Thanks I thought it would be really difficult to start a new one and silly me it couldn't be simpler.

I am luckier this time round with dd i never saw the same midwife twice this time i have seen the same person at the gp's surgery every time.

VirtualFairy · 15/04/2005 11:35

wow i am am impressed that people give you a seat on the tube i don't think im showing enough yet to look pregnant so no seats for me on tube

is there anyone else that is not showing yet? i am feeling worried - i only just told my friends from university and they see me everyday and did not notice at all, they were quite shocked when i told them that i was 18 weeks! its not like i have any belly muscles either as after my 2 previous kids my muscles never cam back i only look pregnant when i need a wee.

Kiwifruit · 15/04/2005 11:45

Virtual Fairy - I'm only 16 weeks, and this is my first, so probably shouldn't be showing at all. Hate to think what I'll look like at 38 weeks ! And what I'll look like when pg with number 2... Did I just say number 2?? That is if number 1 doesn't put me off completely!!

Sallie · 15/04/2005 11:47

Whether or not I look pregnant depends on what clothes I am wearing, but am getting a bump now and lots of movement too from the little one which is nice. Am also 18 wks and looking forward to my second scan on 29 April - definitely going to find out what we are having - this is no 3. DS (no 1) desperately wants a girl!!!! DD is too young to express her preference.
Have been offered a seat on the tube this week - the big giveaway was the pregnancy book I was reading! Always good for giving people that extra hint if they aren't quite sure .
Not sleeping that well at the moment - probably due to worry over not finding a nice house to move to and also have restless legs. Am getting up once or twice in the night too to empty my bladder. Just waiting for the heartburn and rib pain to start now . On a happier note, am finishing work on 24 May so not that long to go now, especially as have week of 2 May off as annual leave

Kiwifruit · 15/04/2005 12:08

Sallie - am sooo jealous that you're finishing work . My head really isn't in the office these days, but we're saving to take lots of cash back to NZ so we can buy a house, so stopping work isn't an option at the moment . Hopefully it will all be worth it in the end though... Still, hope to finish at the end of August and use up my remaining annual leave for September. That's only 5 and a bit months away, and the rate the weeks are disappearing at the moment, we'll be there in no time

Sallie · 15/04/2005 12:10

...sadly am having to return to work though, for financial reasons. Probably will take a year this time - only took 6 months with ds and 8 months with dd.

Kiwifruit · 15/04/2005 12:14

OH, me too - am quite sure that any visions I have of being a lady of leisure will be dashed as soon as we have a mortgage to pay!! Am planning on finding a new line of work though, as really hate what I'm doing at the moment (thankfully the people I work with are great, which makes it bearable).
That is unless we win the lottery this weekend...

diane77 · 15/04/2005 13:15

hi all
havent been here for ages as dd ill and then decided to share it with me!
im 2 days off 20 weeks yipee half way there!!
It seems to be going so quickly this time, ive put that down to the fact that dd has hit terrible 2s with avengence shes only 20 months.
Bought my self a double pram buggy thing this wek as i was petrified that when no2 comes along i wont be able to get out the house. Its 2nd hand but in immaculate condition. just have to find someone who will store it for us until september.

Katts · 15/04/2005 14:24

Just wanted to say Hi. I've been lurking but haven't posted yet. I'm 17 weeks along, due 21 September (although I think it will be at least a week later than that), and planning on having it at UCH. I already have a big ole belly - despite this being my first - but that's probably because i was eating like a pig for the first 2 months. Anyway, nice to meet you all! Hope to hear more from you all over the next few months.

Piccalilli · 15/04/2005 14:47

Hi Katts - you're due a couple of days before me! I've got quite a big bump as well but I was a bit of a podge before I got pregnant and ate like a pig for the first three months so it's probably more cake than baby.

Katts · 15/04/2005 15:47

Hi Picallili! So where are you giving birth? Sorry if you've said previously, can't remember. Did you eat to keep the nausea away in the first 3 months too? I just went totally loopy everytime my blood sugar fell so ended up eating lots of bread and pasta constantly.Gained 4 kilos by 12 weeks and have been too scared to get back on the scale since then.

pooka · 15/04/2005 15:50

Congratulations Katts
If you look on the September stats thread you'll see where eveyone else is at.
Feeling shattered today. Just had major afternoon nap battle with dd, which is unusual, but she has got a stinking cold. Time to go and wake her up again, actually. Here we go again!

franch · 15/04/2005 16:14

Hi Katts, good to see you here As I think I said on another thread we were on, I'm using UCH too, although for a homebirth hopefully. Do add yourself to the stats thread.

diane, what double buggy did you get? I'm currently torn between the Phil & Ted's and the Marco Sky - really need to go to a shop and try them out but have no idea where sells them - don't think anywhere sells both.

diane77 · 15/04/2005 17:35

my buggy is a graco stadium duo its a tandem type so dd sits at front and wee one lies behind, its a bit long but im sure it will do the job. the person i got it from said she had no problems with it

Kiwifruit · 15/04/2005 17:55

Hi Katt - I'm due on 26th Sept and am in the process of trying to transfer to UCH from St Marys (GP has reluctantly said he will write a letter requesting it - whether he does or not remains to be seen!).
I did a lot of anti-nausea eating in the first couple of months (I describe it as that eating you do when you have a hangover ). Refuse to get on the scales - hate to think what the damage is...

Boompi · 15/04/2005 18:43

Hi Katts

My bump has really popped out this week (20 weeks next mon) Havent put on much weight overall as lost weight in first trimester. Was a bit overweight before anyhow so not too worried re weight gain.

Boompi · 15/04/2005 18:44

I meant lack of weight gain!!

mummyhill · 16/04/2005 10:28

Hi all and welcome to katts.

Sorry about the cat piccallili i would be devastated if any thing happened to mine we have had him for 5 years, rescued him from being put down by a family who thought that would be the humane thing to do rather than rehome him after it became apparent they would have to get rid of him cause the kids were allergic to him.

Had my anomily scan yesterday, everything is ok. DD loved it and kept waving to the monitor every time she saw junior waving. Still don't know what it will be so am waiting for a nice supprise in September.

My personal pregnancy hate has started already!! Why is it that everyone thinks that as soon as they see a bump your belly is communal property and they can come up and lay their hands on it? Drives me insane i am very protective of my personal space as had some bad experiences when i was in my early teens and i am even worse when pregnant. I turning round and saying do you mind and get a no why in reply well i do is my simple answer. The only people i feel comfortable touching my bump are close family ie hubby and dd maybe my mum and medical professionals who have to to assess fundal height etc. It's not so bad if it is someone i know quite well and they ask first. But a lot of the culprits are complete strangers who have come up and touched me and asked how much longer do i have to go is it my first etc etc, why can't they leave me alone. Ohh i have ranted a bit haven't i. Does anyone else feel like this?

Rhumba · 18/04/2005 09:46

Morning all. For once I'm not going to have a total moan as at last I'm starting to feel a bit better. I've got loads more energy and have been able to spend most of the day out of bed without collasping after 10 minutes! Still very nauseous but can get round it by eating constantly and the odd vomit but feel the end is in sight. Had DS all day on Friday and had a lovely time. It was great being able to play with him with out thinking i would rather be in bed as I felt so ill and was about to puke.

On the other hand my stomach has exploded - I think I'd better find the maternity clothes! Am 16 weeks+4 and finally have my booking in appointment this week. Seems quite late to see the midwife for the first time but there you go.

Rang up the preggy yoga teacher I went to last time and am hoping to start that soon. There's a bit of a waiting list but hopefully I'll be feeling less sick by the time I go.

Hope everyone else is Ok - It's been a quiet weekend for this thread!

moschops · 18/04/2005 11:25

well i've finally parted with some very hardearned cash and bought a cot, wardrobe and chest of drawers. it's a huge relief as i was starting to stress i would never find anything!!!

its the first stuff we've bought for the baby and now we just need to get the carpet sorted and the nursery will be just about done.

my baby is moving loads now and its a great source of entertainment watching my belly move..........even though it is a little bit freaky!!!

Sallie · 18/04/2005 11:41

I also have a bump now. Was feeling a lot of movement last week but haven't felt so much over the weekend and today yet. I guess this is normal????

moschops · 18/04/2005 11:54

sallie i've been able to feel my baby move for quite a while now and got a bit worried last week when i couldn't feel movement as much as i had been. but then yesterday it started up again and now the feeling is a bit different, before i felt like i was just being kicked/punched but now it feels like my baby is turning round and stretching.

dp has noticed that over the last two weeks my bump has suddenly got a lot bigger.......

Katts · 18/04/2005 11:59

Hi all,

I felt some movement for the first time last week and have felt it again a couple of times but not as strong as before - and to be honest it could've just been my stomach rumbling. I think it's normal though.

So my personal pregnancy hate: people asking me if I've had any crazy cravings yet. And then beign shocked when I say no. I mean, do people really think that just because I'm pregnant I should be hankering for gherkin flavoured ice cream with chalk sprinkled on top? And how dare they look so baffled and disappointed when I say, no I haven't had any cravings. Now if they only asked, "Have you had excessive vaginal discharge?" Then we could talk.

Kiwifruit · 18/04/2005 14:18

Happy Monday ladies. Have spent the morning staring at spreadsheets, and have gone cross eyed, so thought a mumsnet break was in order - roll on maternity leave !!

Has anyone read that link on the Childbirth thread about Lotus Birth, where you don't cut the cord, but leave the placenta attached until it comes away naturally? There's a link to some photos - eeewwww!!! Really not very attractive (sorry if I've offended anyone who was planning on doing this... just not my cup of tea!).

I'm getting a bump, but DH informs me that it's as much from all the food I've been eating as it is from the baby. Charming!

Sallie · 18/04/2005 14:38

We have a doctor at work who has a sonicaid so am going to see her in a few moments just to check all is well....probably just me being paranoid!

Katts · 18/04/2005 15:48

Oooo those lotus birth pictures are a bit grim. It's like something out of a South Park episode.

Sallie, I'm sure everything's ok. But lucky you get to check!
