Hi Everyone,

I am so jealous that so many of you are feeling definite movements! Now and again I think I can feel something but am never sure that it's not gas or a muscle twinge. I am now 16+5 with my triplets and would really love some obvious kicks/movements....hopefully soon.

Mizzanine - my bump had a bit of a spurt last week but seems to have stayed the same since then. Had scan on Friday and all fine so don't worry. I think it must happen in fits and starts!

How is everyone else feeling today? I have just eaten two jam doughnuts and contemplating a third....

Love Barbarella XX

OddEyes · 04/11/2008 17:14

Prams - had/have a quinny buzz with ds, which loved, particularly the facing both ways feature and have only just turned him forwards as he now prefers that but love the psychology of looking at mum. will still use quinny sometimes early on with babe in sling. Looks like the sport because of handle heights etc although really like some of the funcunality of vibe - folds with doubles kit attached etc- will see what budget and dh says!

OddEyes · 04/11/2008 17:18

Barbarella - a jam doughnut each allows you 4!

also on prams - good plan to chose now, test them all out etc (john lewis was great they show you all the pros and cons of each pram personally and have nice cake ;)) and then go sales shopping in Jan - we got everything for the buzz on sale saving us almost £200

conkertree · 04/11/2008 20:05

mizzannie - sure you will feel the movements soon - and then you wont get a minutes peace from them soon after.

and on prams -as others say, i dont think there is a magic solution unfortunately. we ended up having three, although one of those is a specialist running buggy. we have a bebe confort loola as our first one, and a maclaren (cheap, light etc) for a run around one - just not suitable from birth. the loola is fine - not too heavy, folds reasonably small, seat goes both ways etc - not a great basket but solid enough to hang things from the handle bars.

agree with swaliswan that you cant always (ever?) find one buggy to do everything you want.

for this one, i think we will try to get by to start with using the loola/maclaren for ds and a sling for dc2 as I loved my didymos with ds when he was wee - think i might get a lighter weight one for the summer though.

had midwife today and heard the heart beat - was fantastic. reassured me a lot that things were ok.

LuLuBai · 04/11/2008 21:04

Bubbaluv - a friend of mine upgraded from Jane Slalom Pro to Powertwin. She's very happy. Can't vouch for it msyelf as never pushed her pram but the chassis is almost identical so would have thought manoevrability (sp?) would be similar. Nowhere near as roomy though. Children quite upright.

Sorry for stacatto message - typing while listening to baby monitor. DD stirring and I'm stressing out as her sleep is appalling at the moment (remind me - why did I think 2 babies would be a good idea?)

Think I should probably go to bed myself now to try and get some kip in. Something tells me she'll have me up in time to see in the results of the US presidential election...

Night night all

mathsmummy27 · 04/11/2008 21:22

Interested to hear the pram debate! I had a cheap travel system with DD and loved it - versatile, easy to put down, loved being able to keep her in car seat and the suspension/handling was great (went off road quite a bit too).

Definite kicks here can be felt outside too! Sitting in a ridiculuously long meeting tonight and couldnt stop smiling as having a chat with baby all the way through. Lunatic woman!

conkertree · 04/11/2008 22:12

great about the kicks mathsmummy - its really where i started enjoying being pg last time.

lulubai - have been debating whether to stay up and watch the election or be sensible and go to bed. would love to stay up but i suspect i would regret it tomorrow. oh well.

LuLuBai · 05/11/2008 08:09

Wow - conkertree I am impressed you even consider it. This pregnant woman struggles to stay up past 10pm.

Feel much more chirpy about life the universe and everything today. DD slept straight through until 6am in her cot (swtiched radio on immediately to get election results and then curled up back in bed for a while). It's amazing what difference a good nights sleep can make to your outlook on the world.

So today I am .

mizzannie · 05/11/2008 08:30

so happy obama won! our babies will be born into a much better world!

BabyBolat · 05/11/2008 10:06

Morning all

Hope you are all feeling Ok this morning - I am ridiculously tired, stayed with a friend last night and just could not sleep so ended up watching the election from 3 this morning - all very exciting, glad he won and thought McCain was a very humble and respectful loser!

Still 2 days to the scan and time is going so slowly! ROLL ON FRIDAY!!

So funny, spent all yesterday looking at old wives tales about the sex of the baby (all of which point to a boy I might add) and not my gut feeling that it is a girl! hmmmm!!!

LuLuBai · 05/11/2008 10:35

Oooh - I hadn't done that (have now):

here it is for everyone else

This one was right last time and tells me I have a 70 % chance of having a girl.

That's lucky because they are going to have to share a room! And DH reeeeally wants a girl this time.

Lucky you having the scan in 2 days BabyBolat. Mine isn't for another 3 weeks. Although DH and I are still bickering about whether or not to find out the sex.

BabyBolat · 05/11/2008 10:42

LuLu - I am not finding out - am enjoying wondering but definitely not going to find out if at all possible! (although part of me is really wanting to know now!) I just did the test and 39% boy and 60% girl hmmmm....

tristaleejac · 05/11/2008 10:48

Morning everyone - are you all set for bonfire night? My DS is so excited but the poor thing freaks out as soon as they make a noise so we're going to go to B&Q or Focus today and get some industrial ear defenders. Hopefully they'll do the trick
If not it'll be watching from inside the house as usual. Ok though as the bonfire is in the back garden. We always have a bit of a piss up on bonfire night. Our new neighbours have decided to put on a barbecue which will be tasty but a bit chilly!
Anyway should be fun. Are you all doing something nice?
As for prams, I'm very lucky in that a friend of mine bought a brand new £550 worth of icandy apple (with carry cot which then converts to forward facing pushchair) a year ago for her DS but by the time my LO is here she'll not need it anymore so is selling it to me for £5o!!!!! Jammy or what! Thought that was so kind of her.
Thankfully I already have cot from DS but will definately get new mattress, the old one's only fit for the bin now.
Just felt baby kicking when I was walking! Usually it's when I'm sitting quietly I'll feel it, but just felt big kick when standing up so am
Anyway must go I have to marinade chicken legs in sweet chilli yummyness, mmmmmmmmmmm

LuLuBai · 05/11/2008 10:49

Oooh - it is fun guessing though isn't it. I don't want to find out, but I wonder if I ought to for DHs sake. DD came as quite a shock to him and I think it took him a little while after her birth to get used to the idea of a daughter. This time he wants a girl, but I wonder if it would be better to let him get over any shock during pregnancy rather than after. (there are enough other shocks to contend with after the birth!)

LuLuBai · 05/11/2008 10:53

Ah - bonfire night. I love it, but I don't think there is a bonfire happening anywhere particularly close and as DH is working away from home I don't fancy travelling for miles to go to one on my own with DD.

So I will be at home tonight, mopping the kitchen floor after DD goes to bed.

Just call me Cinderella.

BabyBolat · 05/11/2008 11:09

Ah I wish I was doing something for bonfire night - me and DH were going to go to a fireworks show tonight but alas I do not want to go and stand on my own! Thankfully our bedroom is in the loft so will be able to look out the window at all the sparkly lights! Would love some BBQ food tho - burgers with onions would go down so well right now!!!

LuLuBai · 05/11/2008 11:12

Oh yes - how is your FIL doing? The best thing is that they found out with enough time for his family to gather around. It does make such a differenc.

As for bonfires - there may well be one on Saturday that you could go to.

And food - oh I'm ravenous! Could eat lunch now, but think I ought to wait for DD to wake up first so that I only have to prepare lunch once.

BabyBolat · 05/11/2008 11:20

OK I think - DH doesn't really talk about it much on the phone as I think he uses that as a chance to think about something else! I have already had 2 crumpets for breakfast and am deciding how long I can wait to get some more food without looking like a complete pig!

Re bonfires - To be fair, I am normally curled up in bed by 9.30 so would probably be too late for me anyway!

LuLuBai · 05/11/2008 11:24

Crumpets!!!

That is what I want! With stilton on. Drat! Why do my food fantasies always take these turns.

To be honest I rarely eat Stilton when I'm not pregnant but the moment it is denied to me I WANT IT!

Maybe toasted crumpets with some good quality cheddar will do....

(or I could be normal and have them with butter and jam)

DungunGirl · 05/11/2008 11:36

That was fun!

I got 77% chance of a girl! Here is keeping fingers crossed!

BabyBolat · 05/11/2008 11:40

Roll on April - am getting a bit excited now!!!

Am trying to work out where I can get a BBQ beef burger with onions in the centre of London (Holborn) - Any ideas?!!!

LuLuBai · 05/11/2008 11:46

Oh I don't know about a burger - but if you go down to Leather lane there is the most amazing little kosher deli which does the yummiest falafal wrap, made to order with all sorts of good things added. It's on the right hand side a couple of minutes into Leather Lane. You can't miss it - it's always heaving around lunch time.

Goodness the thought of it - I may have to head into town to get one. (I live a long way from Holborn these days)

When I worked in Holborn I also used to regularly treat myself to the Pecan & sesame noodle salad from Eat.

pinkadink · 05/11/2008 11:48

Hi all. Been really busy lately so not had much chance to spend time on computer. Thanks for all the welcomes on the previous thread. Have found new thread and just about caught up on all your news - wow this thread moves so fast!

Babybolat really sorry to hear about your father in law but glad your DH was able to get over to be with him. I definitely second the advice on doing something to celebrate you wedding anniversary when things begin to settle again.

All this advice on nappies and prams is great but makes me realise how much we have to think about and organise before baby arrives. I'm not the best at making decisions normally and don't think my pregnancy brain will help in that department . Think DH and me will make a big start on the baby shopping while we are off over the Christmas holidays (I'm another one really looking forward to Christmas and baby shopping will make it even better)!

I wore my maternity trousers for the first time yesterday as ordinary trousers really are getting too tight. Still just got a very small bump though. Imagined earlier in pregnancy that I'd be showing more by now and am really looking forward to having a 'proper' bump.

I know it is still quite early to be thinking about this but has anyone considered when they are going to start their maternity leave? Ideally I want to have as much time as possible with the baby at the other end so was thinking of using up around two weeks holiday then starting maternity leave around two weeks before due date, so finishing work four weeks before due date. Really difficult to judge how I will feel in late pregnancy though so was wondering if anyone else has any thoughts?

LuLuBai · 05/11/2008 12:02

I'm back with a great big sarnie so should hopefully refrain from posting about food.

Hi Pinkadink - I'm a SAHM these days, but I took a full month off before DD was due. She was then 10 days late. In many ways I was really, really happy (didn't like the job and the commute wasn't much fun) but it was quite a long wait. If you take a month make sure you have lots of little things to do to keep your mind off the wait!

LuLuBai · 05/11/2008 12:24

BabyBolat and anyone else not getting out for bonfire night
here is a virtual fireworks display from the comfort of your own PC
