Nutty, Oh my God

SpringySunshine · 11/01/2009 18:44

"We have to buy him cow print stuff! It's your thing!" I knew I loved him for a reason

Springy - I've got a full sized buggysnuggle in that cow print for DS and it's amazing!

We went for a gender scan this morning and the baby is definitely a boy - finally saw proof IYSWIM. Excited that I can finally start buying things for the baby because so far we only have DS's old stuff. Scary that I have under 12 weeks to go. And DH and I do not like the same 'type' of boys names so there will be some arguments debate over the next few weeks.

Springy, any nightwear where you can whip your boobs out easily will do - buttons down the front always helps.

Re: Doula, may be if you are a student you might be able to get one helping you for very low cost - they do this sort of thing. It is always hardest with a first child, and sometimes feels a bit like a kind of twilight hell for a couple of weeks (although don't be scared - it soon gets heaps better), so I reckon the support would be invaluable.

Nutty - I do not want to think about how much I'm eating that the moment. Will be asking for gym membership as my 'giving birth' present from DH!

Schulte · 11/01/2009 20:04

I always eat two portions of everything - say when a ready meal says it's for 2-3 people then it's just right for me, as long as there is cheese and dessert afterwards as well

But I seem to remember that breastfeeding made me even hungrier... definitely going to have loads of meals in the freezer this time round!

Schulte · 11/01/2009 20:06

BoffinMum, is the second baby less of a shock to the system then?

Dreamt I had given birth last night - funnily couldn't remember anything about the actual birth but baby was there and sucking on my breast. It was lovely!

mathsmmmy - my sisters ds1 had the exact same problem with poo for at least a year too and got it sorted a few months ago - so can understand the joy at getting her to do it in the potty - well done.

nutty - i keep having to restrain myself from buying cute things for ds and my sisters ds2 - born 9 days apart and so pretty much exactly the same size and stage, and i keep wanting to dress them as Thing 1 and Thing 2 or other such double acts.

schulte - talking of arnica - last time round i got arnica cream but then couldnt realy work out if it was ok to put on my bits, so didnt end up using it - is it better to get arnica pills or something else rather than cream?

dh is away to a conference for the next couple of days so am on my own with ds just now. he was a very good boy this afternoon which was great as it takes a bit of effort to get off the ground now so if he'd been in the mood for not having nappies changed etc it would have been a bit of a nightmare.

on the eating thing though - i am eating enough as it is but when dh goes away, i always end up eating more. chocolate and ice cream galore. think i've burned off quite a few calories today with ds though so should be reasonably justified.

am getting excited about starting mat leave - thought it was going to be too soon before the birth, but i've got a few kilts lined up to make, so that will keep me busy and making a bit of money hopefully.

hope everyone has had a good day.

mathsmummy27 · 11/01/2009 21:06

arnica tablets. definitely.

I had a CD player with Air on last time and it has RUINED it for me. I break out into a cold sweat if I hear it now.

Don't forget lip balm and moisturiser - my skin got so dry, I had to beg some vaseline from nurses.

I have milk (ok, a teeeny bit of colostrum DD and I sat in the bath for an hour this evening watching baby kick and discussing milk and boobies. She thought it was hilaiously funny. 'Mummy, make the milk come out! (giggle giggle)'. DH thinks we are both lunatics

BoffinMum · 11/01/2009 22:49

Nutty, put the mammoth down, repeat, step away from the mammoth. You are full now.

Schulte, yes, I think the second baby is a lot less of a shock because it all comes back to you and you are used to coping with being a parent. That was the case for me, anyway.

it does sound like Braxton Hicks - in my last pg I went to labour ward with them at 30 weeks because they were so painful. Not been painful so far this time, just uncomfortable.

Could it be a musculoskeletal thing from lying on your back in the bath?

BoffinMum · 11/01/2009 23:04

Is it round ligament pain? Is it on the RHS mainly?

BoffinMum · 11/01/2009 23:05

Can you walk OK?

BoffinMum · 11/01/2009 23:05

Is there any rhythm or pattern to the pain? Does it recur?
