Is anybody there?
Things have suddenly gone so quiet ...

It's like an episode of survivors ...

SantasNuttySTaff · 06/12/2008 17:30

SantasNuttySTaff · 06/12/2008 17:34

VirginBoffinMum · 06/12/2008 17:39

I am here Nutty!! I am finishing my Crimbo shopping online but fretting about the cost of it all!

chrismathsmummy25th · 06/12/2008 19:51

Me too I am wrapping more pressies and listening hard-heartedly to DD shouting ' I am lonely! It is dark! I can't see!'.

How is everyone doing?

SantasNuttySTaff · 06/12/2008 20:33

tell me about it, blooming expensive, i have to buy all mine still!! eek, cheque clears on monday though so will get it all done then going to cost me a bomb because i have to get dd's birthday prezzies too (all she would like is a bratz doll or 2 and bloody barbie has run them out of town)

VirginBoffinMum · 06/12/2008 20:33

Just deciding whether to go out to some friends to share a bottle of wine, metaphorically speaking in my case. Bit knackered, but should probably make the effort.

I have got nearly all the presents now except for my 2 nephews (25 and 28 - older one has Aspergers). They are hard to buy for, because I don't particularly have any feelings for them, never hear from them from one Xmas to the next, they never send me a card or ring me up, never tell me whether they liked what they got last time, etc etc. It all feels a bit artifical. Last year I got them Hackett toiletry sets. Any ideas for this year??

SantasNuttySTaff · 06/12/2008 20:39

how about a ted baker gift set (scarf & gloves) or maybe i-tunes voucher each?

or juts dont bother tis a bit rude not to at least pick up the phone or drop an e-mail to say thanks

SantasNuttySTaff · 06/12/2008 20:40

maybe a voucher for game?

VirginBoffinMum · 06/12/2008 20:49

I am tempted not to bother, but they are on DH's side, and this might be seen as a shot over the bows of some kind.

I have to say I am crap at thank yous so I don't mind all that much, but I do mind never getting a birthday card, so I stopped sending them birthday cards at that point.

I think the Ted Baker idea is great actually. Thanks! So I will go with that for now.

SantasNuttySTaff · 06/12/2008 20:50

SantasNuttySTaff · 06/12/2008 21:02

chrismathsmummy25th · 06/12/2008 21:23

How scary! Do you know what it causing it?

SantasNuttySTaff · 06/12/2008 21:46

yeah, the prolapsed disc in my back, it usually doesn't last this long though which is whats scary about it, i can usually shuffle or feel my calfs & feet or its just the left leg that completely dies on me, but its both today i can stick pins in them and i cant feel a thing

chrismathsmummy25th · 06/12/2008 22:08

you have my sympathy [fmsile]
I can't even cope with pins and needles in my fingers so goodness knows how you must be feeling.

I have just made some chocolate mousse however... (God bless Nigella)

SantasNuttySTaff · 06/12/2008 22:19

thanks

oohh choccy mousse yum, mid-evening treats?

chrismathsmummy25th · 06/12/2008 22:36

Was going crazy waiting for DH to return from work..serious chocolate craving but I can't stand boring old chocolate per se.

So I raided the advent calendars and made Nigella's mousse...and it is heavenly.

Help yourself

SantasNuttySTaff · 06/12/2008 22:48

you divine domestic goddess you

ta, yum yum

gingersarah · 07/12/2008 10:22

good morning.
frekkles, hope you are feeling better. the person probably didn't know how fragile you have been feeling for so long and should have gone easier on you. it's not your fault. easier said than done, but don't take it to heart.

not feeling christmassy yet... not in a good way anyway, just freaked out and tearful. found myself on lastminute last night wondering if there is some way of avoiding the whole thing, there isn't tho. you can run off somewhere but you will just feel terrible somewhere else, and have to deal with airports as well.

lots to do today. have to pull myself together and go and deal with shops. at least the sun is out (here anyway) . Have a nice day

KittyCrackers · 07/12/2008 11:15

Good morning lovely ladies!

It's the MOST beautiful day here in Surrey today - the sun is shining, the day is frosty and everything looks like it's been dusted with sparkly icing sugar... it's making me hungry!!

We had DH's Xmas do last night and it was fab... My hair looked great, my dress was pretty, my bump has finally made an appearance so I looked "blooming" instead of just chubby - and we were up until midnight!!! I haven't done that since we got preggies - just haven't had the energy - and am feeling sooooo proud of myself today...

I'm also having a little quiet giggle cos DH had a few toots last night and is now feeling worse for wear... tee hee... poor baby...

VirginBoffinMum · 07/12/2008 11:20

Nutty, I am very worried about your back today. Who have you seen about it, and what treatment have you had?

Ginger, if you booked anything there is bound to be an airport strike, so what about having a really streamlined Christmas? I actually asked my DCs for customer feedback with the aim of reducing my stress and perfection levels, and discovered the following:

  • They wanted chocolate sponge pudding when the adults had Christmas pudding.

  • DS1 wanted to be let off eating meat that day and not nagged.

  • DS2 wanted to be able to go to the park for a run around even if it was raining.

  • DCs all wanted fewer presents than expected as long as the main present was a computer game.

  • They were unfussed about seeing relatives, and more interested in playing board games and eating chocolate.

I therefore ordered all the food relatively cheaply from Tescos, ordered most of the presents online last weekend (make sure you visit www.tchibo.co.uk for some bargains) and wrapped things more or less as they arrived. I may avoid sending Xmas cards for once.

I am quite pleased with how I have tackled things this year, it can be done!!

chrismathsmummy25th · 07/12/2008 17:53

I'm putting in my vote for ordering pressies online..amazon is good, as is totally-funky.co.uk.

We have also ordered a job lot of air-drying clay, and made and painted monsters for all the adoring relatives that we usually struggles to find pressies for. Also www.vistaprint is good for personalised t-shirts, mugs and calendars.

SantasNuttySTaff · 07/12/2008 18:05

Evening

boffin - loving the costomer satisfaction survey lol

back is a bit better today thank goodness, it seems to have gone back to being just the left leg thats affected today,

boffin my doc has been really good about it all actually so i cant complain, she reffered me to hospital for mri when i was 14 weeks bit of a palaver cos i was seen by the nurse who said that i would be straight in for the mri then surgery after seeing the ward consultant, he told me the same, i then had the registrar come to assess me and she said that due to me being in the first trimester that an mri alone could be harmful to the baby let alone the surgery that would follow and she said that it was far too risky for them to treat me, which i thought was fair enough. so bit of a catch 22 really, have been advised to rest and keep taking the solpadol but go to the doc again if things are worse (going to see how i am this week cos this weekend has been pretty awful) but to be fair my doc phones me every fortnight to check how i am, which i think is fantastic of her cos she doesn't have to.

gingersarah - hope your feeling a bit more upbeat this evening and the shopping wasn't too horrendous, hopefully when you get to greece? (is that right?) things will be better than you fear xx

SantasNuttySTaff · 07/12/2008 18:08

oooh love those cupcake lip glosses
