Seen m/w, referred for IUGR at hospital on Monday.

She says I'm too small (28, should be 32.5) and look too thin .

After Wednesdays shenanigans, have had enough. Off to google what it all means

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 19/12/2008 15:34

No don't google! Been there and done it, isn't worth it honestly.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 19/12/2008 15:36

Sorry Tink, glad DD is on the mend at last, though why you want to go out there is beyond me !

tinkisabigpinksparklybauble · 19/12/2008 15:42

hope all goes ok sorky no dont google nat is right

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 19/12/2008 15:50

Oi, Sorky, get yer bum back here young lady.

What exactly has been said? Where do you go from here? What will they do on Monday?

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 19/12/2008 16:24

Afternoon

Just back from Osteo...
Cup of tea and choccy biscuit anyone?

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 19/12/2008 16:33

sorky- please dont google... you'll only find scary stuff that will most likely have nothing to do with what your MW has said etc...

my tesco order arrived, thought it was supposed to be tons but it was barely anything and it cost me £101!!! my fridge is still half empty, i didn't buy any crisps, sweets etc. I didn't buy fruit or veg or fresh meat as getting all that on tuesday from local shops.... and i didn't buy any alcohol or nappies etc- my kitchen is still bare!!!! sh*t!! I'm gonna have to go out and get some proper supplies for over xmas etc now.... gutted!!

OP posts:
GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 19/12/2008 16:35

Oh Glask thats a pain... what did you order then ? surely chocolate and alchohol are the main part of everyone's shop

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 19/12/2008 16:42

oh dear, kays just text me, MW came, DS2 has put on 1oz and MW made her DH go and buy formula and she fed him it.... Kay says she feels a failure.... i'm nearly in tears for her!!

Surely the MW cant force her to FF so soon??? he still put a bit of weight on!!

OP posts:
NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 19/12/2008 16:49

Just had the same text, have given her the best advice I can. She needs a supportive BFC.

Bloody MW's, as great as they are at the whole pregnancy/giving birth thing, most of them should leave the BF thing well alone.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 19/12/2008 16:50

And the MW can't force her to feed him FF, even if he'd have not put anything on, not yet at least.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 19/12/2008 16:57

GYo..... i got a few freezer bits, some prawns for xmas day tea (prawn salad), scampi for DH and the DC's, a frozen pie and chips... and a cheesecake.

got a few pastry things for lunches for DH and the kids... some yoghurts, butter, cheese, some sandwich chicken tikka meat, and 2 2ltr milks...

i got some lemonade, bucks fizz, some high juice cordial and some fresh orange and apple.... then some cat munchies.... a box of cereal... some bread rolls, bagels and jam and honey and i honestly think thats it!!!

OP posts:
glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 19/12/2008 16:59

yeah.... i'm really upset for her... I'd not have done it if it were me, purely becasue i think if he's put on that 1oz then that should be the start of the weight gain!! Kay said he was feeding much better yesterday and today, so he's probably just starting to get the good stuff!!

OP posts:
NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 19/12/2008 17:02

I am with you Glask, we did a £120 shop at Morrisons on Monday or Tuesday (can't remember now) another £101 shop at Tesco on line on Wednesday, and although that is all the sweets, alcohol, extras, etc, we still need to go and do the fresh shop, and little bits like cooked meats and general house stuff. Adds up doesn't it?

(Should probably add though that we are expecting - or hoping at least - that it will all last us till at least the new year, don't think food shopping is going to be at the forefront of our minds next week!)

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 19/12/2008 17:06

Trouble is, when you're there and someone 'in the know' is telling your DH to go and get formula and feed him now, it's difficult to know your right and not listen to it, especially when it is the first time you've BF.

The other side of it as well is that we get guilted into BF, maybe Kay has just had enough, and it is an unmentionable relief? BF is bloody hard work, and as I said to Kay, it is always sited to be the best, but it actually isn't always the best thing for a family unit. It is fantastic when it works and when you can get through any problems, but heartbreaking when it isn't as 'simple' and 'natural' as we're told it is.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 19/12/2008 17:07

yeah.... well i did a shop at asda the other night which cost me £80, that had some nappies and wipes in it, and some xmassy things like mince pies and choccy's... but again nothing substantial!! I think my fresh meat shop at the butchers will be about £40-50 (getting a large chicken and chipolata's and bacon for xmas lunch, also bits for xmas breakfast, and lots of cooked meats for butties when family are here) and my fruit and veg will cost about £20-25.... so that'll be a total of around £240 for 2 weeks of shopping.... i can normally shop for a month on that sort of money!! haha!!

is it just xmas?? is that why it's cost more?? have i been buying things 'because its xmas' and not thinking of it as food?? i dont know but i'm gutted anyway!! grrrrrrr!!

OP posts:
glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 19/12/2008 17:10

yeah... ISWYM nat.... hopefully kay will do what SHE thinks is best for her and her DS... I hope she doesn't give up on BF just becasue of what the MW has said... she'll just be getting into a good routine in the next week etc, i always found after week 2 it was much much easier!!

OP posts:
NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 19/12/2008 17:20

I think we do get pulled in to the whole 'but it's xmas' thing, but then it's once a year, if we can't have a good old dingdong then, when can we hey?!

I'm sure Kay will do what's best for them all, it's what mums do isn't it?

I suppose I'd better start thinking about doing some dinner for the kids, it should have been done by now, or at least be on it's way, can't be bothered! Give us a shove towards the kitchen please!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 19/12/2008 17:29

My 2 have just asked for bagel with cream cheese on for their tea... they had beans on toast for lunch- i'm such a bad mummy i think it'll be a chocolate mousse for pudding for them too!!

bf can certainly be stressful with dd did till she was 5 weeks had had enough one day when she was latched onto me all day one day. she was always fussy with milk
food shopping is expensive 2

tinkisabigpinksparklybauble · 19/12/2008 17:33

what do you ladies know about transverse lie?
didnt ask the midwife yesterday much just said about having the scan, also warned me about the dangers if my waters go from now on with that position is dangerous if waters break something about cord doind something and babys shoulder can engage first.
is it right that a csection i the only option if she doesnt change position?
how much chance of her changing position?

GruffaloSoldier · 19/12/2008 17:36

Tink - my nephew was a big baby (9lb 14oz I think) and was also transverse but my sister gave birth naturally - he changed position during the birth, she had to have episotomy though but my sis said she preferred this to tearing. This was 11 years ago though so things might have changed.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 19/12/2008 17:36

I can't even get away with doing something simple, they've had crap for the last two nights (hotdogs yesterday and something the day before that I pulled out of the fridge and plonked on a plate, can't even remember what it was... quiche and salad I think....)

I really am going to go and do them something... pasta might be good, just not sure I can be bothered standing over it!

Right I am gone, have a good night everyone, and weekend if I don't make it on. Kay, always on the phone if you want to chat. See you all tomorrow/next week xxx

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 19/12/2008 17:38

bye nat... i'll be off in a bit too... wanna sit on the couch for a bit and watch my soaps before making tea for me and DH later

Hi,

LaTour, You are an angel!!!! Thanks ever so much, you have really helped me feel better.

Nat and Glask, Thanks for all youe lovely texts. You are amazing!!

I am not going to stop BF, not in a million years. I am going to give him his top ups of formula until he has put some more weight on.

MW reckons my milk still isn't in properly as he isn't getting any hind milk at all and my milk looks watery.

She is coming back tomorrow to see how we got on with the FF. She says he sucks the bottle like a Bfeeder. Whatever that means though!!

Only quick post as I am meant to be helping DS1 find the 2 pieces of jigsaw he has lost!!
