Ok so I'll start it off.

Has anyone else had a huge increase in discharge? It's gone from clear and not too much to thick and white, and copious amounts.

Me again - just spoke to DAU and my urine sample was fine on further analysis. Apparently the protein level needs to be under 30 and it was 11.1 so breathing a sigh of relief here.

Will see what they say tomorrow !

Boobz · 12/02/2009 16:25

No fair meep! You didn't leave it on long enough!

meep · 12/02/2009 16:53

sorry - will post it again later - have just started a bf thread and didn't want lots of starangers taking a peek !

laumiere · 12/02/2009 17:25

Joining in the bump-fest, have posted a picture of me from last week (and one of my face!).

DH now doesn't like any of the names we shortlisted, woe!

My preferences:
Adam
Alexander
Benjamin
Damien
Daniel
Darien
Elijah
Euan
Gabriel
Geraint
Get hin
Ieuan
Kieran
Laurence
Luis
Samuel
Sean
Stephen
William
Zachary

At the moment Gethin and Kieran are winning for me!

Boobz · 12/02/2009 18:59

Nice bump L!

From those I think these are the best: Alexander, Benjamin, Gabriel and Zachary. In fact Zachary is the front runner for a boy for us!

titmouse · 12/02/2009 19:02

Anybody else had a false alarm and all the hallmarks of labour yet? Last night was horrendous. Spent some time at the labour ward being monitored but it turns out all is well and no baby came out.
If that was just a practice one I am now shitting myself apprehensive about how much the real thing is going to hurt!

Boobz · 12/02/2009 19:16

what were the signs? Painful contractions?

Noodle07 · 12/02/2009 19:31

Anyone got any tips on helping bring labour on after 37/38weeks so not to be induced?

At our NCT classes last time round they suggested:

  • raspberry leaf tea
  • pineapple
  • curries
  • sex
  • long walks

I found that labour started after I had a bubble bath which contained clary sage. I had no idea at the time you were supposed to avoid it, but labour started within 12 hrs!

Also baby is posterior at the mo, anyone got tips on how to change that?

Thanks

goldmother2b · 12/02/2009 19:46

Noodle - I asked the same question of my midwife this week, as my induction is booked for 39+6 - her answer was sex, sex and more sex. The hormones in sperm are the same as in the gel that they insert to start the cervix softening and dilating. She also said to eat pineapple and drink RLT but that sex is the best option!

To move baby from the posterior you need to spend time with your bump hanging down, e.g on hands and knees. This is because the spine of baby is heavier and gravity will help turn her/him. Try not to sleep on your back for the same reason.

Good luck!

laumiere · 12/02/2009 19:47

Noodle, my little one keeps going posterior, MW advised:

  • brisk walking
  • hula-hooping movements (a lot easier if you have a Wii Fit)
  • scrubbing the floor on hands and knees
  • lying on your left side
  • waggling on a birth ball.

Boobz I like Gabriel, Kieran, Darien, Gethin and William most.

titmouse · 12/02/2009 19:50

boobz I was having painful contractions and trying to time them (bearing in mind I was on the bus going home from work and then trying to get through the town centre) about 5 mins apart at their most frequent, very heavy feeling in pelvis. This is my first so relatively clueless but definitely glad I went to the hospital cos the whole thing was frightening. Plus I live in a city where you can literally faint with pain outside a shop and nobody asks if you are ok so now I will make sure I never leave the house on my own again!!

Only one more day of work - oh yes baby!

Am 36 weeks on Monday. Things I still need to do during next 4 week of maternity leave:

-- Pack (in-case) hospital bag (have made list)
-- Buy homebirth stuff (again, have made list and got most things, just need non-slip sheets / tens machine)
-- Clean rugs / scrub house from top to bottom
-- Make and freeze meals
-- Fix DH's camera
-- Hair cut / wax / maincure / pedicure / massage
-- Active yoga birth class for me and DH

And lots of cinema, seeing friends, reading books and dog walking / bouncing on balls.

And sex. DH needs sex. And it's supposed to get the baby out on time.

jollyjoanne · 13/02/2009 09:07

Not thinking about getting the baby out yet, still not convinced I am mentally ready for it. But give it a few weeks and I'll be gulping down the tea, eating tons of curry and demanding sex - well if we can find a position that doesn't feel to weird.

I liked most of the boys names suggested although haven't had to give much thought to boy names as were having a girl, but one of the names is my husband and another is my grandads name which I did really like if we were having a boy.

Only name I'd avoid is any vairant on lewis, as everyone I know seems to have a little boy called that and you can't move in the local shops for someone shouting at a little lad called lewis.

titchy77 · 13/02/2009 09:26

Morning all,
Went for my scan yesterday and the baby hasn't grown since my last one at 32 weeks so they have moved my induction forward to 23rd feb ,will be 36 weeks and have to go in every other day for a ctg, have a scan next thurs and if the fluid around the baby has reduced or the dopplers aren't satisfactory then they may induce me that night. Feeling quite scared and hope it all is going to be o.k and very disorganised, I haven't got a thing ready and don't know how I'm going to get it all done in 10 days as well as going into hospital every other day! Will be trying some of the things to get my cervix ready for labour as want to avoid a c/s if possible, does anyone know where I can get RLT from??
Wheelybug-Hope your scan is o.k today and that your blood pressure has settled.

Noodle07 · 13/02/2009 09:30

Titchy77 - hope things improve for you. YOu can buy rlt from most healthfood shops. Some people thing that taking the tablet form is better than tea - I'm not sure either way. Last time I drank the tea, I don't think it tastes too bad.

Good luck

auntyspan · 13/02/2009 11:24

Ladies - anyone else noticed a decrease in movement recently? I'm just coming up to 37 weeks and the last couple of days bump has been VERY quiet, the odd kick etc but not a patch on what I'm used too. Do you think she's just running out of room?

I have a doppler and the heartbeat still sounds OK.... I'm panicking unneccessarily aren't I?!

Titchy - great you're being watched so carefully - hope things improve and you feel a bit more organised soon.

MKG · 13/02/2009 12:27

Titchy- I hope all is ok. Try not to worry. Everything will get done.

Aunty- I've noticed a decrease in movements, well more of a change in them really. I get less alien type of squirming and more hiccups, especially after I eat.

I'm worried about babyinbelly I hope her procedure went well. I have a feeling she's holding her baby now though.

twocutedarlings · 13/02/2009 12:46

Hi girls,

Tichy hope all all goes well for you, i am sure it will!! by the sounds of it the standard of care you are getting is excellant!

Aunty i have noticed a change in movements, i am not so much getting less, but they are differant IYSWIM - just remember the 10 movement rule thingy and get yourself checked if you not getting 10 separate lots/sets of movements.

MKG I am also thinking the same about babyinbelly i have just looked at list and ive worked out the she is about 36/37 weeks so fingers crossed all should have worked out just fine!!

COME ON BABY LET US KNOW THE OUTCOME!! .

Last day of school for a week today, so i am just sat down planning some activities for next week, dont know how i am going to manage it thought, i am so tired and my SPD is playing up BIG!! time!! so sleep is almost impossible, i am so ready (today anyhow LOL) for this baby to be born, its untrue!

The whole HB stuff is starting to be a pain, i am scared to even leave a toy or a cup out of place just in case i go into labour, mind you am considering leaving the dinner dishes in the sink tonight...........thats bound to kick things off LOL .

laweaselmys · 13/02/2009 12:51

Titchy - good luck! Hope everything goes well.

It's my last day at work today - I went to the toyshop and bought some new toys for the kid... moi, nesting? noooo...

titchy77 · 13/02/2009 14:17

Bib hope all is well.
Has anyone heard from emma2617 noticed she hasn't been on for a while.

Wheelybug · 13/02/2009 14:28

oh arse I just spent ages writing a long post and lost it. Try again -

Titchy - sorry to hear your news, it must be a worry. I remember being in a similar position last time when dd didn't grow from one scan to the next and then they whipped me in immediately to induce me. I hope you get everything done you need to (is there stuff that doesn't need to be done although you'd like it done ?).

BiB - hope all is going ok....

Aunty - I've had a change in movements, less great big ones, more smaller ones - definitely lots of hiccups. Although I do get a lot of lumps sticking out of me and this morning i felt a lump (knee, elbow ??) move across my tummy which was very freaky.

I had my 36 week growth scan today and check up. All fine. The baby is now estimated to be almost a pound bigger than dd was at birth. My BP was ok (not great but ok) and no protein (thanks to MKG - I guzzled water like mad since yesterday which I think helped). They want to see me weekly from now on just to check but that's fine by me. Still so far on for VBAC although the (young, presumably fairly junior) doctor did squirm when I asked about going in the MW led unit. He basically said no but said if all was ok on the day i might be allowed. He confirmed that they wouldn't give me an epidural 'just in case it goes to c-sec' as the idiot doctor told me last time so that was something !!

twocutedarlings · 13/02/2009 14:28

titchy Emma posted about a week ago, she has limited internet since she started her maternity leave .

law that aint nesting lol you should be taking toys to the charity shop!! or at least thats what ive been doing

auntyspan · 13/02/2009 15:05

Wheelybug one thing from your previous posts - you were wondering why they were insisting on putting in a canula as a precaution? Without going into details, a friend of mine went for a VBAC and she had requested not to have a cannula - eventually she did need another c-section and they didn't have time to put one in as everything changed so rapidly - so she ended up with a GA. They tried to get a line in but her BP was so low her vein kept collapsing. I think it's a wise precaution to have one in?

Glad the doc was a bit more flexible today... an epidural as a precaution sounds a tad OTT to me!

Thanks for all the replies re:movements. Bump is having a slightly more active afternoon, possibly due to the large coffee I had before lunch, possibly due to the paint fumes coming from the nursery! !

laumiere · 13/02/2009 15:07

Hmmm I don't think we've had any hiccups at all here, should I be worried? (37 weeks on Tues)
