hi ladies thought i would be organised and start a new thread

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
newmomma · 04/12/2008 09:23

oopsa just read back through the last few pages of this thread. i'm so sorry to have read about the loss of your little one last year. i have a friend in the exact same situation - she lost her little boy a week ago last year and is now awaiting the birth of her dc3 in the next couple of weeks. i can't imagine how you must be feeling, you're very brave - best of luck with the induction. when is it booked for? x

tink thanks for adding me to the list - i feel part of an amazing new club

oopsadaisyangel · 04/12/2008 09:28

Thanks newmomma - my induction is booked for the 29th December but the consultant has said that if I'm struggling then they will do it earlier - have a feeling that I'm not going to last till the 29th and go on my own before then (maybe thats wishful thinking!)

newmomma · 04/12/2008 09:31

wow, that's so exciting - not long to go now at all - just over two weeks!

you'll have your little one for the new year... x

when was your original due date?

My original date was the 19th January and they always said that they would induce me at 37 weeks but the last few scans and measurements I've had have shown that the baby is big (was about 4.5lbs three weeks ago) and they think they might have my dates wrong so might bring it all forward - so I might have the baby here for Christmas

To be perfectly honest - its hard as hell this pregnancy not just because of what happened but because I feel soooo much bigger and heavier but as long as baby gets her alright then I'm happy to suffer!

newmomma · 04/12/2008 09:36

he he i didn't see those before

givethedogachristmaspud - are you a christmas addict too??

oopsa bless you - it would be lovely to have your little one here for christmas.

4.5lbs three weeks ago - sound like a good size! he/she must be quite round and ready to meet their mummy soon i should think! do you know the sex?

it makes me realise how relatively little time i have to go and how completely NOT ready we are... jealous of all you ladies out there with photos up of beautiful nurseries - mine still looks like a builders dumping ground...

newmomma · 04/12/2008 09:42

i LOVE xmas too - not done anything to prepare yet though - must be a common theme here. hmm...

nursery not ready... not bought a single xmas pressie and no decs up yet. ek!

rrrayray · 04/12/2008 09:49

oopsa Such a sad story about the little one you lost, but such a lovely thought that your about to meet your little baby! and maybe intime for Christmas too.. Lovely!

Everyone has been SO busy posting its hard to keep up! Welcome to the newbies & get well soon to all of you who are poorly.

Had Breastfeeding NCT class last night. poor OH looked So bored and tired but for me it was pretty useful. I didn't realise that Breastmilk once expressed could be kept for so long (7 hours room temp, 7 days fridge, month freezer! )

Weather HORRID here today.

Hospitital bag STILL not properly packed, just got a few bits laid out. Must get on with it!

MsSparkle · 04/12/2008 09:50

Morning,

You leave the thread for one day and there is so much to catch up on!

Welcome to the newbies

HeathersMummy thats great news that you don't have to have a c-section. You must be so relieved!

Chefswife, sorry to hear you are so ill.

I saw my midwife yesterday and i told her that i thought the baby had moved positions and she checked and couldn't tell which position it is lying in. So i have to go for a scan this morning to check it's not breach. I am praying it's not breach! I really don't want to have to have a c-section. My baby is on the right hand side, my midwife said it would be better if it was on the left, not sure why?

oopsadaisyangel · 04/12/2008 09:50

Don't know the sex - had agreed that we would wait to find out but its been really hard because i've been having a scan once a week and am always SOO tempted just to ask!! Have a feeling its another boy though - a house full of mischief is what I can see

tinkisahugexmaspudding · 04/12/2008 09:53

hi newm and rray

ms sparkle i am seeing midwife next @ 36 weeks 2 weeks today @ 31 weeks baby was breech i am not sure which way baby is lying
good luck with scan

qumps · 04/12/2008 10:08

too much to catch up on. head is spinning.
hello to newbies. you are very welcome.
oopsa you sound so brave. can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like for you.
why i am i never on the list when it gets resent??!! i am having a c section on the 30th dec but sounds like i am not to be the first any more. argh its all getting so real. trying everything to get baby moving naturally. even a gof! (lol at that one!!!!)
sore throat and cough today but desperately trying to ignore as refuse to be ill. ds at nursery today and finally all our building work and carpets and decorating are all done so got a day of doing all the pretty stuff.
a friend is moving abroad and she has the loveliest boxer in the world. want to adopt him but dh is saying no. she is so good with ds and he adores her. think dh is concerned for the cats wellbeing which is fair enough but in my head they will all get on like a disney film

largeginandtonic · 04/12/2008 10:27

Oh i cant keep up! You chat too much

Moose how is ds? Hope he is on the mend.

FLF good BF advice there. I am a militant BF, mainly due to laziness The last baby was a terrible feeder, he never latched on well. I told him to 'man up' and carried on for 7 months regardless. He feel off his charts too, looks fine to me now though

We have an insanely busy day ahead here in the Gin household. DD sees her Endocrinologist this morning, she has her play this afternoon, her disco and 2nd play performance tonight and the twins have their disco tonight too. In between all that i have to get the 3 year old to playschool and collect him, pick up ds#3 from school and occupy the near psychotic 18mth old too. Wish me luck!

I saw the consultant yesterday, he tried to scare me with statistics (most of which he made up) but had to concede at the end of the appointment that although he would not recommend a HB i probably wouldnt get to hospital anyway. The girl has levelled in her growth too so no worries on that front.

I can be left alone!!! Hooray.

Welcome Newmum Join in the chaos.

LenniEd · 04/12/2008 12:07

Morning (ish) all - half way through snowman building now, bloody hard work too! Come in to warm up and for food. He he, love the festive smileys.

I'd love to know why LOA is better than ROA too - DD was posterior and turned during labour (very painful). This one is ROA last time I went (have a feeling it might be LOA now) but I don't understand why there is a difference. All the cyberdoulas on the childbirth topic will always tell you sleep on your left side etc etc though.

rrrayray · 04/12/2008 12:15

Awww.. we don;t have any snow today!! :-( I do hope your snow WOMAN has a nice preggy belly too !

Feeling LOTS of movement today, but not Kicks, more like rolling, like she keeps changing position... okay, as if spoke too soon, kicks now! I'm pretty sure shes no longer back to back which is of course good news.

I have no idea why LOA is better than ROA, and my midwife never mentioned that to me before. all she said (perhaps b/c bubba was posterior at the time) was that anterior was better than posterior. I think the reason we are told to sleep on left rather than right is APPARENTLY this gives the best blood flow and compresses the least nerves or some Ga Ga like that. Tried to stick to this when bump first arrived, but gone out of the window now... am just laying in whatever position i EVENTUALLY find comfy, after tossing and turning and rearranging my nest of pillows!!!

Off to do food shop & then to make mince pies to take to friend's who we are having dinner at tonight!

lg&t - great news

no snow here just sun for a change

Kittenpaws · 04/12/2008 15:33

Wow so much to catch up on - hope all of you who are poorly or have poorly little ones are feeling better. Am quite jealous of the snow though - we didn't have nay just rain although its been sunny for most of the day.

I got to choose my baby's birthday yesterday - very surreal experience! Good news is that the baby has turned as is no longer breech but am still booked in for c-section due to potential complications from previous section and tear. I'm fine about it but it was very odd when the doctor got out a folder and asked me to choose a day - not that there was much choice -they had a page for each day and a number of slots - the only day that worked for them and me was the 22nd Dec (due date is 31st/1st) so will be having a pre-Xmas baby

Now have to pack a bag and finish getting the house sorted but am supposed to be working from home this afternoon so better finish that.

TALLULAHBELLE · 04/12/2008 16:29

Thought I'd check in but is just too much to catch up on. Had quick skim & see we've not too long to wait for our first arrivals. At the moment my consultant is talking about delivering at 38 weeks - either section (DT2 breech) or induction - that would be around 30 Dec. Am hoping to go naturally before either of those things happens so fingers crossed for spontaneous labour between 37-38 wks.

Packed hosp bag yesterday. Remembered my Lasinoh, but realised have forgotten to get arnica & flip flops. Arnica should be easy enough but where can I get flip flops in Dec?

moosemama · 04/12/2008 17:03

Hi

Interesting day, am totally exhausted and will catch up on thread tomorrow.

Had excruciating headache all through the night and couldn't feel any movements from my usually nocturnal baby. She still wasn't moving when I woke up this morning despite my trying every position, iced water and a drink of hot squash. At that point I started to panic. Went to call the hospital, only to find they hadn't put any phone numbers on the front of my notes. That's also when DH told me he wasn't going to work anyway as he was coughing up blood and needed to call the docs!

Rang the switchboard of the hospital and they put me straight through to the labour ward as antenatal wasn't yet open. They told me to come straight in. Called Mum who came round to sit with boys (ds2 still v poorly but slightly better, ds1 still with slight temp and v little voice and upset as wanted to go to school but couldn't).

Felt a few tiny movements in car on way to hospital, felt slightly better but not really as nowhere near normal for bubs. Got to the hospital and was taken to Day Assessment Unit where they found traces of protein in my sample, but blood pressure ok and put me on a trace whilst lying on a very uncomfortable bed which seemed to encourage baby to wake up and dance! Trace was fine, plenty of movements, v reassuring, but when mw checked position they discovered she is breech!

Lots of waiting around for registrar, who confirmed she is breech and was quite concerned about the combination of headache and protein, so prescribed 2 codryamol (sp) to see if headache eased and arranged a scan and doppler straight away.

Scan showed that she is definitely a she, definitely breech and specifically extended breech, which apparently means she has her legs extended up with her feet by her head (often called toe sucking breech apparently). This means she is extremely unlikely to turn. Doppler showed placenta and blood flow was ok. Scan also showed that she is on a low centile and if it drops any further they would be looking to deliver sooner rather than later! So, am booked in next Thursday to see the consultant to discuss cephalic inversion vs c-section! (Apparently inversion is not often possible with this type of breech.)

General consensus on the headache is that it is a migraine brought about by stress.

Just got home (been at hospital since 9.00am). Boys been really good for grumpy grandma (to whom I am extremely grateful for having them). Ds2 slightly improved temperature wise but still not eating and very weak.

DH never did get to call the doctors, but remarkably seems a lot better this evening. Have told him he must call the surgery anyway.

Am now completely knackered and need to eat and then sleep, doubt I will get either though until the boys are in bed.

tinkisahugexmaspudding · 04/12/2008 17:46

hi kitten paws and tallu - wow so not long for you to must be strange to know what date you are having bubs
wow moosema - you do go through it.
good luck seeing consultant

MsSparkle · 04/12/2008 17:56

Kitten, it must have been very strange choosing your babys birthday!

Moosemama, sorry to hear the baby is breach yay for definatly being a girl though

Had my scan today and my baby is not breach. It is lying head down on my right side so that's a relief!
