!)

Goldmother I hope you're ok. The piles are a menace, aren't they? I had nightmarish internal ones last time, they were utter agony. This time, I just have the unsightly type, and they are only occasionally painful (so far)... My hands and feet are getting more swollen too. I've had to take my wedding ring off now. But last time I was at this stage by half way through the pg, so I think this close to the end it's probably just one of those things.

Have we many homebirths plannned?

I had my birth kit dropped off last week. Very disappointed that all the gory stuff (catheters, forceps etc) is wrapped in paper inside the sterile plastic bags, so I can't have a good nosey at it all. Only so much interest to be gained from maternity pads, cardboard dishes and latex gloves... DH thinks the plastic lidded bucked for disposal of the placenta is gross!

auntyspan · 16/02/2009 13:44

Hello ladies!

All went v well at the consultant appointment this morning and I have my section date - 3rd March. I'll be 5 days off term so I'm happy with that... now I have exactly a fortnight to get myself sorted!

I didn't have to convince anyone thankfully.... I explained my reasons and the consultant agreed that chances are I'm having another big baby and an induction before term would still end up with a probably c-section. So all is well!

EllieorOllie · 16/02/2009 14:04

Hi ladies

Glad everyone is tolerably well, although the piles situation sounds like a nightmare. I've never had them, thank goodness, coudn't be doing with that as well as the SPD.

Have finally started my systematic cleaning plan. Was nesting very haphazardly before, but have organised myself enough to plan a 'room-a-day' spring clean. Having a little sit down now to recover.

I'm having a bit a fret about the birth now. Well actually it's more to do with DD's birth. I talked through my birth plan with my midwife at my appt on Saturday and she insisted that I tell her why I had specifically said no skin-to-skin straight after birth. Completely understand why she was a bit but i do have my reasons! In short, DD was placed on my chest by the obstretrician without him actually looking at her. So I was there with a bluey-purple completely lifeless baby on my chest shrieking 'Someone do something, it's not breathing, help me, help me'. Not a great experience. Midwife was very understanding and even highlighted my no immediate skin-to-skin request in my notes but now i'm having nasty dreams and semi-waking flashbacks to DDs birth. I was doing so well with the denial approach until now!! So I've gone from being calm and chilled about the forthcoming birth to completely freaking out. Makes me want to vomit when I think about it. Finding it really hard to talk to DH about it, despite the fact that he was there last time. He doesn't even remember them resusitating her. Hopeless...

btw DD had no lasting probs and didn't even have to go the SCBU in the end. just to reassure you!! the outcome's not helping my mental state though...

Does anybody else have to go see the HV pre-birth? I got a rather snooty summoning letter telling me I had an appointment with mine tomorrow.

What am I supposed to take? Obviously there is no baby yet to distract them with!

Birth plan maybe? Sorry I'm a bit about the whole thing, but I have a midwife appointment in 2 days anyway and I can't think of anything I need to discuss. Feels a bit like I am just going to turn up say hello and be sent home again. Bit boring really!

EllieorOllie · 16/02/2009 15:02

law i think it's so that you can start to build up a relationship with them prior to the birth. lots of people have misconceptions about the role of health visitors, ie they're irritating busybodies who come to check up on you and report you to social services if you don't live up to their standards.

some health authorities do the pre-birth visit, some don't. my health visitors are absolutely lovely so I'm more than happy to go for a chat with them. guess it's up to you whether you go or not...

firstduemarch09 · 16/02/2009 15:05

Hi everyone.
Very jealous of those already on mat leave. I'm struggling to concentrate on working from home! Finish on Friday.
Started to pack bags last night. Post labour bag done, just labour bag to do - can't help thinking thats the wrong way around!

Fannelcat Great photos - glad things are going so well.

Over the weekend I had a numb area to the left of my belly button where LOs feet are(about the size of an apple), its gone today but it was a bit of a worry. Anyone else had the same thing?

laweaselmys · 16/02/2009 15:20

I think the letter just put me out, It was very abrupt to say the least.

I will dutifully toddle up the hill to the hospital and go and give them a chance, hopefully they will be extra lovely and I will feel bad about having been so annoyed!

titmouse · 16/02/2009 15:57

twocute don't worry I couldn't seem to stay on the list in the last thread either!

bib got my ferrous fumerate stuff and HB has dropped from 9.6 to 9.4 in 3 weeks despite regular spatone, sporadic iron pills and all the right foods. what's the baby doing in there for goodness sakes! making horseshoes?

babyinbelly · 16/02/2009 16:19

Last time I had mine checked prior to being that low was at booking appt at 10weeks and it was about 10. They were supposed to take more blood at 28week appt but MW was an hour late and couldn't be bothered so not checked until 34weeks!

I think 9-10 is within normal range but they like it to be 11-12 for labour incase you lose a lot of blood.

In my last pregnancy I went down to 8.2 at about the same stage and they were a bit concerned but stuck me on iron tablets and forgot about it.

Got appt now for weds to have repeat bloods so will let you know!

twocutedarlings · 16/02/2009 16:44

Captain I am planning a HB my MW dropped off my HB kit at 37weeks but i dont have anything in it that you have in yours all i have is the boring bits. I dont have any forceps or catheters ect obviously i wont need them lol, but i guess you never know!! i dont have anything for the placenta (i guess they must just bung it in bag). Basically my HB KIT is a big pink plastic bag and in it are the contents of what my MW has managed to raid from the cupboards on the delivery ward. I do have drugs in my fridge though! stuff to deliver placenta (if needed) Vit K, stuff if i bleed heavily, and something else??. I wonder the MWs bring the gory stuff with them?

EllieorOllie I totally understand the no skin to skin, it sounds like you had a similar experience with your dd as i did with dd1, again at this late state in our PGs i wont got into detail. In my birth plan for DD2 i asked that they ensured she was either breathing or crying before they passed her to me for skin to skin, as it happens things didnt go according to plan (DD2 was an unplanned HB) but she was crying her lungs out before i even delivered her body LOL .

aunty glad it went well with consultant, you must be relived to get that sorted.

MKG · 16/02/2009 17:01

Hi all. Well with as terrible as I felt yesterday, I finally put the bags in the car a few minutes ago. I'm all set and ready to go.
I am not looking forward to going to work tonight, but it's ok. It's presidents day so technically a holiday we always get the crazies on holidays.
