Hello. Just joined... Feel a little bit weird like I'm breaking into the conversation...
I'm due April 4th and live in Cardiff, (though I'm American, been here 3ish years now). It's my first pregnancy and finding things a little different to what I expected from anecdotes told by family and friends in the States. Dh, who's British, not much help as babies/pregnancy are not well known in his family, so I thought I'd join and see if I could glean some information from others.

BoffinMum · 05/01/2009 18:23

Have posted up a pic for Mumsnet mates to see and one 'public' one. Has it worked, I wonder?

BoffinMum · 05/01/2009 18:27

How do you look at people's profiles??

Ooh, I'm back just as you're all being good & putting photos up!

I avoid pregnancy pics too - the only one of my bump has my face missed off

BB, I made that dress It's the only thing I've ever made & I was so proud of it.

Nutty, you're exactly as I imagined you! I love the fluffy blue leg warmers - I have some in white (Not for general wear, honestly!)

Boffin, you're really pretty! & look exactly like someone, but I don't yet know which someone... I'll let you know when it comes to me

SpringySunshine · 05/01/2009 18:36

Welcome Bleuravin! Mumsnet is way more useful than the NHS, so well done for finding your way here

Do you know if you're having a boy or a girl?

BabyBolat · 05/01/2009 18:39

Oh Springy you are right - Boffin, you really do look like someone (it's going to bug me now!!)

Springy so impressed by your dress making skills!!!

Welcome Blueravin! It's my first pregnancy too and I am with you - it is NOTHING like what you expect it to be - how you finding it?

Bleuravin · 05/01/2009 18:41

Thank you everyone.
No idea whether it's a boy or girl as 16 week scan baby was being rather difficult to photograph. We just call it Sprite and vary the pronoun back and forth.

SpringySunshine · 05/01/2009 18:44

About first pregnancies - yeah, I was expecting it to be a 'magical', 'beautiful' experience I don't know why because my mum had awful pregnancies, but I bought into the 'I felt so energised' crap. I'm sorely disappointed & want my money back. Although I'll settle for a quick, painless labour

BB, I'm not usually good at making things, but I watched too many Gok Wan fronted shows & got all inspired. The inside of it looked a right state, but it looked lovely from the outside I had to tape my boobs into place though, which freaked DP out a bit

Bleuravin · 05/01/2009 18:47

I had a really horrible first 4 months with lots of sickness, luckily (in some ways) I had just given notice at my job and so after that I could take better care of myself at home. The past 2 months have been really great though. Sprite's been moving around a lot which is facinating and endearing. I began my 'nesting' phase lately and spend my days searching out info online and trying to straighten and organise the house.

BabyBolat · 05/01/2009 18:51

Ok have some up - must apologies in advance - only have holiday and wedding photo's on my lap top so limited selection!!

The outside is all that counts Springy!!!

BoffinMum · 05/01/2009 18:52

Have put some better ones up post-hair straightener phase. One of me in national costume. Always get lucky with DH when I wear that!!

Boffin your family looks perfect!! I want one!!!

BabyBolat · 05/01/2009 18:57

But which film - these things really bug me, I won't be able to sleep tonight until I work out who you look like Boffin!!!

Wow I've gone from Elfin to Elephant in 6.5 months! That is impressive!!

SpringySunshine · 05/01/2009 18:59

BB, you're gorgeous! Cow & your DH isn't bad, either!

Boffin, who DO you look like? It's driving me mad! & I want a lovely family too
