Charley - great idea with the boob tube - you clever little thing you

I was going to ask when you were off for your trip - so do you fly out tomorrow? How exciting - you're going to have the best time, esp now the weather's heating up too, oooh I'm so

MrsWednesday · 16/03/2005 15:07

Ahhhh, a long boozy lunch...something to look forward to during this long, hot summer we're (hopefully) going to have this year. I can just see us all now, sipping chilled white wine in the garden while beautiful babies sleep peacefully under a parasol and toddlers play quietly...Well I can but dream . I am soooooooo looking forward to having a drink and not feeling guilty about it.

Redheadmum - how did your appointment go yesterday?

Haven't heard from Tessiebear for a while, hope she's ok. And Scraggy is STILL missing in action - I'm starting to get worried.

MrsWednesday · 16/03/2005 15:08

Forgot to say, no boob tubes in my wardrobe either I'm afraid. But have a wonderful, wonderful time in Venice.

LOL Mrs W yeah I have the same kind of dreams, now all I have to do is get dd-to-be and ds to go along with it!

I was going to post something about Scarggy missing too...know what you mean, you can't help but worry - I know she was very busy with courses, travelling and being poorly when she last posted...hoping it's still one of those keeping her away

MrsWednesday · 16/03/2005 15:23

Good point KVG. I do have her email address (but obviously no brain otherwise I would have thought of this myself) so have just sent her a quick email to see how she is.

Charleypops, was going to reply to you on your waterbirth thread but the discussion keeps moving on so I'll just answer here. I found that, for me, moving around was the only thing that kept the pain away - I did try and have a bath in the hospital but lying down made things really uncomfortable. So, a waterbirth for me would have been more like water torture .

Well I am grabbing a few mins on here in the pretence of sitting with my dd while she has her tea. I am such a bad mummy.
I want Lindt eggs now. What a description and what do you mean you haven't eaten them all.
Uwila - We will be with you for the next two months...and beyond I hope. Rant away. I find it really interesting how she is thinking actually, but don't envy you. This site is Therapy.
Charley have a GREAT trip and top tip about boob tube. My bump is still not worth covering in its own right (although is growing), I am just fatter and fatter so into DH's tshirts territory. Wish I had a boob tube too.
Uki - Good to hear from you and completely agree about relationships etc. Glad yours is yummy too.
Tea - Oi...haven't had that many appts......yet.
Kat - Know what you mean about not knowing what to do with boys. Eeek. I was really worried about it, having a girl already, but now I am excited. Don't know what I am having BTW.
KVG - Shame not same person for yoga, sure she will be equally good tho. Tell us all tomorrow and if there is a DVD she recommends....
Mrs W - I have a wedge and a lumbar roll from when I had physio. The wedge doesn't fit on our chair but I sit on the wedge all the time I am on the computer or eating. Really helps with making space for the bump. It is odd to begin with though as you feel like you are falling off all the time. Have to run....

teabelly · 16/03/2005 15:47

LOL KVG - now wouldn't that be nice....hmmm just need the responsible adults

uwila · 16/03/2005 15:49

Ah, Tea, that's a lovely idea about making nanny jump through my hoops on the food frint. BUT, I'm afraid it will do more to piss me off than it will to alter her behaviour.

My plan, however, is that for the rest of this week I shall go home a bit early and write down what she tells me. Then, on Monday morning, I am going to hand her a written warning that details the changes to be made to DD's routine. No doubt she will ignore them. But, our contract out lines a dismissal process of 1. verbal warning 2. written warning and 3. dismissal. I will probably include the contract when I hand this to her with this procedure hightlighted. The only real decision now is... which color highlighter to use.

The thing with the two months is that I don't really feel like running round to the childminder every morning and night when I'm 8+ months pregnant and still have to get to work for a full day. But, then, perhaps I'll be just as glad to have my house back to myself.

I think DD will wear a dress and tights tomorrow. Nanny especially finds tights unsuitable because they do not allow her legs to properly dry off after swimming on Wednesdays... whatever.

uwila · 16/03/2005 15:50

Thanks Coop

teabelly · 16/03/2005 15:50

Coop

uwila · 16/03/2005 15:53

Ooo... just had a thought. I may instigate a maximum tv viewing rule as well. Or perhaps I should grow up???? Nah!

teabelly · 16/03/2005 15:57

Oh no Uwila - don't do that it's much more fun to think up silly new rules!!

JonahB · 16/03/2005 16:01

Aftermoon All,

Just got back from 3 hr drive each way to visit a customer. Obviously, the first thing I do upon my return is not work, but eat the last of the choc brownies and go onto MN .

KVG - thanks for your choc egg summary. V. impressive and insightful summary. However, I have one tiny quibble. Nothing is too expensive when choc is concerned during prgy. Just think about the vast sums of money you are saving by not drinking (or maybe that's just me ).

Charley, love the boob tube suggestion, you go girl! Unfortunately, the idea of me in a boob tube, pgt or otherwise, or in fact any item of clothing which didn't require a heavily constructed bra, is unthinkable. I do remember when I spent 6 months in Rotterdam, it was v. popular with the Dutch to do this. You could buy these boob tube fabric belly warmers from pgy shops there.

Uwila, definitely go for the tights/TV viewing rules!! Have you considered stipulating certain educational aids to be used daily(flash cards etc), or even certain CD's to be listened to, all of which will require a verbal report at the end of each day?

katzguk · 16/03/2005 16:03

i think you should insitgate a coloured food week so on monday - DD is only allowed to eat white food, tuesday - only yellow, wednesday - orange, thursday - green and friday - red. Use the excuse that you will dress DD accordingly so that her clothes will not get ruined by spills ect. plus coding her clothes to her food will make your nannies job easier!

uwila · 16/03/2005 16:08

Ah, but you see I am actually lining up a very serious conversation that outlines her failure to comply with contractual obligations. It says "mimimal tv viewing" so I thought I might just define that a bit further... say one hour per day?

ACtually, I may be putting too much effort into this. I think the food rules alone might be enough to send her packing.

Oh I don't know. Whatever get me through until we say good-bye. I think my biggest worry is the time she spends in my house and with DD while she knows her departure is forthcoming. I've even toyed with simply telling her I'm taking a long maternity leave, and therefore no longer require her services.

moonshine · 16/03/2005 16:09

Hi KVG - thought I'd return the 'crashing' and come over here! Boy you lot really can talk or are there just loads of you??

Yes I think most of us on the June 04 are grads from the ante-natal club. Others have come and gone but it's the old-timers who have stayed. Mind you, saying that, we are, in complete contrast, a pretty quiet lot (or maybe I just bore them to tears, who knows).

Anyway, good luck ladies. Most of the 04 lot had boys - co-incidence????? It's a great time to have a baby - not too hot but you can get the baby out in time for some nice strolls in the park and the crying is never quite so bad in the open air!

uwila · 16/03/2005 16:10

Very funny Katz

Lua · 16/03/2005 16:14

You know what Katz, I might have to stipulate this food and clothe match myself!
Have one too many of DDs shirts ruined by the old (nutritious) tomato sauce!

tribpot · 16/03/2005 16:15

Will catch up properly, but uwila, is there any need to 'dismiss' the nanny? Can you not just give her notice? As you say, the extended maternity leave is a good enough excuse really - saves any 'atmosphere' developing in the meantime.

teabelly · 16/03/2005 16:15

KATZ - you have just made me spit my tea out all over the keyboard - very good ideas, very very funny!!

Moonshine - couldn't agree more, my ds is a june babe too, and it's one of the nicest times to be off...obviously something about September that causes all these boys!
