The nail polish story made me LOL Lulu! I can't believe that DD is now 18 months old. She is into dollies and kitchens/anything homely. For the past couple of days she has been extremely clingy and wants to be attached to me at all times...until Daddy comes home from work and then he gets to entertain his little limpet girl.

PuzzleRocks · 28/11/2008 14:08

DD has a play kitchen from my Mum this year. I can't wait to play with it too.

oh dear - just remembering some of the haute cuisine dishes my friend and I used to prepare in her toy kitchen when we were little. Fresh snails from the garden served with chocolate sprinkles anyone?

PuzzleRocks · 28/11/2008 14:31

Fantastic, she loves mess.

We have got her a pop up tent and tunnel. I don't think I will try playing with that though. May get my pregnant self well and truly wedged.

Oooooooo, I think that we have enough nectar points left to buy DD the pop-up tunnel from Argos. You should've seen the look on her face yesterday when they got one out at the end of Family Point (sure start thingy).

V1kk1M, Am I right in saying you got pregnant pretty soon after first child was born. Don't think I could have coped with being pregnant when DD was so little - has taken me three years to get used to the idea of having another.

Congratulations and respect

ROFL laughing, NuttyTaff

Tried to go shopping today. Had to give up in pain. Have now applied for Disability Living Allowance, which is a bit depressing. Off to chiro tomorrow for more 'adjusting'. So more jokes from everyone please to cheer things up!

On the upside, I presciently did loads of my Xmas shopping in Poundstretcher in October so I am well ahead of the game. How credit crunch friendly is that?? Actually got some great stuff.

Hi,
Just popping in to say thanks for your messages, and that I am feeling much better today, in spite of MIL's presence and her aggravating comments (she suggested I shouldn't wear a pink top because I'm pregnant with a baby boy...). My DS is indeed gorgeous and adorable (unbiased opinion, obviously).

Good news: we have found a name which works in both French and English, and which is kind of Scottish-y. Well, it was used by kings in Scotland, so that'll do me. But we are keeping it to ourselves for the moment.

Frekkles, glad you got the telling over and done with. Hand in there and keep strong; I agree that the fact your ex was lovely doesn't necessarily mean that things would work between you, if they didn't before. And your new DP may well be feeling a bit hurt and left out, since as he says for him the pregnancy is positive news, and he'd like to share that with you. Their positions are so different, it's maybe not accurate to compare them and decide that their attitudes are an indicator of their feelings for you. It's all so confused, I really feel for you, but you will get through this, and feeling your baby move is such a great sensation that every time it happens it'll boost you and give you more strength to move forwards.

Bon weekend, everyone!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 28/11/2008 22:38

Phew, I just can't seem to keep up with this thread. Guess there's so many of us that the pages grow so quickly. Just seems there's no way I can read everything.

Hope everyone is doing OK. Got my 3rd antenatal visit on Monday - but they're always boring 5 minute sessions, that one hardly sees the point of them! LOL Oh well - always lovely to hear the heart beat anyway!

Claireykitten · 29/11/2008 08:50

Well reading some of those replies about little girls it doesnt sound like Ive got much chance of not having a pink and glittery girly girl does it!

I had to go to the supermarket for a few bits last night and ended up getting all mushy and excited looking at all the cute little girly clothes. Its so different looking at them knowing that I am going to have a little girl to put in them rather than thinking if I ever had a girl that would be really nice.

Anyway regarding my consultants appointment. I think I have posted before about being told by my midwife that since I had a 3rd degree tear last time I would have to have an elective episiotomy and a dry land labour and birth. Well ever since then I have convinced myself that she was talking a load of rot and everything would be fine but the consultant has said exactly the same so I ended up in tears on Thursday which scared them into admitting that they cant force me to have or do anything I dont want to. The wording used was "Our priority is your safety and health but I suppose that isnt neccesarily your priority" but since they have admitted that the main reasons I tore were probably that DS came flying out really quickly and facing the wrong way up I dont think I am being unreasonable to feel that taking the risk of tearing again isnt that stupid or irresponsible of me as it is quite likely neither of those things will happen again.

I can't believe how fast this thread moves either - it has been literally impossible to keep up with this week!

frekkles good luck with telling flatmates and what you describe sounds like baby movement to me

My news is that I have also had my 20 week scan, everything thankfully looked OK and I am also having a girlie when all my intuition told me otherwise!!! Sonogropher said that she had seen the three lines but "wasn't allowed to say that she was certain!" I might have to buy something little and pink before too long .

BoffinMum · 29/11/2008 10:02

Claire, that was a horrid thing of them to say. Of course you care about your health. You just have a broader perspective than they do. Are there any consultants or mw around by you who are a bit more hands off in their approach? Can you do some optimal foetal positioning and get the baby in a really good position? A good mw should have been able to persuade the baby out a bit less violently anyway (by encouraging panting and so on) - what on earth were they doing with you on the day?

Frekkles, really does sound like baby movements. At first it's like a flutter or a bit of wind in an odd place, normally. When you have more kids you get used to spotting them earlier - I felt action at 10 weeks this time, which took me by surprise.

BoffinMum · 29/11/2008 10:03

BTW keep going NuttyTaff, pmsl at jokes!

To be honest I didnt really have much coaching or help or whatever you want to call it as to what I was supposed to to do or how I was supposed to do it so basically I got told at 3am that I was fully dilated and could start to push instead of just fighting against the "baring down" feeling I had had since 11pm. So I started pushing and as far as I knew you were only supposed to push during a contraction so I would push as long as I could and then wait for the next contraction instead of taking a breath and continuing. So with each contraction I was getting him to as the midwife put it "the U-bend" and then he would slip back up whilst I waited for a contraction, as soon as she told me I should just keep pushing whether I had a contraction or not I did that and he FLEW out as in a midwife came in to observe her first water birth got told we probably had a while turned round to wash her hands and before she finished I got a contraction pushed and his head was out so there was no stretching time whatsoever. At the time I didnt know I was having a back-to-back labour so I dont know whether the midwife knew or not but apparently that probably contributed to it as well. Put quite basically I was just left to my own devices and got no help whatsoever but I have to say that I did thoroughly enjoy my birth experience and couldnt wait to do it again despite everything that went wrong afterwards!!
