Hi surprisenumber3

That's so funny, I had a dream last week that I gave birth to a full term baby but it was only a couple of inches long although well proportioned.

Hi surprisenumber3 - sneezing has all sorts of wierd effects on me. Muscle stretching and even weeing . Too hideous! I seem unable to shake off my cold as well. Was the same with DD - caught a cold about this time of year and had it pretty much throughout the pregnancy until she was born.

surprisenumber3 · 12/11/2008 10:15

lulu - I'm onto my third baby now and have never had any problems with weeing with stress but a couple of days ago I did about 10 sneezes in a row and it really was very close - oh the joys!!

BoffinMum · 12/11/2008 10:19

Ps Snoozy, chiropractor took a full history, adjusted my neck a bit so it clicked (I can turn my head around now where I couldn't really before, apparently this was linked). He then did two 'adjustments', one gently on pelvis, which didn't click (possibly because he was being specially gentle and treats a lot of pregnant women), and one somewhere on upper back, which did click a lot. He then did something called 'sacro-occipital technique' which involved putting two wedges under my waist, one either side, with one higher up than the other, and leaving me to lie there for a few minutes. It felt a little bit like my pelvis was twisting gently around, back into place, while I was lying there.

I went again yesterday and he did pretty much the same. This time I was sent for a 10 minute walk afterwards, and on the way home I popped into the supermarket near his surgery to see how I got on there, thinking that if I got totally stuck there was always the outside chance he might be persuaded to rescue me! This was OK and I even managed to carry some very light shopping, but I was tired when I got home. Nevertheless I have managed to go from only being able to shuffle to the loo with my knees together on tiptoe on Saturday, to doing a small shop. I think that is a good result.

I go again tomorrow and I am keen to see what he does then.

LuLuBai · 12/11/2008 10:20

I haven't had any wee problems before either, kegal muscles all in pretty good order, all things considered, but over the last couple of days....

So mortifying I'm terrified of having a full bladder so going to the loo even more than usual.

I had a dream last time I was pregnant that I gave birth to a kitten.

BoffinMum · 12/11/2008 10:22

PPS I read somewhere on the net that satin nighties and sheets make it easier for people with pregnancy hip problems to turn over in bed! I am sure the NHS should be providing these for us, therefore!! Much nicer than physio.

LuLuBai · 12/11/2008 10:26

Not a bad idea - I have a couple of v. cheap satin nighties from BHS. They are bias cut so would fit over a bump. (Don't have hip problems but remember that turning in bed increasingly became an ordeal last time as the bump grew).

BoffinMum · 12/11/2008 10:30

Oooh, I shall waddle up to BHS forthwith! Glamour and a cure!!

conkertree · 12/11/2008 11:27

lol boffinmum at tit police - at work so had to be careful not to laugh too loud - but yes thats what they were like . also lol at surprisenumber3 and the goldfish story - brains get weird

mathsmummy - wish I had sworn at a few of them (although a couple were very nice) - think I would stand up for myself more this time round.

sounds like a few of us had the same experience - but as tristaleejac says - to those firstimers wanting to bf - dont let that put you off - cause you will get it - just might not be as much of a surprise as we had when they do that - but do ask for help if you need it cause once you get it - its great.

surprise - i'm also getting the stabbings - often at night - think i will need to get my wedge pillow out incase the bump is being stretched by just lying there.

lo is doing violent kicks again - not often maybe once a day but really really strong - it surprises me how strong.
boffinmum - will join you in your toast - i love the antenatal/postnatal threads for hiding in as opposed to some of the others that you get ripped to shreds on.

BabyBolat · 12/11/2008 11:57

Morning all

How are we all?

Re BF - I am not very patient at the best of times but if someone tried to grab me and shove it is the babies mouth I am likely to hit their hands away! I think there is so much pressure on mums to be perfect and natural and this stuff is tough so I am guessing this stuff just takes time (and seeing as it seems that I have the worlds most difficult child, I am guessing he or she will make me work at it!!)

I have decided to no longer fight the pregnancy - I know it's silly but having been avoiding maternity wear and trying to carry on as normal (as in do the hours I normally do at work etc ) however yesterday (I was wearing maternity jeans) but I was also wearing 4 inch heals and tripled over cobbles on Southbank while walking from a meeting and twisted my ankle and cut my lip. Was so petrified I may have hurt the baby but thankfully it has been kicking away thins morning as normal! So today I am wearing comfy clothes and Uggs!

SnoozyVic, I think your weight gain is perfectly normal - I have put on a tiny bit more than that but am a few weeks ahead of you and my doctor (and the internet) says that is perfectly normal!I was worried that it seemed a lot but they seem to think I am on track so hey am not going to argue - although now I am no longer nauseous I am trying to eat a little more healthily (as before my addiction to bread, cheese and chocolate was not helping!!)

Re homebirth I think for my first one I will definitely go to the hospital but it is something I would consider for any future bambinos!

BoffinMum · 12/11/2008 12:25

Thanks conker, I was wondering if it was just me.

DungunGirl · 12/11/2008 12:37

lulubai

I am a little worried about the labour this time round!
My first only took 7 hours - start to finish!

At this rate...I might not even make it to the hospital!!!

snoozyvic

I have gained just over half a stone and I am 18wks 4 days.
Saying that I can't afford to gain a lot this time as I am already overweight and anymore extra weight that isn't baby means I will be huge!

BarbarellaNz · 12/11/2008 12:37

Hi Everyone,

Just been catching up with everyone's posts - those breastfeeding horror stories (people grabbing boobs/criticising method/physical shortcomings etc) were terrible. I am quaking in my (comfy Ugg) boots at the thought of what will happen with three babies and only two breasts!!

My bump has got quite a bit bigger this week which I'm very happy about but I still don't seem to be back 'on' food like I am when I'm not pregnant. I make myself eat every couple of hours (as I've been told to do) but still don't feel like eating a lot of the things I used to even though the nausea/vomiting has all but gone. Anyone else have this? I have been enjoying KitKats and pears(??) a lot...and the odd doughnut....

I have still not felt definite movements yet (am 18 weeks tomorrow) - is there anyone else who hasn't? Should I be worried?

Hope you're all well and enjoying the blue sky today.

Barbarella XX

longlegted · 12/11/2008 12:44

I'm not sure that i'm going to be able to keep up with all you lovely ladies. Pg brain does not increase my typing skills!

Re homebirth I have had 2, I think that they are wonderful, but only if feel safe about it IYKWIM, I think differnet people labour better in differnet places depending on what makes them feel safe. For my first I had to tarnsfer to hospital afterwards which I found distressing (I have 3rd degree tear) so I now never presume that i'll be at home, just hope for it. with 2nd i was tucked in bed with baby, dh tea and toast 3 hours after start

So how many of you are hoping to deliver at home?

longlegted · 12/11/2008 12:45

-had- a 3rd degree tear, it's very much healed now and didn't affest 2nd birth

BoffinMum · 12/11/2008 12:48

Me. Although our hospital is very nice, I have to say.

Snoozy, I have gained about 1 stone 3 lbs and still look quite hot really in my view. Don't fret about weight, life's too short.

purlease · 12/11/2008 12:51

Quite like the idea of a home birth but mainly for the pleaseure of being at home after birth with DH, DD and new baby rather than in hospital.

With DD I was begging to be released after 3 days - my bedding hadn't been changed and the food was horrible. They were concerned about my blood pressure - being in hospital wasn't helping.

For the actual birth I would have concerns about things not going to plan - DD was catching on cord at the end so the final shove was a bit complicated.

SatHereSitting · 12/11/2008 12:54

Hi, I was wondering if I could join you all too please? I have been lurking around but the thread was so large it looked abit scary

I was also very much in denial that I was actually pregnant untill recently, but it seems it is true, I am with child, so I would very much like to join you

My EDD is 27th of April, this is dc no.1

purlease · 12/11/2008 12:58

Welcome SatHereSitting and congratulations

purlease · 12/11/2008 12:59

Barbarella, I am 19 weeks now and have just started feeling a bit of movement this week. Don't think there is any need to be worried.

longlegted · 12/11/2008 13:02

hi sat her sitting and congrats! I'm due the 27th too.

Thanks for adding me puzzlerocks I wouldn't have a clue how to do it

And thanks for the welcome Purlease and longlegted, it seems april is a gonna be a very busy month, everyone around me in RL is also due in april!! There must have been something in the water back in July/August

I'm sorry in advance if I ask something that has previously been mentioned, I will try and read the whole thread back so I'm up to date, but knowing my pregnacy brain even if I do I'll forget it all 5 minutes later

B52s · 12/11/2008 13:12

Hi all
Sorry to bring a downer to things but I'm feeling shaky. The hospital called this morning with the results of my triple test and came back as medium risk - 1 in 240. The midwife came over to talk it through and I have decided to have the amniocentesis test tomorrow morning. I'm only 33 and 2 years ago the result was 1 in 20,000 for DS1, so this result has come as a bit of a shock. Any advice anyone? Also, has anyone had an amnio an what is it like? I have all the leaflets from the hospital but they don't really tell you much. Am paying for a private test (£350 - eek) to get the results back early next week, instead of the 3 week NHS wait. Am posting here as I'm a bit nervous of the special needs ladies - of course I want everything to be normal as everyone does - and if the test came back positive (don't want to think about it) I don't know what I'd do. I feel awful.

purlease · 12/11/2008 13:22

SatHereSitting - there have been a few threads already so I wouldn't try to get up to speed - just ask the questions as you think of them and share your thoughts!

B52s, don't have any advice to give but I'm sure someone will be along who has gone through similar. maybe you could d o a search on amnicentisis to see what has been said on other threads.
